Freedom is almost my 2nd home!!! I came to Freedom Fit with my family after wasting our money at the Y for years. I was doing personal training at at work, and then COVID! I gained a ton of weight and felt awful. Once the world opened up we joined Freedom Fit and I have been there since! I started eating smaller portions and getting my pre diabetes under control. And combined with my 2 days of semi private training, I have now lost 55 pounds and started transforming by body and my mind!

My husband and I just wrapped up our six-week intro program with Joel at Freedom Fit Gym, and it’s been a really solid experience! Joel does a great job explaining things clearly and tailoring workouts to match our goals and fitness levels.

5 very enthusiastic stars for Freedom Fit! This was my very first time venturing into strength training and it has been a great experience in every way. Joel and Brigid have this way of making the workout experience fun while quietly kicking your butt. My best friend and I signed up together, which not only made it affordable, but also means we spend our time at the gym laughing and sharing stories. My goal going in was to improve my fitness and shape up my body for a very physically demanding job and with the help of my Freedom Fit team, we are killin it. My husband and I started coming to FFG a couple of years ago. We both had mobility issues due to surgeries (and general old age). Happy to say I'm able to now play volleyball without pain and I've gotten a lot better. FFG's program got me in good enough shape to do anything I want physically. And, I did my first pullup. :)

So I was introduced to FFG by my wife back in July doing the couples training . It was a great experience for both of us. We got to spend time and learn the right ways to lift and train. I had done a program like this previously but this one was different. My coach Vibin has listened to what I am looking for in my goals and has customized things for me. Unfortunately I do a lot of travel for work and he is able to send my workouts of the day and it is modified for hotel gyms. This is a great resource for someone like me who has been a member of other gyms but never could put together a consistent program. Since joining — I have lost 15lbs and some inches and now wear a smaller size and feel great. If your like me- you need a push to get moving— Joel and Vibin make it happen- trust me you get a heck workout!

My husband and I are in our eighth week of personal couple's training at Freedom Fit. Not to be dramatic, but joining this gym was the most transformational decision we have made in years.
[[ WHERE WE STARTED ]]
I'm 35. I've worked an office job for 12 years. My hobbies include reading, writing novels, embroidery, and crochet; I have never liked physical activity, and my only experience with sports was a brief sojourn as a basketball cheerleader in middle school. I've had intermittent experience with exercise, but I've never enjoyed it. The most physical activity I was getting day to day was walking from the parking garage to the office and trying to keep up with laundry. I have been under treatment for major depression and anxiety for a long time, and while my mental health was much more stable than it had been, I could feel myself slipping back into Struggle Mode. Additionally, I was recovering from a recent surgery on my wrist.
Then, my husband and I went on a weekend trip that involved a ton of walking, and Gentle Reader, we nearly perished. We dissolved into the seats on the train home. We were no longer human...we were simply sentient sore feet. We needed HELP.
I had a brief, private crisis. "I AM BECOMING A POTATO. NOT A COUCH POTATO--AN ACTUAL POTATO. I WILL DIE AT 40." Etc.
Then, I Googled stuff like, "beginner friendly" and "couples training" and found Freedom Fit. With great trepidation, I signed us up for a consultation with Joel.
We felt welcomed from the moment we met Joel. He answered all of our questions, and we had a LOT, at least 50% of which were silly. He gave us time to think. We didn't feel pressured or guilted into making a decision. He said things like, "If we decide to work together," and "If you think this is right for you."
Husband and I signed up for the 2x/week introduction. While it's a financial commitment, everyone budgets based on what is important to them, and we decided that investing in our physical health was critical, preventative personal care.
[[ WORKING OUT AT FREEDOM FIT ]]
The coaches are great. We've had the privilege of working with two: Joel (the owner) and Vibin. In addition to their extensive knowledge of Gym Stuff, both men are strong communicators who can explain, reinforce, and demonstrate concepts that help us understand our bodies and keep us safe. When you're working with your coach, you feel like their top priority (YOU--not the exercise). They'll push you to work hard and increase your reps or weight, but they'll also ensure you respect your limits.
To start, they offered modifications for my wrist as I regain my range of motion. Then on Week 7, I injured my lower back while doing a deadlift exercise. In the next session, Joel and Vibin explained what might have happened and took me through a range of tests to try to understand what had gone wrong. Vibin also changed my routine and weights to prevent further injury while still getting me a good workout. Rather than being disappointed in myself, I felt cared for and quickly recovered from the injury.
Aside from Joel and Vibin, our "gym buddies" are great! Everyone greets you warmly and wishes you a good night on their way out the door. Everyone's focused on doing their own thing, but the vibe is friendly and supportive. For the socially anxious among us: You never feel "on display."
[[ OUR RESULTS ]]
We can now lift heavier things more times than we could when we started, but sorry...that's secondary to the other benefits.
My husband and I are closer than ever before because of the time we're spending together, encouraging (read: competing with) one another. Gym visits have become a built-in twice-a-week date night. We've started walking, jogging, and going on other adventures. We're cooking better, healthier meals.
My mental health is stable, despite a stressful work season.
And it's only been two months! I'm so excited to see where things go from here. THANK YOU Joel, Vibin, and the Freedom Fit gang. :)

