There are no gimmicks or tricks here, Foundation Fitness is just pure effective training and knowledge. These guys are phenomenal and have been tremendously effective for me over the last 6 months of training here. Diego, who I have done the majority of my sessions with, has been a valuable part of my success here. Through the whole team but especially his efforts, I have achieved significant measurable success in my overall fitness profile. I have gone from 26% to 20% BF, gained muscle, increased weights across all lifts, and most importantly learned and improved a variety of exercises and their forms.

Foundation Fitness has been instrumental in my fitness evolution. Everyone has been so carrying and supporting as I’ve started this journey about 9 months ago. The team has been so positive in every aspect of my training from Patrick making the first introduction, to Steven getting me started, and Diego, my trainer, who’s awesome at working with me to make my sessions personal and productive.
While I sometimes have to travel, the team is flexible with my schedule and supportive in helping get all my sessions made up when it’s convenient for me. I highly recommend the staffing and personal trainers at Foundation Fitness!!

I did 6 months of training with Diego Moscol at the Annandale location to get ready for Army basic training and really enjoyed the program. All the trainers I interacted with were very friendly, knowledgeable and clearly cared about their clients progress and well being. Customer service was accommodating and understanding. 100% would recommend to anyone, especially someone new to getting in shape or has commitment issues with the gym.

I've been working with Amber at the Foundation Fitness of Annandale since June for pre-natal training, and it's been such a positive and empowering experience. She’s incredibly supportive and attentive, always making sure I feel confident and safe during our sessions. I’ve been training with Amber for the last 4 months and I’ve had nothing but an awesome experience. Not only did she help me get wedding ready, but she’s helped me get stronger overall. She is a great instructor and meets me where I’m at. She’s great at accommodating when I’ve had random injuries or when I have a new fitness goal. At the age of 72, I walked in to the Foundation fitness with my son as a last resort after doctors, neurologist , physical therapists and chiropractors couldn’t help me with leg pain, stiffness and balance. After years of this and with very little hope I started to see Mackenzie as a personal trainer.
Mackenzie was literally on the floor stretching my legs, using theragun because my mobility was so restricted. Slowly started doing weight training and the exercises progressively got more and more independent.
Today 9 months later I have significant improvement in my strength, balance and flexibility. My friends and family have all noticed. My leg pain which I was suffering for 2 years is gone. My pain pills got reduced and now it has been 5 weeks I have not taken any pain killers.
Mackenzie’s patience, encouragement and expertise have been invaluable for me. I’m grateful for her support and patience with me. I highly recommend Mackenzie to any one, but especially to anyone looking for rehabilitation from injury or atrophy.

After years of putting everything and everyone in front of my health, I finally snapped and made a call to Patrick to see if Foundation Fitness might be a good fit to help me get back on track. I let him know that my work schedule and single mom life made it challenging to commit to regularly scheduled workouts, he assured me that they'd make it work. Nearly 5 months later, they've made good on that promise.
I've had the luck of training with Diego and he's been patient in both scheduling and in the training regime. He's also been great about working around old injuries and the new ones that pop up because #midlife. As a result, I'm slowly and surely building back the muscle I once had. Restoring my health isn't a matter of beachwear, it's the ability to live a full, independent life without being a burden to my kid as I get older. There's no magic pill but the combination of nutrition and fitness counsel I've received here has been working so far.
I'm grateful to Patrick, Steven, Diego and the entire Foundation Fitness family for their support, humor, and motivation.

I started my journey with foundation fitness and it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made towards a healthy and active lifestyle change. The team here is incredible, the onboarding by Steven and the expert training by Amber really helped to make my experience a truly positive one. I looked forward to my personal training sessions every week and have already lost about 8 pounds in about 2 months. Couldn't say better things about my experience at Foundation Fitness and working with Mackenzie! I've always found exercising really difficult to stick with, but after 4 months of training here, I can honestly say that my sessions are something I look forward to.
The gym itself is clean, well-equipped, and has a positive atmosphere. The trainers are all friendly and welcoming. Mackenzie is someone who both challenges you and listens to your concerns and never makes you feel guilty about falling off track for a bit. My sessions are always fun, even if the reps are hard.
In my short time here, I definitely feel stronger than before. If you’re looking for a gym and trainer that will help you not just stick with it but truly enjoy the process, this is the place. Highly recommend!

