Absolutely love this place!
The instructors are super friendly, supportive, and really take the time to make sure everyone feels welcome—no matter your fitness level. The workouts are high-energy, fun, and a great mix of cardio and strength training.
It’s not just a great workout, it’s also a really positive and encouraging environment. Everyone is so motivating and you leave feeling stronger, both physically and mentally. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun way to get fit and relieve some stress!

I came looking to find a gym to switch my routine up and I found a new family! I love this community! Over the last couple of years, I have challenged myself and have grown in strength and stamina. I enjoy there being no specific class times as I am normally running behind for one reason or another. The workouts last 30 minutes, but they are a powerful 30 minutes and I feel accomplished at the end of the day. Staff is amazing and considerate of all workout personalities! I also enjoy how jess and trainers Incorporate different challenges throughout the year - I’ve gotten some cool swag and wraps. 9round is also a very affordable gym in the kickboxing community. I remember being shocked at how far my dollar would take me compared to other kickboxing venues

9round has been the best discovery for my fitness and mental health. I used to go to a big gym with lots of classes that I really enjoyed, but it was always a challenge to make it to the classes that I liked with my busy work schedule. I also can’t be trusted to just go into a gym and work out – too boring and distracting - I need accountability! Enter 9round: I can go in whenever it works and always have a great workout figured out for me. Plus everyone that works there is great and the community members are always there for each other! It’s the best way to start my day – I am way less likely to get snippy on work calls if I’ve punched and kicked some things before the day gets going ha ha! Come on in and give it a try. You wont regret it!

This 9Round club is the third I’ve been a part of and all I can say is that this place isn’t a gym to me. It’s my second home.
Therapeutic. Engaging. The workouts work. The patrons that go here are all fantastic.
The coaches and especially the owner are all too wonderful, I can’t put to words how much I admire, respect and love them to do them justice. All I can say is that I couldn’t have asked for a better team behind me to push me further to a better self.

I have been going to 9 rounds for about 3 years now and I have always had a very positive experience. I enjoy being to go for a quick workout and that there are always trainers during open hours. I've always loved fitness classes because they hold me accountable, but I struggled to find a routine that worked with my work/life schedule. Enter 9round: get a killer workout, take out some aggression (aka therapy), and you are in-and-out in 30 minutes when it works for your schedule. Update: I’ve been a member of this gym since Nov 2018, and it’s become my third place in the truest meaning. EVERY ✨body✨ is welcome here. I love how much FUN we have in this space, but you can also just come in, keep your head down, and be in and out in ~30 minutes. Still completely the best thing I’ve done for my physical and mental health. I wasn’t sure if I’d like the 24 hour model but I love the flexibility of coming when I am able, but I can also still come hang with trainers and my fellow bönxtîng fränds when I want. ☺️
Original: I've never loved a workout more. I leave every workout knowing I did good work in there. I love that I can work out next to pregnant women, folks in excellent shape, folks in less excellent shape, and everyone gets the workout THEY need. I need to adapt some of the workouts to fit what I'm capable of doing, and the trainers don't even blink before they offer something that meets my needs while still hitting the goals of each exercise. I love that it changes everyday, and even if a particular Round is hell on earth, I've only got to make it for three minutes. I particularly love that it truly is a 30 minute workout, and you don't have to wait for a pretty round number on a clock to get started. Joining 9Round has been the single best thing I've done for my mental health in YEARS. Jess and her team are the absolute best.

Best workout ever. The trainers will motivate you, educate you and listen to your goals. I am 61 years old and do all the exercises, kicks, punches and cardio i cannot recommend 9round enough. It will be the best 30 minutes of your day. Nothing relieves stress better than punching a bag!!!

2024 Update: I wrote this initial review after 3 workouts. I am closing in on 350, so it’s safe to say I still love it! I prefer to come when the trainers are there because they make it such a fun environment but the new 24 hour all-access option is awesome for the occasional off hours punch session or for people with odd schedules. And I’m still no master but I’m much better at speed bag now! ;-) Thanks to Jess and Ed and the whole 9R crew for all you do!

Three classes in and I love it! I was a gym rat/did classes 4-5 days a week for years until moving here cross country right before the pandemic … so the gym slipped away in the craziness. But we settled into our new neighborhood recently and could see this place on our walks so we gave it a try and joined right away. The staff has been welcoming and helpful. The classes are tough but efficient - great workout in a short amount of time. And I love the no set class times because my schedule is normally insane. Looking forward to many more workouts (and figuring out that speed bag eventually!)

I love, love, LOVE this gym! The coaches are awesome, the members are awesome, and the workouts!! Every time I go, I get a full body workout, in 30 minutes, that gets my heart rate up AND strengthens my muscles. The flexibility of the stations is really cool--I can do the whole circuit, and spend 30 minutes, or if I have more time, I can go back and focus on areas that I feel need more attention or more skill training. The gym owner, Jessica, is super cool, and she explains things really well. All the coaches do, actually. And I like being able to win wraps and gloves, which is a fun perk! I cannot recommend this gym highly enough!! Predicate!! Get in here and punch something and get strong!!

