BEWARE! The classes and instructors are great but their business practices are shady. They haven't been open long and already are receiving complaints on the Better Business Bureau-today I added mine.
I have been emailing with the Manager of Club Pilates in East Chester. I advised them that I wanted to cancel my membership-it wasn't cancelled and I was told I didn't fill out the correct form and would still be responsible for the 7/16/25 payment. I submitted the form and have been charged for 8/16/25, 9/16/25, and 10/16/25. I do not live in this state any longer and haven't since July. Moreover, despite the charges, I am not having any credits added to my account-I still have the same 8 unused credits since July. I want my money refunded to the credit card on file immediately.
I'll be updating this review routinely with the responses I'm receiving (or not receiving). Completely open to amending this based on the outcome. I'm expecting emails from the Manager and the BBB.

I just recently visited this location on Sunday for an intro class and Kim was awesome! The environment was very relaxing and nice! I do plan on getting a membership soon.
They also introduce you to their app where you can easily book your future classes whether individually or packages.
I will definitely be back!

I strongly advise against using their services. I was extremely disappointed with the service I received. The representative explaining the membership packages was unprofessional and made assumptions and comments without any knowledge. It was surprising to learn “that women are not allowed to serve in the military, only men”.

I submitted my cancellation request on August 28, 2025, while my account was on freeze. The studio is requiring me to pay a $99 monthly membership fee before processing my cancellation, although the $25 freeze fee has been paid and the account isn’t due to be unfrozen until October 5. I reviewed my contract carefully, and there is no language stating that a frozen account must be billed at the full membership rate during the cancellation period. I asked the studio for clarification in writing, but they have not provided a contract reference. They are relying on “policy” NOT stated in the signed agreement.
I will be disputing any charges and filing complaints with the Virginia Attorney General’s Office and BBB because this practice does not appear to align with the signed agreement.
I would encourage anyone considering a membership here to review the cancellation terms very carefully before signing. No where does it state you have to be active with a non frozen account in order to cancel.

I’ve loved Pilates for years, and always wanted to take reformer classes, but I like the flexibility of going to the gym whenever I want and was nervous about having to commit to a certain time slot. I have lupus, and never know how my body will feel, so was a bit skeptical. Membership can be cost prohibitive, but it’s an investment in my health and quality of life, and I’m worth it. I jumped in and took the intro class early this year and it’s been on ever since. It’s the challenge I know my body needs, but it doesn’t pound your joints. I’m leaner, stronger, more flexible, and I’ll be hitting my 100th class soon!!
I do early mornings, so shout out to Jarissa, my primary instructor. That soft, calm, voice fooled me for a few weeks…don’t get it twisted, it’s 5 or 6 am, but she will WORK you! I’m with Jessica on Sundays for Center & Balance which is a nice stretch and reset for the week! She’s so talented, and I never know what she’s going to pull out of her bag of tricks. Adore her. And Kim is great, the little powerhouse she is.
10/10 highly recommend.

Worseeee experience ever that GM is horrrible , rude and just plain out disrespectful! I can go on & on about him and his behavior!!! … the app is not at all convenient or user friendly !! If for what ever reason u were unable to use a day before the billing cycle you loose it, which is ridiculous only one person is able to do most of the important stuff like and he he takes a million years to get back to you it’s just terrible ! every week it’s a new instructor, Classes are boring and gives you back pain because no one knows what they are doing !!! Just stay away !!! Terrible place !!!!!!!! Ughh I’m no annoyed