I started my fitness journey with Foundation Fitness Annandale several months ago and I have to say they have shaped my view of fitness and wellness for the better as they have provided me with a roadmap that is proving to be effective and fun. My first point of contact was with Patrick and he was great: he was a genuine sample of the type of trainers that I have interacted with and seen on FF of Annandale. He was authentic and seemed to genuinely care for his team and for the people that visit the FF gyms. He walked me through the process, and took the time to understand what were my goals and obstacles in my fitness journey. He addressed all my concerns and worked towards finding an optimal schedule in order to help me meet my goals. Part of drafting a plan included finding a location that would adjust to my needs, Patrick suggested the Annandale location that is owned by Steven, and they appointed me to have Mackenzie as my trainer. Steven and Mackenzie are the best! As a first timer for getting training and going into a gym I felt intimidated, however they have made everything feel so easy and familiar, for example every time I walk in they make sure to joyfully greet me by name, also when I first joined they both proactively helped me to make sure I understood how to use the machines.
Steven is friendly and keeps a fun environment at the gym: he always has great music and is encouraging fun interactions between the all the members of this community.
In Steven’s gym everyone is respectful and friendly, and the trainers are the type of people that get along great and try to make a community out of it, for example, Mackenzie makes sure to introduce me to other folks making it feel like I’m part of a community.
In terms of training with Mackenzie I have to say she is great so far! She has incredible memory and remembers small details from all of our conversations, she listens to my feedback/goals and tailors the sessions accordingly. She also has experience working in a Physical Therapy setting and frequently incorporates that into her sessions. She also provides valuable insights on muscle building, healthy habits, and things to do to improve my recovery. Mackenzie also makes the session fun and interactive! Mackenzie also keeps track of the program and the progress I am making: is not something random or spur of the moment but rather a methodical and thoughtful approach towards helping me achieve my goals.
Here you will get not only fitness but a community and lots of laughs.

FOUNDATION FITNESS!!! I LOVE this place. I played sports growing up but was never someone who worked out on my own. Steven has helped me understand exercise techniques that I never could’ve figured out by myself. He knows exactly what I need to do to see improvement and isn’t afraid to challenge me. All the trainers are awesome. Amber and McKenzie are so knowledgeable and helpful. Even though they aren’t my trainers, they’re very engaging, fun to be around, supportive, and a part of my fitness journey. Steven has a great attitude and impeccable customer service. I’m glad I chose Foundation Fitness because I don’t think I’d be as committed to working out if I didn’t start here. A welcoming, challenging (but not in a scary way), fun, focused, and collaborative environment have been key to my success so far. Foundation Fitness of Annandale is a great place to get in shape. The personal trainers are knowledgeable, personal, and communicative. The facility is clean and has all the equipment you need. The personal trainers design the workouts specifically for you, and carefully monitor your progress. I had surgery on my neck in connection with neck and throat cancer. Steven has designed exercises to help me regain mobility and strength in my neck and right shoulder, as well as rebuild muscle I lost during chemotherapy and radiation treatments. My only regret is that I did not start with Foundation Fitness sooner.
The collegial environment makes the workouts enjoyable. Each personal trainer is willing to pitch in and help if needed. They all take an interest in your training and progress.
I must give credit to my wife who found Foundation Fitness through a diligent Internet search. The positive reviews are well deserved.
I recommend Foundation Fitness of Annandale. They will "pump you up"!

