As a Founding Member, you might think I'm blowing smoke 🌬 The truth is, this place is great.

I have gone through multiple gym memberships over the years. Class focused. Personal trainers. Do-it-yourself. This is the first time I am meeting my goals, and happy with my progress.

I highly, HIGHLY suggest you come in to try out one of the classes. Cardio, weights... whatever you're into, there's a place for you here.

I have used this specific facility before however this morning I attempted to take the cardio summit class and it was very discombobulating to say the least. The class was overcrowded. The room was relatively small and they broke us up into three zones which had their own system!!!! I am not a regular member but i have taken these classes before but the format was much more linear and straightforward. This complaint is not directed at any one particular studio but at corporate in general. You cannot have a class of 20 to 30 people and run them around in different directions with music blasting at full volume and expect people to get their moneys worth out of the workout!!

I absolutely LOVE my gym. The owners and coaches are incredible, so supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely care about every member. The atmosphere is always positive and motivating, making it the best place to work out. I truly look forward to every session. Couldn’t ask for a better gym family!

Great gym for group fitness classes ranging from pure cardio to pure strength and everything in between. It’s nice to have a comprehensive workout program without having to think or plan at all - just show up and dial in! The heart rate monitor technology makes this super accessible for all fitness levels as you can calibrate your workout to your own abilities. Also love the and the coaches here; it’s a great and encouraging community!

I started with BFT doing the "8 week challenge" where you have access to nutritious recipes and Evolt body scans, in addition to the exercise classes. One of my main goals at that time was to force myself to do cardio -- which I've NEVER in my life have done regularly or loved. I ended up sticking with BFT after the 8 weeks because I liked it so much! I'm now doing cardio pretty regularly, ~2x/week, and it's getting easier as I get into the habit. I like that the classes run you through several different types of exercise (never boring) and the coaches are super nice. Highly recommend!

Those first few classes kicked my butt. And here I am, a year and a half later, and I can’t imagine my life without BFT Carytown. This is the most uniquely inclusive and encouraging gym I’ve EVER been to, and the programs work for people in all levels of fitness – for someone in their first-ever gym session to someone who has trained for years as an elite athlete – as well as all ages.

Each day alternates between cardio and strength training in a group fitness format but suited to your individual goals, using heart-rate technology. There’s a ton of variety and every day is completely different. You just show up and the coaches guide you through everything. They learn your personal abilities and help challenge you.

Since joining, my body composition has changed big time. I've dropped weight of course, and having access to the Evolt scanner has been super helpful for understanding my data points on such things as lean muscle mass and visceral fat and gives helpful nutrition information. But what really makes me most proud is how strong I feel. My conditioning and endurance are better than ever, and I'm part of an awesome community that celebrates each other’s wins. Big props to Nate, Katie, Heather, John, Allison, Drew, the other coaches, and the members for making this place so much fun.

I must say this place goes above and beyond! Classes have 2 - 3 trainers that are ready to help you with your form or when you need a little push/motivation. Also, you don't have to sign a crazy contract...it's month to month. I've been going for an about 6-7 weeks now and couldn't be happier. If you are looking for gym that will challenge you AND has a community vibe, this is your place.

Update: still at BFT Carytown 18 months later and almost 300 classes! Love it!

BFT has been an absolute amazing addition to my every day life! The coaches are full of knowledge, always willing to help, and keep the gym fun. With the scheduled classes being only 1 hour, you get a full workout but don’t feel that you’re at the gym for hours. The community at BFT is a 10/10! Everyone is so welcoming and supportive regardless of where you are in your fitness journey. Great atmosphere! The programming changes every 8 weeks with different areas of focus and improvement, which is nice for variety. The workouts are setup well and are less than an hour, so it is easy to go after work and still have time for other errands. Can't say enough about the coaches, they are knowledgeable and provide an inclusive, fun experience. The community is encouraging and welcoming as well!

Can’t say enough great things. First of all, there’s no contracts (which is amazing) but it’s because they know the workout is that good that you’ll want to keep coming regardless. The staff are amazing and encouraging, the atmosphere is unmatched, and the workout is tough but always changing and each one is so intentional! You feel included and welcomed no matter what level of fitness!! It’s a great addition to Richmond!

It's in a great location and parking was easy, the gym had a nice layout and plenty of great equipment, and all of the coaches were awesome (especially Heather). Blown away by this group training experience that seamlessly incorporated a personal training approach to a fun vibrant group experience better than any other in Richmond. The coaches were so amazing and encouraging. They were attentive and helped me adjust the workout to my level. I was so impressed with their ability to anticipate not only my needs but watching them work through the room knowing people by name and adjusting things for others as the workout progressed. I haven’t previously done much strength training and Coach Drew immediately helped spot as I reached the end of a press when I was starting to tire out. I was so appreciative and impressed at how in tune and attentive coaches need to be to recognize this in a fast moving workout. The environment was truly collaborative and I felt so encouraged by the group I was partnered with. The owner Coach Nate was there and he seemed so passionate about building up a great space for the Richmond community to have fun and reach new goals! He has really put together a great team and addition to the Richmond fitness scene!

Really beautiful welcoming space, perfect amount of variation in the workout sets and music that motivates the soul. BFT was such a fun experience. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the workout is definitely geared towards all levels of fitness. One of the best things about the workout was being able to see everything visually. You were able to see through the screens in front which workout you were doing, how to do it, how much time was left and which set you were on. On top of that, everything is tracked through a heart rate monitor which you can also see on the screens as well. In terms of all the boutique fitness classes I've done, BFT is definitely one of if not the best workout in Richmond.

I just started with BFT and I absolutely love it. The coaches are knowledgeable, the exercises are challenging but there are plenty of opportunities to modify for your own fitness level. Everyone is very encouraging and bring a positive energy with them. I love the heart rate monitors so I know if I’m working in the right “zone” for my body. The hour flies by because it is so much fun. I would highly recommend checking it out, it’s well worth it.

Been looking for training that helps build muscle to supplement with my biking and running. Lots of places do it but I haven’t seen the science and analytics anywhere else that I’ve seen with BFT. That’s important and makes a huge difference in measuring progress. Excited to see the new location closer to my house.
