The gym itself was a nice place. However, I have been fighting for months to get them to stop levying hidden fees and bogus charges to my account. I came back from my honeymoon to find they had begun once again charging me for a membership I canceled TWO MONTHS PRIOR. Stay away from this gym.
Things not mentioned on their website or in the contract include:
1. Freeze Requests are occasionally ignored by their (possibly foreign) accounting firm. Getting refunded for their incompetence will take weeks and many emails.
2. They will forget why they refunded you.
3. Frozen memberships incur a charge of $10 a month.
4. A Frozen membership cannot be canceled. They will not inform you of this. Attempts to cancel a frozen membership will be ignored. You must instead reactivate your membership, and after that, apply for cancellation. I repeat, they will not inform you of this, they will not even comprehend what "membership cancellation" means until you have unfrozen your membership.

I got a tour of the gym from one of the employees and they made a comment I felt was prejudiced and it made me feel uncomfortable. I also looked at some of the lower-rated reviews and the business’ replies often come across as unprofessional which reflects poorly on the business.

Trained there for a decade. Great gym with a solid amount of resistance equipment. The staff is very friendly and Zach is a great dude, very knowledgable. During Covid Joe the owner kept the place immaculate and seem to have people cleaning it every morning. As someone who has trained for 30+ years in a dozen different gyms across the country one of the cleanest and well kept facilities Ive seen. Very convenient and always open! Enjoyed my time there thoroughly.

To start off, this is a nice gym. Great for lifting, only really missing a smith machine and maybe a couple better back machines. It isn’t very busy and is kept clean.

The real reason for the 2 star review is one of their staff members is a complete creep if youre a girl. He has no personal space and will flirt with you. He also talks down on patrons of the gyms he doesn’t like. He’s the sole reason I’m moving gyms because I can’t take it anymore.

Absolutely terrible gym with zero desire to help or support its members. I’ve provided all the proof I could about my financial situation, and they showed no interest in working with me or offering any kind of compromise.

Their customer service is dismissive and uncaring. It’s clear they don’t value members at all—especially anyone going through a hard time. Instead of helping people stay healthy and part of the community, they’d rather squeeze every last dollar with no flexibility or understanding.

I do not recommend this place to anyone looking for a supportive or compassionate gym. Avoid if you want to be treated like a human being instead of just a payment.

24/7 365 gym for only 40 a month is hard to beat. Also, the pausing feature is very useful for college students. Extremely high quality and well maintained machines; staff is very kind and hardworking. Haven't used any training plans so I can’t speak to that, but my experience has been superb. The only drawback is there’s not a smith machine, but it’s not a dealbreaker and there are alternative options.

Perfect place to work out! All staff are polite, professional and friendly, offering any help and advice. Working out here has been a wonderful experience and feels like coming back home. It's open 24 hours, so you can come to the gym at any time, which is great! The access control system and the environment of the hall, the bright environment, give a sufficient sense of security! Overcharged me at 35$ for just a week while I was there for thanksgiving. The equipment was average and the facilities are within what seems to be an office space. I’ve been going to this gym for a few months now. Everything you need is available (barbell racks, machines, stairmaster, etc.) and they offer personal and group training at a reasonable price (compared to other more pretentious gyms). Most importantly for me, the fees are reasonable and there’s no BS. Plus, they’re open 24/7.

Clean, organized & constantly improving with new equipment has everything you need. I posted a bad review here. It was about inappropriate behavior of their employee and UNDERAGED PATRONs of the gym. I later came to find out from the owner the POLICE were in fact called. That same employee still works there. In addition, I wanted to add issues I have had personally with the same problematic employee. I had high hopes when the owner of the gym invited me to speak with him about the issues. I should have managed my expectations...

I was a regular, I worked out 6 days a week in there for over half of the year commitment. HEED THE WARNINGS!!! Apon arrival for the owner and my meeting I was surprised to what was to follow. I have prior law enforcement experience and the tactics used to address a concern of a patron were nothing short of sleezy and manipulative. He tried to question my integrity instead of addressing his frat boy issue of an employee. As a regular, many people have expressed to me in passing over the course of 6 months that they also have issues with this same employee. I also brought this up to the owner and tried to corral patrons over to attest. He told me he only wanted to talk to me and would not have it. He attempts to claim I was in fact the initiator of the problem. Absolute sleeze this guy. The gym was fast to wrongfully terminate my membership and deny all allegations. I wanted to separate from the gym, so it was not the end of the world. But wait, there's more....