I started to work out on my own when COVID hit back in 2020 at age 43. Back then I was a tall skinny 168 lbs with a dad gut. I just wanted to build my cardio back up and work on toning that stomach. What I didn't expect was to start not only working out on my own but also joining
Freedom Fit Gym to take the next step. It was the best move I could've made. I fell in love with powerlifting and with my trainer Joel's help I'm now between 180-185 without the beer gut! I have muscles that I've never seen before. The gym itself doesn't seem awe inspiring at first but it has all that you would need and then some. I quickly learned that everyone at the gym has their own personalized training regiment as I do. There are no "bros" there just real people of all ages. Seriously 20's to 70's. When I go there now yes it's a gym but really it's a community. Everyone, people working out there included, are always happy to lend a helping hand. We cheer each other on whether someone is working through a tough set or going for a PR. We even have a monthly social night! Regardless of what you want to do; shed a few pounds, gain muscle mass, rehab through an injury, just try to have a healthy habit etc... I highly recommend joining this gym!

I joined Freedom Fit Gym 2 months ago and was one of the best decisions I’ve made. The gains that I have made, physically and mentally, since starting have exceeded my expectations. I tried training at another gym in the past with some success but at Freedom Fit, the staff is always available and goes above and beyond to support. My best friend and I have been working out together at Freedom Fit with Coach Trent for six weeks. We are both ladies of a certain age who have always taken care of ourselves. At this point in our lives we are determined to strengthen our bones, protect our joints, improve our balance and wear sleeveless dresses without shame. So we followed the lead of another friend who also works out at Freedom Fit and signed up.
Trent's background in kinesiology is reflected in the workouts he plans for us. He's a stickler for good form, explains the how and why of everything we do, and challenges us to go beyond the point where we would go on our own. The work we do is hard, but we're both seeing results already. We find ourselves laughing as much as groaning. Trent makes it fun.

I have been going to Freedom Fit Gym for three months now. My wife has worked out there for over three years. Even though she now has at least one state record for her age and weight class, I had resisted her multiple suggestions to start there as well. There is no doubt that strength training is beneficial as one ages - I'm 72 and in good health. But, arthritis and several surgeries later, I did not think that weight training was for me. But I was very wrong about that. The gym and the staff provide an incredibly friendly and personalized setting for one to slowly work up both the strength and the confidence to make real progress. I was especially worried about hurting my surgically repaired shoulder - now, I don't even give it a second thought. So, I would say that, if you want to build confidence and strength, with the help of amazing trainers, in a very comfortable and friendly setting, definitely talk to Joel and visit the gym.

These folks take broke-down people and fix them. It's like a halfway house between PT and a gym. Everyone on the floor helping has actual training, and not just from YouTube. From university. The first morning I didn't show (which for any other gym is a non-event), I got a text: "What's up? Everything ok?" Didn't miss again without a good reason and without letting someone know. Invaluable. I went from shoulder and knee surgery in 2021 and 2022 to competing deadlifting 240 lbs. My body feels better than it has in a couple decades.

I have been having one on one coaching for 3 months and have seen more careful attention to muscles and joints than I have ever had even at a rehab after joint replacement. I wanted to get back in shape and start lifting weights again after having 2 kids and developing the dad bod. I trained regularly in college (about 14 years ago), but I had not lifted weights since. I was looking to learn proper technique for some of the main strength training movements (squat, bench press, deadlift and overhead press) and establish a good workout routine so that I could train on a regular basis and not injure myself (toward the end of college I injured my shoulder from lifting, likely due to poor form). After doing some research I decided to give Freedom Fit a try based on the website and good reviews. Joel was my trainer and he is awesome. Going in, I let Joel know I would likely only be able to train for 6-12 weeks since my wife was leaving her job in the near future and our income would be cut in half. Joel was understanding and listened to what I wanted to get out of my training sessions. I got exactly what I was looking for (and then some). I learned a lot from Joel over a short period of time and he set me up to be able to continue to train successfully on my own. I was also very happy with my strength improvements from training with Joel over those ~12 weeks, I got stronger more quickly than if I had started lifting on my own, and without any of the injuries:). Joel is very professional and knowledgeable, and he was always happy to answer my many questions about strength training. He also makes the workouts fun and is great at motivating you to work hard. I really liked the set-up of the gym as well, definitely a great vibe. I plan to train at Freedom Fit again in the future and I would highly recommend this place!

My husband and I joined Freedom Fit 10 months ago for couples training. My personal goal was to gain more confidence in what my body could do as well as to be able to stay active as I age. My best friend and I started our fitness journey with Freedom Fit a little over 7 weeks ago. I have always been a lover of sports, but had never worked with a trainer. I wasn't sure what to expect when I first walked into Freedom Fit Gym, but I am glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and made the decision to partake in the couple training sessions. Not only did I build physical confidence-my mental confidence has blossomed as well. The atmosphere and people are absolutely amazing (the music is sometimes questionable lol) I have gotten to know some genuinely kind people-we support each other and we all have the same common goal to improve our lives for not only ourselves, but the people that love and depends on us!
7 weeks ago I never thought I would be pushing over 200 pounds or lifting 155 pounds.

