Overall, this facility offers everything one could need. However, my main concern is the cleanliness. I rarely see staff cleaning the equipment, and Iβve noticed that the same fingerprints have remained on the front doors for several months. I typically visit both in the mornings and evenings, and the glass doors consistently appear unclean. The same applies to the class rooms, Iβve even observed the same piece of hair on the floor for several weeks, which suggests that regular cleaning may be overlooked.β

Seems a lot of reviews on here are for the old golds that is now a crunch over off brambleton not the real golds gym at the airport. First off, the staff here are pretty good at least the regular staff, occasionally get the stuck up college kids at the desk but that's far in between. Constant cleaning crew working all hours. Golds doesn't own this building but it is completely falling apart. Needed a new roof 15 years ago when it snows or rains you'll def know. Equipment is super dated and yes some of it is falling apart but maintenance does a decent job maintaining it. This golds is considered the ugly unwanted step child I guess because they get everything second hand or hasn't had anything new in forever. Real gym rats don't care about shiny equipment tho and there's plenty of great equipment here. Hours are terrible. Definitely should be open by 4 am for the people that actually have day jobs and kids that want to get a workout in. Weekend hours are just plain dumb. Everyone would rather it be a 24 hour gym and for the cost you pay it should be. 2 decent size pools and a hot tub both barely get used. Sauna in the men's room I assume there's one in the ladies room. Day care is an extra 10 bucks with not great hours but nice staff for the most part. Day care is also very dirty as far as the floor. Don't recommend taking kids under 1 here due to staffing being overwhelmed normally just 1 person there as far as staff and kids that crawl will come back dirty and gross from floor. Also someone plz refill the hand sanitizers. A lot of rules are not enforced at this gym when management isn't there, like dudes taking there shirt off and posing in the weight area or girls wearing barely anything. Not a huge deal to me except when my 10 year old daughter is with me I don't need her seeing some half naked dude showing off his junk. And yes it's booty shorts and no shirts most the time. Would also be nice if they'd fix the dumbbell area management changed it so now it's a huge traffic jam and the weights are behind the benches because some knuckle heads kept breaking mirrors when they should have just charged that member for the mirror replacement instead of punishing the whole gym. Also noticed a few people taking videos of random people or pics of them without permission and a weird crowd has started to go there around 5 in the evenings . A little creepy but like I said rules are out of the window here most of the time. Overall in Roanoke this is the best gym in the Roanoke city area, if your closer to cavespring crunch would be a better option, if you want 24 hours elite fitness and m power and fgn are decent gyms . Also they offer classes which I suppose are great for the female clients cause they are always packed. They also host events for vendors and have family days. Seen a review on here about the manager being racist, I've never seen anything like that he's a military veteran and talks to everyone. The trainers here are all super friendly and offer decent rates for personal training.

Friendly staff. I love the hydro massager. I often use the pool and itβs pretty much available. They have aqua therapy classes too. Itβs pretty neat and organized and they allow you to use the equipment in the pool. Silver sneakers sign up is quick and easy. Use the card to scan in. Ample parking for disabled and also a ramp

Great gym. Big, clean, cool staff and lots of choices. The elliptical machine I used was good. And the stretching frame was real nice. My only issue is that there are not enough free weight plates if it gets busy. Lots of shifting plates from one piece of equipment to another.

What you are reading in the comments about the membership problems and overcharging are true. I cancelled my membership by contractual right early in the pandemic. Nevertheless, before I could do so, I was charged $120 by Gold's after the gym was closed by the Governor of Virginia. (Before that problem, 4/5 stars for a fairly well-maintained and clean gym.)

Itβs a trap. Theyβll say theyβll sign u up by a monthly payment but when you go to cancel theyβll tell u that you are in a contract with them for 12-24 months. You canβt get out of the contract without moving out of town or have a doctors note. Like what is this highschool?

It could be a nice gym. For over 35$ a month it's not worth it as it is now. The barbells are falling apart most of the seats/pads on the equipment are torn and falling apart. Gym needs serious updates. The staff are very friendly. They keep it clean and nice. If they wpuld update the equipment then this would've been a 4-5 star. Forcing a contract is a dumb business idea too but if you're serious about the gym wouldn't matter. I'll say again but the equipment needs serious updating. Pictures on Google maps are not accurate. Those photos are now crunch Golds looks different.

