I’ve been going to Beyond Strength for the past 6 years, and I can confidently say it’s the best gym in the area. Unlike other gyms, Beyond Strength focuses on strength, mobility, and endurance in a way that feels sustainable and energizing. This is NOT CrossFit—you won’t feel completely gassed out by the end of a session. Instead, you’ll walk out feeling stronger, refreshed, and more motivated for your day.
The programs written by Chris and Todd are exceptionally well-structured. They put so much thought into building workouts that not only challenge you but also help you build consistency and long-term progress. The emphasis on proper technique and mobility ensures that you stay injury-free while achieving your goals.
If you’re looking for a gym that prioritizes smart training, community, and results, Beyond Strength is the place to be! It has truly transformed the way I approach fitness, and I can’t recommend it enough.

After four years, I still find the program challenging and enjoyable. The owners' high level of education is evident in the professionally designed program. Beyond the Strength has become a significant part of my life, and I plan to continue attending for many years to come.

When is a gym not really a gym? When it’s Beyond Strength! Unique place, a truly relaxed place to get yourself in shape, among truly nice people, both staff and fellow members. Highly recommended, specially if you hate gyms or never even thought about setting foot in one!

I started going to Beyond Strength because every time I went to a physical therapist for an ache or pain, I was often told that the reason for my injury was that I was “weak” in another area of my body. So, to end the years-long cycle, I decided to try here after doing research, and after seeing the amazing results my son had since he had started. I soon realized how appropriate the name of this gym/program is. Not only has my strength and flexibility increased, but my ability to control my stress level, heart rate and other aspects of life that goes “beyond strength”. This is a great gym and great community. I strongly recommend it.

Been a member for 10 years now. The programming and coaching are fantastic. Their training methods aren’t unconventional by any means. But they don’t follow typical training methods either. Those are either not sustainable or worse, hurt you. Beyond Strength’s programming is methodical, scientific, purposeful, and challenges different aspects of your fitness. The coaches are fantastic. Class sizes allow for interaction between members and coaches AND ensure equipment is available for everyone to use. Their process works 100%. If you’re after strength, cardio, endurance or mobility, they deliver those results.

I was formerly part of another semi-private training gym that closed during the pandemic. As a result, I was away from a gym for a few months and definitely noticed a loss of physical strength along with a mental change. With basically only being dedicated to going to and from work, and not dedicating time to my health and fitness, I wanted to get back.
Since joining Beyond Strength in May of 2021, I’ve seen huge improvements in mobility and strength. They have gotten me to a point where I am more agile which has helped me improve my tennis game.
I am very proud of staying consistent at the gym, making sure I hit my four days a week. This has encouraged me and changed my mentality on the weekends to—instead of being lazy or going to a brewery at 12pm—going out for a hike or a walk, a bike ride on the W&OD trail, or doing something to keep up with exercise… and then maybe hitting up a brewery... :-)
If you are on the fence about joining Beyond Strength, I would say two things:
- It is a completely judgment-free zone. Folks from all types of walks of life and all shapes and sizes. Folks in nearly perfect shape who you will be inspired to be like someday, folks who are looking to get back into shape, and folks who are just starting out on their fitness journey train here.
- View this as an investment in your health. Think about all of the money we spend on clothes, going out to eat, trips, subscriptions, shoes and just stuff in general. But how much investment do we put into our physical health? Probably not enough. Consider this a true investment to improve yourself and meet some cool folks along the way.

Update: 2/24/24- Now that I have trained here for over a year and am approaching 60, I wanted to post an update :
I have absolutely seen positive gains in my strength AND mobility which is so critical as we age! In fact after taking a 9 year break from downhill skiing I was able to get back on the slopes without any problems
and my knees are stronger than ever! I have had cardiovascular gains too. Using the Morpheus heart rate monitor has allowed me to track an improved HRV as well as see a lowered overall heart rate while training. Healthy heart training is also critical to longevity so I love that the owners incorporate a variety of sessions to increase cardiovascular health properly instead of always killing yourself like other gyms do.
This is also a place that feels like home. Members are all different ages, all different levels of fitness and have different backgrounds but we all have something in common - we love training here because Chris and Todd along with their trainers have gotten it right! They have created an environment that is welcoming to all and can deliver their knowledge and expertise in a fun way to help us improve our quality of life . I thank you for this. Hands down you have created the BEST gym out there and I look forward to continued training and improved health under your leadership!

