Very rude Asian staff or trainer, For the first time I walked to join and I was allowed to go around and see the establishment, I went trough an exit where it clearly said exit at the end of other side of the gym with RED SIGN EXIT to see where this goes and all of the sudden an Asian apparently trainer or staff shouted very nasty with accent that is not the exit that goes to corporate office !!!!! I told him sorry I hah no idea that is not an exit but REALLY IT WAS an exit because it clearly says EXIT!, how the hell I know which is which as a first time walking in and I saw the other side of the street, back of the gym, I asked him and he rudely loudly pointed that is the exit meaning where I came in from. I don’t feel comfortable to join with that kind of attitude.

It's a very good gym but I wish the hours were longer. Recently they raised their prices - trying to be understanding due to Biden's inflation but if they do it again I'm leaving. Overall it's clean and well maintained, though some machines sometimes have cracked pads

This location is well-maintained, and has a full swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and sauna as well as a large variety of cardio and weight machines and free weights. Several dedicated rooms allow for custom spin, weight, and floor exercises. Take advantage of the free hour of personal training to get started. I've been working with Mariah D. for a year, and she has been the perfect person to ease this grandfather back into exercise safely and enjoyably. She's professional, very knowledgeable, and pleasant to work with. She keeps an eagle eye on me, and calibrates each workout to my capabilities on that day. She has experience working with my knee and hip replacements as well. Every movement in my daily life has been made easier and safer, from getting out of bed, or in and out of the shower, or in and out of my car. Five stars!

I really like this location due to the variety of classes available. Out of the ones I've tried, I really enjoy the body pump class and is the main reason I continue going and staying consistent at the gym.

However, going for a regular work out is quite different.. this gym is a lot smaller than other locations and doesn't seem to have enough equipment for the amount of people coming in. There's also a huge lack of mirrors which may sound like a personal compliant but it's a lot easier to maintain good form when I can actually see what I'm doing.

A lot of the equipment is normally taken by large groups of people so you end up waiting long periods of time or having to just do something else and hope that's available...

Pool is a nice addition and staff is always nice and helpful.

This place is more of a 4.5 out of 5 for me and has become my go-to spot for fitness. The Burn Studio classes and my favorite GGX instructor are truly irreplaceable, offering both incredible fitness results and a strong sense of community that I haven’t found anywhere else. While the facility could benefit from some updates, I’m hopeful that a well-deserved renovation is on the horizon. The staff here are some of the best, making every visit an enjoyable experience.

I have been attending this goal gym location since it opened. The great thing about the gym is Christian. He opens on time every day by 5am. He is polite and helpful. Without him we couldn’t get our workouts in before work. I shower there at least twice a week and the locker room is not cleaned regularly. The women’s locker room is unsanitary. On multiple occasions, I have sent emails with pictures to the manager. Typically, it will be clean a week or two and then it’s back to disgusting showers that in the past had black flies in them.

Any Monday the receptacles are filled with wipes overflowing into the floor all around the gym. The equipment isn’t cleaned regularly. The arc trainers and elliptical machines have dust and dirt all over them. There was a towel on the floor in front of my elliptical and I documented it there everyday for 4 days. Obviously this makes lazy gym members feel like they don’t need to clean up after themselves. The machines often are loaded down with plates.

Perhaps in 2025 they will hire a cleaning crew that will keep the place clean!

The gym has a good amount of equipment (cardio, resistance, cables, etc) and a good range of weights, but it’s in desperate need of a remodel. There are dents in the floor, some of the barbells are bent, a few of the benches are unstable, and it’s clear that most things haven’t been updated or maintained at all. The pool is a great feature although it is closed on a somewhat regular basis, but it’s good they’re maintaining it. The sauna is also a big plus for me and they have the equipment I need. It’s not a premier gym but it gets the job done!

Very well kept gym with lots and lots of equipment. Staff were very friendly, the whole gym seemed really spacious with a swimming pool. Everyone was wiping down and picking up equipment after use. Location of the building seemed ideal as well in a nice shopping plaza and neighborhood.

This place is unlike any Golds I have been to over the years. I used to frequent the Ashburn, Sterling and Clocktower Golds before they all closed down and this one is smaller than all of those by a LOT. Additionally, the space they do have isn’t used well because they have a huge area reserved for weightlifting classes that they don’t allow you to enter unless you are there for a class. Like they will come kick you out for using a barbell in there even though it’s empty and all the barbells in the main gym are taken. Such a disappointment for the price I pay monthly.

