Enjoy Roanoke pilates! Rachel Robertson is a seasoned pilates instructor/coach in Roanoke, VA with over 24 years of experience. At Energy Within Pilates you will learn how to access and move your body in a new and more balanced way as you evenly training all of your muscles through a series of fluid, continuous movements and proper breathing techniques. We serve clients from Salem, Roanoke, Vinton, Blue Ridge, Bonsack, Troutville, Moneta, Smith Mountain Lake, and other areas in the Roanoke Valley.

I had a debilitating back injury and spent a lot of time in physical therapy. When I was strong enough, it was recommended to start with Pilates with Rachel. I started with several one-on-one classes before I was ready to begin group classes (which really made me feel more comfortable and confident). I have now been going for over one year and feel the strongest I have ever been!!!
Rachel has a strong knowledge of anatomy and tailors her instruction to each individuals’ history and abilities. The small class sizes are another excellent aspect of this Pilates program!
I feel very uplifted in my continued journey to healing; I could not have done it without her instruction and support.

I have been attending Energy Within Pilates classes for one year. In a word, Rachel is the Best! I have suffered with debilitating neck issues for 12 years. I had previously worked with some of the best sports medicine doctors, physical therapists, acupuncturists etc. with little result’s regarding my neck pain. I decided to try Pilates last year and met Rachel.
Rachel has completely cured my neck pain and I consider this a miracle! Rachel’s knowledge of the anatomy, and best Pilates practices continues to help me with strength and balance. After working with Rachael for over a year now I can honestly say she is an excellent instructor. I deal with a pretty serious back and neck injury with hardware that requires constant care, exercise and training. Rachael's years of experience has helped me tremendously. Each session based on how I am feeling is tailored to assist me moving better and in return less pain. She is extremely knowledgeable and I have learned through her instruction how I can do pilates safe and effectively. I strongly recommend trying a session with her. I had been doing yoga for years in the hopes of it helping with my back pain. Then my PT told me she likes Pilates better than yoga for back pain. I found Energy Within Pilates on the web and have been amazed at how much my back pain has been diminished through strengthening my core muscles. Rachel has years of experience and knowledge and the class sizes are small so you get individualized attention. It’s a great workout and I don’t get bored because she is always changing things up. Most workout programs in the Roanoke area either required me to be a top athlete or to go at a snail pace to the point where I felt no results. Meeting Rachel was the perfect happy medium. I had a hard time finding a realistic workout regimen that would work for me. I have experienced overall flexibility and strength. Also, Energy Within has helped strengthen a few previous injuries I had from a car wreck.
However, one of the main reasons I sought out Rachel was Prevention. DO NOT wait until you get hurt to call Rachel. If you pay by the month it comes out to 25 dollars a class (most go twice a week) and you get lots of individual help in her small classes. Much less expensive then back surgery. I used to go to a gym where several instructors stood around chatting, instead of offering me any help on the equipment. Sure it was cheap, but I got what I paid for! So, get off that couch and try Energy Within for at least a month!

I have been attending private pilates classes with Rachel for one month and I am so grateful for her dedication in teaching me everything from proper breathing while doing the exercises that are strengthening my core and preparing me to be strong for knee replacement in June to teaching me how to retrain my muscles to work as they were meant to work! I was recently congratulated on my flexibility at a recent appointment with my orthopedic surgeon. When I told him I was taking pilates he exclaimed, "Keep doing what you are doing." I highly recommend taking classes with Rachel. She is sensitive to your specific needs while encouraging you to test yourself and work toward better health through proper body movement and control!

I look forward to going to Pilates with Rachel. She is so knowledgeable and can zone right in on a problem you might be having before you even tell her! She keeps a close eye on her students and makes sure you are doing everything correctly so you don't injure yourself. She mixes up the workouts so you don't get bored from week to week, and covers all of your different body parts. I highly recommend her for someone starting out in Pilates--you will learn the right way.

Rachel, owner of Energy Within Pilates in Encinitas, is the best! I walked into her studio hunched over and after 1 class came out walking straight. Even though it was a group class, Rachel gave me 100% of her attention and it seemed like a private class. Rachel knows how the body works and is very caring. She is experienced and highly professional. She keeps her classes small and gives everyone individualized attention. There are so many Pilates studios in the area, but the classes are so crowded and the instructors do not offer any feedback. Rachel is constantly correcting and repositioning everyone as the correct form in Pilates is super important and Rachel emphasizes this above all else. If you want to improve your health and your body and get into excellent shape, then you need to see Rachel at The Energy Within. I can't say enough great things about Rachel!

I have been a student at Energy Within Pilates for 2 years now. It is amazing how I don't have neck and back pain anymore. Rachel has worked so hard to adjust classes for me to get me stronger. I've attended several different pilates studios over the past few years and Rachel is the absolute best. After my first private session she had me join in on her regular classes. I have had pain for years due to scoliosis without any help from physical therapy or the chiropractor. Working with Rachel has totally changed my body and I'm much more in balance and my posture has definitely improved. The studio is also great with a wide variety of equipment and it's very clean.
