I do not recommend this gym. Gym America. The owner of the gym is a bully with a bad temper. Watch out. Additionally, the equipment at the gym is poor quality. Most of all, it lacks large foam pits for gymnasts to safely practice their skills. It's really hard to improve and build skills without proper foam pits. The owner, Laura, is toxic.

8 yr old enjoyed camp and had fun. They did a great job of sending out paperwork and clear guidelines and information in advance.

Super lax pickup policy that made me uncomfortable as we’d spent most of the summer doing camps through FFX county where we had to show an ID to pick up our child and get checked out by an actual person.
Gym America just had a table by the front door full of sheets listing all the names of the kids registered for camps and anyone could walk in and see who was signed out or still needed picked up. You didn’t even have to interact with a person, just list what time you were picking up your kid and go get them. At one point I was picking up a friend’s daughter as well and I told the attendant (who was at a window, being a wall, on the other side of the room) that I was doing this and she asked if I was listed on the paperwork as an authorized pickup person and I said yes, but she never verified the paperwork to confirm this, just directed me back the hall on where to pick up the kids from the after care program.
Would advocate for a more secure process for ensuring safety of kids at their camp and being picked up.

We loved both the Ninja Week and the full day Gymnastics camps that we went to at Gym America. Our daughter entered each day excited and left beaming. We knew she was being engaged each day when she came home with a number of projects like the homemade marble run and many new tumbling skills. The staff does a wonderful job with the kids. We honestly wished we’d signed up for more.

The program feels more like an overpriced daycare, where unqualified high school students supervise while parents stay glued to their phones. There is little to no structured instruction, no qualified gymnastics coaches, and the facility lacks basic safety equipment and features. Worse, the instructors make young children move heavy equipment instead of doing it themselves, showing a clear lack of effort despite being paid to oversee the program. With such poor oversight, kids could easily get hurt, making this a serious risk and a complete waste of time and resources.

I have been thoroughly impressed with Gym America over the past three years that my daughter has been attending. The coaches are incredibly skilled and dedicated, providing a supportive and encouraging environment that helps each gymnast reach their full potential. My daughter has not only developed her gymnastics skills but has also gained confidence and a love for the sport thanks to the positive atmosphere and personalized attention. I highly recommend Gym America to anyone looking for a great gymnastics program where kids can thrive both physically and personally. My daughter is now 6 and has been waiting for summer to end so she can start back up in the fall for her fourth year.

The girls are loving it. My oldest is growing in confidence and picking up new skills. The youngest is having a blast and also developing well as a result.

I was a gymnast there for 6 years and I barely learned anything. I was treated horrible. I cried every practice in the bathroom because of the head coach Alyssa. She would yell at kids when they cry. She played favorites with the level 8/9. She never yelled at them but she always yelled at the β€œlower” levels. She made so many people cry and become depressed. It was a traumatizing experience and I definitely don’t recommend going there.

Gym America is a great place for young kids. My son has had a real transformation at this place and simply loves it here. The summer camp is an ideal mix of creative activities in the classroom with interesting physical activities at the gym. I will definitely be a regular at Gym America

My daughter has been part of the team program for 5+ years. She loves the coaches and the program challenges her to grow and learn new skills. The gym is more more focused on ensuring the kids have a good time and work at their own pace than pushing them to do skills they aren't ready to do. It has been a great place for my daughter to build lastly friendships too.

Gym America has consistently been a great place to both work and attend. They have much improved in recent years and take all necessary precautions to keep their gymnasts safe, supported, and passionate for the sport. If you are looking for a gym that is like a family this is the place to be :)

I have coached at the gym since 2014. It has been an amazing experience to watch the gym, program, and kids grow throughout the years. I have absolutely loved taking the team kids to competitions and watching them progress.

I remember when I was a student here, and I absolutely hated it. I was so glad to quit and the coaches were not the best, we were constantly treated like ragdolls, we were ridiculed, and it was just messy.

