Excel martials arts is an amazing place to learn karate, the instructor (Master Palmer) is the best, he teaches kids and adults very well, he teaches us all how to be hard working martial artist but he also teaches us how to be great individuals outside of karate. Ms. Donna is also the best, she's always very kind to us and she always believes in us, anytime someone is upset or needs to talk shes always there for them and listens and helps them out. The students there are very kind, I highly recommend this place to all ages who are interested in karate.

I started training at Excel 6 years ago as an activity to do with my family. I've stayed because the Palmers make the school a welcoming place that builds martial skills and community spirit. The training challenges me physically but also mentally to change old, bad habits for better ones. My daughter has really enjoyed the kids classes and has made many great friendships with other kids from the local area. I highly recommend Excel if you want to train with a great group of people!

We enrolled our daughter in karate towards the end of last year. In just that short time, she’s found her place at Excel. She is excited for classes, and loves taking advantage of the extra sessions offered. Master Palmer and Ms. Donna have both been wonderful, and make you feel welcome from the start. The school is very clean. Students and other helpers have all been kind. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a safe space for your child to learn karate and other life skills.

Our son started at this amazing school 2.5 years ago when he was 5 years old. Our initial reason was for him to follow directions and self defense. Master Palmer and Miss Donna are amazing at what they can do with these kids. We love the in-house tournaments, parents night out and Fall Picnic. This school is the best in the Roanoke Valley.

Our family has practiced at Excel for over three years. We started as a way to get more exercise as a family, and Master Palmer and Ms Donna's excellent instruction and hospitality have kept us loyal students. Master Palmer brings over 40 years of practice and competitive experience to the school. He continues to train with other great practitioners to continually evolve and improve the schools curriculum.

I have great respect for Master Palmer's patience and skill with children's classes, and looking back we see the impact it had on our daughter as she advanced through the various levels. The adult classes provide a great environment whether you are looking for karate for fitness, competition, or self-defense. Each is challenged to their level and goals with no pressure to a particular end other than giving your best.

We love Excel Martial Arts!!!! Master Palmer and his wife, Mrs. Donna, are simply amazing!!! He trains the children with a kind and gentle demeanor, but is able to discipline very effectively. They love what they do and it shows! The facility is absolutely immaculate and they provide meaningful and fun extras as well. Our son has particularly enjoyed the Parents Night Out program and has made friends attending them. They brought in an amazing photographer that could capture our kiddos talents in a very professional way, and their parties are the absolute best! We held a party for our son in December and he still talks about it. They handled everything! It was absolutely the best party that any of our three children have had. I loved it because I could stand back and enjoy every moment, rather than having to run around and miss everything. The kids loved it because they were active, had so much fun, our son cut the cake with a sword, and he even broke a board with his hand! Everyone participated in one way or another and it was extremely cost effective.
In summation, if you are on the fence about checking them out, don’t be! They are simply the best and we love them like family!!!

Amazing birthday party! I didn't have to worry with anything. They took care of all the details and had so much for kids (age 2-6) to do! The birthday boy "broke" a board with his hand and cut his cake with a Samurai sword! Those moments will stick with him for years to come! Easiest party ever and affordable considering what others are charging!