Another huge issue is-
This is the only gym I have ever been to that I have had to wait to use a treadmill. And not just once, it’s anytime I go on a weekday after work. I understand it will be crowded at rush hour but they have like, TEN treadmills and 2-3 of them are always broken. I have been using many gyms all around nova for 10 years now and again, have NEVER had to wait for a TREADMILL as long and as often as I have here. They do seem to have like 20 of those weird step elliptical things but every gym should, and usually does, have a plethora of treadmills.

There are good things too though like heavy DBs, powerlifting platforms and the good machines Golds is known for. They do also have the weird Hoist machine that planet fitness is known for and they are weird but whatever

Having recently relocated to this area in November 2016, I was eager to find a new gym to continue my fitness routine. I've been a gym-goer for over 15 years, having frequented various facilities in North Carolina. The gym in question immediately caught my attention due to its well-equipped facilities, offering a wide range of fitness equipment.

However, my overall experience has been marred by a significant issue - the staff's attitude, particularly those manning the front desk. It is with regret that I must express my dissatisfaction with the level of customer service provided by the employees in this aspect of the gym.

While the gym itself boasts excellent equipment and meets my fitness needs, the same cannot be said for the individuals responsible for customer interactions. The front desk staff, in particular, have proven to be some of the rudest individuals I've encountered in my years of gym-going. A friendly greeting or a simple inquiry about their day is often met with blank stares or dismissive attitudes, leaving me feeling unwelcome and unappreciated.

This lack of basic courtesy and professionalism is disheartening, especially considering the positive experiences I've had in gyms throughout my time in North Carolina. It's essential for a gym to not only provide top-notch facilities but also foster a welcoming environment for its members.

As I plan to move a short distance from the current area, I've made the decision not to continue my membership at this gym. If you value friendly interactions and a positive atmosphere while working out, I would advise considering other options in the area.

In conclusion, the gym's exceptional equipment is overshadowed by the disappointing customer service provided by the front desk staff. I sincerely hope that the management addresses this issue to create a more welcoming environment for all members.

I have been dealing with a billing issue with Gold’s Gym DC Metro for several months.

As you can see from the majority of the reviews here, they are very quick to sign you up for membership and training sessions, but they want to continue billing you even after you cancel.

I was attending the Reston location, and the gym closed in May and was supposed to open in its new location in June. It is now September 22, and the new gym is NOT open yet. Even though I put my membership on hold while waiting for the new location to open, Gold’s Gym billed me for the time the Reston location was closed.

When I spoke with them, they said they would resolve this, but instead, they submitted my account to their collection agency (Aldous & Associates). This was in spite of the fact that I paid them for the time that I wasn’t able to attend the gym.

RUN away from this place. Don’t sign up for anything.

This location is amazing! I’ve been going here since they opened and the previous location. The manager Johnathan, who has been at this location for some time has grown into this role and is by far the best in the business.
The location is always clean, equipped is in amazing working condition. The organized classes from what I observed are run well. My only complaint is a few personal trainers are not that personable and have not been impressed however, a few of the new personal trainers seem to be more engaging, friendlier, and have their game face of excellence!
The gym is well established and I recommend highly!

Went to this location after the Herndon ClockTower Gold’s location closed and was extremely disappointed in the contrast. Disappointed enough to cancel my membership on the spot. Very small space with limited equipment for the cost. Did not seem to be organized very well as I waited 15 minutes in a line just to speak to the front desk. Do yourself a favor; save some money and go to a Planet Fitness or spend the extra few bucks and get a much better experience for the money at a Lifetime Fitness.

I went to this location to have my regular work , just because the normal location that I go to is closed for remodeling. I decided to use one of the rooms that is for stretching and small weights to work out my arms. When I entered, there there was a lady training someone, but she did not say anything to me about not being there when trainers were training their customers. The trainer finished with her customer and left. In less than 5 minutes, this male trainer came with a customer to train him. I was not close to them, not bothering them at all. Suddenly, the trainer came to me and told me that I was not allowed to be there when they were training a customer, so I told him, "Well, that is interesting because, the trainer that was here before you did not say anything to me about it. The trainer decided to call the manager of the gym to let him know that I was inside the room. I went to speak with the manager and explained to him that the trainer that was there before never told me that I was not allowed to be there. The manager's response was that I was not supposed to be there. Also, there was no sign at all that people were not supposed to be there when they were training someone. The manager started fighting with me back and forth and not giving me the best customer service. I told the manager that I was at this location for the first time, and nobody told me at the front desk the rules about this gym. How can they expect a new customer to follow rules that they don't tell anyone else about, and don't post any signs regarding them and then argue with a customer?! Exactly what kind of service is this and why is it only enforced with select people? Had the manager made a decision to discuss in a civil way with respect, then this could have gone much differently.