When i started looking for gyms to help me get back in shape i had a lot of false starts. But as soon as I walked in the door at Foundation Fitness I could tell something was different. The vibe was great, there were people of all sizes, ages, abilities, genders and races. Everyone I met was super welcoming, and that feeling continues every time I walk through the door to train. And the trainers are exceptional. They work with you, knowing when to push and when to be supportive. My trainer is Amber and I couldn't be happier with her. After various false starts in my diet and weight loss journey, I decided it was time to get serious. I went an interview at multiple gyms, and committed to Foundation Fitness Annandale. I joined the small group training and it has been nothing short of life-changing. I mainly train with Collin and Angelo, but all the trainers have been friendly, knowledgeable and encouraging.
The small group training has been perfect for me having a small group encourages and challenges me to do my best each session. I’ve been with FF-Annandale for just short of 3 months and have lost over 20 pounds, while gaining strength and mobility. If you take advantage, they have a great app that pairs with Apple Health and myFitnessPal.
I enjoy coming to each session and look forward to being challenged. Can’t thank the Foundation Fitness team enough and will update as I continue to progress.

I began my journey with Foundation Fitness in the fall of 2023. I started at 285 lbs and with low endurance levels. Even with foot surgery in November and limited mobility for a month, the team worked with me on a regimen that would keep my progress moving forward. Here I am almost a year later, and I have not felt better in years. I am down 40 pounds and my endurance level has improved substantially. I am 65 years old. Collin Scheidt is one of the best trainers I have had the pleasure of working with. He forms each program to meet my needs and capabilities, yet continues to push me to exceed the plan. He motivates and encourages, while keeping a sense of humor, and focuses on doing routines that address multiple muscle groups at one time. It is amazing what a knowledgeable and thoughtful trainer can help you accomplish.

I have been training at the Foundation Fitness gym in Ashburn for years--even before it was Foundation Fitness. I have had a few FF trainers over the years, including Kevin Wickline and Kasiah Meyers. I have been very happy with both Kevin and Kasiah. Both pay a lot of attention to how you are feeling on the days you train and accommodate your training to any issues you are having that day. Both also pay attention to the progress you are making in your training--amount of weight you can lift, reps, etc. I train mostly now with Kasiah. She is very careful to discuss my goals with me and to structure my workouts to achieve my goals. I train with her 3 days a week, and she makes sure to vary my workout by days so I am not overly working any one set of muscles. She encourages me to push myself, and is a cheerleader when I achieve new levels. She is always studying weight training, anatomy, motivation, etc. and applying what she learns to her training practices. Plus she is very nice and I enjoy working with her. I would highly recommend Foundation Fitness in Ashburn, and Kasiah. (And Kevin also, of course!)

My original post from a year ago is below. I want to send an update May 2024. I'm still a member with Foundation Fitness and I'm training with Amber now. I started with Angelo who got me started, but it's with Amber that I've made fitness part of my life. If you want the personal attention with trainers who are knowledgeable and passionate, then I can't say enough about Foundation Fitness. 5 plus stars!!!!!
I joined Foundation Fitness of Annandale in November 2022 and am still going strong! I am more than happy with the personal training I receive. My trainer (Angelo) is passionate about his job. His enthusiasm is a great motivator—it’s exactly what you need to push yourself. If you want to reach your goals and make changes to strengthen your body, I can’t say enough great things about Angelo. He will help you get the job done! He clearly knows his stuff and is so knowledgeable about the principles of strength training and fitness. I see the changes in my body and I’m getting stronger every week and I’m feeling better! Not only are the other trainers (Steven and Caleb) just as knowledgeable but I can really see they enjoy helping others get fit. Found this gem of a place from a Google search and I'm so glad that I did! My first thought when reading the Google reviews was "There are so many good ones, is it really that good??" I went in for a consultation to check it out and ended up signing up that day. I've been training with Steven in a small group format for about 5 weeks now and I can say that they do live up to their great reviews! The gym is small, but it has all that you need for your training sessions. I was coming off of a knee injury/exercise hiatus and was a bit nervous to get back into working out. Steven has been great in making sure the exercises are modified as needed. He is supportive, yet challenging and makes the sessions fun. I would recommend this place to anyone!