Now that I am no longer a member, they won't return my emails on the termination confirmation. I can only assume but not yet confirm they are playing the same "game" as the other 1 start reviews have mentioned. OVER CHARGES ARE A THEME on these yelp reviews. Be sure to have your bank deny payment in cases like those other reviews and mine. They appear to send it to a debt collection agency but that is about it. By far the worst gym in the area. A real "ratty" gym. Not the Mom and Pop advertised. The gym itself, it gets worse...

Gym has terrible HVAC, cold in the winter and unbearably hot in the summer. $30 a month is not a deal when it comes to this place. Constant body odor smell. The bathrooms are that of a frat house. You get the sense this is a "scrape off the top" business model. AC units leak on your head. Squat mats smell like they were bought from a bar, as they smell like cigarette smoke. No smith machine. Only rickety cardio equipment. 80s - 90s gym equipment vibes. I have never seen the gym without a few things broken. New layout is terrible. You must truck your 45s from the benches to deadlift. Free weights area leave you shoulder to shoulder especially for larger/muscular builds.... you know like at a gym.

Gym is small and horrible and it was, without a doubt, the worst gym experience I've ever had. From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was a disaster waiting to happen.

First off, the equipment is ancient and poorly maintained. The machines are broken, the weights are scattered everywhere, and cleanliness is clearly not a priority. The entire place smells like a mix of sweat and mold, which makes working out even more unbearable.

But the real deal-breaker was the staff, specifically one incredibly weird and obnoxious employee. This guy never shuts up and has absolutely no sense of boundaries. Every time I tried to focus on my workout, he would come over and start talking about the most disgusting and inappropriate things. From graphic descriptions of his personal hygiene habits to crude comments about other gym members, it was beyond revolting.

On top of that, he was an absolute jerk. He'd make snide remarks if you were using a machine he wanted, or criticize your form in the most condescending way possible. He seemed to take pleasure in making everyone around him uncomfortable, and it completely ruined the atmosphere of the gym.

It's clear that management does not care about the quality of their staff or the satisfaction of their members. If they did, this guy would have been fired long ago. Overall, this gym is a nightmare. Save yourself the trouble and find a better place to work out. This dump isn't worth your time or money.

Was unsure of signing up due to quite a few bad reviews, but decided to do a guest pass since this is the closest gym and NOVA traffic sucks.

This is my experience going at around the same time of day each time: It's overall a good gym. Plenty of machines/racks and the locker room is clean. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better gym than this for the same cost.

App kind of sucks, but that's out of their control.

Would love it if there were competition-grade Kg plates, but I might be in the small minority that would use them.

As one of the original members of this gym, I highly recommend IMP Fitness. Joe and his staff are all friendly, they keep the beverage and supplement dispensers well stocked, and they are very responsive to emails. Great selection of cardio equipment. Multiple rows of machines and racks of dumbbells for all levels of fitness. Ample parking close to the entrance. And the best feature -- they are open 24/7. Give them a try - you won't be disappointed.

5 months ago I was overweight, tired and sad. I decided I needed to change and I invested in a personal training package with Zack. I wasn’t familiar with weight training and this has been the best decision I made in my life. I don’t have enough words to describe how professional and fun Zak is. I've been coming here 4 times a week for 7 weeks so far and the gym is amazing. It has all the equipment you could need for a full body workout. The cardio equipment is good too, but I mainly come for the free weights. I've seen other reviews complain about the staff but from my experience so far I have zero complaints with them. I talked with Zach mostly who is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. You can schedule classes with the staff for personal training as well. I also have met with the owner who was friendly and very understanding of my one complaint which was with the flys machine having worn out handles. Thankfully he already was aware and is replacing them.

The gym itself is really clean and the showers + lockers are a nice addition to have, I highly recommend this gym if you don't like the national chain style gyms.

Nice clean small gym. I only came to use their treadmills, but they have a lot of other equipment too. If you're looking for a fully feathered gym with every possible piece of equipment, look elsewhere, but if you just want an affordable place to workout that's open 24/7, this is a great gym to join. They have small locker/shower rooms, and they offer personal training and massage sessions.

I do wish they made it clear that although it's open for use 24/7, staff are only there during business hours which aren't listed anywhere that I can find. But the staff who are there are great. Zach, the staff member who I saw the most and who handled my sign up process, is very friendly and helpful. Like most gyms, you do have to give 30 days notice for cancelling and can't cancel online... but that's unfortunately just the norm with gyms. I have no idea what the 1 star reviews are about, honestly.