I was a member of Club Pilates East Chester for six months, and I would’ve stayed if the studio actually delivered on what I was promised. When I joined, I was told classes ran from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. I made it clear that I was interested in early afternoon, and was assured those were part of the schedule. In six months, not once did I see a single early afternoon class offered.
When I raised this concern with RJ, the general manager, I was told those classes were “tried” but no one signed up. Really? When were they offered? For a week? There was zero communication. They were never on the app or visible on the schedule, so how exactly were members supposed to sign up for a class they didn’t know existed?
The studio shuts down every day around lunchtime and doesn’t reopen until 4 p.m.—and when it does, the first class is usually an intro. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are half-days, and the most convenient time slots? Taken over by intro classes, too. If I wanted to take an evening class, I had to either sit around the area and waste time or go home and come all the way back.
And then there’s the cancellation process, which RJ has made intentionally difficult. He is the only one allowed to cancel memberships, yet he’s unresponsive to calls, doesn’t answer emails, and conveniently “missed” my cancellation request, forcing me to pay for an additional month. When he finally replied, his tone was disrespectful, argumentative, and frankly unprofessional. I’ve heard how he speaks to the young women at the front desk so I wasn’t surprised but still unacceptable.
As for the studio itself? For a new business, it’s not well-maintained. The mirrors are filthy. Dust and hair collect like it’s part of the decor. Cleanliness is clearly not a priority. When I mentioned this to the GM he said classes go on all day and to expect hair. Whatever, it’s clear the studio isn’t cleaned professionally.
The instructors- Incredible. The workouts-Solid. And Chase and Anayia at the front desk are absolute gems—warm, welcoming, and professional every single time. They are the only reason I held on as long as I did.
But no matter how good the instructors are, no one should have to fight this hard to get what they pay for. Until Club Pilates East Chester addresses its poor communication, inflexible schedule, and wildly unprofessional management, I cannot recommend this location to anyone.

Update: Had a phone call with RJ who chose to be petty rather than provide good customer service. He resorted to playing word games and cutting me off until I got mad then proceeded to tell me “I can come out of character”. I invited him to please come out of character so I could get him on a recording with how he deals with customers. He then decided to back off from that sorry little threat and falsely say there is a $99 cancellation fee and told me I should check my contract and that he was doing me a favor by “waiving the fee” instead of giving me my refund. Checked my contract. Section 7…there is no cancellation fee if you cancel with a 30 day notice. Looks like after a 3 week back and forth with this sorry excuse for a manager, I’ve gotta file a fraud claim with my bank anyway.
I saw this statement on another review and I cannot echo it enough. “ Until Club Pilates East Chester addresses its poor communication, inflexible schedule, and wildly unprofessional management, I cannot recommend this location to anyone.” Not only is scheduling ridiculously inconvenient, the freeze and cancellation process is as well. When I first started Pilates (the intro class), the GM, RJ, tried his best to present as a guy who is just such a “girls girl” (red flag #1). When questions were asked about the freeze and cancellation process, he glossed over it saying things like, “oh girl, its so easy. After the first 3 months, just let us know if you want to freeze or cancel and we can get that done for you. There are no fees for cancellation or freezing.” Here’s what he didn’t share. When cancelling, you have to request a link, fill it out at least 2 weeks before the next billing cycle and RJ is sure to freeze your account 14 days BEFORE the next billing cycle which doesn’t allow you to use all your classes even if you already had them booked and you’ve already paid for them. With cancelling, same thing. Once it is processed, you lose those classes. So that 30 day notice you have to give them (aka the amount of time before the next billing cycle hits your account) means that you pay your monthly subscription and then can’t use what you just paid for. So there is technically a cancellation fee and a freeze fee because you can’t access the classes you’ve already been charged for.
That lack of transparency wasn’t even my last straw. Here’s what has pushed me to make this review and ultimately go through the hassle of cancelling my membership. They keep your card on file and can charge it for any one time purchase at any time. So, that’s what they did. An employee charged my account for a small and medium tank top (I am 5’10” and 215 pounds). Once I saw the charge (4-5 weeks later) I mention it at my next class thinking easy peasy, they will apologize for the mistake and refund my money. NOPE. They say sorry, I see the charge and I understand why you wouldn’t have made that purchase. Only RJ can issue refunds so I will leave him a note. A week goes by, crickets. I call again. Another week goes by, still crickets from RJ. I call again and say at this point I’m considering the charge intentional and fraudulent since he’s refusing to call me back over this 3 week span and I know he’s been at the location because my friend has seen him at her classes. Well once I leave THAT message, he magically calls me in 2 days, says he won’t refund the charge, it’s a “he said she said”, and I’m not beyond the return window. $78.66 in tank tops that I’ve never seen or tried to purchase. This guy bops around in his expensive car and can’t even refund a customer who was incorrectly charged. Not call them back until at least 3 weeks has gone by to ensure he can use “policy” to deny a refund.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE believe these poor reviews because they are accurate. If you are banking on never having an issue, go ahead and sign up. But beware that the minute anything goes slightly awry, RJ will ghost you, at least one receptionist will give you an attitude about it, and you’ll have to deal with disputing charges through your bank. SMH.