I am so VERY fortunate to have found this gym! It truly is like no other! The owners, Chris and Todd and trainer, Rony are absolutely fantastic ! The programs they put together are solid and never boring . Focus on strength , mobility, breathing and heart rate makes this a total package training guaranteed to yield results of better overall health! Don’t hesitate to give it a try, I am sure you will love it!

I’m at about a year and a half at Beyond Strength and I have nothing but positive things to say. As a teacher who plans lessons all day for my kids, it’s nice to show up and have your workout planned with a purpose for you each day.
Chris, Todd, and Rony have helped me use training to supplement my performance in my adult league soccer games. For the first time since pre-pandemic, I have been able to play a full 90 minutes. I attribute this to the strength, conditioning, and mobility training at Beyond Strength.
As someone with anxiety, I recommend this gym highly. It’s a safe space for everyone to complete a similar workout at their own paces, but still push each other. There’s no gym judgement here!
Can’t wait for what the next year and a half has in store :)

Wow, it's hard to believe I'm almost celebrating a year at Beyond Strength! I have to say, I'm absolutely floored by the progress I've made and the amazing community I've become a part of.
When I started, I was curious to see what I could achieve in a year and if strength training was really worth it. Stepping into my mid-40s made me realize building strength was key, especially coming from an all-cardio background.
I'm not just stronger and leaner now, I feel completely empowered! The gym's mission to use strength for a better life truly resonates with me. It's about feeling confident, tackling new adventures, and staying injury-free – exactly what I wanted.
I'm writing this review for the same reason I found Beyond Strength – a quick Google search! I know how important reviews are, and honestly, they're what convinced me to give this gym a shot.
The passion of the owners is contagious! You can see it in the meticulously designed training plans and feel it in their informative blog posts and podcast. They truly walk the walk and inspire you to do the same.
And let's not forget Rony, the head coach! He's the heart and soul of Beyond Strength. His expertise and positive energy make every workout a blast.

Before joining Beyond Strength I was just "training" on my own, and mostly injured, frustrated, and aimless. I'm a fairly accomplished distance runner having run competitively in high school, college, and in marathons, so I always tend to gravitate towards endurance training. After several injuries, I attempted to mix in strength training on my own to get healthy and find more balance, but admittedly I had no idea how to strength train. I had no coaching or plan other than just throwing myself into it full blast, and I ended up getting injured. I tried various gyms in the area but would ultimately leave because they offered no long-term plan or goals, so it felt like I was just showing up to be there without any purpose. I tried a personal trainer but didn't get much out of it except a lot of expense and little progress. I aimlessly teetered between trying to run and trying to lift depending on which injury was worse, but with no plan or consistency, I really just didn't feel healthy or happy.
I needed somewhere to work out that offered balance and instruction so that I could get stronger without getting hurt. I also had a 2-year-old son, so it was critical that I get and stay healthy so I could get up and down and pick him up and generally play on the floor a ton. After 16 months here, I am no longer dealing with any injuries, I'm stronger than I have ever been in my life at age 40, I've been able to maintain my endurance, and I'm so much more knowledgeable now than when I started. I am able to train consistently every day, which makes me happier in all aspects of my life, and most importantly I can keep up with my now 4-year-old son without fear of getting up and down off the floor 100 times a day. I enjoy the way BS mixes up the training so that I am constantly forced to adapt, but also keep the right intensity so that I can train every day without risk of injury or overuse. I really do feel balanced and healthy, which energizes me and motivates me to keep showing up and getting better.
I wasn’t used to doing heavy lifting, so training to gain strength was new to me and something that I'm really enjoying. I had also never tried erg rowing before coming to Beyond Strength, but since joining I have learned to enjoy the erg and I've been able to log some decent times that I'm proud of. I've also achieved the Black level during testing, which is really all about seeing my progress on exercises that I never tried before and knowing my hard work is paying off with real, tangible results. I'm most happy about all the new training techniques and exercises that I've learned and become proficient with since joining which has enabled me to become well-rounded, balanced, and healthier. Get-ups, kettlebell swings, all the carries, sled pushes/drags, split squats, med balls, battle ropes, rowing, ski erg, all the movement skills that help my mobility and flexibility....the list goes on and on. Those are now my favorite exercises and I had never tried them before coming here.
If you’re thinking about joining Beyond Strength, come for the coaching, stay for the programming, and you will see results. You'll get the one-on-one coaching that you need to become proficient with all these skills. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable and will give you the dedicated instruction you need, and that is just the beginning. You realize as you progress through a training block that Chris and Todd put a lot of thought and science into the programming so that you are working out purposefully and not just crushing yourself for no reason. You will see how knowledgeable they are about developing a program so that you can train every day, make progress, feel good doing it, and enjoy the benefits in your everyday life. You will be challenged to do things that you ordinarily wouldn't do, and you will succeed because of the coaching and programming. And the gym has a great atmosphere with awesome people, so you will enjoy showing up rather than it being a chore.