BEWARE BEFORE CANCELLING*

My wife and I canceled before our contract was technically up. We not only called, but stopped in to confirm we could cancel with "zero" cancelation fees. The front desk guy assured us we would only have to pay one final month and then we wouldn't owe anything else. We happily signed, thankful for our help.

One month later, we both get charged for our final bill, and $100 each for an early cancelation fee. I called the manager and he said he "couldnt" help us, because of what we initially signed in our first contract. The fact that his employee lied to us about a hidden fee meant nothing, and he kept denying any responsibility, stating it was our fault for not reading the original contract. I had to dispute it with my bank to try to make any headway on the charges..

Long story short, if you ever need to cancel, don't trust what anyone at this gym says. You'll get charged an extra $100 and told you're out of luck. Hopefully this saves someone from getting lied to like my wife and I.

I like this gym a lot. The equipment is good quality and it's nice to see the same people working out regularly. I switched to a cheaper gym for a year and the ellipticals there were not great for my knees so I came back to Gold's.

The main downside for me is that the lifting area is not very private. Some regulars wouldn't mind but I would love to be able to use a side room.

I had a wonderful experience with personal training at this Gold's as well. The cost adds up but it was a life changing experience for me!

This is very clean, equipments are well maintained, the pool and the hot tubs are good. The staff are super friendly. The yoga and aerobic classes are so good. We love this gym. John is very courteous and efficient. We have been using this facility since a ling time and never had a single issue. Even though we do not subscribe to any special trying programs we always get help with a smile from Jonathan. Great place.

I don’t remember a time I ever gave a business a bad review but this is well deserved. I have been a Gold’s Gym member in other location for over a year without an issue. Then I switched to this location few months ago. I canceled my membership IN PERSON before I moved to a new city back in May. 2 months after cancellation I noticed I am still being charged for membership. Today, I called the Gym and spoke the general manager Jonathan regarding the situation. He basically told me it’s because I forgot to cancel my membership and I was suppose to fill out a form when I canceled my membership. However, the person who helped me at the front desk when I canceled my membership did not offer me any paperwork to sign. The supposed general manager, Jonathan was very rude and unhelpful. He was unwilling to fully to hear my side of things or to call the person who helped me during cancellation or even look up camera recordings from the day I canceled my membership. Hence, I cannot get a refund. If you’re reading this Mr. Jonathan, you could have handled the situation differently. Everything is not about money. I really hope the $60 you refuse to refund me makes a difference in your life luv. Cheerio!

Golds passing down the covid costs to long term customers. Bad golds.
3, 3 entirely separate price hikes. I assigned my friend to my own account I'd had several years already, fully expecting for pay 2x the monthly fee.
Nope. I get billed a whole new annual fee. On top of the already predatory practice of switch from 12 monthly fees to bi weekly fees. Adding countless more "half" cost payments. With my friend and I, I ended up paying 6 times PER MONTH from October to December. Not including the hundreds dollar annual fees, both of which hit in November.

Been going to this gym since they opened, great gym except if you are planning to use the sauna it's the most disgusting thing you'll experience, people go in there to dry their underwear/socks/shirts est 🤮 they will lay their laundry right over the heater and walk out like it's normal 🤦🏼‍♂️ .. people are disgusting sure but I have never seen that in any other gyms

This is a great facility. I've been a member for about a week or so. It's clean, organized, other members seem pretty great as well. My only gripe is weekend hours are a little short. If it was 7am-9pm or something that'd be great just to have a bigger window to work with. Other than that, there's no other issues really. I'm glad I left xsport fitness in Fairfax!

Overall great place to lift. Very spacious, clean and employees won't bother you if you need to get intense and lift big weights.

The only reason I give them 4 stars is because they don't allow me to bring my own barbell. As an elite lifter I need to pull with my own deadlift bar during heavy training phases. I also would like to bring my farmer's walk handles or log to train strongman events. These won't happen at this gym. Managers think there is a liability issue but everybody knows the chance that the issue will happen is slim to none. Meanwhile The Gold's Gym in Annandale totally allows me to bring my own equipment.

