Dynamic Movements School of Performing Arts is a dance studio in Suffolk VA dedicated to investing in our children through dance. We focus on a fun and safe environment that builds character and confidence through dance classes.
Dance Classes Offered
Ballet, Pointe’, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tumbling, Contemporary, Yoga, Musical Theater, Modern, and All Boys Classes
Children’s Dance Programs:
Morning and Evening combo classes starting at 18months-age 6 including Ballet/Tap/Tumble. We offer single subject, classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tumble and Contemporary for ages, 6 to 10.
Teen / Adult Dance Classes
Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tumbling, Contemporary, Improvisation, Yoga, Modern and All Boys Classes

I had my son take classes here and it was a painful experience for him. His dance teacher McKenzie was very rude and disrespectful towards my child. She would not take the time to help him and would set him away from his other classmates. Often when I looked in the classroom I saw him sitting alone quietly and it was upsetting to witness. Also bad mouthing my son to other parents was not only a evil and childish thing to do but it was highly unprofessional.
This is a very disappointing experience and I am disappointed that my son was treated so horribly.

Our daughter just entered her 10th year at the studio. If you ask her to describe DM in one word she would say it’s “home”. Over the years DM has definitely become family. The teachers are passionate about what they do and, as a result, our daughter has not only grown, but is flourishing in dance.

We have been with Dynamic Movements for 9 years. We joined as a recommendation from my daughter’s physical therapist. Both my kids have thrived at this studio. It is their happy place.
The staff is amazing. I cannot thank the staff enough for all the love and support they show my children especially our son with special needs. He has gone from a shy boy in the corner to running into the studio to be with his friends. We have seen him blossom and become more confident in himself. We even got discharged from occupational therapy because of his social growth in part from his experiences at Dynamic Movements.
Our daughter’s group is made up
of confident, strong pre-teens that would do anything for each other. This is fostered and promoted from the staff.
Dynamic Movements isn’t just a dance studio, it has become part of our family.

I have been at the studio going on 13 years and it has always been an amazing studio with an amazing staff that go out of their way to make sure each and every student feels like they are important. Everyone at this studio makes you feel welcomed into their family. This is the most the safe and enjoyable environment when it comes to dance and I wouldn't want to dance anywhere else.

I love this place! Both of my daughters take class here. They are 10 and 6. They take tumble, tap, and hip hop. They absolutely love it!
The staff is very kind and the instructors are very professional and knowledgeable.
They have classes for all ages and skill levels!
The tuition is reasonably priced. It can get a little pricey when you factor in recitals, dance team, costumes, etc. but it’s not horrible.
They also have adult classes!
If you or your children are looking for a dance school, I highly recommend this establishment!

We had a great experience here while we were in Suffolk. We recently moved away and having a hard time finding a similar school that’s great with kids (my daughter was 4 when she attended) but also professional and educational so I feel like she’s having fun AND learning. The recitals we participated in were amazing and the staff are all so friendly. We miss it dearly! I highly recommend this studio.

I can’t say enough about this place. My daughter has not only grown so much in her talent, but has heavily relied on the normalcy and love this place provided during such a hard year. She runs into dance happy, and runs out happy. The ENTIRE staff is loving, committed, and just so nice. My daughter looks up to them all and constantly tells us stories about how they touched her heart at times, or made her laugh.
My husband is gone often and I’m constantly looking like a traveling circus with my younger two. At a recent convention, Kristen, the director, stayed with my daughter in a sea of people and waited until I could find her. It just displayed such care and safety, and I was so blessed to have help when I know she had so many responsibilities during such a time.
We are being transferred to Florida, and as excited as I am, this is THE hardest thing to leave. I only hope to find something close to what we’ve had with DM. Thank you to you all, we love you!

We have been dancing at Dynamic Movements since my daughter was 2. 10 years now. Over this time the director and teachers have become both family and friends to us. They have a wonderful supportive staff, age appropriate dancing for young girls, and a great overall program. I highly recommend this studio if you’re looking for recreational dancing or competitive dancing!

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dynamic Movements. My daughter danced there about 12 years and was on the competition dance team. The instructors treat each dancer as their own child. When you join their studio you become a member of the family. Best studio in town.

I really do love this place. My 5 yr old daughter started here last summer and we can’t stop going! She loves her teachers, the kids with whom she dances, and even knows the French words and meanings for the different dance moves! The classes are fun and happy, but still held to a high standard!
My son even has a great time playing w the toys and books in the main area with the other little brothers waiting with their moms!
I am so excited for our first recital and they even let you tack on a little chunk of the recital performance/outfit/etc total onto each month’s pay so that you don’t have to pay one large sum in June when they perform.
We’ve made great ballerina friends (and parent friends too!) and she is inspired to dance for many years to come!

Dynamic Movements is a quality dance studio with opportunities for children (and adults) of all ages and skill levels. You choose the pace: drop in, recreational, dance team, or elite, and the students are always treated to a friendly, professional environment that fosters a love for dance and community.