I joined 9round a month ago, having absolutely no experience not only in the kickboxing world but also fitness world. I was so nervous to go to my first session, but EVERYONE & I mean everyone has been so kind and encouraging! I immediately felt comfortable within moments of my first session! It's a small gym but it seems like everyone roots everyone on which I something I need!! If you want great trainers, no class time and a 30 min as$ kicking workout check them out!

DO NOT purchase a membership to this gym. They agreed to cancel my membership back in July 2023 and have continued to charge my card without my permission for the past 5 months. When I notified them of this, they refunded me for 1 month and refused to refund me for the additional months. They also required me to purchase over $300 worth of equipment after my free trial and refused to refund me for that when I wanted to return it, unused, the following week. There are fantastic fitness centers in Richmond, and if you are looking for one with top notch customer service I recommend F45, Burn Bootcamp, or Solidcore in Libbie Mill.

Just had my first workout this morning, great workout and I left with my heart rate pounding. Austin (the trainer) explained everything nicely, no judgement and welcoming when I arrived. I called yesterday and spoke to the owner and got scheduled and there was no pressure sales!!
My only complaint is that I will probably be sore tomorrow! 🙃 I recommend for everyone that wants to hit something!!

I don't go to a gym to socialize, I go to workout. At 9 Round, there is no time to shoot the breeze due to the fast-paced protocol. Three minutes at each of the 9 stations will leave you sweating and your muscles quivering. The trainers are fabulous as they cheer you on and demonstrate any exercise you may not be familiar with. At least 5 of the stations involve punching or kicking a bag, which is very satisfying. All muscle groups get attention. Love this place!

I was visiting Richmond so I went there for my first free workout and the minute I walked in, I was greeted right away by the Trainer Ed who also had a positive vibe and helped me through all 9 stations that I fell in love with the workout and as soon I left for home state, I signed up at my local 9Round gym and since my time in the gym, my weight has dropped; I am building muscles; and am truly improving every class. I’ve been very afraid of gyms during COVID but when I called 9Round and talked to the owner of this location, I was really pleased with all of the answers and decided to give it a try. I’m so glad I did! I love kickboxing (it’s my sport of choice) but hadn’t done it in years (injuries) so it has been so awesome to get back into it in a fun and friendly atmosphere! The owner and trainers are great and very encouraging. Highly recommend for anyone looking for high intensity interval workouts that don’t take forever (30 minutes) and work the whole body.

This gym is absolutely AMAZING and i don’t even like the gym. I’m a travel nurse and was only going to be in Richmond for 6 weeks. The owner Jess was so accommodating and was able to sign me up for a plan that worked for both of us! The work outs are great and only 30 min. The trainers actually interact with you (with masks on of course) which makes it even more fun! The gym had so many class times that worked with my night shift schedule. Because of covid they are limiting the class sizes so you have to sign up before you go. The staff took extra precautions to make sure we were all safe while working out. They wipe down all equipment in between people using it and even sanitize the floors! Socially distance us when we are working out. I was beyond impressed! I honestly really did enjoy going everyday and i was so bummed when i hurt my knee and couldn’t finish out my last two weeks with them. I will definitely look for more 9Round’s once my knee heals and i get to my next travel assignment. Thanks for everything!

I literally can't say enough good things about 9Round!
The workout is fast, fun and super challenging (physically and mentally). I love being able to drop in on my schedule since there are no class times. I look forward to the emailed synopsis of my workout and I enjoy tracking my progress. Hitting and kicking things is GREAT for stress and it's so satisfying.
All of the trainers are encouraging, supportive and just plain great people. They are patient, give modifications and are extremely motivating.
In addition, the gym is always neat and spotless. It's the best 30 minutes I can spend on any given day.

I had a trainer tell me she didn’t need to show me a workout because “everyone knows how to do it” and because “she’s even done it at Orange Theory”. I have a feeling if I wasn’t a person of color, she wouldn’t have fixed her lips to give me an irrelevant reason for not doing her job. Funny thing is I tried Orange Theory for the first time yesterday and the trainers actually showed me the exercises enthusiastically. That’s customer service for you.

Love the gym. Great workout. Great trainers. Like that I get some personal attention but that I don't have to go all in for a personal trainer. The trainers are really friendly and very encouraging. They definitely create a positive atmosphere.
There is one thing I would change: I'd like more evening and weekend hours. With my schedule it is hard to get there during the hours they have currently.

It's in a nice location with easy parking which is always a plus, especially around willow lawn/the city. The workout is AMAZING. 30 minutes only and absolutely kicks your butt. It's really nice not having to worry about class times - just show up whenever you have a free 30 minutes and get an amazing workout in. The owner/trainer I met were very kind and helpful, as well. It's really great cardio and strength training, and it gives you an opportunity to learn some boxing technique and throw some punches. Definitely recommend!
