I’ve been training at Guerrilla Athletics and couldn’t be happier. I’m down 30 pounds and feeling better than I have in years, all thanks to their functional strength and conditioning program. The workouts are challenging in the best way, and the trainers are both friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. I actually look forward to hitting the 12:30 class every day. The people here have become real friends, and the community is unbeatable. Highly recommend.

The owners and trainers truly care about the clients. Danny went out of his way to make sure a trainer would be onsite at 4:30pm so I could work out safely and have an accountability partner. I really appreciate it! Keep up the good work!

I have been very happy with the new ownership of Guerilla athletics. The new owners have been very transparent and have bent over backwards to make sure that our “gym family” is happy. They have been very responsive to any emails or text in regard to our concerns with training or the Gym in general. They have taken every suggestion we have made to continue to make this the best Gym for us. They continue to transition quickly to make sure our needs are met and in doing so overnight they were able to make sure we were not without a trainer for our daily workouts. I have really enjoyed the new trainer KD. He is very enthusiastic and encouraging. His workouts are definitely butt kickers.
I am so thankful that I am able to continue to go to the same gym and work out with the same Gym family. I truly appreciate everything that they have done. I would highly encourage anyone to check out Guerilla athletics.

Guerrilla Athletics is a great gym. There has been some transition there and the owners have been nothing but professional and supportive. The camaraderie amongst the gym members is world class! KD is one of the new trainers and his workouts will kick your butt! He is motivating and encouraging throughout the whole workout. I encourage new members to try the gym for yourself 😊

This is a unique small gym community. It has recently switched owners and so has had some bumps as people are adjusting and deciding what is best for them. But the new owner is open to communication, involved in direction of the gym's growth and focused on fostering a community environment. New trainers are bringing workouts focused on functional fitness with both weights and movements. The trainers I've worked with so far are attentive to clients, monitoring form to reduce injury and actively making adjustments for those of us with injuries and limitations. The small size means you can get individual attention and customized workouts if needed. They are in the process of replenishing equipment and updating technology. If you're tired of big classes where you are anonymous, then this may be the place for you.

Guerilla Athletics is a great, clean, friendly gym. The owners are attentive to their clients needs and focused on creating a friendly, family oriented place to workout. It is clean with plenty of equipment to suit anyones needs. The trainer brings a hype and enthusiasm that makes you smile even when the workout is kicking your butt!

The staff is super friendly. The gym is always clean and neat. You don’t have to worry about not having enough space to work out because there is plenty of room inside the facility. They offer an open gym plan, which is perfect if you’re in town, visiting family of friends and looking for a small local gym to work out in. Anytime I have had a question or concern about something, management is very timely in responding to emails. Great facility overall that offers a children’s area for clients that want to work out, but have to bring a child along with them." Highly recommended gym!

I had my first class with KD today. I loved his enthusiasm and the structure of the workout was good. I felt like he was looking out for me especially, since we hadn’t worked out together before, but it wasn’t overt. Had a great class, and I look forward to working out with him again!

Update: This gym is under new ownership as the original owner is moving. He was still teaching classes though and that was the selling point for me. Without prior notice to any of his clients, the new owners decided to terminate him as a contractor halfway through the month which means I paid for classes that I now will not get. This is extremely unprofessional and as a result I will be finding a new gym and do not recommend this gym.
Update #2:
I requested a partial refund as the trainer I signed up for is no longer at this gym. I was told that they will not be giving me a refund as they are trying to substitute classes taught by someone else. That is not what I paid for, and I have no interest in a substitute. To say I can still attend classes is disingenuous and is like a store trying to send you a substitute because they do not have what you want in stock.
Update #3:
After arguing with the new owner via email all yesterday about wanting a partial refund he decided to tell me that I am being emotional. It’s always nice when misogynists out themselves like that. All of this could’ve been avoided if a partial refund of $47 was issued because at the end of the day I paid for classes taught by a specific person and that person is no longer teaching classes there, regardless of whether or not he got terminated or quit.

Want a real gym where you won't feel intimidated because everyone is at different levels of fitness and have different body types yet all are there with the same goal of just getting stronger and working on a healthier life, this is the place for you. Many different trainers to choose from depending on your goals or just come in and do your own individual thing.

They have a lot of different equipment, so if you’re into functional fitness, Olympic lifting, or weightlifting your covered. With that being said, they’ve done a great job fitting in a lot without it feeling overcrowded.

This gym is wonderful for families with littles --they get to play in a safe area while parents set an example for caring for the body&mind. It's a win-win!

Decent sized gym offering a range of equipment that suits weightlifting, calisthenics, or CrossFit. The weights downstairs are new and the upstairs portion has a closed off area for the kids to play (it does get a little warm up there on the sunny days but there are fans to accommodate). Going around peak traffic hours when most people are getting off work (4-6) is no issue at this gym. There are classes offered at this gym but they are no disturbance if you are trying to work out solo. It is also very sanitary, I have yet to see someone not wipe down equipment they just used and there’s no lingering gym smell. All things considered, having a vast range of gear to use, kids area, sauna, 24/7 access is well worth the price of $50 ($45 for military). This gym is the perfect hidden gem of Newport News.
