Training with Alex has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

I suffer from back issues as a result of high school sports that left me experiencing recurring flair ups. Despite injections and going in and out of physical therapy for years, nothing seemed to work. That is, until I met Alex.

Alex designed a program that not only accommodated my limitations--given my chronic condition--but put me on a path to overcome those limitations entirely. Now, after training with Alex for a year and a half, I feel stronger than I ever have and my back pain is all but gone!

I have been working with Alex for about 5 months and after having had a couple of personal trainers I have found this guy is the one. He doesn't just force any old routine you can find on YouTube! He personalizes every session to meet you where YOU are at. I have been attending Chalkback for a little more than a month now. I have to say that I am amazed at my progress. My biggest obstacle to success in the gym has been injuries. I have tried to self manage for years with little success. But in the short time I have been working with coach Alex I have been given the answer sheet, as it were, to that pain management. I can now lift confidently pain free and overall move through life feeling healthy. As someone with shoulder, back, knee, and ankle injuries; being able to go to the gym pain free is the biggest win I could have hoped for! Choosing to train with Alex has been one of the best quality of life and health decisions I have ever made. Over the past six years I have had a history of recurrent back muscle spasms. Alex and I have been training together since last winter, I was ready to get back into lifting but, was hesitant after a knee injury that took me out of the gym for over a year. We started with lots of PT warm ups which told me he knows what he’s doing, as a massage therapist I really appreciate the attention he pays to body mechanics. What can I say about Alex? Before I came to see him 1 year ago I was lifting without guidance and bouncing from injury to injury. I told him that I wanted to do a powerlifting competition before I turned 50. He has worked with me to rebuild my technique and improve my mobility. Before I couldn’t bench press over 165 pounds without severe shoulder pain, now I can bench 200 pain free. Alex truly understands how to train intelligently which is super important for a middle aged man. My first powerlifting meet is in 3 weeks and I feel great. Alex is hands down the BEST trainer I have ever worked with. I have worked with trainers off and on for nearly 25 years. Alex is more knowledgeable and engaged than anyone I’ve ever worked with. Even in my mid-to-late 40s I have lost significant body fat and gained crazy amounts of strength and muscle mass for someone my age. We have increased range of motion in my long injured hip to where I can do deep squats - something I have not been able to do for decades. When we started I did not have the mobility in my shoulders to take a bench press all the way to my chest. I can now routinely bench over 200lbs for reps and that number continues to climb. If you are serious about getting strong and gaining better overall health and conditioning, you should definitely work with Alex!
