Bowtai Fitness is a fitness, nutrition, and recovery company that takes care of every aspect of a client’s overall health. We create personalized training and nutrition programs to aid every client in reaching their goal in weight loss and strength gain. Our certified coaches provide fitness and nutrition services to ensure our clients are performing optimally and ready to take on anything and everything that life throws at them. We provide our services both in a private training studio and online. These environments allow us the flexibility to use different training methods to cater to different types of clients and goals.

I'm a regular client of Bowtai Fitness for over four years and have two one-hour sessions a week. I always look forward to my sessions with Brian and appreciate the time he takes to develop custom three-week programs that align to my fitness goals. Brian tracks my progress, history, and prioritizes safety while driving me to achieve new limits. I have seen results in how my body has changed over the years and how many of the day-to-day tasks in my life that were challenging are now very easy. In addition to physical training, Brian has a deep understanding and expertise of nutrition to layer on top of workouts. He also has a certified support staff to step in when there are changes to either of our schedules. I have complete trust in Brian and his staff with the operation of equipment and spotting around the gym. The District Barbell gym that Bowtai Fitness operates out of is a clean and safe environment. I've never felt like it was overcrowded when working out. There's also plenty of parking around the gym. If you’re looking to jumpstart your fitness level or pursue a dedicated path towards competitions, I highly recommend getting started with Bowtai Fitness.

The gym is bad, the people who work there are always in a bad mood, the pool and the whirlpool are closed and the tanning booth is damaged, I spoke to the manager and he treated me very badly, he doesn't help me cancel my membership, I'm leaving sad... please don't deduct money from my account anymore

It was February of 2023 when I decided I wanted to step into the year living a healthier lifestyle. I've work with Brian for about a year now! I was recommended to him for body building coaching. We've already been through our first competition season together and onto improvement season now. Brian is a master at his craft. In only a couple months I transformed from just over 200 pounds to 160 pounds. He is extremely knowledgable about both nutrition and exercise. Brian's expertise is the main reason why I was able to achieve high scores on my CFA and PFE (service academy physical tests) and without him I would not have been able to get an appointment to my dream school.

I was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome Sept of 2022 where I had to be hospitalized and was released Dec of 2022. I lost the ability to walk (on my own) and unable to use my hands as the paralysis hit only my limbs past the elbow and knee cap. On top of continuing with my outpatient physical & occupational therapy .. Brian has worked with me since the New Year. Every week Brian offered support and great guidance with different stretches, new exercises and techniques in order to begin regaining my muscles back in my arms and legs. I started off in a wheelchair and am close to switching from a walker to a cane now .. thankfully his facility is also fully handicap accessible! Right away, the moment you walk in, you just feel ready. The vibe is just right to get you to get going AND KEEP GOING! Brian has ABSOLUTELY been a vessel in my recovery journey. I would not have progressed as much as i have if it weren’t for this gym. Not to mention, Brian was in contact with my PT so they were in the know about what i was doing each week! I mean, COME ON.. doesn’t get better than that. A coach, a trainer who genuinely cares. I am grateful for Brian & BOWTAI FITNESS!! The fire in me is lit and i am excited to have both Brian and the gym and all it has to offer in my comeback story!

This trainer is by far the best one I have ever had! I have tried in gym trainers and they can not come close to the level of outstanding services I have had with this trainer. I currently do virtual training where I get my meal plan and work outs sent to me online. I need to be told brands and sizes on what to eat for my meal plans. Other companies I have used previous could not do this and they just gave me the numbers to stay in and what to eat but the trainer went above and beyond to provide the brands to use which helped me so much! Also the workouts are not just some paper I have to follow and try and figure out. There is a great app that show me everything I need with a video of each exercise with a written break down, schedule, and easy way to track my weights used. Communication between the trainer and myself is easy with breaking down my questions for workouts or about food he is quick to respond and always follows up on time with our check ins. I will continue to use this company until I hit my goals and honestly to help keep me at my goal. I struggled for a long time to find a company like this one and I'm so happy with them!

I used to be anxious (and a little skeptical) about investing in a personal trainer until I met Brian. Even before we had classes scheduled, Brian was laser focused on me and my partner's needs and interests. He was honest and amiable-- it felt like talking to a friend instead of a business owner.
I'm so glad we signed up to be coached by him and his team. He's quick to answer questions, helped me understand my muscle groups better, and always explains the purpose behind activities. I also loved that he provided a custom workout routine on a well organized spreadsheet for us to use.
The gym where he hosted us was also impeccable-- the people, culture, and equipment was top notch-- it felt like a second home in the short time we've been there. It's not easy to build up a welcoming environment and culture at a gym-- I think that speaks the most to Brian's character.

