Joining Waterbury Functional Fitness was one of the best decisions I’ve made. From day one, I felt genuinely welcomed — not just by the owners, but by every member I met. The sense of community here is tremendous; even as a newcomer, I immediately felt like part of the family. I honestly can’t say enough positive things about this gym — it’s the kind of place that makes you look forward to every workout.

WFF is a super welcoming gym with a very knowledgeable and supportive staff. The coaches were able to modify the movements to accommodate my injury while maintaining the integrity of the workout. Highly recommended!

I’ve dropped in at over 100 gyms across the country, and Waterbury Functional Fitness is easily one of my favorites. The coaching was top-notch, the community was incredibly supportive, and the entire space was clean, organized, and well-maintained. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. If you’re looking for a gym with great energy, expert coaching, and a true sense of community, this is it. Highly recommend!

Such a great vibe - amazingly friendly and supportive owners/coaches and members! After 2+ years, I'm taking a pause from membership for life reasons and really miss seeing everyone and the programming. Looking forward to when I can return!

The tap list is lousy and you can pretty much never get a table on the weekend, but the friendly and professional staff will have you coming back. Tell them Jimmy sent you.

Dropped in on day after thanksgiving because my usual gym was closed both Thursday and Friday for the Holiday.

Colin and Justin were so welcoming. It’s got a great vibe there and they have all the equipment you need to get the job done!

I was hesitant to join a new gym, let alone a crossfit gym. WFF is close to my home and had come highly recommended by multiple friends, so I decided to give it a try. I’m SO GLAD I did. All the coaches are kind, patient, knowledgeable. Their cuing is memorable, specific, and potent. The other members are incredibly welcoming. It’s common to join a new gym and walk into more of a cliquey, uncomfy vibe. But the culture here is VERY new-face-friendly, with gym-goers going out of their way to introduce themselves and welcome new folks. I’m learning new skills every week and look forward to every class (even the intimidating ones!). Whether you’re a seasoned veteran at lifting or you’ve never stepped foot in a gym before, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend onboarding here at WFF. Well all be stoked to say hi to you✨COME!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! If you are interested in community and fitness then this is the right gym for you. The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate humans that will meet any athlete where they’re at. I know CrossFit can be intimidating, but at WFF everyone is welcomed and supported on their personal fitness journey. In the 7 years I’ve been a member I have built physical strength, friendships, and self-confidence. The most important benefit for me personally has been for my mental health. If you’re on the fence about coming in my advice is just do it! You won’t regret it!

Absolutely love this gym! CrossFit (and strength training in general) had always been a bit intimidating to me, so I had mainly stuck to my natural tendencies of running and biking outdoors and just managed the chronic aches and tightness that went along with this. WWF has totally turned my fitness around! I joined almost a year ago and am now stronger than I have ever been, and my body feels the best it ever has!

I did the on-ramp program with Justin, and I highly recommend this. He was amazing at going through each movement and lift with me so that when I transitioned to classes I was much more confident in getting started. Justin is phenomenal, but ALL of the coaches are so knowledgable, approachable and supportive. It is a fabulous group of people to spend an hour of your day with! I always feel better after going! Can't recommend them enough!

Definitely the best hour of my day. I've been a member of the Waterbury Functional Fitness community since ~2015. It has very literally been a life-changing experience in many ways - the physical fitness I've gained is incredible and the community that I'm now a part of is anchoring, meaningful, and much-needed. I've dropped in to many CrossFit affiliates over the years and WFF's staff and coaches are some of the best I've ever experienced. They will take the time to coach you whether you're new or experienced in functional fitness. They'll make an effort to include you whether you're a new member, a drop-in, or someone who has been coming for years. The owners are passionate people who do this because they really care about the health and wellbeing of the people who walk through the door. It's a business and a mission - that means a lot.

I've seen a lot of iterations of the physical space at WFF since 2015 and the current setup is as dialed as it gets for this small box - clean, well set up, all the equipment you need to get fitter if you're willing to put in the time and the consistency. The ingredients are there - it's up to you to bake the cake.

