Pay attention to your charges if you're a member at Crunch Fitness!!!

I was double charged 3 times since I started the gym in April!!!

In June, I was double charged for the PT session and I immediately froze my card. I went to the gym the next day where I was told that my payment for my monthly membership did not go through so I unfroze my card and told the staff to charge it then. I was charged a late fee!!!

I explained to the manager that I was double charged for the PT session, I froze my card as result which was why the payment did not through and it was literally just a few hours later. I requested a waiver on the late fee which she said she could not facilitate.

As for the second charge for the PT session, I was told that it will be rolled over to my next session to which I agreed.

In September, I was double charged by the gym again so I canceled my membership. However, I received my refund and I was informed the final payment would be taken out in October.

In October, for the THIRD time, I was double charged again by Crunch Fitness. It has been over 1 week and I am yet to receive my refund!

Crunch Fitness needs to better!

Been to planet fitness and One Life. Recently joined Crunch and I love it.

I will say that One Life is a notch better due to how clean they keep everything and the larger locker room and larger sauna.

With that being said, Crunch is cheaper than OneLife and I like the non co ed sauna so I don’t have to listen to old men shoot their shot with young pairs of leggings.

Bringing my 6 year old to the child care has been great, he loves it and the staff are kind.

Brought my wife on a day pass and that was super easy and she had a great time as well.

I've been coming since they opened back in August and I am still impressed! The price, amenities & distance are the best gym accommodations I've ever had. I wish they had more equipment such as an actual stretching area, t-bar row & hack squat machine, but there is always room for improvement!

*UPDATE*: Two years later & not much has changed. Machines are constantly out of order & have yet to see any new equipment as other Crunch facilities have more options than this location. Hopefully this will change soon, especially since they just charged me for the annual maintenance fee.

Out dated equipment but its not the end all be all. The biggest issue is their drop in child care. You want me to pay an extra 20$ a month but you have 1 person in there for 40 plus kids. You have kids sitting on people's laps, and you employees smell of weed while handling children. You have kids getting bullied in there but the adult is on the phone the entire time. Avoid!!!

I just joined Crunch Fitness a few days ago, and my experience so far has been great! Alyssa helped me sign up for my membership and made the whole process comfortable and welcoming. I did a yoga class the same evening and it was amazing despite the instructor (didn’t catch her name D: ) being a substitute from the Portsmouth location. Today, Portia did my Crunch Kickoff. I paid for four personal training sessions with Caleb but only received three. I missed one session due to not texting to confirm and requested a makeup session, but Caleb never responded. He also promised to complete my body scan, which was included in the $29.99 one-time payment. However, during the three sessions I attended, the machine was broken, and on the last session, he mentioned that we should have done it first. Despite knowing how important this was to me, it was never completed. Crunch’s customer service has been disappointing, and I expected better communication—especially from Caleb, who presents himself as a faith-based professional.

Need to do something about people sitting on their phones at machines and not working out. A lot of the time I can’t get on certain machines because people just sit on them scrolling their phones for 15+ plus minutes. They will even get up and you think great they are going to clean the machine and leave but just come back, sit down and keep messing around on their phones.

I changed memberships from OneLife to Crunch in March of this year. I changed souly because Crunch offers better pricing packages for childcare. Ever since ive joined, I have had non stop battles with the ChildCare employees. My son has special needs and the employees that are hired at this location either have no experience with special needs children or their just not compassionate enough to care. Every time I bring my son, it never fails that I get a call to come and pick him up. There is no attempt by the ChildCare employees to redirect or fix the situation, their answer is to call me to come get him. I have even gone to severe lengths and brought his diagnosis paperwork in to show some employees, so they might have more understanding of his condition and maybe more compassion. We visited Florida over the summer and attended Crunch gym, and not once did I get a phone call to come pick up my son. The employees at the Florida location took the time to interact (paint, blow bubbles, have dance parties and even celebrated my son's birthday). Chimney hill, the employees are always sitting at their desk on their phone and not paying attention to the kids. Every time I walk by the KidsClub, it never fails to see an employee not engaged or unaware of what the children are doing around them. Today, a female employee actually grabbed my son and shoved him over the barrier to my husband when she called for us to come pick him up. Again, we NEVER had these kind of issues at OneLife or even Crunch in florida. This location has been anything but understanding, but more so cruel and unsympathetic. I do not recommend any parent to bring their neurodivergent or special need child here, because you WILL be getting a phone call from an employee to come pick them up.