I. LOVE. THIS. GYM. If you’re thinking about starting (or re-starting) an exercise program, Foundation Fitness is *life-changing*. There is a reason why their reviews are extraordinary; no matter where you are in your fitness journey, no gym has more heart or cares more.
I’ve struggled with diet and exercise my whole life; my weight has fluctuated an embarrassing amount. When I first joined, I got winded climbing a flight of stairs. I was so deeply unhappy, and so ashamed of my fitness level that the whole prospect of setting foot in a gym was intimidating. I hated the thought of joining one of those large chain-gyms; I knew I needed more accountability. But Foundation Fitness is a small, community-oriented fitness center with a SPECTACULAR, non-judgmental team that will push and inspire you. Each of their trainers offers their own arena of expertise – Collin is exceptional in mobility and functional fitness, Amber will give you the best HIIT workout of your life, Angelo builds award-winning power-lifters, and Steven is a *phenomenal* weight-lifting/body sculpting coach.
Whenever I show up, I feel welcomed, seen, and encouraged. (It’s sort of like my inner high school nerd is hanging out with all the jocks, and they’re being really nice to me??) The environment is always fun, even during the most grueling workouts. Some days we’ll listen to 70s rock music, other times it might be DJ mixes or top hits. I’ve never met another gym-goer I didn’t like; everyone is great. The aspect I love the very most about this gym is that I see clients of every age, body type, race, ethnicity, and ability; Foundation Fitness doesn’t just preach community – they live it. Each of the trainers is friendly and fun, but also a consummate professional. The level of engagement and attentiveness I receive during my workouts is unsurpassed by any trainer I’ve ever had before, and I can see and feel the results. The trainers help build the foundation and give you the tools to continue your fitness outside of the gym. Nutrition coaching is included, as is an app you can link to MyFitnessPal, Apple Watch, Garmin, etc. I’ll add that I did some price shopping in the area before I joined Foundation Fitness, and I found their rates to be extremely competitive, if not better than most.
In terms of the facility itself, it’s small – a couple of treadmills and other cardio machines, four separate rack stations, and all the standard training equipment (free weights, kettlebells, etc.). You’re expected to arrive early and do at least 30 minutes of warm-up and stretching before your session. There isn’t a locker room here (although there are bathrooms in the building), so this works best if you’re able to shower/change at home. Also, the gym is intended for group or one-on-one training sessions; while you can technically show up and do cardio on your own, this isn’t like standard gyms where you can just come and do weights whenever.
If you’re even considering joining a gym or working with a trainer, you won’t find a better fit – I promise you. In about 3 months (with some hard work in and outside of the gym), I lost approx. 25 lbs and 10% of my body fat while building muscle. The compliments are nice, having clothes fit *so* much better is great, but nothing beats how I feel – happier, stronger, and hopeful. Joining Foundation Fitness is one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself – ever.

After researching gyms, I committed my health goals to FF-Annadale. I have no regrets! 2 months of training and a nutritional meal plan, and my results have been remarkable. Angelo and his team are experts in their field, and the experience I gained from them has been invaluable. Our Monday after-work sessions are my favorite time to enjoy community while working up a sweat. Other times, we are very focused. That said, it's so much more than a gym. I am confident I will reach my fitness goals and make great friendships along the way.

I also know two people who joined this gym to prepare for their physical abilities test in law enforcement and both were successful. As a former college athlete, I’ve never felt satisfied with my experience at typical gym chains around here. I wanted a community feel with qualified coaches that could personalize my workouts and push me. I also have a connective tissue disorder and old injuries that can be difficult to accommodate. Angelo and Steven immediately made me feel like this was the place for me. You can choose 1:1 or small group sessions and your frequency. They paired me up with a small group of likeminded women 2x a week. Steven has done a great job of tailoring our workouts to our unique abilities and goals, and even though I’d rather rag on him than compliment him, he makes each session fun. 🙂 Each time I’m in the gym, there is a diverse group of individuals there, from first-timers to competitors, and all are friendly. The perfect balance! I always have a great time joking with the trainers and other clients, all the while getting in a hardcore workout. Steven, my trainer, is very knowledgeable, he always is prepared with a thorough workout, he shows the proper technique, and helps to guide my diet as well. When soreness or injury arise, he knows how to finesse certain movements so it doesn't hurt anymore or how to stretch out a particular sore muscle. I was hesitant on going…I felt like I would be embarrassed and laughed at for not being the strongest guy kind of thing. Angelo on the first day made me feel right in place from day one. I went from starting at light weight to heavy with his training methods in a heart beat. My muscles and body stopped aching and I felt 10 years younger. As I progressed through after a couple months, we got on a diet plan and I dropped 16 pounds in two months in the healthy way…still eating carbs and other items but in a healthier aspect. I then transitioned to working out 3 times a week and mixing in a HIT training style for a couple of those days a week with Caleb…I love it. I did CrossFit and this is in that same realm but more targeted to what you need or want to get better at. I wish I had these guys when I was younger…hard telling where I might actually be in my life with sports and other activities or less injuries. Highly recommend and to me…these guys are almost like I’m working out with best friends and makes it fun to go workout rather than the “gym” feeling of thinking you are out of place or not doing the right exercises alone.