Nice Atmosphere
Nice gym to workout at, nice pool
Best instructors like Beth Denson, for zumba, body pump, and other classes like that. The manager Jay is a really nice dude
Basketball court isn't as busy as green ridge which is cool.
They have all an women's only workout area which is neat most gyms don't have that for women so that's cool to know like my fiancΓ© could work out in private so to speak. Smoothie bar, like a cycle cinema thing.
High volume gym super busy depending on times you go to lift.

I signed up for a 12 month membership at this golds location and was somehow locked into a 24 moth contract. Then was misinformed about the cancelation policy and denied ability to cancel despite providing what they required. The management here is crooked, money hungry, and will lie to you to get you to sign up. I have been a member of many gyms in my life and this has by far been the worst experience I have ever had. I do not recommend golds gym Roanoke, or any golds gym in that matter due to the complete lack of care towards their customer.

We have joined Golds this week. The reason I didn't rate it higher is because there's not really anyone to help explain how to properly use the equipment, unless you pay for a trainer. And there aren't any clear instructions for proper use either. Any way other than that we like the gym and have been going everyday since joining.

This is a solid, clean Gold's Gym. We went here on a travel pass and it was quick and simple to check in. The front desk manager was friendly and accommodating. Walking in brings you to the weight lifting area and one must take the stairs or elevator to reach the cardio equipment. It's clear the focus here is on weight lifting and personal training.
It's smaller than our home gym, but it did the trick. The treadmills were set up in a somewhat awkward place relative to the walkway that brings patrons to the cardio area. First world problem and I have no solution for it π

The staff have always been friendly but the owner doesn't seem to put much stock into taking care of current members. I've been a member for the better part of a decade. The gym now closes earlier than when I joined and a significant portion of the open gym floorplan has been taken away to make room for a class that members must pay a significant additional amount to participate in. Several people I know have joined for a much lower monthly price than I pay, so I asked a staff member about being placed on the newer pricing plan. I was told that I would have to cancel my current membership and pay an enrollment fee (I think he said 100.00). In other words, we receive less access to equipment along with more restricted hours of operation, and they want long time customers to pay huge enrollment fees to get the same monthly fees as someone just signing up? That's not customer service or loyalty in the slightest. On a side note, the equipment could seriously use some upkeep or replacement.

The Golds Gym facilities on Electric are average, the employees are nice enough and the management is less than average. My major complaint with the place is the way they choose to conduct business and treat the people who sign up for memberships. They require you to sign a one year contract and have devious and convenient clauses in the contract that allow them to squeeze their members for all they are worth. When the year contract is over they do not bother to inform you but simply continue to charge you. In order to cancel a membership you must wait for your year contract to finish even if you are no longer using their facilities. After the year is over they require you to come physically to the gym to cancel, this is to βinsure itβs really you canceling.β As you can imagine this policy makes it very difficult for anyone who no longer lives in the area to cancel and they continue to charge you all the extra time it takes you to work things out.
If that is not bad enough they also require a 30 daysβ notice before they cancel your membership. This means that if you come in to cancel you membership in December they will still charge you the one year $50 βmembership maintainerβs feeβ in January. They have shrewdly designed their membership system to take advantage of their members in as many ways as possible.
When you confront them about these issues the management are contrite and apologetic and offer to explain the contract to you so you know there is really nothing they can do to help you, all the while robbing you blind.
Take heed because these issues can be avoided if you are forewarned of their wily tricks and their dishonest intentions.
Other than that, the place is nice enough.

I joined Gold's Gym in August 2014 and immediately began working out with a trainer at the gym, Jane Seymour. I've been working out with her since August and she has helped me tremendously. She's educated about the exercises I perform, offers helpful tips on performing the exercises correctly, and is very supportive of my workouts and attempt to be more healthy.
I've worked out at various times during the day (as early as 7:00 am and as late as 6:30 pm) and I can routinely workout with the machines of my choice. The staff is friendly and helpful.
I have also attended the Body Flow class on several occasions, and found it to be a great, low impact yoga/pilates type workout.