Both my boys did a summer camp there last week and we registered with a few friends. All the boys were begging not to go back. They said the camp counselors were mean and would yell at them constantly. My son got yelled at for not being able to do a split!? One of the counselors was excited to tell me how awful my kids were only to find out that he got the kids confused and he was telling me about someone else’s kids. The staff is young and needs more training. It’s a lot of money to be around teens that really don’t want to play with kids. There was some military aspect to it as well as the other reviews stated. Making the kids do planks and burpees if they weren’t listening. Disappointed. We won’t be back.

The lady with us was very rude and enrolled my daughter into beginners because she was scared of the bars. And she did put her with presumably 5 to 7 years old. Though the equipment was very clean and the space was huge.

The owner of this place is very rude and unprofessional. I would avoid at all cost. Treating little kids like they are in the military makes no sense. Learn some professional skills.

My daughter loves gymnastic and so we signed her up for a week of summer camp in this place. She got hurt on her foot the first day of the camp. But there is no communication whatsoever: no coach came out during pickup and told us what happened to her and how she got injured and what action staff took to take care of her. There was no accident report of any sort.
After we ask for possible refund or switching days. We were told there is no refund and make up days only allowed with Dr’s note stating she is not able to safely walk. But even with Dr’s note, I will not send my daughter back to this place, because I don’t think their gym and staff is offering proper monitoring and protection to kids. I have sent my kid to different gyms many times and she never got any injuries or accidents. On the contrary, she got hurt on the very first day at their gym. We will never set foot in this gym again.

I went there a few years ago and it was one of the worst places I've been to for gymnastics. I was there for a whole year but Laura was extremely rude to me and I remember even crying on the bathroom once because of how stressed I was.

My 5 year old daughter has been going to Gym America for 2 years now and she loves it! The trainers are fun and professional at the same time, they have personalized approach to kids and it definitely teaches them discipline and love for gymnastics!

I strongly recommend visiting in you are in Reston/Herndon/Sterling/Chantilly area, the gym is conveniently located right off rt. 28 and the tuition fees are very reasonable for the area! Laura, the owner, is doing an amazing job!

My son has been with the gym for several years and absolutely loves it. The new facility has been a big improvement. The boys coach, Mark, is great. He has high expectations but makes it fun. I feel like it's a relatively low pressure fun team experience.

I came to the gym to learn new skills, but Laura let other kids in my level learn new skills, but not me. It's not right to not let a student learn while everyone else in the class does, and I was so happy the day I left the gym

My 6 year old daughter had been going to Gym America for the past year or so. There doesn't seem to be a lot of consistency with teachers and little to no to demonstration or form correction for the kids. Showing them how to do something and then physically helping them execute would go a long way towards teaching kids the proper form and helping them advance. The straw that broke the camel's back for me though was watching Laura drag my daughter by the arm like a rag doll from one end of the vault area to the other saying 'if you're gonna act like a 3 year old, I'm going to treat you like a 3 year old.' Completely inappropriate to manhandle a child and speak to them that way. Trust me, I get frustrated with my kids too but I would never talk to mine, let alone someone else's, kids that way.

Just started the new adult gymnastics classes here and it was supper fun! The coach for the class, Mark is a supper chill guy and has great experience in gymnastics. As someone who had 0 experience in gymnastics before hand, he made it really stress free to get into the sport. My first class was packed with tumbles, flips and bar exercises which made me feel like I was actively learning the sport for the entire class. If you're interested in gymnastics, but you're worried about your age, don't be. This is a great place to start.

The classes are disorganized, kids and parents all over the place. One instructor is supposed to be teaching but instead of helping the kids, they are dealing with registration. So the ratio was 1:14 instead of 1:7. No correction on form or proper technique during exercise. Kids run off the floor and no one notices. I guess I should be grateful that no one got hurt, and not expect my child to actually learn.

Coach Laura and her staff are great. They really coach kids to do there best. They encourage children to be gymnasts. They focus on form at a young age, but make it fun. I highly recommend Gym America. They are extremely flexible and priced extremely reasonable. My daughters self confidence has grown and she has built strength and learned tons of new skills. Love love love Gym America!

Great gymnastics place. The instructor to student ratio is pretty good, allowing for quality teaching. Kids can progress based on their comfort level and there are a variety of classes from recreational to pre-team/competition. Highly recommended.