I think it’s fair to say that most gyms have pros and cons. This one is small and no frills, but has cardio equipment, free weights, and strength training machines. It’s clean and the equipment is generally well maintained.

For me the cons were that it is largely an unstaffed facility, and outside of staffed hours you’re a little bit on your own - as a woman working out alone, that was often a consideration. I also felt that the athletic training focus tied up some portions of the facility during some times of day, and often felt I did not have access to the equipment I wanted.

The clincher for the one star review, however, is the customer service. I posted a fair and reasonable review on Yelp, to which they replied stating that I “hadn’t been to the gym in two years”. Not only were they incorrect in their statement, I was appalled to have my personal gym usage information used publicly in that manner and now feel a deep sense of distrust for this gym’s leadership. If they are willing to talk about members that way publicly, how do they talk about you behind your back?

I have been with this gym for the last two years and unfortunately, since my wife and I are moving, will be canceling our membership.

I have worked out at many gyms over the course of my 12 year fitness career, and I can honestly say that this gym has created the best lifting atmosphere I have ever had the pleasure of being apart of. I will honestly miss this gym, and as my wife and I try out gyms around our new location, we always find that the soul is lacking.

The emoyees create a very welcoming environment, and are always friendly and ready to help. A very strict "clean up after yourself" policy ensures a very clean and tidy gym.

As for any review you see that is one star, I can honestly say that any of their comments should be disregarded. My own personal experience working with the owner has only yielded positive conversations. You don't clean up or you disrespect fellow lifters, you are out, plain and simple; and if you don't follow those rules, then you shouldn't have been in this gym to begin with, let alone any gym in general.

My wife and I look forward to the day where we may lift in one of Joe's gyms again.

IMP Fitness was just the right fit for me during the challenges that COVID-19 has become for those of us that have limited access to gyms and fitness equipment over the past year and a half. The 24-hour access and vast selection of equipment was perfect!

The members were practicing social distancing and sanitization practices as directed even when staff members weren’t present which shows the positive culture that IMP Fitness has developed.

Zach and the owner Joe are always friendly and welcoming! I am tremendously thankful for the opportunity to workout here and wish IMP Fitness continued success.

2nd Update:
Only after I filed a dispute with my credit card company did IMP fitness offer any sort of deal. Seems predatory to only offer this once I filed a claim. Why wasn’t this offered in person when I asked? Also, charging me $10 for guest passes when my guests had already paid $5 ...? I don’t think so. Now that gyms are opening back up, I strongly advise folks to steer clear of IMP.

Update: I reached out to Joe, the owner of this establishment, via email both on 7/21, 7/22, and 7/23 and have not received a response. I would like a confirmation of my membership cancellation and also inquired about the 3 day Virginia State law that requires health clubs to honor a three-day, no questions asked “regret” policy. As of yet, IMP fitness has failed to communicate effectively though when I first reached out for a membership, a response was provided within 12 hours.

REVIEW:

In searching for a gym during the pandemic, I came across IMP. Despite the bad reviews and negative experience a friend shared with me, I decided to check it out on my own and draw my own conclusions.

A few observations I made at first were that the lighting was dim, equipment was functional, but the ambience was missing a key element: community.

Having joined a mom & pop shop, I naively thought the customer experience would be to rave for. I was thoroughly disappointed (just three days later) that this was NOT the case. My friend came to this gym to work out, and upon entering, was signing then guest sheet with the help of Zach, the receptionist. Shortly thereafter, the owner of the gym, Joe, came up to her asking who her friend was. She paused and finished writing, then as she was about to answer him, he asked her again for my "full name". She immediately responded with my first and last name, but he wasn't "convinced she knew me as some folks sneak in here" (Zach's words). From there, Joe walked over to me and instead of politely asking if said friend was the one at the front desk, blurted: "your friend doesn't even know your name. Haha, she doesn't know your name!". I honestly thought he was joking at first, but no, that was his professional take on trying to call her out.

After having spoken to both Zach and Joe about this and voicing my concerns about the level of immaturity, rudeness, and flat out disregard for good customer service- both took the approach of making sure I understood it was "his gym and he can do whatever he wants". Albeit true, that a gym owner can do as he pleases, treating NEW clients in poor taste is a reflection of poor customer service.

Oh and I paid a prorated fee + a $50 deposit + $50 for the month of August ... wouldn't we all agree that having to pay a full month at a gym isn't ethical if you no longer are a patron? Not Joe. It took about 3 days for my account to be activated. It's a small staff. He's not sending this to corporate to be canceled and given the bad experience, you'd think he'd want to part ways on a positive note.

