I joined Catalyst Fit in Richmond in January, coming from a very unhealthy lifestyle with high blood pressure, elevated blood sugar, and a weight of 194 lbs. I have been impressed with Catalyst Fit for sometime now. Not only do I train there (Trevor is great!) but I have sent many colleagues, friends and clients who have been pleased. I like the care they take with each person and how flexible they are with workouts. For example, I had a broken bone in my foot and they were able to work with that re:balnce and strength. I can't say enough good things about the Catalyst Fit gym and I believe the leadership on the part of the owners has been great!

Catalyst Fitness is awesome for all your workout goals. Trevor and Vic are great trainers and Jen is awesome keeping me on goal with my eating and setting milestones. Pre pandemic I gained muscle and lost 70lbs with Catalyst. Over Covid I gained back some weight but I’m already down almost 20lbs from January. I highly recommend if you are looking to get healthy through diet and exercise.

Jesse Kidd has been an excellent long distance nutritional coach for me since January of 2019. He is thorough, motivational, and educational. My challenge and desire is to monitor my blood sugar and lipids to avoid medication. So, with Jesse's help and encouragement I became much more active and also more conscious of what foods work best for my body chemistry to achieve these goals. Firstly, I began a predominantly KETO diet. For me, that was an easy transition. What Jesse helps me with is figuring out where I have some wiggle room and where I need to be very structured in my food intake. Our process is I share my lab reslts with him, he considers my periodic blood work results and makes recommendations on how to improve my numbers in key areas. In January 2019 my fasting glucose was too high and my AIC level was above high normal at 6.7. By April 2019 my fasting glucose had come down to 112 and my AIC level was 5.6 which is within normal limits. By December 2019 my fasting glucose was at 100. Also within normal limits. During this same time period my weight dropped from 162 to 147 most likely as a result of removing most simple carbohydrates and sugars out of my diet as well as increasing my level of activity. My triglicerides started at 297 in January of 2019, while I was on statins. I chose to take myself off of statins under the supervision of my doctor and by July 2019 my triglicerides were at 139, within normal limits. In January 2019 my HDL was at 52 but by December of 2019, that number had also improved to 71. It's a journey. And Jesse is a really good mentor and coach during the process. There are backslides at times. Jesse notes that the numbers are "creeping" up but in such a manner that you take note and redirect yourself. In short, I highly recommend Jesse's services.

I randomly found Catalyst fit while searching for nutrition help in the RVA area. I have been struggling to lose The 10 lbs that magically appear over the last 2 years. I was currently training 5-6 days a week and eating what I thought was a healthy diet. I knew I needed help with my nutrition. Catalyst has a top notch approach and are dedicated to their clients. The one on one attention is different from what I was used to. I had the pleasure of working with Jennifer and Trevor and cannot say enough great things. I first read about Catalyst Fit in the Richmond Newspaper a year ago. I had a health scare that really rocked me to the core and I decided it was time to change my approach to life. I started by putting myself first, but more importantly, putting my health first. I had always worked out, gone to the gym and stayed pretty active but those 50 extra pounds I had been carrying around for the past 25 years really did a number on my knees and it turns out, my heart. Like a lot of people I thought "more cardio, that's the secret" but really my whole approach was wrong. I wrote Jennifer and asked if they worked with clients like me, middle aged, overweight males who really wanted to change but did not know where to start. She and Jesse encouraged me to come in and talk. After about an hour of discussing their approach I decided to sign up. Hell, I was heading to an early grave so what did I have to loose? Turns out, plenty. Those nagging 50 dropped off, my knees are still sore but I can bend them and don't wear a brace anymore. Truthfully I feel a whole lot better. I can't say it's been easy, its not supposed to be but I like working out again. Every workout builds on the last one I did. Jesse, Jennifer and Tim do a wonderful job of teaching people the right way to work out and how to incorporate all sorts of routines into their workouts so they don't get stale. So if your reading this and trying to decide if you should give it a try. Don't wait until you end up in the ER with an out of pocket deductible that equals the cost of a couple of really nice vacations. Go ahead and give it a try, you just may end up saving a little more then what money can buy, maybe you'll save your life!

The workout programs are thoughtfully assembled to meet your current level of fitness, while progressing and challenging you to the level you would like to attain. The best hings in life typically cost more. You can go the "old gym" route and be surrounded by people talking and posing or you can make the investment in yourself, get after it an hour at a time, a few days a week with a professional trainer and get in the shape of your life. I had a great experience with the team at Catalyst Fit. I had Jennifer take me through the whole process of testing and getting started and then Jesse was great as my trainer. It was good to go in and get started back on the right track. I stay in decent shape, but was ready to get back in the gym and start lifting weights again. This was the perfect solution as I started out by getting my testing done and having a baseline to go off of. No more guessing how much I need to eat each day to reach my goals and the monthly testing to show that I was actually gaining muscle and losing fat even though the scale didn't always show it. Once my testing was done, I came in to see Jesse once a week to get put through a workout. He does an excellent job of explaining each movement and then making sure that you are doing the reps perfect. The last thing you want is to get injured doing the moves the wrong way. He set me up with a complete take home workout routine, so that I could continue my progress at my gym once he was confident I could perform the moves correctly. Overall, I had a great experience and would highly recommend their services.

It's rare for me to write online reviews but I have to give love to Jesse and Jen. I met both of them in 2015 at the Gold's Gym where Jen was a manager and Jesse a trainer. I was getting into fitness seriously and was looking then for a "trainer's trainer", someone who is knowledgeable (scratch that, OBSESSIVE) about proper form because I wanted to learn the foundational movements properly and lift weights for the rest of my life.

That's how I found Jesse and trained with him for about 20 hourlong sessions. I was in debt up to my nose but I think I made an excellent investment. This man knows fitness cold. He was the trainer that other trainers would go to with their questions. One of them called Jesse "the professor".

The new gym concept that he and Jen have put together is simply outstanding. The gym is beautiful in a minimalistic design and it has everything you'll need for body recomposition. Let's face it. Losing fat, building muscle and gaining strength is why most of us go to the gym and the analytical perspective and setup that Jen and Jesse have put together is simply the best that I've seen for accomplishing these goals. And I've looked very hard, personally visiting and working out in half a dozen gyms in the Richmond area.

As a man who is obsessed with fitness I honestly think this team rocks.

Jesse Kidd is an excellent personal trainer, very knowledgeable in his craft. During the initial interview, he listens and helps develop a thorough plan to accomplish your goals with nutrition recommendations as well. He is careful to take any medical issues into consideration. He is easy to talk to during workouts, explains and demonstrates all exercises very well. He makes sure to find out whether one has had any ill effects from the previous training session and if so, makes good recommendations on treatment and then works around them during the current session. Jesse makes training as fun as possible and he gets results.