I was excited to see Club Pilates come to this area—and even more excited to learn it’s a minority-owned business. I joined before the studio officially opened and have been a member since.
While I understand the studio is still in its first year, it’s important to share both the highlights and areas for improvement.
The instructors are fantastic. Ras and Jessica are my favorites—they bring great energy and variety to every class. Jarissa and Erica also lead well-planned classes that provide a solid workout. Chase at the front desk is always warm and welcoming; her smile truly lights up the studio.
I haven’t taken many classes with Kim because several members have raised concerns about safety during her sessions, including people falling or getting hurt.
The studio itself often feels unclean. There’s visible hair on the reformers, and it rarely smells freshly cleaned. It doesn’t appear that a professional cleaning service is used. Mats seem to only be wiped down by members, which isn’t enough for a shared workout space.
Class times are also not ideal. Many prime-time slots are taken up by intro classes, making it difficult for long-term members to book. Despite the space being large enough to run two classes at once, the schedule feels limited. I would have continued my membership if the class times were more accommodating.
Lastly, the general manager lacks professionalism. I’ve experienced inconsistent communication, unfulfilled promises about class offerings, and unclear or shifting policies. The cancellation process is frustrating and feels unnecessarily difficult. I was forced to keep my membership for an extra month because the manager claimed I didn’t submit my cancellation in time—even though I had reached out and he simply didn’t respond promptly.

The instructors here are great and I enjoyed every class I attended. Unfortunately the company charged my card on file stating I no showed for classes I never signed up for. When I made them aware the manager said it was a "glitch" in their system. It has now happened a second time and I was informed there was never a glitch and that I was charging for missing a class that I never signed up for . Their own app never showed any of these missed classes and I never received email confirmations like I did for every class I ever actually booked. They blamed it on poor training on the staff but some how I'm still out of my money for "no showing" classes I never signed up for. Was instructed to email the company my concerns only for them to repeat what was already said on the phone over and over again dragging out for weeks. Mind you this is all over $40. I pay $233 a month for my membership so you would think they would resolve this to keep getting $233 since I enjoyed coming here but no they'd rather LIE AND SCAM. BUYER BEWARE.

It’s weird , I had great rapport with staff over the phone but when I went in for introductory class it was the opposite. There was no “hello”, there was no organization, there was no proper check in, each staff member look me dead in my face and never said a word. I put on a five minute to give some grace after waiting 11 minutes just to check in. Before timer went off, I can see two of the three employees caught on to unprofessionalism and asked “have you been helped” knowing the answer. I said , no I haven’t and said I changed my mind. Obviously they never said anything to the marketing team on my reasons for leaving. I received call stating “I didn’t show up to the class and if I wanted to reschedule”. I explained I was there I had a great desire, readiness to start immediately and I had to wait for this availability in this class just to be devalued was sad because I already got clearance to participate. She ok thank you for sharing. So you have been warned and should check yelp reviews.

This is going to sound dramatic but Pilates has actually changed my life. I signed up for the unlimited plan (for a discount) months before the studio opened in hopes I would love it and I have absolutely no regrets. I’ve been coming consistently for almost 5 months now and the changes in my body I can feel and see are so, so worth it. Love the instructors, love the girls up front, love the studio and what Pilates has done for me. I recommend it to any and everyone any time the topic comes up. If you hate exercise and are uncomfortable in gyms, this is seriously such a game changer!

While this pilates studio is friendly. The instructors do not know the name of the pilates movement. Example: they take more time describing a Pilates V or a wide Pilate V then just saying it. Doing the 50 minute class time you may do 35 minutes exercise.

I absolutely love this Pilates studio! My favorite instructor is Clare. She is very polished, clearly experienced, informative, and varies the moves with each class. I love that she alternates using all of the equipment, so that it never feels redundant or predictable. Clare is great about telling us why we are doing the moves she has selected, what areas they’re targeting, and she pays very close attention to each participant with modifications and corrections along the way. She’s also firm, which I want in an instructor because you trust that she’s in control and knows what she’s doing. On top of that, Clare seems to come to class with the lesson thoughtfully prepared. She has a pre-made plan and she guides you through it, making sure to cover all the muscle areas (which I respect as a teacher myself). You aren’t just working out with Clare — she’s teaching you all about Pilates! A+
I also love everyone else that works there. The manager, RJ, knows everyone by name and makes a point to speak to each of us. The girls at the desk are the sweetest too. I’m so happy to be a member! It has quickly become my happy place!
