About the Club

Luis Rocha has been a personal trainer for over 18 years. His journey began in 2006 when he worked for a YMCA in Richmond, VA. In 2013, Luis re-located to northern Virginia to pursue his career in fitness. After obtaining a state diploma in both nutrition and personal training, Luis got a job as an Explosive Performance Coach and only 9 months later he was promoted to be the Fitness Director for the gym. His passion for fitness grew when realizing that he enjoyed training over managing and decided to build 2nd Chances in his home. 2nd Chances provides over 7 machines with space for group training. Dumbbells range from 5 to 100lbs, which is more than your average gym. Clients range from 8 to 94 years of age from all fitness levels and goals.

I have had a wonderful experience to have Luis Rocha as my personal trainer for over a year and a half. During the time I had him as my coach, I saw the results very quickly and I reached my goal in such a short time! Unfortunately I had to stop working out with him because I moved out of his area.
Luis is very passion about his work and he is genuinely care about his clients. He listens to the client’s goals and develops an individual plan accordingly. Luis posses strong observational skills and is quickly to modify the plan as needed!
He is also a great motivator! He encourages and respects and client’s goals; he is gentle pushing the client to the best of their ability!
Luis is very creative in using in different pieces of equipments to work out in each session which make working out fun and never boring or repetitive. He makes working out challenging, but enjoyable and again very engaging!
Beside his knowledge and expertise in his field, Luis Rocha is very professional, punctual and respectful to the clients’s time (he understands the clients’s time is very valuable, therefore he wants to make sure it’s productive for the clients).

Training with Luis has been the best decision I've made for my fitness journey. Since day 1 he created a program that's in line with what I want to accomplish and it’s made a huge difference. Every session feels personal and focused, but also fun and motivating.

He is also an absolute expert in his field. Every question I have he has an answer to and explains things in detail. Everything he does is intentional and has a reason. I’ve learned alot from him!

I was never good in sport, pe, yet alone weightlifting. But when I turned 39, my friends recommended me to go to the gym for health purposes. I was assigned to the worse trainer in the world. Not only does he not helping me, he always tells me I'm too short for the machines, and I got injured during a session with him. Sounds encouraging right!!!

I was introduced to Luis in 2018 when I turned 40 by the gym manager saying he's the best. He was supposed to be my nutritionist, but I fell as a student. But within 2 sessions he discovered my strength and helped me build strength and courage. I started in July, but in December guess where I landed? I was in a powerlifting competition. Not only did I won 2 gold medals, I set 5 state records. After that I continued to get stronger and continued to compete. Not only is Luis a great trainer, he's a good listener. His knowledge and quick thinking always get me what I want and knows what's best for me. He's reasonable and understanding and guarantee he will help you meet your goal. He's an A+ trainer, trust me. Luis Rocha has been our trainer for four years. Throughout this lengthy relationship, Luis has shared his considerable knowledge and passion for personal training. With his guidance, we are both healthier and fitter than ever before. We are so pleased with the positive impact he has provided that we intend to increase our weekly time with him from two (2) to three (3) days, as schedules permit.

Luis provides a personalized approach to training. We are each challenged to attain incrementally higher levels of performance. The emphasis is to focus upon individual goals. The difference between our programs is wide … especially when it comes to functional training that comprise about half of each session.
He has adapted his training approach to accommodate our special needs, such a post-surgical recovery (hip replacement). Luis possesses strong observational skills and is quick to modify a day’s session if one of us conveys (verbally and non-verbally) issues that might impact our performance. In other words, he is good at ‘reading the client.’

Workouts are certainly challenging … but are also lots of fun. That is due to the fact that Luis possesses an incredibly positive personality and can easily relate to his clients. It has been a genuine pleasure to come to know Luis both professionally and personally.

I trained with Luis since the beginning of 2018. I first got a trainer so that I can force myself to go to the gym and lose weight but Luis ended up teaching me much more than just weight loss. He’s taught me the importance of having more muscle, eating healthier (eating more) and eventually helping me mentally accept that you don’t have to starve to be skinny. Although he’s not my trainer anymore, he’s the reason that I am able to maintain my current physique and I am not afraid of food.

Luis has helped me to learn how to lift with the correct form so I do not hurt myself. No matter how “experienced” I may feel, sometimes I tend to forget because I want to lift heavier and then realize my form is a little off and end up hurting myself. Luis is great at telling me to de-load or if I need to lift heavier.

At first I wanted to lose weight and we did a lot of interval training but when I found out about his passion for heavy lifting, I decided I wanted to try that. I ended up learning a LOT about lifting and the science behind it and at the same time lose a lot of weight because he introduced me to macros. You don’t need to do cardio and starve to lose weight!

Luis is also a great teacher! He is really knowledgeable and when you ask him a question, he always comes back with an answer and backs it up with science. There were a few times he didn’t know the answer but he was honest about it and told me he will get back to me in my next training. He always comes back with an answer as promised.

If we end up cancelling a session, he always follows up with me to see if I went to the gym and how my session went. He has always been great at following up.

One year, I decided I wanted to try another coach and told him about it. Instead of being mad and upset at me, he totally understood and pushed me to do it. I was really touched and thankful for that! That actually kept me to stay in touch with him.

During the pandemic, I ended up gaining a LOT of weight back because the gyms closed and I was eating anything I wanted. Luis ended up reaching out to me and told me about his gym in the garage. I took the offer and tried it and it was great! It’s obviously smaller than a real gym but you are still able to get a full body workout!

Luis is a great friend, workout partner and trainer. He’s a professional and a great teacher. If anyone is looking for a trainer, Luis is perfect! He isn’t greedy and is very real with you. I have lost over 15 pounds with Luis without having to do a lot of cardio and having to starve myself.

Luis Rocha has proven to be a superb personal trainer. He was highly recommended to me, in part because his clientele includes senior citizens. I wanted a trainer because am 70 years old and need knee replacements. I wanted to work on getting stronger prior to surgery. In addition, I lost a lot of mobility due to inactivity during COVID and wanted to improve my quality of life.

Mr. Rocha has tailored my sessions to help me meet my goals . He also changes my workouts as my fitness level improves.
