I only write (unsolicited) reviews for local businesses that really go above and beyond and this is one of them. This is a very welcoming and inclusive studio that is highly professional, fair, and community-minded. Krystal was an exceptional, highly-knowledgeable, patient, and kind teacher who was completely focused on my needs and goals as a beginner to Reformer classes. I look forward to returning to her classes when I am back in Richmond to visit family. Both locals and visitors to RVA of all levels and personal identities will feel comfortable here. Keep up the great teaching and community mission, Embody!

Update 8/25: I’ve continued to take class at Embody and all the teachers are excellent. Alexa’s and Mary’s classes offered great complements to Krystal’s. Stretch and Sound with Becky and Kayci was also fantastic. Highly recommend all the different types of classes. Thank you to Embody for the inclusivity and accessibility, including keeping the community classes open and for always making newcomers and returning students of all identities feel welcome.

I've been going to Embody since the beginning and I cannot speak highly enough about this studio, the group of women that teach, and the genuine community that they have helped to build. Each class is different, intentional, and will definitely make you sweat.

I used to teach with them myself and honestly say that they are the best of the best. They're all highly educated and continue to take classes, workshops, etc to expand their learning. The classes are small and that is EXACTLY what you want - the hands on focus!

One thing that I really love is that, in each class, the teachers introduce the other students to one another at the beginning of class. It's a small thing but very impactful - I have seen so many fellow students out and about around Richmond and it's the sweetest thing to say hey!

The best Pilates studio in Richmond. The classes are small and intimate. The instructors are all experienced and each have their own unique style. I know my workout will always be fun and challenging! Plus the studio is a whole vibe and they have great equipment.

Love going to classes at embody pilates! All of the instructors are phenomenal. Last week I had an accidental 1:1 class with Krystal and whenever I take a class with her I always feel like I learn so much and am so much more aware of my body. She gives that kind of attention even in a full class. I also love my weekend classes with Mary.

Becky gave fantastic cues and I got a great workout. I feel like I have more body awareness after taking class there.

Location is difficult to find, I would call my class heavy breathing, it was almost an intro class, the reformers are like using a wooden plank, felt unprofessional as well. I wouldn't come back here again.

an amazing, intimate pilates experience! A great workout but feels less aggressive and more intentional than solidcore. I just hope they add more machines so I can get into more classes

Came for a class at the recommendation of a friend and had a great experience. Alecsys was the instructor and she was wonderful at explaining how to do each exercise and what we should be feeling as well as the benefits. There are only 3 reformer machines so classes are quite intimate meaning you get full attention for corrections which I appreciated. Since space is so limited, it's hard to reserve a spot but I got in off the wait-list so I recommend adding yourself to the wait-list for the dates you want if there are spots available.

Amazing studio, even better instructors! I love the small class sizes and person centered approach each instructor takes. I can’t say enough positive things about the instructors—they are all so positive, friendly, and super knowledgeable. I have been working with Alecsys for over a year and she has had such a massive positive impact on my health and confidence. Whether you’ve been doing Pilates for a long time or the first time, this is the best place to go in RVA!
