SCAM!
Shady business practices. Don't get a membership to this gym unless you're prepared to keep paying for it for months on end. They get your bank account number and run it monthly until you cancel regardless of how long a duration you sign up for. I got a membership last year for 4 months. A halfa year later I noticed I was still getting charged for this membership. I signed up for 4 months because that's the only time I needed it for. They automatically renew the membership without your knowledge or consent. I was not told this at the time I got the membership. Called the gym to complain about this. Expecting to get refunded for the months that I hadn't been to the gym and didn't sign up for. They told me I should have read the fine print. Good customer relations.

I think this is a really crappy way of doing business and was flabbergasted at their attitude when I called to complain. I guess its standard business to suck as much money from your bank account before you realize its gone then refuse to refund it.

PS. I made a complaint about this business to the Better Business Bureau. Instead of trying to work out a resolution or call me to apologize, the business owner told the BBB that I was a liar. Good customer relations.

So beware. A 3 month membership to 1440 means forever to them. They get your bank account number and run it until you stop them. Beware

Easily the best gym I have ever personally experienced, the machines were in great condition and i could even see them being cleaned by this weird hardworking janitor dude with really tight, sagging booty shorts that read "Juicy" in glittery cursive. I think his nametag said "Brian". The staff were friendly and the other gym goers were supportive, overall a very welcoming and friendly environment. 5 Stars <3

Out of all the gyms in the area, Fitness 1440 by far has the best employees and facilities around. A bit smaller than commercial gyms, but it has everything you need plus more! It is a convenient gym for those who live off Rt. 17. The gym has enough equipment to build a decent workout. If you have closer gyms to you, I would consider those options.

Having been a member for over a decade, I’ve watched the gym slowly decline since former owners sold around 2015.

Pros: location for those in Hartwood, 24/7 hours, and some good pieces of equipment.

Cons: common for equipment to be broken for extended periods and when it’s repaired it isn’t done well (latest repair to functional trainer has the cables at very different lengths), spacing of equipment makes it difficult to change weights, lack of organization for cable attachments, the leg press weight bar and hack squat bar will currently collide if both are being used-crammed space, dirty (locker rooms, equipment, and gym floor), newer Fettle equipment is poor quality, lack of equipment maintenance (common for bolts to be loose making a machine unstable, machine tracks not lubricated/grinding), birds nest of cables exposed around cardio equipment is a trip hazard, until recently about 1/4 of cardio equipment was broken-just removed and not fixed, among others.

Recommendations: address above cons, stay on top of equipment maintenance daily, have employees clean ALL equipment not just cardio every hour, maintain bathroom cleanliness also stock soap, paper towels, toilet paper, if something is noted to be broken during cleaning/inspection - fix it, spend money on quality - unlike Fettle and cardio area puzzle flooring, fix broken baseboards, have employees greet members not put heads down when scanning in, create culture of gym etiquette that is SEVERELY lacking - be prepared to deal with weights not re-racked and lifting right on the dumbbell rack.

This gym has potential to be what it once was but appears there is a lack of pride in ownership and accountability needs to be taken for the current state of the gym. I’m hopeful it gets better and this review is taken constructively.

General awareness: Members have been threatened with their membership being terminated by the “owners” for comments online about the gym they didn’t like, so positive change is unlikely. Dictatorship isn’t a good business practice. Be skeptical of the generally positive Google reviews rating.

My gf signed up for the gym and cancelled within a week back in March. Went in talked to the manager signed all the paperwork to cancel and thought we was done with it. Now getting calls from a debt collector saying we owe $400. After calling and going back to the gym and speaking to the manager there was a problem with the cancellation and hr/billing. The issue was resolved quickly.

I've been a member for a year and a half now after switching from PF and trying out other gyms in the area, and I'm so glad I made the change! The past year they've made consistent improvements to their equipment, getting all sorts of new machines that I haven't been able to find at other local gyms. The staff is always super friendly and constantly cleaning, and I love the mix of traditional fitness classes/cable machines mixed with all of the new barbell equipment and dumbbells.

We’re from out of town visiting my parents. Every time we visit, we stop in to Fitness 1440. They offer GREAT pop in deals for out of town clients! The staff is SUPER friendly. The best kept secret on 17! Under new management, this place has seen a surge of life! the constant improvements, accountability and culture is the best! Been coming here for 8 years and this is the best it’s been. Oscar has been nothing short of amazing, Talley is a wonderful trainer and Alec has constantly proven himself time and time again. The facility is clean and the change of equipment, good or bad, has been a huge part of change. My original review was from last year. I have been contacted by the new management and had a pleasant experience so far! I hope they will continue to provide good customer service.

I used their facility for a short period of time and had an unexpected surgery which prohibited me from working out, driving etc. I called to cancel my membership (no contract). After 3 months i get a letter from an attorney office telling me i owe $267.85 because they do not accept cancellation over the phone, and i should have read my contract! The kid at the front desk said that he will take care of that and will cancel my account since i was on bed rest.

Whether you’re looking to stay in shape or build strength this is the gym best for any fitness goals. I’ve been going to Fitness 1440 since 2019 and I’ve seen a lot of changes in the gym. Recently it’s come under new management and this change is definitely for the better. New equipment is being brought to the gym amongst other upgrades. The staff and trainers at the gym are so personable and helpful. I used to attend the group classes, but due to scheduling conflicts I can’t anymore but I highly enjoyed these as well. There’s no exercise you can’t do at the gym. With it being open 24 hours it’s so helpful for my schedule especially on the weekends. The membership fee is so reasonable for everything you get through this gym!

I came to visit my dad and stopped by this Father's Day to get a quick workout and I was pleasantly surprised ! First, the gym had such a wonderful array of equipment. The manager who helped me at the front was super funny and helpful and made me feel like home. They were upgrading the bathroom which was super important because it showed the upkeep they were putting in to provide good service, but it still managed to be clean and not overwhelming. I would definitely come back when in town and would join a place like this if I was in the area!

Highly recommend!!! Quite possibly the best gym in the Fredericksburg & Stafford area. The staff is SO friendly, knowledgeable, and you can see that they truly care about their members. They've made a lot of improvements recently to the facilities recently too.

I've tried their personal training services, and wow! Their trainers really know what they are doing. Made much greater strides in my health and fitness than I could on my own with their help.

They don't lock you into any contracts, which was a big deal for me. I've used other gyms that try to lock you into a long term contract that is almost impossible to get out of. No thanks!

Membership price per month is EXTREMELY reasonable too.

Hands-down, my favorite gym in the area! I’ve been there for years and it’s only gotten better! Such a family friendly and comforting environment! And I’m loving the new upgrades and gym equipment they are bringing in!!!

This gym is excellently managed, lots of friendly people here! I really enjoy the environment and the classes are always super fun. If you’re looking for a cheap, but valuable gym membership you should definitely check this place out!