Bottom line - going to a new gym can be intimidating for so many reasons. Waterbury Functional Fitness endeavors and succeeds at being inclusive and non-intimidating because they're devoted to helping you achieve your goals, they want to foster a caring community, and they want help you have the best hour of your day every day you show up. You won't regret becoming part of this community.

I stopped by for a drop-in while in town for a wedding and it was a great start to my Saturday morning. The owners, coaches, and members were so kind and great to team up with for a partner workout. The space is so clean, bathroom, changing area and a sweet little lounge. It was well worth the short trip from the Sugarbush area if you’re in town all year. Grabbed a coffee at Blackcap after 10/10 👌🏽

Thanks for having me WFF 🤙🏽

I've never attended nor wanted to attend fitness classes. After some mild pressure from my partner, I somewhat begrudgingly joined WFF. After 6 months of going 2-3 times a week I'm feeling stronger and more flexible than I've felt in years. But the biggest benefit has been in the stability i've gained in my knees and shoulders after years of ligament injury and re-injury.

Classes are fun. Instructors are super helpful with proper technique and body adjustment. Less injuries and more fun when I'm biking/snowboarding. Just don't try and keep up with the more experienced people who are throwing up huge weight!

UPDATE:
I've been with WFF for well over two years now and still loving it just as much as when I was getting started. Feeling super strong and most important to me, have remained injury free in the sports I'm training to stay in shape for; mountain biking, backcountry snowboarding and surfing.

I joined WFF 2 years ago. I was an avid runner and at age 50 I found I could no longer run the miles I used to. I had no idea what I was doing (which was totally intimidating) but it has been a life changing experience. The instructors and community are nonjudgmental and supportive. It has become an addiction. My overall goal is to be able to keep moving and doing the things I love well into my 70’s and 80’s.

The team at WFF has built a really impressive fitness community. I dropped in 4 times while I was visiting family nearby and was continually impressed by the facility, the programming, and the welcoming atmosphere. In addition to great vibes all around, the technical proficiency of the team is apparent by the movement quality from everyone in the building and a lot of hella fit hanging out. Keep up the great works squad. Looking forward to another visit.

I've never been a member of a gym, nor have I ever done Crossfit. Hearing horror stories of overly competitive, macho, or unwelcoming gyms has always kept me from attending. However, after my wife joined and told me how wonderful it was, I just had to try it myself.

WFF is way more than just a gym. It's a community of friendly, supportive athletes who could not have been more welcoming. I've made more friends through this gym in two months than the previous two years I've lived in Vermont. That just shows how great everyone is.

Even better, the coaches are excellent. They each have their own style and technique, but they will all help you every step of the way. They emphasize technique over pushing yourself, but they're also going to inspire you to push yourself. It's really a perfect balance and keeps me coming back!

I started CrossFit September of this year. I am going to be honest, I was super scared and intimidated, because I am not the smallest of women and I knew I there would be a lot of beautiful people I would be working out with.

I went to my first class with coach Julie, I was sold and I never looked back. CrossFit has changed my life, the people and coaches at this gym are beyond amazing. I can’t not say enough great things. I have felt welcomed and encouraged from day one. After every workout I get a high five and fist pump and a nice work. It means the world.

I never thought I would get to where I am today physically but I have. Waterbury Fitness is amazing. Join its so worth it.

Strength training was never a regular part of my exercise regimen until coming to WFF. I feel stronger but also faster, more agile, and confident in other sports because of the functional strength I’m establishing. I shaved 10 minutes off of my 1/2 marathon last season thanks to WFF!
I really love coming to classes. The coaches find a way to personalize workouts for anyones abilities. They are AMAZING.
Also - I love the occasional mid workout dance parties 🤣

I used to think CrossFit was a cult and it definitely wasn't something for me. I decided to join and Robin and company are great. No matter where you are in your fitness journey they help and support you. If you can back squat 45lbs great job! If you can back squat 300lbs great job!

I needed a place that helped me learn how to get fit, this place did it. I highly recommend joining!