In conclusion, I do recommend this gym. They have a good selection of machines where you can do accessory exercises. However keep in mind if you are a strongman athlete or powerlifter (especially strongman), the level you can reach by training at this gym is limited.

I joined Golds Gym in Feb and it has been awesome for the most part.

I do Golds Fit or Golds Burn usually 3-4 times a week with Caroline, Eduardo or Matt! They’re all amazing trainers/coaches! They don’t make me feel uncomfortable, and I’ve learned so much training with them! If you commit to coming here 3-4x a week, it’s worth the membership upgrade. However, I do miss Bull coaching our classes too!

I took away one star because this club is enforcing covid guidelines to a degree. However, I see many members without a mask. it’s quite frustrating given the current guidelines for VA.

I go to 4 differents Gold gym location in Arlington but this one is the least safe as far as COViD 19 preventions.
Beside the people who are doing cardio, on a busy time I was surrounded by a least 12 people without any Masks protection in the weight lift area.
I complained to the manager but after 20 min still no enforcement of masks wearing by gym member.

Today I came back to give one more try and the Managment stepped up their game!
I m very happy and proud of all the efforts of management team to remind people to wear the mask properly during work out.
I felt much more safe and I hope they ll keep this high standard till covid is not longer dangerous.

The gym itself is fine. Wait until you want to cancel, then the nightmare begins. I got billed a month after they closed due to COVID which I thought was a bit shady. I then mailed a letter to their corporate office in April since the gym was closed at that time expressing my desire to cancel my membership. For 5 months now, they deny ever receiving it and continue to charge my card. I've attempted to dispute the charge, and they file a chargeback dispute with the credit card company. I've called their number to the office in Dallas and spoken with numerous different employees. As a month to month member (active duty military) I had no unpaid dues, fees or contract requirement. I will NEVER do business with Gold's Gym or any of their affiliates again. This is a joke.

Which the manager himself told me that if I move and it’s 50+ miles away from the golds gym then I could cancel my membership. Well I moved 250+ miles away and they will not let me cancel. I’m so glad that they offer Zumba classes (and many more other classes) it has been a great help to my workout routine. I atleast can make it to three classes per week due to perfect timings in the evening. I’m also a huge fan of the sauna in the locker room. The staff are all very friendly and attentive to any questions or concerns. The staff they hire for maintenance and cleanliness of the establishment are very professional and friendly. I truly appreciate their hard work. This facility is very welcoming, clean, reasonable, and a motivational environment.

The gym has a great location, plenty of safe parking. Every kind of workout under the sun. Most of the classes are free within the membership price. For example there are three different types of yoga classes. The pool is the cleanest I have ever seen. There is always an open lane as people don't seem interested so much in swimming. The staff is. Congenial and Anthony is especially knowledgeable. The people who workout at the club are generally friendly.I have never seen the gym crowded never. Spin classes are notoriously expensive but are free till the end of the year. Don't waste your opportunity, they are great fun! The custodial women do a superb job the club is spotless! Some of the negative critiques may be legitimate but for the most part they are written by hypersensitive whiners wanting to vent you know the type. Join the club I guarantee you will enjoy the experience!

Previous Chantilly location was 100 times better. New location is smaller than the old, staff isn't friendly, crowded, and on top of that they try to charge members an additional fee because it's a level 2. So with the additional charge and "added" amenities, my friends and I tried to use the "level 2" space and weights; RUDE worker demands to us to get out and tells us that the room is only available for use during certain hours. Ummmm..... then why do we need to pay a higher price if we can only use certain "level 2" equipment/space at certain times? I'm there late night so most of those rooms aren't being occupied at all. Gold's gym has really downgraded with this move.

10 year old membership didn’t transfer to this new location. Smaller facility, no nutrition bar, and less than helpful staff. They are located in an old shopping center, with nothing else around it. I’m not sure what makes this a higher level facility than the others I’ve been to. They claim it’s the access to the pool...it’s the size of a kiddie pool with two lanes. BEWARE OF YOUR CREDIT CARD! I have been in disputes with Gold's for over charging my card. I tried several times to talk with the managers. I was "ghosted". I disputed with my credit card company. They found in my favor!! But in the meantime, 4 months after I left, they are still throwing random charges on my card!!! I was hurt so badly in the very beginning.Staff wanted to up sell, (two days of worthless orientation) extra features to me,as soon as I denied, he didn’t even give me basic walkthrough and basic safety instructions. I told him that I have never used these mechine and what is my goal.
