Shelburne Yoga offers a quiet & peaceful setting
for private, therapeutic, and group classes. Piper is a certified Integrative Yoga Therapist (IYT), Bowen Therapist, and Clinical HeartMath Practitioner for Stress, Anxiety, and Self Regulation. She has been studying and teaching Yoga and Yoga Therapy since 1994. She specializes in working one-on-one therapeutically, offering an integrative approach to healing, bodywork, and stress reduction. Her sessions and classes include neuromuscular modalities, functional alignment, diaphragmatic breathing and mindfulness-based approaches to movement and relaxation.

Shelburne Yoga is much more than just a beautiful space to practice yoga; it's a true community of practitioners.
Piper, the lead instructor, creates a truly welcoming experience for all who enter her beautiful studio and brings such positive energy in all that she does. She is a deeply knowledgeable and gifted guide who adapts instruction based on group and individual needs and experience. She checks in with all practitioners as they enter the naturally light-filled and calming studio and offers modifications with posture and/or props as needed. Her deep knowledge of the importance of breath, alignment, mindfulness and yogic philosophy is reflected in her well choreographed class sequences and thoughtfully curated playlists.
Shelburne Yoga has personally made a significant impact on my evolving practice and my physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

One of the stranger experiences I've ever had trying to book a yoga class in my 15 years of practice. Piper asked me whether I realized the class was in vermont (of course I did) and scolded me for not calling her before booking. I asked for a refund. Not welcoming and I'd suggest you avoid if you don't have an 802 area code 🤣

Whatever your age , whatever your level of yoga practice, Piper Abbot ( owner/ operator) can skillfully address your specific needs. Her prompts are gentle and inviting; she's excellent at reading the the room. The pace of every class is perfect for those who like a challenge yet those with physical limitations never get left behind. This is skill born of sensitivity and native capacity-- and honed by years of experience teaching. Her knowledge of anatomy and the nuances of how tissues, muscles and bones work together is astonishing. The studio itself is soothing, tastefully decorated and impeccably maintained.
In addition to yogic movement, Piper will ask you to engage with and notice your breathing. By the end of class you will have experienced the benefits and importance of the pause. Better still, you will be be able to recreate those benefits for yourself throughout everyday life. Whatever your personal goals, Piper can help you achieve them!

Piper at Shelburne yoga is a master. Her knowledge of anatomy and good physiology makes her an excellent yoga therapist. I have worked with her successfully on several problems that come with aging. I highly recommend working with her.