This is the place to train! Programming is science backed and planned methodically to get the most from your effort on a year round basis. Great coaches help each member move better and feel better and we all have a ton of fun during each session. You’ll see the smiles while scanning around the floor!
Since joining Beyond Strength several years ago I have noticed many improvements in strength and mobility where previously I was getting less results and more pain/strain trying to follow cookie cutter bodybuilding type workouts. Everything here has a functional purpose from the warm-up, to the strength training and mobility work, all followed by a cool down to get your recovery started. I genuinely enjoy every workout here and I’ll schedule everything else around the time I have signed up to train because I know I’ll feel better afterwards.

Here’s what I like. It’s small group so it feels like one-on-one attention, but not that abnoxious screaming in your ear nonsense. There’s a plan- you see improvements over a four week period which keeps you from going for broke in one session and screwing up the next six weeks. There’s data and insights so your health IQ sky rockets which means you’re learning to listen to your body. And there’s a Podcast which I find super helpful to connect all the dots. This gym is outcomes, not activity based. Give it a try.

Before joining Beyond Strength, I wasn't actively working out like I did pre-pandemic. Back then, I would regularly go into the office and take daily exercise classes at the onsite gym and played in an indoor soccer league weekly. That all changed when I started working remotely and stopped playing soccer. I wasn't as physically active anymore because I had to adjust to not having a regular routine. Naturally, over time I felt my endurance, stamina, and strength weaken.
Since joining, and sticking to my scheduled workouts, I have seen a vast improvement in my overall strength and endurance. I've achieved many personal records in strength training and have accomplished workouts I didn't think I could ever do.
I am most proud of achieving the strength standard for women of being able to do a single pull-up and a set of 3 chin-ups in a row. Now I can actually do 4 chin-ups and soon I'll work my way up to 10! This is something that I have physically never been able to do in my life, not even growing up in school during PE classes. Other notable accomplishments for me include surpassing the strength standard for MEN in push-ups, clocking 32 during testing, as well as the endurance and power standards for women in both the 2,000 and 500-meter row tests. These right here are a testament to the strength and endurance improvements I’ve made with Beyond Strength.
If you set personal goals for yourself, stay committed, and put in the time, you will see the results. It may not be instant, but over time you'll start to feel yourself getting stronger and it will keep you motivated. Also, it's a huge benefit to have a variety of detailed workouts each month that help improve different areas of your body as well as access to a strength coach during each workout session. This type of structure in a smaller setting is great for providing guidance for a more personalized experience.