I just finished a year at Freedom Fit. What a year! I have always been active, but never played sports competitively and never really knew what I was doing at the gym. With a consistent, dedicated program training three times a week, I went from no barbell skills to lifting a tremendous amount of weight. I'm in the best shape of my life -- better than I ever imagined I could be. I feel great.
The coaches at FFG are kind, knowledgeable, and supportive, and they work with people of all ages and all fitness levels. The community is welcoming and non-judgmental. I feel lucky to have found a "fitness home". The flyer from Freedom Fit appeared in my newspaper box at just the right time, as I recognized that my strength and endurance were evaporating due to pandemic inactivity. I scheduled a consultation; Joel was very encouraging, and any anxiety I had that I would feel out of place as an older woman disappeared. The program Leina developed for me is just the right amount of challenging, without ever leaving me too sore. I can see my strength growing, and muscles becoming more defined. Leina and Joel provide great coaching on how to perform each exercise correctly (Apparently I've been cheating on pushups all my life!) One thing I really appreciate is the welcoming attitude, not only from the owner and coaches, but from the other members. Even the "heavy lifters", in a different league as far as their own training programs, have been nothing but friendly and encouraging to this newbie.

Freedom Fit? More like Freaking Fantastic. Joel, Vinny, and the whole gang are absolutely phenomenal coaches who articulately and thoroughly walk you through the process of getting in shape, holding your hand every step of the way to make sure you are comfortable with the experience. There has never been a single session with Joel where I have not walked out satisfied (and sweat-soaked). Whereas Crossfit (which I have done three times) just tells you to do a bunch of moves you have no experience with really, really fast, Freedom Fit takes the opposite approach, and the results speak for themselves. I've been working out here for maybe 4 months and I'm already seeing changes in my shoulders, arms, legs, and butt. This place really is top of the line. I would give it six stars if I could.

Initially, I went to Freedom Fit to get back in some shape and to hopefully clear up some shoulder/ back pain. My goal was to be able to keep up with my two sons (Ages 5, 2). There were no expectations other than that. What happened was truly an expected extra. I formed friendships with the owner and my trainer. We seek each other out for not only opinions on fitness, but also about life and the associated challenges. Not only am I pain free now, but I am stronger at 38 than when wrestling in high school or playing Rugby in college. It's easy to keep up with my kids, and they think it's the coolest that I can now do push-ups when them on my back! You'll go in for fitness reasons, but you'll leave with more than you ever hoped for. I highly recommend Joel, Vinnie and Freedom Fit Gym.

I have struggled with back issues for 15 years and nothing I had tried was lasting or effective. After an assessment and three week crash course, I worked weekly with Joel virtually from Boston. I have since not taken any pain medication for my back and haven’t felt this good since college pre injuries. I worked with Joel on a strength training program for an eight week period. We ended up increasing all of my three major movements by about 20% (average of the three, see screen cap below.)
All in I had an incredible experience and will be returning to Joel's services once life slows down a little bit. I came to him with two goals in mind; strength and less pain. At the end of my eight week training I gained strength and found myself in significantly less to almost no pain in my movements. Joel focused on making sure the movements I did were movements executed the way my body moves- not how everyone else's body moves. Something I never thought about. Our anatomy is different no matter who we are and it's great to have the help of someone who can design programs based around anatomy and goals.
Thank you Joel for everything! I'm continuing the program you originally wrote with slightly increased weight and am still seeing strength gains!!

My Down Syndrome son loves to exercise!!!!! As he always states on our way home from Freedom Fit Gym. Joel is a great motivator. My son started exercising with Joel 7 months ago. Joel always has an educated, experienced and meaningful approach to any activity and exercise. And, I started training with Joel too (6 months ago). I've been working with Joel for the last couple of months. He is very knowledgeable and is serious about correct form. Adding weight is a privilege for those who has successfully mastered proper form. This is much different than other fitness programs. The gym is low key and friendly, but the training is serious and professional. It's a fun place to be and offers flexibility in schedule and packages. Joel is passionate about fitness and nutrition, but doesn't take himself too seriously and provides a comfortable and positive environment.

I've had a great time coming here and getting weekly 1 on 1s with Joel for the last couple of months. The guy's great, he takes his time, is thorough with his explanations, and always seems to be on top of his game. I chose this gym after trying 2 other ones prior to this one because of how personal Joel takes his job, so if you're looking for a gym where the PT actually cares about YOUR progress, this is it.

I have been a client of Joel's for the last year and a half, and i can honestly say that he knows what he is doing. Since starting with him, I have love 40+ pounds, and would have been more had I not been stubborn. He loves being able to work one on one with his clients and loves to see you reach your personal goals. The gym has a nice, friendly atmosphere, and its great to see Joel right at the front door.
