Alex, the artistic director, is quite unkind despite working with young teenaged children. Favoritism runs rampant. Many of the more talented older girls stop attending VBT's Summer intensive in favor of out of state options if they can afford it.

Something that makes VBTS stand out from all the rest is that the Intermediate and Advanced classes are taught by faculty who have danced professionally. This is most evident when you watch them work with the dancers individually on their technique and skill set. These amazing teachers bring a high level of professionalism and skill to the studio yet at the same time, maintain a fun and supporting environment. I’ve watched my daughter develop into a beautiful dancer who shows confidence in herself both on and off the stage. We are so lucky to have VBTS in our community!

We are fortunate to have the caliber of instruction that VBT offers here in Vermont. Our daughter has been a VBT student since she was 3 years old. She is now 16. She has had the opportunity to perform on the Flynn main stage and received scholarships to premier summer intensive programs because of VBT's excellent training. They have fostered her talent for and love of dance and we are very grateful! Highly recommend.

Our daughter has loved dancing with VBT since she was 4 years old. Fast forward several years and she continues to develop her love of dance at this amazing school. The teachers are great at providing proper guidance and instruction, in a structured yet fun atmosphere. Even during the stay at home order in Spring 2020 they continued to provide instruction via Zoom, that kept my daughter strong and happy to be dancing despite the different circumstances. I highly recommend the Vermont Ballet Theater School!

Our children have attended VBTS now for over 10 years. This studio is our second home and family. We've found the instructors are of the highest quality, with amazing skill and finesse to guide each child to be the best individual and dancer they can be, giving them tools that will last a lifetime both on and off stage.

Best Ballet School in Vermont. Our kids have been studying there for 7 years...and we have watched them, and other students, for years, grow into the best dancers they can be. The teachers are excellent, and the school, students, parents and faculty all act as a community of education and support...and the annual, time cherished, performance of “The Nutcracker” would rival any professional production I have ever seen. I cannot recommend this school highly enough.

We have been a part of the VBTS family since 2013, when my oldest daughter started in the beginner ballet program. She is now at advanced levels in ballet and jazz and dancing many days a week, and loves every minute. Since then, my other daughter and son have started dance classes there as well. Each of my children has felt enormous support and kindness through this community, as have my husband and I. It is a warm and encouraging atmosphere with an abundance of positivity, which is not always present in the dance world. We love and appreciate all of the teachers and their amazing instruction. Performing in the Nutcracker has been a joy for my kids as well. It is incredibly well done and executed entirely by VBTS. My daughters joined the competitive jazz team a couple of years ago and have enjoyed the new adventures this has presented with their fantastic coach/teacher. We are so happy with the ballet and jazz instruction at VBTS and feel very lucky to have access to this caliber of school in Vermont!

Our three daughters have been dancing with this incredible school since we moved to Vermont in 2012. All three absolutely love it--from the dedicated teachers to the Nutcracker performance at the Flynn to the variety of classes and performance opportunities. Best ballet classes in Burlington Area—hands down!!

My daughter has been at VBTS for almost seven years now, and I originally chose VBT because I heard it had the best reputation when we moved here from NYC back in 2012. It has not disappointed!

I must report that in our case, my daughter (now 15) has not only loved her experience with Dance at Vermont Ballet Theatre School, but has consistently been asked where she received her training when she auditions for summer programs around the country, because her technique is so beautiful.

This is something special coming from such accomplished dance teachers—it makes me feel like we have chosen a perfect home for our tiny dancer to grow and thrive!

Additionally, the memories of Nutcracker and all of our performance weekends have been so wonderful for her and all of her friends. Truly a magical experience!

Vermont Ballet Theater has taken my shy dancer, and crafted a confidant, serious young man. My son has been with VBT for over two years. During this time he has grown beyond his years in ballet technique! When you walk into the studio building you feel like you are a part of something big. The atmosphere has a gentle hum of dancers of all levels, and you immediately feel like you are a part of the Vermont Ballet Theatre Family. It became very clear their goal wasn't about the money, it was about how to support and help my dancer grow and flourish!! Communication is always prompt and both staff and Senior parents are always more than willing to go over the top to answer any questions or to help with any needs my child may have had. It has become an intricate part of my child's childhood memories and will always be well-loved. I can't wait to see my child continue to grow with this amazing school!! They are worth every cent!!