Before Beyond Strength, I was very much into “skinny culture” and would chase any/all new trend to get there via the “all or nothing” mentality. The scale dictated my every move. I was inconsistent - the “so-and-so” workout + diet promised to get me to lose x pound in 4 weeks…but I didn’t see results so I would completely stop. I was battling old injuries and surgeries that kept flaring up and I was prone to new injuries. I was in a rough place mentally- life had thrown some unexpected curve balls and I was having a hard time compartmentalizing and I allowed those circumstances to take over every portion of my life.
Some major things have changed over the last few years since joining Beyond Strength:
- I’m no longer trying to be the slimmest or chasing my high school physique. The scale holds no real value anymore.
- I am CONSISTENT—not trapped in “perfection” with my workouts and nutrition. If I miss a workout or have a “bad” meal or day of eating, I’ve learned to enjoy the break and that the day is not a wash and I need to simply get back on track.
- I’m now more interested in seeing what my body is able to accomplish, always seeking to improve myself. I’ve started to be kinder to my body and have learned to take care of it.
- I’ve learned to compartmentalize better; to focus only on what is in front of me and stop worrying about the person next to me or what’s happening next.
- I CAN DO PUSH UPS AND CHIN UPS!! For my entire life, I always thought those movements were always reserved for men.
- I have self-confidence. I genuinely like the person I’ve become. I’m stronger mentally and physically to handle the day-to-day stress of being a wife, mom, boss, coworker, friend, mentor, etc.
The lessons learned in the gym are directly transferable to your day-to-day life. There is a real sense of community here. The coaches and members are welcoming and supportive of each other; often holding each other accountable and encouraging one another to remain consistent. When life gets busy/tough, members and coaches alike are reaching out to check- in, lend an ear or hand, and provide encouragement.

I started running in my mid-forties after years of not doing much physical exercise at all. As I increased my miles and entered my fifties, I recognized the need to do some sort of cross-training. A running acquaintance suggested Beyond Strength. I’m so glad I took the initiative to check it out. I’ve been a regular for several years now. I really appreciate the guidance from the coaches (who are sticklers for form), the varied programs that challenge but don’t overwhelm me, and the supportive community. My main goal is to build and maintain strength to slow the aging process and avoid running injuries. It’s worked so far! I also value the confidence of knowing I can tackle some of the strength standards—like the flexed arm hang, deadlift rack pull, and farmer carry. Beyond Strength helps me stay focused on my health and remain active.

I worked out consistently for a long time, doing basically the same workouts every week with only slight variations, and I wasn't achieving the results I desired. Doing the same repetitive exercises was also causing some strains and nagging discomfort in certain joints, but I was apprehensive to alter my workout as I didn't really have the knowledge about what alternative exercises to do. So, I realized I needed a change.
I started some team training/group classes at another gym, and really enjoyed the group atmosphere and coaching offered through those classes. However, that program fizzled out and I came across Beyond Strength in searching for a replacement. Beyond Strength offered the group dynamic that I enjoyed, along with a much higher level of organization and well-thought-out training.
After 14 months (and counting) at Beyond Strength, I'm in much better shape, happy with my results, and the variety of exercises has allowed me to work out pain-free. There are so many exercises that I have done here that I never would have tried on my own and, after working out for a while, I have greatly improved my strength and conditioning, having progressed from the "starter" exercises to the more advanced movements and I am very close to achieving the Black Level Strength and Endurance standards.
Get in here! You will experience the professionalism of the trainers and the relaxed, group dynamic. I think there's definitely some intimidation when trying out something new, especially a gym, but once you start the classes, you realize that everyone is focused on their own performance, and no one is judging or critiquing you—except the trainers. They will pay close attention to insure you are performing safely with the best form possible.

Before I joined Beyond Strength I was struggling with a knee injury that prevented me from doing things that I normally did, and loved, like tennis, soccer, hiking and lifting weights. This affected me mentally because sports were always huge in my life. Trusting the process of Beyond Strength's program was one of the best things I have done for myself--I feel great, have lost body fat, gained muscle, and improved my form. Since joining, I am mentally and physically stronger, healthier, and happier, recovered mobility in my joints, got more endurance and as a bonus, I have met such nice people that share the same passion as me. I also gained an appreciation for being more open-minded about my training techniques. The Beyond Strength program won't make you work out "harder", but rather smarter, and more efficiently, and I promise you the training will never feel stale. Dive in! You will be impressed to see all that your body can do.