Brian, the owner, is razor sharp when it comes to fitness and nutrition and built separate plans for me and my husband based on our goals. In just a few weeks, we started seeing results. The facility is centrally-located and has everything anyone would need to train. I am challenged every single session. This gym gave me a boost of confidence and everyone who works out their or works their motivated each other and made it more then just a place for lifting. Instead, this was the one first time where I felt like I belonged somewhere. Where the environment made me feel motivated and at home. Without this gym I wouldn’t have met the people that I know today. So if you guys ever question about going to the gym or having insecurities, the people their will make you feel that you have none in the first place. This beats every commercial gym you know.

I discovered District Barbell during the pandemic, and quickly realized it is a hidden gem in the NoVA area. Aside from having all the equipment you desire at your fingertips, a supportive network of lifters, and amazing lighting, this gym offers one unique factor that you won't find elsewhere: Brian!
He is an excellent trainer that holds a wealth of knowledge when it comes to a variety of training styles. Whether he's coaching folks who are looking to become better athletes on a field, on a stage, or just to better their general health - he is THE subject matter expert.
When I had general questions about improving my warm up routine to include more dynamic stretches & focus on some problem areas, he was quick to offer his advice at length and took the time to dive into each stretch, offer additional tips, and follow up to ask if it was beneficial.
I highly recommend Brian to all my friends and family, and even coworkers. He held a virtual group fitness class for my entire office in the Spring. Not only was he on time, motivating, and excited, but he kept everyone engaged, which was tough considering most folks weren't too keen on turning on their cameras. I've done a lot of research on personal trainers in Northern Virginia and Brian is top notch! I stumbled upon Brian's business (Bowtai Fitness) on Reddit and reached out via email to ask some questions about his process. He got back to me quickly and answered my bajillion questions very thoroughly. He also suggested setting up a time to meet so I could tell him a bit more about my fitness goals and check out the gym.
Through our chat, it became clear that Brian takes a scientific approach to PT, is very safety conscious/is a stickler for form, and is very results-oriented. We also clicked on a personal-level, which is always nice to have with a trainer! I've been training with him for a few months and am very happy. I'll go into a bit more detail below.
Approach:
Brian created a custom program for me based on my fitness goals. It's all tracked and shared with me via Google docs. Every few weeks he switches up the program. I told Brian I also want to train a few days a week at home and he was extremely accommodating. He asked me to take a picture of my gym and equipment and he created workouts that worked for me and my situation. This is above and beyond in my opinion! I also appreciate that he takes a holistic approach by incorporating nutrition into the program. He gives me my macros and updates them every so often depending on my progress.
Facilities:
I really like Brian's gym! It's called District Barbell and it's located very close to the Mosaic District. It's very private. Usually there are only a couple of other people in there during my sessions. He has all the equipment I could ever want - and more. It's very clean and parking is easy.
Flexibility and Availability:
Brian is really flexible. It's truly a personal training program and he is happy to adjust the schedule, training, nutrition, etc. to you and your unique needs. He's also really accessible. He's very open to
communicating via text if you have questions about nutrition or training!
Obviously things are different now in the times of COVID19. However, Brian's flexibility is even more apparent during these times. He definitely has options to help you on your fitness journey remotely! He offers virtual PT sessions as well as killer group training sessions via Zoom a few times a week. He is also still helping me write custom programs for my home gym and checking in every now and then to see how I'm doing.

Brian was the perfect trainer to help me compete in my first bodybuilding competition. It was a bucket list goal of mine for the past few years, but as a mother of two who gained about 60 lbs post-pregnancy, I was very wary of making such a huge time and physical commitment. Working with Brian has been my best experience with a trainer. He provided me the knowledge of properly working out and dieting. Was always available when I had questions about what to do and things I was struggling with in the gym. What I like most about working with Brian is he takes time to sit with you and discuss goals and what you want to accomplish. I’ve never cared much for going to the gym, but I definitely enjoy working out with Brian. We started off by discussing what I really wanted to get for my efforts, and he built a plan that was challenging without being overwhelming. He keeps it fresh by injecting new exercises every session, and that keeps me interested and motivated. I’m also very impressed with Brian’s knowledge of body mechanics and nutrition, and his explanations of the “why” for everything I’m doing in the gym also keep me motivated and inspire me to push harder since I really understand what the purpose is. I can say without a doubt that this is the best fitness experience I have ever had. I hesitated to take the leap into having a personal trainer, but I am very glad I did!