I've been at Foundation Fitness for three months now and can't imagine a better gym experience. As a work-at-home mom with two jobs and part-time homeschool mom of three young children, I give up my ONLY TWO FREE MORNINGS per week to be a FF and have zero regrets. They're two of my favorite mornings every week.
After having my kids and developing an autoimmune disorder in the process, I spent a lot of time focusing on nutrition but just feeling totally lost when it came to exercise. Enter: Foundation Fitness. After a thorough intake, I was paired with my trainer - Collin - who is a perfect fit. He's always prepared for my workout, keeps track of my progress, teaches me how to lift safely, is encouraging without being weird, and doesn't make me feel like an idiot (a feeling I was quite accustomed to when at a gym...)
Like Collin, the other trainers at the gym are friendly, knowledgeable, non-judgmental, encouraging, and flexible (I've even showed up with my 7 and 9 year old in tow and they rolled with it!). The gym is also spotlessly clean. In short - FF is wonderful!

I've trained at Foundation Fitness in Annandale for 9 months now. I signed on at the age of 49 because I wanted to begin my 50s stronger and healthier than I was in my 40s. My trainer Steven B did a thorough intake and made sure he understood my physical limitations and my goals to overcome and exceed them. In the 9 months I've trained with Steven I have seen real, life changing results. Physically I am much stronger than I was in my 40s and have a considerably better understanding of proper lifting technique. Steven has a tremendous amount of knowledge and he knows how to motivate without being overbearing. All the trainers here give their clients their undivided attention to make sure you are getting the max out of your time spent with them. If you've put on a bit (or in my case a lot) of weight during the COVID isolation that won't go away, come here and this team will get you back into fighting form. Highly recommended!

My Foundation Fitness experience has far exceeded my expectations! Some context... always athletic and active but major back surgery some years ago and recently turning 60 had taken a toll on my overall health and fitness... my daughter had trained at the Annandale gym before heading off to JMU this past fall and had great things to say about the FF Team, gym experience and Lisa, her trainer. This place is a hidden gem! I've been training here for over a year and I honestly could not recommend it enough. I train with Lisa, who is very knowledgeable and makes the workouts safe and fun, but I've gotten to know the other trainers as well and I would recommend any of them. I'm a plus size girl and the environment is very body positive and makes me feel safe and secure. We're all there just to get strong! If you're considering weightlifting or personal training of any kind, I couldn't recommend this place more.

