I was REALLY nervous walking into the gym today. David was friendly and made me feel at home. His instructions were clear even to a new comer. And his enthusiasm was exactly what I needed. My first ever CrossFit class was incredible.

Coach Ruben does a great job coaching the Sunday barbell class. He has a well thought out warmup that is effective for getting athletes safely warmed up and ready for Olympic lifting. Coach Ali always does a great job instructing the morning classes and getting you to put in your best effort, no matter what that may look like for the day. She's very attentive to every member of the class, providing cues to help improve your movement patterns as well as scaling options to get the intented stimulus of the workout, no matter where you are in your fitness journey. Even as I was recovering from wrist surgery, she adjusted workouts to my needs allowing me to stay fit and engaged, and eventually returning to full capacity with very little drop-off.

I've been a member of Crossfit Kingstowne for nearly 8 years now and I couldn't be happier to have found this community of like-minded individuals. Not only are the members welcoming and supportive, but they know how to have fun as well.

No matter what the day has in store for me, I try to start every morning at Crossfit Kingstowne. I know I'll be provided with a great workout and I'll leave feeling better because of it.

Ali always runs a fun and effective class. She takes us through a comprehensive warm up focused on the areas to be utilized during class. The strength portion of classs usually follows the warm up although not always. Ali always provides clear direction and demonstrates the proper movement and scaled options for the strength and metcon portions of class. She takes the time to check in and provide feedback for everyone in class. She also is aware of each members strengths and areas of concern, she makes sure that if you are nursing any injuries or soreness to provide options.

Wanted to join this CrossFit box after moving to Northern Virginia due to its location relative to where I live. After countless unanswered emails, Facebook messages left on read, Instagram messages left on read, and phone calls with voicemails, I decided to look elsewhere. This box may be phenomenal, but in terms of customer service, it was quite possibly the worst I’ve ever had to deal with in terms of a business, in my life. This gym is extremely well-run. The classes begin and end on time. The equipment is in good shape, and the gym is well-stocked. The owner is involved, thoughtful, and is constantly making improvements to the gym and the schedule. The coaches are all excellent - I don't go as often as I "should' or would like to sometimes, and I have still seen improvement in my performance. The gym community is warm and welcoming. As hard to end your monthly membership as golds gym. Harder, actually. At least golds has people answering the phone, despite the Byzantine cancellation process. Good luck trying to get literally anyone to respond to an email or phone message. Moving? Schedule change and you can’t make classes? Decide to take break from the $200/mos expense? The correct response is clearly to jUst continue paying them - it’s a donation to their bottom line, really.

I have been a member at CrossFit Kingstowne since Sept 2015, and I can positively say it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Prior to CrossFit I was fairly out of shape, a former smoker, binge drinker, unhealthy eater, sedentary desk jockey. I had no experience with a barbell, let alone any Olympic lifting. The knowledgeable staff at CFK spent lots of time upfront to teach me (and all the new people) the basics of all the CrossFit movements so I could work out safely. The programming is challenging yet fun, the coaches are attentive and knowledgeable, and the community is extremely welcoming and motivational. It’s been 2+ years and I can honestly say I am stronger, healthier, and happier than I have ever been; and I have made some amazing lifelong friends all thanks to CrossFit Kingstowne.

I used to say I love CF because I like to pick up heavy things and throw them down (you know that feeling too!), but now I know it's also because I miss the people if I'm out of class for too long. Having done CrossFit for almost 9 years in the Alexandria area, the past 3 of which have been at CF Kingstowne, I can wholeheartedly recommend CFK. Great facility, attentive & knowledgeable coaches, great WOD programming and a super-friendly community of members, CFK has it all.

The old review by Brian E is completely off the mark and smacks of either someone with a grudge against CrossFit or a troll (he only leaves 1-star, equally unintelligent reviews). There's zero chance that he actually ever did a workout at CFK as what he describes simply doesn't happen at CFK.

Not sure what Brian Engeldrum is talking about, I've been a member since they opened and previously the box the owner grew this box from. They have a foundations course that each member must go through before they are allowed to start the normal classes, and they also have open gym that trainers are available at for any extra help if you ask for it...but you have to ask. They also make sure new members scale weight so as to not get hurt and to make sure they know what they are doing. If Mr. Engeldrum felt that he didn't get the attention he wanted on the movements the responsibility for that is likely on him because coaches are there for you if you ask for extra help.