TLDR: small mom & pop not worth venturing into due to lack of good customer service and rude staff.

This is a great gym. Friendly, clean, and have excellent equipment for a fantastic workout. My experience when I did “ go” to the gym was excellent and I wish I could have continued to attend if not for COVID. Now the reason why I took a star off. My account was past due, and I completely understand and take responsibility for it. I want to apologize to the establishment for not providing 30 days' notice and letting them know I did not wish to continue with their service. A lot is going on with the world due to COVID, but at the end day, that is not a reason to be unprofessional, and I take full responsibility/blame. My only issue is that my contract end in August, and the gym automatically renew it. Now I know the original contract state that it will automatically be renewed when the term-end but let’s be honest, I haven’t gone for months.... why would I want to continue the contract. I guess I felt the gym could not have charged me for that, but legally I know I’m in the wrong. However, I just think the gym could have been more understanding and disregard the automatic contract extension charge, especially during this challenging time. I do understand this is business, so they are not wrong, but this is my review of my experience.
Additionally, the “ maintenance charge” seems convenient to be charged at the month I’m leaving “ September” when last year it was charge in October. Anyhow, this is one of the best local gyms around, and maybe in a different circumstance ( without COVID), your experience will be much better than mine. Again, I wish they could have been more lenient/understanding of the fees, but hey, it’s a small business, and I don’t necessarily feel bad for paying it. I want to thank the gym for providing me excellent service and wish for the best.

As a former XSport and 24 Hour Fitness attendee I can tell you that IMP is a breath of fresh air. I’m never waiting around to use equipment, patrons actually put their weights up, and it has everything I need. No one is needlessly taking up equipment by playing on their phones for 20 minutes at a time. And the facility is actually clean. Ownership and employees have been nothing but awesome to me. I’d recommend this gym over any other in the area. Note: I usually workout in the 4PM-7PM time frame.

After being a loyal member for over 8 years, I canceled my membership via the required in person cancellation form. When I noticed that they were continuing to bill me, I was told that they had no record of the cancellation. They continue to bill me despite canceling in accordance with the contract requirements. I'm not sure why the owner was so aggressive but he had zero patience to hear me out and implied that i was lying. Extremely frustrating experience. Apparently they are either unable or unwilling to look for cancellation records. To be fair, the facility is nice if you're looking for a small affordable 24hr gym, it's the customer service that is absolutely awful.

While a member of this gym, my experience was absolutely great. I personally told the owner that I was moving away, which I thought would have my membership cancelled. Unfortunately this did not happen and I ended up paying on a card for a year until it expired, which was absolutely my fault. Then after this I started receiving calls from them, and I asked if it would be alright if they waived the last month of payment as I had not visited the gym for an entire year, and didn't think it was necessary for me to give my credit card info over the phone for one more $35 payment... apparently they care more about hounding me down for $35 than customer service.

My family and I tried to sign up with them. I called like 10 times in a 15 min period, no one answered the phone. It’s supposed to be a 24hr gym, I call at 7pm on a Sunday and no one answered. I was ready to sign up with 3 more people. Maybe next time.

Really disappointed in this gym. Very poor communication with members, unauthorized fees and charges, no notice for cancelled classes, owner was regularly late or no show for training sessions, and the owner is never available to clear up things.

Open 24 hours, great selection of equipment like treadmills, stair climbers, ellipticals, recumbent and upright bikes, rower, Roman chair, stretch systems, yoga balls, foam rollers, every kind of pulley machine including cable crossover, free weights, squat racks with space for dead lifts, and anything else you could need for training or rehab. Highly recommend at least a few sessions with a trainer. Kaiden helped me established some goals and identified the best routines, diet and personal habits to help me achieve them. Definitely recommending Kaiden, but before I moved I was going to set my fiancée up with Gene who has always been very knowledgeable and helpful. Talk to the staff. They'll help you use the equipment correctly and make you feel welcome. I spent over 3 years at the gym and only had to wait for a piece of equipment once or twice. Members are of all ages and the gym is bright and clean.

This place is called Everybody Fitness. It's generally a good place to work out. Could use a bit more cleaning of the locker rooms (including inside the lockers), fix the treadmills' entertainment, repair the hinge on the men's locker room, and fix the air conditioning so that it doesn't look like its in disrepair (though it seems to work). Also fix the pressure in the water fountain. Lastly, it desperately needs a new floor mat in the men's locker room.
The nice thing about the gym is that it's never really very full so you can generally get the machine you're looking for. Reasonably priced.