Training at Beyond Strength really brought back my love of strength work and my confidence in myself. I joined Beyond after losing a lot of physical strength over the past couple of years, hoping the team and classes would be able to help me gain some of it back. After consistently training for a couple of months, I went through my first "testing week" and saw hard evidence of the progress I had made - the weights I was using for reps had gone up, I was faster on the rowing erg, and my maximum bar hang time had DOUBLED. Even though I'm moving out of the state of Virginia, I know the lessons I learned at Beyond will stick with me throughout my strength training for the rest of my life. If you're looking for a gym to join where you'll actually see long-term results, and you'll have the best possible team of people at you're back, definitely check Beyond Strength out - they're the real deal!

Before I started at Beyond Strength I pretty much only did cardio workouts. But I really wanted to add in strength/weight training. As someone who loves group fitness, I had tried some of the bootcamp and strength style boutique workouts before but always struggled. The classes were large and high energy & the coaches good cheerleaders - but they didn’t actually teach proper form or technique. Half the time I didn’t even know what move they had called out and what I should be doing. (I even ended up pulling a muscle in my neck during one workout!)
Enter Beyond Strength! The perfect combination of group fitness and personal training. The small class sizes allow for the awesome coaches to really pay attention to what you’re doing & help with form/technique. The fact that you’re with a group and not in a solo session creates a fun and motivating environment. The community is so welcoming and the coaches have a wealth of knowledge. As someone who never had a ton of upper body strength, seeing myself do rounds of push ups, lift heavier weights, and push myself mentally + physically has been extremely exciting and rewarding.

How amazing is it to win something, and even better when you win something that continues to surprise you? I won a year of Beyond Strength membership for myself and my husband and perhaps I should be writing this review about myself and my physical and emotional journey the last year. But I’m not.
Instead, I’ll ask you to imagine a 45-year-old man who:
Has Lyme’s arthritis, with the same painful symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis
Has Spinal Stenosis
Has Degenerative Disc Disease
Has had a Laminectomy involving 3 discs
Has had 4 meniscectomies, 2 on EACH knee (1 caused by just doing A squat)
Who has a love of good ole’ fashioned “bad-for-you” food (who doesn’t!?), which has helped him be on an on and off rollercoaster with his weight
Would you imagine that he could do box jumps, Copenhagen planks, deadlift 405 lbs. or squat 295 lbs.? Before we started this, he could not RUN, do a sit up, SIT on a row machine, could not do a body weight squat without fear of causing another meniscectomy.
Beyond Strength has not just gotten my husband and I back in shape, it has given my kids an energetic dad that can play soccer with them, that can fall down without getting hurt, that can live an active life with his family again. It has changed the things that we do together as a family and I will forever be grateful for that gift from this gym and the personalized approach they take for each person.
THANK YOU BSP FROM OUR WHOLE FAMILY!

BSP has been a game changer for me. It's been a journey with ups and downs. Day one, spoke to Chris about my goals, I was doing Orangetheory 4 times a week and still saw no difference in my weight or how I looked. And now with BSP for about 11 months, lost weight (not all ;)) and am happy with how I look.
I also want to be honest that I doubted BSP for a while, because it did NOT kill me! Such a wrong perspective. I was going to OTF, which made me work like a dog and still no results. And then BSP, was an easy going (well not always...hehe) workout routine.
And lastly, the vibe! This place is like you go see some fun/positive people and work out.
If I can lose weight with BSP (which is almost impossible..hehe) then ANYONE can!
Thank you BSP and the team!!

When I first joined BSP I didn't know what to expect. I've always been extremely active but after my second spine surgery I just couldn't get back in the groove. I was demotivated, in pain and had given up on lower body workouts.
Chris and the team help me recognize posture mistakes I never knew I had and they slowly helped me build my body to the level where I could do workouts I never thought Id be able to. The extremely interactive coaches and everyone else at the gym create a fun environment that I look forward to coming to after a long day at work.
I started off with quite a lot of pain, after working out at BSP for over a year I have now resumed an active social lifestyle and I even started cycling! Overall BSP, helped me get back in shape, motivate me, they helped identify the areas I need to work on, reduced my back pain and helped me meet new friends. Definitely recommend :)

