I recently had the chance to spend time at Connection Wellness in Annandale, and it was such a great experience. Rachel, the owner, is wonderful—she even welcomed our MovementX team to host an event in their beautiful facility. The space is clean, well-equipped, and really welcoming.

As a physical therapist, it’s very important for me to know the best personal trainers in the area, and I’m pleased to say that Rachel and her team are fantastic. The trainers are knowledgeable, kind, and clearly dedicated to helping clients reach their goals.

I am a huge fan of CWC and the entire trainer team.

At CWC, I’ve finally learned that exercise can be something I look forward to!

I’ve never been very athletic, and I’ve struggled with strength and balance my whole life. When I hired a trainer at a big gym years ago to lose weight before my wedding, I put up with the experience but didn’t enjoy it. I was always sore and didn’t feel listened to when I expressed concern about whether I had the strength to try a particular exercise.

CWC is different. From our very first meeting, Rachel (and later Julita, and now Dion) took my fitness goals seriously, even though they were somewhat unusual. Drawing on their extensive expertise, the trainer team carefully watches my progress and adapts to what I can do—pushing me to constantly get stronger through thoughtfully modulated exercises that build on each other over time. Dion and the other trainers are especially mindful of injury and overexertion, and they listen if I say I need a break or to move to a different exercise. For the first time in my life, I don’t leave the gym feeling sore and grumpy. And guess what? Because I am not utterly exhausted, I find that I want to come back for my next session to keep making getting stronger and more stable. It’s been a year and a half, and I’m still coming back!

As one last example of the level of personalized attention CWC delivers, I’m still able to attend my workouts with Dion at almost 9 months pregnant (he’s carefully researched the most safe and effective exercises), as well as Saturday mobility classes (a lifesaver for my stiff pregnant hips, back, and pelvis). I plan to keep coming back postpartum! These workouts have become an important part of my routine. They make me feel more capable to do everything I need to do in life. And also, I’ve made friends!

Words can't express how amazing it is to be a client here. Having worked with many different personal trainers, I can tell you Connection Wellness is the perfect fit for me. From my initial consultation with Charlie to where I am now, I couldn't have done it without him. He pushes because he knows what I am capable of even if I don't think I am, but he also listens and modifies workouts when I am struggling. He never asks what my goal is, but what OUR goal is.

But this place is so much more than just the one-on-one with your trainer...the entire team is a support system. Rachel always checks in to see how my experience is going and if there are any suggestions. Dion and Matt (while not my direct trainers) are also there supporting and encouraging you to be your best self. You can't help but feel that you are part of a family and positive support system.

Charlie trains me with weights and he pays close attention to my positioning and movements. He offers incredibly helpful adjustments, activation techniques, stretches and strength training points. He changes my hand position on a bar or shows me a way to activate a muscle group thereby making it possible for me work out in ways I never have before. I love how he pays close attention to my movement and he teaches me how to get stronger.

Matt at Connection Wellness Center is fabulous! He’s really knowledgeable! He individualized the program based on my goals and abilities. I am 77 years old and I completely trust that he understands my physical limitations and how to work around them. I needed to get up and be active which I was having a hard time doing by myself. I am a retired psychologist, but still doing part time counseling. I came in looking to lose weight, build strength, and get back into shape. I found out that I really need to work on balance and flexibility as I age. I was struggling with self-discipline so having someone running through the exercises with me has really helped me stick with it. Owners and employees are very helpful with insuring that class members have proper equipment. Nothing extravagant, but the correct stretch bands and weights. They pay attention to time. And, for none of the exercises or movements do you need to get on the floor. No big deal but that can be uncomfortable and take time to get up and down. A good and convenient 1/2 hour workout.

I have had several personal trainers and a lot of PT but nothing like what I have received from Rachel Martin at Connection Wellness Center. She is knowledgeable, encouraging, motivating and really listens to what I want to accomplish with my fitness goals. Rachel is always thinking and stays right with me, correcting form and explaining what we do and why. She is engaging and keeps things fresh, fun and always safe. Rachel is an expert on how the body works and knowing what exercises to do to strengthen certain areas  or heal aches and pains. I have received great results

Following knee surgery and PT I needed more help to boost leg strength -- the ski season beckons of course. It was time to get serious and surrender to trained pros after years of DIY exercising that often resulted in more harm than good due to imperfect technique. I landed at Connection Wellness Center with Cody and couldn't be more pleased. I'm building my leg strength and seeking his help with even more -- stretching, upper body, core, etc. I'm not only feeling great but having a great time on this "journey," as Cody is a lot of fun, motivating, and knows his stuff through and through. I'm not aching with injuries after hard workouts, just tired but eager to return to the next session. I could say more (his workouts can be incredibly simple, and incredibly helpful) -- just do it. Just taking a moment to share the thoughtful workouts that Cody Evans taught me as I was recovering from a neck and back issues. He made sure each session was built to push me but never hurt me. For each session he did want to see how far he could push me and knew when enough was enough. I will tell you my tolerance got better and my stamina improved over the several weeks/months that we trained together. Would highly recommend Cody Evans and his "let's see how you feel today" techniques. I physically and mentally feel better because of what I have put into my workouts but he showed me so much more.

Connection Wellness Center (CWC) staff does an excellent job, not just putting its clients thru workouts, but helping them understand the relationships and connections of muscles, soft tissue and bones found within the human body. Any trainer can put individuals thru a program, CWC staff works with its clients to understand what is going on to get the individuals to the next level, physically and mentally.

My trainer Kaitlin has worked with me overcome injuries and physical / mental limitations for my improvements. She listens to me and my body and knows how to get the maximum output from me in our sessions. Her educational background in physical therapy is essential for those of us that have injuries from lifetime of sports and active living.

I look forward to our sessions, and the homework that is assigned. When on travel or other events that don’t allow me to attend schedule sessions, I can tell a noticeable change in mental and physical wellness. It quickly rebounds once back in the CWC studios.

Cody is a terrific trainer!!! I was a client of his at a different gym. He loves what he is doing and is very knowledgeable and totally dedicated. I wanted to share my experiences working with Cody as my personal trainer. I had both my knees replaced in January 2022 and started working with Cody in March 2022. I am happy with my progress thanks to Cody. Every session, Cody came prepared with new exercises designed to challenge me and encourage me at the same time. Besides doing exercises using the equipment available at the training site, he also provided ones that I could do on my own at home without equipment, and also a plan when I came in for my own individual training without a trainer, for upper body and core. I highly recommend Cody as a personal trainer!

The connection wellness center staff are amazing especially Rachel. Rachel helped me with rehab after my acl/meniscus surgery and I was able to get back playing with confidence in no time. She was very flexible schedule wise and even did online session that greatly helped. The main thing I appreciate was that she show me how to do the exercise but also explained why we were doing it and how it would help me.