I had lost a debit card which caused my payment to decline, they added 15 dollars in late fees, I went in to speak to a representative and they said they were not willing to wave the 2 fees even though I had never missed a payment for over 16 months, she said to check my emails for an offer to pay the balance with no fees but I never received an email with that option. They also didnt offer or suggest to update my debit card info and it declined again for my final payment after canceling my account and I was charged nother 10 dollar late fee. I enjoyed going to this gym its right by my my house but they've lost a customer so ill go down the street to planet fitness

I love this gym and it fits into my routine perfectly. I would like to suggest that rules or standards be posted for the members especially in the locker room. From people filming content in the changing area to people spaying cleaning products in the sauna while others are in it, there will is definitely a need for this. I used to LOVE Crunch! Great instructors- Shar, Shawna, Dwayne! BUT since the latter part of June the AC in the group fitness is has been broken! They seem to have NO intention to fix it! This is my 3rd complaint about the men's bathroom. Today Sat. Sept. 6th. The bathroom had no paper towels in the dispenser. The shower had the same soap on the floor in the corner for at least 3 days. The bathroom is not being properly cleaned. This presents a serious health concern. Staff are incompetent and ill manored , managers as well, cancelled my membership due to multiple billings issues, had my membership for a year and some change (way past the commitment contract) and was still charged for cancelling the membership. This gym is a franchise so I will implore you to maybe go to another location; besides the front desk staff these people have no clue what customer service is. My god children were injured in child care and it took 4 weeks for the establishment to even acknowledge the incident. I had a PT and when they fired her they tried to force me to work with people I wasn’t comfortable with. In my attempt to get in touch with the General Manager I left multiple messages and nothing back. JUST AN ALL AROUND TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

I had started at this gym & was hoping it would be worth the money but it wasn't. I was supposed to be downgraded and asked my trainer to do it for me & she said she would after I signed up but that never happened until I went in. I had to pay a downgrade fee which was fine. Then I got charged in March for the membership annual fees. Cool no problem I knew that was happening but then May 23rd I got charged another $60. I called to figure out why but nobody would explain. I have also called to cancel my membership as I no longer live in the area and they told me I had to come in or email corporate so I did and never got a response so now I am paying for a membership that I am not even using and haven't used since mid May. The trainers are also very rude and inconsiderate. My trainer specifically would constantly cancel on me, she would give my spot to other clients and then ask me to come in later, she would cancel 30 min before our meeting time, or just didn't show up.I am very disappointed. This gym would be better if the paper towel dispensers/spray bottles weren't always empty or only filled at the front. Super annoying considering i think it's gross that people don't wipe down the equipment when they're done using it, especially when they don't feel like walking all the way to the front just go get the disinfecting supplies. There is an employee that works here on nights that does the bare minimum to clean the place up, refill the cleaning stuff, and empty the trash cans. I hate coming here when I see him working. Scam artist. Trainer lied about contract⚠️ When I was trying to cancel my trainer service. he claimed he processed it and it would be done. Week later I get charged $110 again when I thought they canceled the trainer membership and when I asked him about it he told me he was going to get to it and it could take up to 7 business days to get refunded. Couple weeks later I get charged again. when I confronted them about it and they told me they can’t find the cancellation form I signed and said I can’t cancel it due to contract saying I have 7 days after to change my mind about the service and after the seven days you can’t get out of it. I was in town for a few days and was looking for a gym to go to. I saw Crunch said they have a free 7 day pass and I signed up for that and the screen said I would get the passes emailed to me but I never got my email for the passes. I called the crunch in Chimney Hill in Virginia Beach Thursday night the 3rd explaining the situation and the guy on the phone said we can figure the passes out when I arrived at the gym the next morning because a few other customers have had this problem too. The next morning around 8am on Friday the 4th I called the Crunch in Chimney Hill and a women answered the phone. I was planning on going in, but called to see if I could use a photo of my ID to check in and the women on the phone said I could. I then asked if I was able to come in and they could still help me figure out the free passes because it was a new staff and wanted to make sure they were okay with that too. She said no and I was asking if she could help me get the passes because the website said I could have the 7 day passes. She said the front desk doesn’t help with that, but management can. I asked to speak to a manager because I wanted to get my passes and go to Crunch but she was very rude and hung up on me. I was extremely disappointed with the customer service and her unwillingness to help a me. Needless to say I was I was very unhappy with my experience and I would not consider going to this gym. The women on the phone was incredibly unprofessional and rude.

Decent gym. Definitely better than planet fitness in general. Machines are much better. Lots of free standing squat racks which is good and a few deadlift platforms.