I've only been going to Gold's at Cave Spring Corners for about three months. I started out with a free week to try out their Crossfit AGX program. I liked it, so I signed up for a trial month. I realized that I loved it.
I'm woman on the back side of her 40's, and have participated in lots of sports throughout my lifetime; but found myself suffering from a decided lack of activity and a less than optimal middle-aged metabolism. So, bad cardio, very poor strength and lots of old injuries and joints that like to complain.
I was dubious about starting something as intensive as Crossfit. But the trainers at Golds have been super accommodating. They all have been able to both scale and modify any part of a workout that I've had difficulty with. They have always listened to me and there has been absolutely NO judgement. They WANT me to be successful and have better health; so they're using their immense expertise to enable me to do that.
Yes, it is still hard. Yes, it hurts! But, no pain, no gain. The pain is commensurate to how hard I've pushed myself. I can definitely tell that my cardio has improved, I'm SOOOoo much stronger and I feel really good about the changes I'm seeing and feeling. I've not lost a tremendous amount of weight overall, but my body composition is changing and I've gone down a size in clothing.
In addition, I've run into lots of old friends at Gold's and have made quite a few new friends through crossfit. I've loved the sense of community and support. It's never the same workout, the group dynamics change, we cheer each other on, laugh together and celebrate one another's accomplishments.
I can't say enough about the positive experience I've had here.

I absolutely LOVE Gold's Gym at Cave Springs!! The hours are convenient, the gym is always clean, and the staff are always friendly and helpful ( even at 4:30am). I utilize the showers about 2-3 times a week and have never had any issues with the cleanliness which is very important to me.
The Crossfit classes are amazing, I never regret going to a class. I have been doing Crossfit for 4 months now and have noticed huge improvements. The coaches are all very motivating and take pride in what they do.

I have been a member of several different gyms in the valley, and I would proudly recommend golds 419 to anyone! From the most experienced athlete, to a beginner. They have wonderful classes and amazing instructors for people just getting started. They also have any and every piece of equipment for the more experienced individuals. The trainers, staff, and owners are all some of the kindest people you could ever hope to meet. I have personally received help both inside and outside of the gym from multiple people of the "Golds Family". They have very convenient hours and an even more convenient location. From my experience they've always given it their all to be there for their members. Last years snow storm only held them up for about 18 hours, and then the doors were open! One of the only facilities to work that hard for their members. amazing gym, and amazing people.

I've been a member of this gym for several years now. I can't say enough positive things about the class times, offerings (hot yoga, spin, Les Mills, Crossfit etc), and instructors. Their staff is always so friendly and willing to help with everything. I have a 1 year old and 3 year old who love coming to the kid's club which makes it easy to be consistent with my routine. I've recently started their AGX Crossfit program and find it completely addictive. The weight loss and strength gains I've experienced are directly related to their strong programming. I honestly look forward to going there and feel like I'm acheiving the fitness goals I've been working towards for so long!

I love this gym, everyone is friendly and helpful. The front desk staff are always welcoming when you walk in. Gold's also has a great child care, my kids love coming everyday and look forward to playing with other kids and staff. The childcare staff truly care about my kids and always make me feel at ease to leave them in there while I work out.
I started Gold's AGX CrossFit over a year ago and it is the best box in the area. All of the trainers are awesome, they are very knowledgable with correct form and safety. Johnathon Childress, Bobby Middaugh and Jane Seymour always instruct, coach, and encourage you to do better every day. They are just as excited when you PR on a lift. Thanks to the great coaches I am in the best shape of my life. If you are looking for a great box Gold's AGX Crossfit is the best in the area.

When I meet someone who excels at what they do, I know that person is doing exactly what they were meant to do. Personal trainer Jane Seymour is one of those people. Her instruction, knowledge, patience, and attitude are second to none. Her satisfaction comes from a genuine desire to help people reach their next fitness goal. If they try something and fail, she suffers along with them. If they try and succeed, their own mothers couldn't be more proud! As a Crossfitter and a woman, I find her demonstrations of Olympic lifts to be priceless. The male trainers are just as masterful in their instruction, however, I prefer Jane's demonstrations because we share the same physiology. I'm impressed with the whole facility, as well as the staff and trainers at this gym, but I owe my health and fitness level exclusively to Jane.

I have been at Gold's AGX CrossFit for over a year, and it is definitely the best box in the area. I had no previous training in lifting or CrossFit, but the instructors are awesome. Johnathon Childress and Bobby Middaugh are not only constantly encouraging to us, but they are both very knowledgable and coach us on a daily basis on correct form to stay safe and on how to become stronger. They have helped me to get in the best shape of my life. I would highly recommend anyone to come check out the box and give it a try.