Started going here shortly after a lower back injury and they helped me with strengthening the muscles around my back and improving my flexibility/mobility. I also lost 30 pounds and feel better/stronger after 20 weeks thanks to Steven’s nutritional/diet guidance. The gym is on the small side but it has everything you need. I love the welcoming atmosphere of this gym. My trainer Jill is absolutely amazing. She offers plenty of insight on both fitness and healthy eating. I think you can go to just about any gym to work out. But if you want to go to a gym that will change your entire outlook on fitness and health, you should go to Foundation Fitness Annandale.
I live with severe major depressive disorder, and since the dawn of time, everyone has been telling me that exercise will help. But I never knew what to do in the gym, so I didn't bother trying. However, when my depression became very dark about two years ago, I decided to try training. Three months, I told myself. I’ll give it three months.
Then I met Angelo Demark at Foundation Fitness Annandale and two years have passed and I'm still here. Angelo profoundly changed my life. Yeah, I lost weight, I gained muscle, I feel physically “fitter,” but there are other benefits to working with trainers that I feel should be highlighted — like their impact on your mental health. Angelo pushed me on days when I could be pushed, he took workouts slow on difficult days, he made me laugh when I needed it (so, every day). He was supportive and compassionate and stable.
I like to say that Angelo didn't help make me "feel good" about just my body — he helped make me, as a whole person, well.
I’d also like to shout out Steven Bybee. He’s another fantastic trainer with a great personality — always made me laugh and feel welcome and wanted in the space, which was a feeling I didn’t know I needed until I had it. These guys are not stereotypical, intimidating “gym bros;” they are total and complete sweethearts.
I’d also like to thank Patrick Bresley for accommodating me when I needed it. When he was signing me up, he told me that this gym is like a family, and I attempted to call his bluff at one point with something I considered to be an outlandish request. It was not a bluff. He and Angelo took care of me like family when I needed it most.
Okay, that’s all. I know this is over-the-top for a Google review, but I’m moving soon and leaving the gym — which is harder for me than leaving some of my friends in this area (I hope they don't see this lol). Also, I really want a Foundation Fitness t-shirt before I go.
Basically, go to this gym. It's worth it. You're worth it.

Foundation Fitness has been a great personal training experience the past 6 months. This is the best gym experience that I have ever had. I was super nervous about working out with my knees because I have had so much pain when I run or go down stairs. I never thought I would be doing squats with weight and no pain! I have been on several runs since I started and finish without the usual knee pain. Soooo thankful!
The workouts are challenging in a good way, and I go home feeling healthy and feeling good about what I accomplished.
Also, Angelo, my trainer, and the rest of the staff are super knowledgeable and give great holistic advice about little things that can affect your workouts and body. He is always super positive and that makes the workouts fun.

I feel so lucky I found this place. I have always been intimidated by gyms and hated going. I have never been athletic but I knew I needed a change in my life and my health if I wanted to be happy. I am in my 20s and have some health issues. I had not been taking care of myself and it was impacting my health and quality of life. I drove past the location often and saw that they did free consultations and decided to give it a shot. BEST DECISION. I have been going twice a week for over a year. It's not like any other gym I had been to before. People know my name and I know theirs. It's small so I get one on one support from my trainer and support from others training. I have been going to Foundation Fitness Annandale since mid Feb. 2019. It''s now mid April 2019, and I've lost 13 lbs so far. I feel healthier, lighter and stronger. The trainers are really good at what they do, and they do it in safest way possible. My trainer is Steven, and he is hands down one of the nicest people ever, but he definitely knows when to push, but he never overdoes it. I think that's an important line to be aware of, and he is a master at it. Also, everyone in the gym is extremely nice and welcoming. Even on my first day, I felt like I was part of the family already.
If you want to be pushed in the right direction, this is where you want to be. I knew I wanted to get stronger, but I know nothing about weights, and FF Annandale has provided me with the right resources to ensure that I do it properly. On top of that, they also offer nutrition advice - which is honestly the most important part of this process. Just do it. Call them and ask for a quote. :)

Being a hardcore cynic made it a difficult decision, but it turned out to be the best decision I ever made. This is not your ordinary gym. All training is one-on-one or small groups. Angelo is the best trainer I could have ever asked for. He's patient, he cares and he knows his stuff. I started in late April and went from 168 pounds down to 144 pounds. I can deadlift my body weight, and I'm 63 years old!!! So don't think you're too old or too out of shape. Give Foundation Fitness call. You won't regret it.

I started with Foundation Fitness in December 2017. I am currently in the process for applying as an officer to the military, but was always lacking in the physical fitness department. A friend directed me to foundation fitness about 6 months ago and I have (amazingly) grown to love it! The gym is small but it breeds a great sense of community. I was searching for a personal trainer to help me recover from major hip surgery. Nine months after having reconstructive surgery, I still didn’t feel like myself but I really wanted to focus on getting back in shape. I was scared to try anything on my own, fearing reinjury. I decided to give Foundation Fitness a try after reading all the positive things other people had to say about them. Sure enough, they were not wrong!
When I met them for my consultation, they listened my concerns and my goals. They were upfront with their plans for training and how they would help me meet my goals. Not only do they help with the workout, but they provide nutritional support as well. I was able to learn about how to best fuel my body, not just for workouts but also for my daily life, giving me more energy all day long.
The energy and enthusiasm in the gym is contagious! Even if you do one-on-one training, its impossible not to pick up on the energy of the other trainers and clients working out around you.
If you are looking for some individualized support reaching your fitness goals, I highly recommend Foundation Fitness!