I joined BSP about 4 years ago after having my son. I was someone who was not active at all before my pregnancy and after having a baby, I wanted to start exercising to pursue a healthier lifestyle and gain overall strength. I knew very little about exercise, proper nutrition, etc. so I was extremely intimidated when going in for the first time not knowing what to expect. All of that anxiety went away after my first day. I immediately felt welcomed and accepted, have never felt judged, and the coaches are some of the most caring and supportive people I have ever known. They give each member the time and attention they need in the gym and even check in with you outside of the gym sometimes too. And what’s awesome, you get the same support from the members at BSP as well.
This year has been very challenging for everyone for sure, including myself. The first 6 months of this year I had multiple things take a toll on my physical and mental health. I have been back at BSP since the first week they re-opened in June. I was counting down for the re-opening because BSP is where I go to relieve my stress, focus on improving myself, while having fun and lots of laughs along the way. It really is like hanging out with your best friends and family except your getting in some serious work!
With the guidance of the coaches, sticking to my commitments and remaining consistent with my workouts, in the last month I have accomplished goals I have had for the past year within a month or so. And this was after having been on several months of quarantine neglecting any self care for myself. The programs are tailored to you as an individual to put you in the best position to succeed and it still amazes me at how quickly you start to see and feel the transformation. BSP is definitely by your side 100% to provide all the knowledge and resources they have to help you accomplish your goals. As long as you do your part too outside of the gym, no doubt you will accomplish goals you may have never thought were possible. I did and it feels amazing!

I was forty-six and under a great deal of stress when I returned to BSP NOVA in January of 2018, and scared that results would take much longer. My main motivation was to get to the gym to clear my head, but I also wanted to look and feel better.
Therapy for my mental health was an option, but I find more clarity in exercise than I ever did talking to someone. Regular gym memberships are great too… if you’re a very disciplined person, know a broad variety of exercises to keep things interesting, and you understand how the body works so you’re not hurting yourself.
Commitment is often the biggest hurdle for people—because it seems like such a life change—and it was no different for me. But the programs and people at BSP NOVA have kept me coming back.
My mental health is visible in that my spirit is brighter and, now forty-seven years old, I’m confident and proud to take my shirt off at the beach or pool. I feel healthy and on top of my game.
If you’re getting to BSP NOVA three times a week for an hour and working through your programs in one month or less, you’re going to see and feel the results quickly. Most of the same faces have been there throughout my most recent enrollment and we’ve all watched one another improve—which helps you stay motivated. Everyone is in it for the same reasons and rooting each other on.
The workouts cater to your athletic ability, your age, your physical condition, and your specific goals. Whether that’s working around injuries, strength building, or muscle tone and definition, the BSP NOVA team knows how to get you there. The trainers are college educated and have a great deal of knowledge about the human body and how to train it, not just a bunch of gym-rat, muscle-heads. At my age I occasionally aggravate a muscle playing extra-curricular sports or am sometimes guilty of lifting too much. When that occurs the BSP NOVA trainers revise my program to provide rehabilitation and those efforts have worked time and time again.
I will always want to improve, but at forty-seven years old my strength, endurance, and physique are above average. Even if I’m fooling myself, that’s a win. I’m addicted to the gym but in a healthy way. Working out is my #1 stress-reliever and now I fear the day I’d ever have to give it up. It’s a lifestyle.
The programs at BSP NOVA will get you results, so the faster you get there, the sooner you’ll realize your goals.