My only complaint would be the cleanliness...a lot of people use this gym, itd be nice to see some signage to encourage people to be cleaner - and i dont think its possible for an employee to monitor EVERYONE. People are all sweating heavy in here because duh its a gym but its not too much to ask for people to keep it clean, but some people are gonna be lazy and try not to clean and i think some signage would be a cheap and effective solution.

I was a member of this gym for a year but had to cancel my membership due to relocating. I went into the gym and completed the cancellation paperwork on September 11, 2024. I was given a document confirming my last payment date as October 1,2024. I had set up automatic payments so my last payment was paid October 2,2024.

However, Now, I’m being contacted by a debt collector claiming I owe $240. This is extremely frustrating and a complete waste of my time.

I advise others to be cautious when canceling their membership, as it appears the gym may continue charging even after proper cancellation procedures are followed or sending you to a collection center.

The facility is dirty. I’ve never seen the employees cleaning, they’re just at the front desk socializing. The tanning bed rooms are dirty and individual cleaning products are not provided in each tanning room. There is always large amounts of hair and dirt on the floors.

ALL of the staff members work hard and I applaud them for that. I see the work done. Some/a majority of the members just need to learn proper gym etiquette and re-rack weights, wipe down equipment after use, and not be a turd. No water fountains in the gym, so people just line up in the bathroom to use the sink tap water for their bottles, machines always broken and out of service, paper towel dispensers are always empty, water fountain filters are already in the red for some reason (which I’d assume that means they’re dirty), no soap dispenser and the one that does exist of the two rarely has soap, and the trash cans in the bathroom are always pouring out from how filled they are, I mean just come on. How long does it take to walk to the storage cabinet and pull out a roll of paper towels and restock the machine? 2 minutes? Max? Take the trash out? 4 minutes max? At this point just let the customers do it themselves. Some things like the water fountain or the machines being broken is, okay, things happen sure, but like really for everything else?

Another thing, and that I’ve also seen on every negative review (so I’m not alone clearly) is that they will tell you they’ll charge you one thing, or cancel payment of something, and then keep charging you or wrongfully charging you, and when you ask for a refund even from a manager, they say they cannot provide it and that corporate has changed their powers to issue refunds. I’ve come to speak to somebody FOUR times just to get my billing changed to their $9.99 plan, and everytime they either tell me there’s nothing they can do without a manager and come back another time, or when the manager is there, they’ll help me, tell me I’m all good to go and the plan is now $9.99, and then a month goes by and I’m being charged $11.99 OR $15.99 which happened this week. I enjoy this gym and the community and the modern equipment, but the gym either seems to be highly understaffed, (with all the missing paper towels and filled trashcans) or they just maybe do not give that much care. From what I’ve read, I expect a slightly snarky joke from whoever responds to this review, if anyone responds at all, and hey, whoever is responding with the snarky comment, the pictures are all right there for everyone to see. The pictures don’t lie.

I’ve come here basically since the gym opened and Blink Fitness went out of business, and the gym has been fantastic, but up until recently, it’s like nobody cares anymore or the gym is just highly understaffed.

Just hit the sculpture yoga class with Halle and she did a beautiful job directing us, she ended the class with a soothing aroma therapy that truly relaxed my body and mind

The gym is amazing but too much time is spent walking thru membership types and the freaking fees are ridiculous, including the extra month they charge when deciding to cancel! Wasted money here glad I wised up started back going on base and got a vb rec membership instead which averages $10 a month and no fees! Rec have several locations and offer a wide range of group classes and the pool. I thought it was me but Insee others complain about fee’s as well✌🏼
The arrogance in the reply says it all and if you work there you should should know, the fees everyone iin the reviews from others are also mentioned. Crunch definitely ain’t for me ✌🏼

I renew my membership and get here at 455am. The only water fountains in the entire gym don't work. I go to buy a Gatorade. The system is rebooting or something and I can't until the next staff change. Do I go to 711?

The gym itself with the equipment was nice. I was not happy with my personal training experience I did not feel like it was at all what was sold to me in the kick off. Also, asking for help from others aside from my trainer was hard it didn’t feel like it was super inviting. The classes were good.

This is my home gym, which I love, but like any other gym it has its issues ya know?? My huge concern lately as someone who gets here midday is that, the salt from the snow is still in the entry of the gym. I am tracking it all through the gym, and all through the bathroom so much so that leaving, I am taking it home with me. I’ve seen the young guy cleaning it, 2 or 3 times, but there’s been no advancements made on it. Do we have plans for it?