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this amazing fitness company? There's a reason Foundation Fitness's Annandale and Annapolis locations have all 5 star reviews -- these guys and gals are the best.
I met Lance when I was in 8th grade and he's pretty much the reason I am at all competent in the gym. I started working out with him to lose weight; he helped me lose a good 40 pounds in about 4, 5 months. I eventually went on to play a little D3 basketball, so nothing fancy, but I'd like to think that was partially possible because Lance kept me strong and quick enough to compete. I'm only 5'10".
Anyway, in the following decade+, I fell in and out of shape, but whenever I need a refresher on how to keep myself feeling healthy, I can rely on Lance and his team of trainers -- Patrick has also worked me out and is also great. I've been a member of a number of gyms, from VA to CA, and the trainers at Foundation Fitness are definitely the most knowledgeable, helpful, and hard-working out there. They keep up-to-date on a range of exercises and workout styles (i.e. can train newbies and/or highly competitive athletes), can tell you what and how to eat to match your workout goals (which has maybe saved me a little money on groceries), and make themselves available for quick questions when you're working out on your own.

Been training at FF for almost ten years now- initially with Patrick and now with Angelo; what do I love about this place? The trainers, the flexibility of scheduling sessions (I have trained as early as 5:15 am and as late as 9:30 pm), the individuality of each workout session (tailored to whatever ailment one may have), the attention given by the trainers makes one want to continue coming back...My teenage daughters have been working out with Angelo & Tae for over a year now, and their self esteem has bolted; this positivity has extended into their academic achievements in school (and has helped me keep my sanity ) :). Can't say enough positive things FF has provided all of these years not just in helping us stay healthy but also all of the continued support & friendship my daughters & I have received from Patrick, Angelo & Tae. And I have seen Devin being just as committed to his clients. It's a great feeling walking out stronger, feeling better on a regular basis, and no longer eating burgers, fries, caramel machiattos for energy. Oh, and did I mention between the three of us we have lost >50 lbs and are keeping it off! Thanks Guys!

I've been training with Angelo and the whole FoundFit team for just over 5 months now, and I've got to say, these guys are BEASTS! I injured my back a few years ago and reinjured it this past year, and Angelo has been a god send, not only helping me rebuild myself, but also to prevent myself from further injury, while at the same time pushing me to become stronger in all areas. Training sessions are intense, but they won't push you too hard if you're not feeling up to it that day--they'll still push you since that's what a trainers for; just not as hard. I look forward to every training session and am seeing and feeling the difference from my pre-FoundFit body to my post-Foundfit body. They are all very knowledgeable in training techniques and will help you even if it's not your training day. Glad I found this gem of a fitness center just down the street.

An amazing place to begin a journey to fitness. Although I have an athletic background, after many years of "forgetting" to care for myself while caring for my family; I didn't know how to get to back in the gym. What do I do? Do I do a bit of cardio then lifting? I needed guidance and support, from eating right to working out. I found that HERE! Patrick is AWESOME at encouraging you to take that first step. I am thankful to my trainer, Devin, a gentle giant ;-) Cares about how you're feeling but also pushes you to your limit and beyond. The rest of the team and the attendees are so warm (unlike larger gyms) I truly feel a part of the family, not just a number.