Prior to joining BSP NOVA, I totally got into a slump. I wasn’t feeling motivated, I was doing very passive workouts that weren’t making a difference mentally or physically, and I felt old, fat, and tired—not at all like myself! I would randomly lift at the gym, but there was no structure or consistency to make progress, so it felt pretty pointless, and I’m sure I wasn’t building an effective routine the few days I would go work out.
Since coming back (I was a member years ago before moving out of the area), I’m in a happy place… Workouts are fun, I love that each program is like its own mini-challenge to push through, and I can see progress every time I read my sheet (even if it’s small changes in weights lifted going up). I’m no longer bored or writing off workouts because there’s that feeling of “whatever, I can do it later, it’s just the gym”.
The community is unreal. I’ve never been in one place with so many people that are allies and champions for each other, coming from so many different places with so many different goals.
And of course, the coaches are awesome and help build a supportive environment that’s incredibly welcoming and realistic. I’ve never felt pressure to be perfect, only encouragement to be mindful of decisions so I can make better ones to reach my own goals.
The camaraderie from coaches and members alike is something I’ve never felt so naturally anywhere else—it’s just there without being forced upon you. I’ve never seen someone walk out of BSP unhappy, even when I know we’ve all come in on rough days a time or two and wanted to be anywhere else.
I could gush on and on… but if you want a judgement-free place where you can set your own pace for progress and have a ridiculous amount of knowledge and resources to help, this is it!

Can’t say enough about this place. It’s not a gym, it’s a second home. Coming here does not feel like a chore and the energy you feel from Chris, Tod, Tommy, Greg and Pavlos makes your workout that much better! I was skeptical transitioning from only doing pilates for the last 2 years but I’m glad I made the change! The coaches will help tailor your workout depending on how you’re feeling that day and it’s made all the difference. My favorite part about this gym is knowing the coaches not only listen but genuinely care about every single person who enters. Thank you BSP!

Day 1 review: paperwork was thoughtful. Trainers seem to be confident and caring. Will update after day 2. :)
Overall glad to know about them!
May 8 - Day 2 update: Today was working with the coaches. Still just beginning for me. But loving the camaraderie of the staff (with each other and the others that are there). Truly does feel like a family - they care.

BSP Nova is perhaps the best facility in the US... A little about me. CF level one certified NASM certified trainer. Chris had to put me back together... Meaning I couldn't squat properly.or move.... Geoff got my strength to new levels. John ensured that I didn't cheat.... Best of all everyone is family....

I've been working with the coaches here for about 3 months and I've had a great experience so far.
To qualify myself for people in my shoes who might read this review: Before training here, I have about 7 years of consistent lifting experience. I see myself as having intermediate to advanced knowledge and skill in weight training.
What brought me to BSP? At the beginning of 2016, I became completely uninspired at the gym. I felt like something was missing. Left to my own devices, I had been getting stuck in training ruts and plateaus frequently. My diet fell apart and I started to gain fat. I had come to BSP originally to find a coach or trainer to help me lose fat without compromising strength.
90 days in so far and I feel like my strength and stamina have skyrocketed back to levels that are inspiring me to keep coming back. I'm learning a new style of training that is filling in a lot of the gaps I had before. My core and stabilizing muscles have improved, and I feel stronger in general. BSP coaches are vigilant about watching my form, so I rarely end up feeling sore and i haven't injured myself while stacking more and more weight on the bar every week. Before coming here, I probably would have not attempted to deadlift or squat twice in one week, but this is a regular occurrence at BSP.
Happy I found BSP and canceled my membership at lifetime.

This is truly an amazing gym. I had my work cut out for me, trying to pass a very specific fitness test. I worked on my own and did not make the needed progress. I caused further discomfort to nagging injuries and increased my level of frustration, bringing my confidence down. I knew I needed guidance and took the plunge to join BSP. What a great decision. The initial consultation was thorough and all of the information and data gathered was used to draw up a very specific plan just for me. Everything at BSP is catered to what you want and need. The coaches are positive, humorous, and incredibly motivating. I was not convinced that I would ever pass the test, but I did! The level of accomplishment I felt was awesome and I felt like I had a whole group of people cheering me on as I went. Time at BSP is fun. The other people working out are super nice and the staff know their stuff.

I joined BSP almost 3 years ago and it was the best decision I have made for taking care of my body. Now 51, I am in better shape than I was 10 years ago when I retired from the Army. BSP has helped me address lower back, shoulder and hip issue that would make it a challenge for me to execute daily around the house chores. My son originally joined to get professional help for weightlifting for High School football. The experience he received was much more than we ever expected which prompted me to join and now my wife is a member. The coaches at BSP are there to assist you with meeting the goals you set for yourself. Their continuous efforts to improve their approach to benefit us is incredible. It is not your standard box gym and they treat you like family. If I am on work travel or can't get a scheduled wok out, I now feel like I have missed a crucial part of my day.

