I was visiting the city and decided to stop by this gym for a workout. I’m so glad I did! The class was super fun, and David, the coach, was amazing. He gave me really helpful feedback during the strength portion and even lent me some of his own gear when I realized I’d forgotten mine. That small gesture made such a big difference. I wouldn’t have finished the WOD without it! Incredible gym and great vibes all around! I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in town!

This box has a wonderful community. It was my first experience at a 24 hour access gym and I loved it. Traveling between time zones was tough, and this helped a lot. I always stopped here as soon as I landed and got a little workout in . The workouts were a huge negative-they are overly complicated. I have paid dues at 30+ boxes around the country- High level gyms don't program like this, the sis ego programming. The Girls and Hero WODs are 1-3 movements for a reason. When I would speak to other members at the gym about a previous days workout-We all did it different. Even the coaches could not understand the WODs. Hopefully this is good feedback.

Tried really hard. Hit myself in the face with the bar. Threw up a little. Cried. 5/5 would die again

So my review has nothing to do with the coaching or gym. As a traveler and drop in person I find it very difficult to sign a waiver that requires me to be Covid vaccinated. The biggest problem is you have to pay before hand. Then sign the waiver before you can ever even see the class schedule! I have contacted the gym via email and messenger trying to cancel the transaction but there has been no response! Not my kind of gym!!!

I am so grateful for this gym! I remember years ago walking into a class hoping to find a new workout routine and change it up a little, and it ended up changing my life. When I joined, I had zero CrossFit experience. I didn’t know what to expect but not only I stayed, my husband works out with me now, and it became an integral part of our lives. Here is where the gym stands out -

Programming - offers the highest level of programming. I hear it from every person who drops in from another gym or area. Dynamic, result driven, scalability, enjoyable and leads to real results. When I started, I had to use two green bands on pulls ups. I can now do up to 100 in a work out. I couldn’t even dream of being upside down, not to mention performing handstand push ups or movements like toes to bar.
Coaching - incredible coaching. I still have the same coaches as I joined years ago so the quality of coaching is consistent. Professional, knowledgeable in the field, insightful and simply great people with a great sense of humor.
Community - CrossFit was always about community but I didn’t join thinking I would make friends for life! It is harder to connect with people later in life on a deep level, and I am thankful for every friend I made. It is also amazing to watch all levels of fitness present in the gym. Adaptive athletes, pregnant women, people recovering after an injury or illness - every level is welcomed and while the programming is challenging, it allows to adjust to your current level, mood or state.
Variety of classes - this gym offers so much! Barbell classes, skills classes, nutrition programming, yoga just to name some, and the owners continually invest in improving and adding new equipment and fun activities designed to make you a better and healthier athlete.
Thank you, Adam and Jen! I moved many times in my life but this is the first time I am worried about moving again because it will be very hard to find a place to work out as amazing as the NBHD.

I can’t fully put into words how great this gym is. From appropriate class sizes to supportive/ fun community, this Box checks all the …boxes… There are some amazing athletes that train here, and as a schlub of a human being myself, watching them battle it out while feeling fully supported by the coaches in scaling my workouts is what makes this place so great. One of the main things I’ll miss about Alexandria when I move away is how many intense workouts I’ve had here at NBHD and how many amazing people I’ve met along the way. The only negative is that I’ve never been asked out on a date by one of the coaches, but I guess I’ll get over that.

The NBHD is the best neighborhood gym in Old Town. Great coaches, an extremely supportive community and workouts that push you to and past your limits. Thanks Adam and Jen!

I can't recommend NBHD enough! The coaches are great —knowledgeable, supportive, and always focused on helping you improve. The programming is top-notch and well-balanced, which has helped me make huge strides in higher-skill gymnastics, Olympic lifts, and overall strength.

The community here is amazing; everyone is so welcoming and encouraging, no matter your fitness level. It truly feels like a second home, and the positive environment makes training something to look forward.

If you're looking for a gym where you'll feel supported while pushing your limits, this is the place. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

After being a member at this for 2+ years, here is my review:

The Good:
-Adam (gym owner) has great WODs and programming. His programming (and the gym in general) is for higher end CrossFit athletes but scaling is ‘available’.
-Some of the coaches are very nice and helpful.
-WODs are publicly available!

The Bad:
-The box (as most gyms suggest) claim that it is for all types of people but it is not. This is a community for people who want to compete in CrossFit but not for the regular Joe. There is limited opportunity nor engagement unless somebody is interested in serious comps.
-The nutrition “service” available is exactly what you pay for - not very useful for a cheap service.
-The coaches have a rotating door with little consistency of staff other than owner.
-Also, the class coach that is posted on the site is generally accurate about 10% of the time so members never know who the coach actually will be for any given class.

The Ugly:
-The DRAMA! There is serious drama at this gym with coaches dating members, preferential treatment to family members, and lack of community (especially after 2024 games). Too many are concerned with the leaderboard to be concerned with proper technique. While the costs go up, so does the drama!

Overall: Recommend going elsewhere unless you are experienced, desire comps , and can ignore the staff drama!

Adam (owner/operator) has created a special CF gym in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. The facility is large for the location, with a main, group training area, a side facility for individual training, and several additional spaces in the back for olympic lifting, metcon focused programming, and more. the facility is one of the better ones I've been to in the past few years (I have traveled CF gym to CF gym across the world for 5+ years) and the 24 hour access is dope if you want to get in an off-hour session. I spend a lot of time and learned to love the c2 bikes and rowers. The members are warm, welcoming, friendly. Adam is a busy guy but always ready to answer a quick question, which I was grateful for. Highly recommend this CF gym if you're looking for one in the area long term, looking for a good drop-in location, or questioning whether the travel distance from where you are is worth it. It's worth it.

I absolutely love this gym! I moved to the area about 6 months ago and I didn't know anyone. I found this crossfit gym searching through Google. I decided to do a free trial. The members and owners have been so friendly and welcoming. The workouts are super tough and they offer a lot of variety. I decided to complete the Foundations course and really enjoyed it. So far I've been going to the gym for about 3 months now. I highly recommend to check them out.

Such a fabulous environment to be around! I would recommend this gym to anyone in the area or anyone looking to drop-in from out of town. It is so spacious to accommodate both classes, open gym, and oly platforms all at the same time. We were training for an upcoming competition and needed to get in some Worm practice. The owner allowed us to come once a week for an entire month to do so leading up to the competition. The coaches (Carly, in particular) and the members were all SO welcoming, friendly, and supportive. The owner was kind enough to allow us to use the extra space that they have in the back during classes and any equipment we wanted or needed.

The Neighborhood is an amazing spot to spend a good training time in Alexandria.

They are excellent fitness professionals, guiding you step by step and the community is super friendly. You can find in this box all the items to get a great workout like, barbells, disc, bars, rings, kettlebell, dumbbells, a maps, bikes, ski ergs, row and more.

You can choose between open gym or classes and they have excellent prices!

I really recommend it!

My husband and I have been doing Crossfit for 7+ years and the Neighborhood is one of the best Crossfit gyms we've been a part of! Lots of class and open gym options, as well as high quality coaching and programming. Despite having only opened a couple of months ago, there's already a great sense of community in the space. Highly recommend!