I'm a very indecisive person, but I can confidently say that signing up for training here was the best decision I've made. The gym itself is notably small, but it's impressive how efficiently the trainers make use of the space with creative exercises. It really boils down to the essentials and proves you don't need fancy machines to get fit.
Some of my favorite aspects of this gym would to be the diversity and energy. Everyone is so friendly in supporting each other, bringing invaluable energy with their unique stories of personal growth. There's a natural sense of community that makes working out more enjoyable.
I'm naturally small and underweight it was always discouraging when I could never seemed build muscle. I never thought I could be strong, healthy or confident in my own body.
Four months into training with Patrick and I've never been more thankful! His guidance, accountability, and encouragement go a long way. I've been experiencing so many fitness-breakthroughs ever since. Now I can deadlift over 100 lbs. when before I didn't even know what a deadlift was. With his help, I've gained a noticeable amount of lean muscle, healthy weight and a confident attitude towards fitness. Seeing my body grow stronger is the coolest thing. It's even more rewarding to reflect on how healthy and energetic I feel on a daily basis, and to have cultivated routine nutrition and exercise habits.

When I started with Patrick Bresley (owner) at Foundation Fitness Annandale I was a size 12...nine months later I'm a healthy size 4, and there is still more progress to be made!!! I can't say enough great things about Foundation Fitness. When I first came to the gym, I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted my goals to be. I had always been active, but I had never had any formal training or guidance on nutrition. Working with Patrick, I went from not knowing how to correctly do a pushup to competing in Strongwoman competitions. I have done four competitions in two years (and placing!) and have another one coming up soon! Patrick and the other trainers really work with you and help you step-by-step the whole way to get to where you want to be. The atmosphere in the gym is always high energy and everyone is incredibly friendly and supportive. The wide range of ages, skill levels, and goals make this gym diverse, but it still feels like a family. I'm so happy to be a part of it!

My name is Patrick Carosi. I have known Lance for over 10 years now and met him at another gym where he trained me. Lance then when out on his own and started Foundation Fitness. What I really like about Foundation Fitness is ALL the trainers "play the part". I see many trainers at other gyms that don't really do much or don't even play the part or even look the part. The knowledge and experience they have is superior to any other training facility I have ever been associated with. I had injuries to my shoulder and back as well. They were serious injuries and his team rehabilitated both my back and shoulder through careful necessary exercises along with massage therapy which Foundation Fitness offers at most of their training centers. For years I've wanted to get healthy, lean, and fit but I've never had the discipline to do it on my own. I hate gyms and working out with friends or family never lasted for more than a month. I was never a "gym person" but before going to college, my senior year of high school I had decided to workout and learn somethings to take to college and do over there and well it was a fail. I would go into the gym not kmowing anything so I gave up. After my first year I gained the "freshman 15" and needed to do something about it so i looked for a personal trainer and I found Foundation Fitness and it has boosted my confidence SO MUCH! My husband was looking for a new personal trainer, researched available options, located Foundation Fitness in Annandale and convinced me to try it with him. Best decision ever! His personal goal was to build strength. Mine was to lose a few pounds and get healthier. In a little over two months we are both visibly closer to our personal goals. The owner, Patrick, brought us in, evaluated us for a week or so and then assigned personal trainers to help us achieve our ambitions. I've done personal training now for over a year. After about seven months and four different trainers at a big box gym I decided it was time for a change.
I wanted a place where the turnover of trainers wasn't as high as my previous gym. I found Foundation Fitness through a google search.
After the first meeting with Patrick Bresley I knew I had found something different.
He did not try to sell anything. He just told me to come back for a nutritional assessment. He asked what my goals were and he guided me through a fitness app to track my progress.

I'm over 40 and have been with Foundation Fitness for over three months now. The results I got in three months are unbelievable.
Colin Morano, my personal trainer worked with me the first four weeks just gauging where I was. He noticed things with my posture and form that no other (4) previous trainer ever mentioned to me.
He gave me stability exercises and got me to the point where I'm now lifting more weights than I ever thought possible.
My initial goal was to build strength.
Man, has Colin Morano and Foundation Fitness delivered! I feel stronger than ever and I'm always looking forward to the next class. Every new session is a new challenge.

I am 28 years old and lead a very active lifestyle. I ran in the Tough Mudder which is a 12 mile muddy course filled with 22 grueling obstacles. I had scheduled a massage with Evelyn a few days after the event. In the days prior it was very difficult to get moving after sitting for any period of time. After the massage I felt so relaxed and loose again. It's like she gave me my mobility and muscles back which is priceless to me. I cant thank you enough Evelyn. I will definitely be back after all my big events.