Beyond Strength Performance, NOVA is by far the best gym experience I've ever had, hands down. It is the antithesis of the "big box" gym experience. No one is aimlessly wandering from one machine to another - everyone who is there is focused on a specific strength and conditioning program that has been designed and written expressly for them - based on each individual's goals, limitations due to injuries or mobility issues, fitness proficiency level, etc. It's a friendly, uplifting, and encouraging environment with the most knowledgeable coaches I've ever encountered. BSP has a strong culture of learning - both from the owner and coaches who are constantly updating their knowledge base through attending and hosting conferences, to the clients who soak up the latest and greatest information and advice and use it to set and exceed their fitness goals on a regular basis. Whether you are an elite athlete who is at home in the gym, or if you're like me - your average garden variety middle-aged woman who didn't even know what a deadlift was before you started - if you are at all interested in improving or maintaining your physical health and in becoming a stronger fitter version of yourself - Beyond Strength Performance, NOVA is THE only place you want to go.

BSP NOVA is by far the best gym I have ever been to and it has completely changed my entire philosophy on working out for the better. The coaches are some of the best around not only the NOVA area, but the country over. They strive every day to make sure each and every client feels at home and understands their personally tailored workout so they can see the ultimate progress. What's more, they themselves are voracious learners and are constantly attending conferences or hosting seminars at the gym in order to always stay on top of the latest in exercise science. Whether you are an Olympic athlete or a stay-at-home parent you will feel right at home, because BSP NOVA is a legit family.
I myself tore my ACL back in 2011. For an entire two years I went through physical therapy and my own workout plans of what I thought were effective exercise regimens. As a member of the Air Force and an athlete since I was a toddler I thought I had it all figured out. I could not have been more wrong. When I got to BSP NOVA I could not fully straighten or bend my knee without tightness and pain. Now over 3 years later it's like I was never injured at all. Every month, Chris and the team sit down with me and tailor my workouts so that I can strive to reach my goals. I cannot thank them enough for everything!

Since being a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter and fighting for the UFC, I have had the pleasure of training at some of the top training facilities in the country. I have also worked with the most educated and well-known trainers in the strength and conditioning field, one of them being Chris Merritt at BSP Nova. I can honestly say that Chris Merritt and Todd Bumgardner are two of the most knowledgeable trainers I have met or had the pleasure of training with. They both have such a hunger to read and learn more about the body and the best training methods. This is what makes them both so amazing at what they do. People at Beyond Strength Performance not only meet their fitness goals, but they experience a better way of life through proper instruction of movement. These guys are incredible trainers and I would recommend them to anyone!!

I've been going to BSP for about half a year now. They've done wonders for my bad back (degenerative disc) as well as helped renew my enthusiasm for working out. The customized workouts and excellent trainer to athlete ratio are some other key reasons for my enthusiasm for Beyond Strength and Performance as well as its trainers.

I have been a member of BSP for about 2.5 years now and have never looked back! The staff/ coaches are so helpful and really take the time to make sure you not only understand how to do the exercise, but why you are doing them. If you have any injuries or illnesses they also take this into consideration when creating a personalized program suited for your personal wants and needs! This gym has become a second family to me and I love going there every single chance I get! I also love how clean and orderly the gym always is. The coaches always make sure everything is in order from the weights to the restroom and everything in between! I highly recommend this gym to everyone, no matter what your goals are, BSP is the best gym around!

Best experience at a gym so far. I'm always excited to go in for my work out. I love that the focus is on form and technique. I feel that this is a foundation of what makes a good athlete and the coaches are all about it. That doesn't mean it's boring, they are fun group of people to work with. And they make sure to keep your goals in mind and check in with you on your progress so they can keep you on track to be your best. Definitely check them out!

BSP is a 1st class facility. You won't find anyone better in the Northern Virginia area let alone the East Coast. My only knock is that they are not closer to my New Jersey chiropractic practice so I could send them more people!
