I’m a 63-year-old male who, as part of a couple, has been training with Joanie since May 2025. Not having done any strength training since high school, I was unsure what to expect from doing PT two times a week. Joanie was quick to put me at ease and develop a unique training program that balances weight loss and muscle growth with a safe program, using an effective combination of bands, weights and stretching. I particularly like her use of fun finisher activities, such as ropes, blaze pods, and slam ball. Joanie’s steady encouragement, great music and infectious laugh motivate me and has built my confidence to the point where I feel noticeably more mentally and physically fit. I couldn’t be happier having Joanie as my personal trainer, and I look forward to what she has in store as she develops new monthly progressions.

I had the opportunity to participate in a women's wellness retreat that Joanie recently co-led with another female small business owner. Joanie's knowledge of her exercise, personal training, and nutrition craft is clear. She led us in workshops related to women's health and nutrition, and also highlighted key aspects necessary for the best results in strength training for women. Another key detail is that she really focuses on proper form, whether in warm-up exercises or static stretching--critical when it comes to ensuring smart training without injury. I already knew Joanie from her role as a spin instructor where she is top-notch: spunky, fun, and encouraging! Joanie is a PHENOMENAL personal trainer! She truly cares about her craft and really knows her stuff. She will really make sure to listen to your needs and goals and accommodate accordingly. Joanie is so easy to get along with and makes working out super fun. I only see her once a week, and while it's sometimes hard to get up and out of the house for our early morning sessions, once I'm there, I don't even feel like I'm working out because I'm enjoying my time connecting and socializing with her (but still managing to get in a good workout! That's the best part). Joanie is super positive and sociable, and she genuinely cares about her clients from both a professional and a person standpoint. I couldn't recommend her enough, no matter what your fitness goals are.

Before my 5yo son was born, I was an extremely active person, running and doing lots of HIIT and CrossFit.
Not only did my routine change after birth, but some challenges with my body made me stop exercising altogether.

After so many searches, I opted to find a personal trainer that would not only help me to get back moving my body but to watch me and correct my posture or adapt the training during the whole session.

I found Joanie online, looked at her website, and found all the reviews very genuine, and I decided to reach out to her.

I’ve been working with her for six months now, and I can’t say enough things about her and her care for me. The confidence I’m getting from our sessions is shaping me to be active like the way I was before. She is helping me to know my limits better and also challenging me to go further.

Besides that, she is fun; the space is clean and well-organized.
Today I can happily exercise 3/4 days a week, and she encourages me to practice more stretching exercises to help with my mobility.
Don’t forget that she is also a Nutrition Coach! She is my right-hand girl when I need help with my macros.

I came across JFay Fitness via Google, read the reviews, and decided to meet with Joanie to see if we were a fit. Thank goodness I did because it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself. Her practical approach to fitness was exactly what I needed. The one on one sessions allowed me to learn lifting skills and form, in a safe healthy way, to achieve the changes I was looking for. I had tried a myriad of diets and been a “gym rat” in the past, but those things just weren’t working the way they used to. Joanie made me understand how food is truly fuel and I’m now slowly but surely fixing my (what I call broken) metabolism. Her NASM Nutrition Cert means she’s competent in all things fitness, and she was able to explain my fuel needs in a way I was able to understand and overcome my fear of overeating. I haven’t felt this good about myself and this sure about my body image in a long time. I’m stronger, I have more energy and I’m now equipped with the tools to better myself through incremental, longterm lifestyle adjustments. I now look forward to going to her gym and she makes workouts fun and challenging. My mid-life body betterment journey is just beginning and I love where it’s headed.

I worked with Joanie at JFayFitness for six months last year. Over the years, I have had a fair amount of experience working out on my own, at larger gyms and with trainers. I can say with confidence that my experience with Joanie translated to the best results. Her gym is well-equipped, and Joanie does a terrific job of mixing up exercises while moving toward a clear, consistent set of fitness goals. Joanie is extremely well-prepared and is very willing to offer explicit professional views while also providing flexibility. That balance was really important in 2021 as we had to adjust to COVID-related constraints. Her preparation and flexibility was good for me too because I was adjusting to my own views as to what it would take and look like to be more fit (in my more mature years). In addition to our scheduled sessions, Joanie didn’t hesitate to check in between sessions and offer supplemental information to improve my overall approach to wellness. JFayFitness is one of the good things that I’ve started since my diagnosis of Parkinson’s. Prior to joining JFayFitness, I’ve had a number of swim coaches and physically therapists. As a coach, trainer, and fitness advisor, Ms Joanie Fay is outstanding. She has a great personality, and it is easy for me to communicate with Ms. Fay.

When I first joined JFayFitness I didn’t really know what I needed, but Ms. Fay, with my permission, talked with my Physical Therapist. Ms. Fay was then able to recommend an exercise program that addressed my need to improve my balance, my leg strength and my core strength. I have now been training with Ms. Fay since April 2021. My twice weekly sessions at JFayFitness are now a highlight of my week and my balance, leg strength and core strength have all improved but because of my Parkinson’s and the rapid progression of my freezing episodes I have been surprised by these results.

I am lucky to have found Ms. Fay since she has easily accommodated my physical limitations by quickly adapting to what I can do on any given day. Having found Ms. Fay and joining JFayFitness, I hate to think about what my physical condition would be if i had decided against using Ms. Fay as my personal trainer. In my opinion Ms. Fay deserves a 6 star rating but I can only enter 5 stars for her ability to work with me to maximize my physical strengths and for the way that she pays great attention to the details of her business (e.g. her outstanding organizing skills with the business side of her venture as well as the cleaning and maintenance of her work out facility—a fact that has been very importantly given the rise and progression of the COVID-19 epidemic.).

IMHO, Ms. Fay is the best at what she does!

Great trainer, offers in-person sessions at a nice private gym, and virtual training via FT/Zoom. If you don't plan on going back to big-box gyms, definitely consider this alternative. Gym has it all (DL platform, rack, multiple barbells etc.) and private sessions so no waiting / sharing.

I can’t say enough about Joanie’s approach to personal training and the environment she has created in her facility.
I started with her because of my of my concerns training in a big corporate gym during Covid but this is the only way I will train moving forward because this experience has been so superior. 1. The facility is so clean! 2. The fitness plan she designed (with consideration for old injuries and current goals) is projected on a flat screen, while my favorite music plays in the background. 3. The EQUIPMENT- all new, current with industry standards, vast, and continually changing. 4. InBody body composition analysis - real progress monitoring.
My experience with her feels like private personal training - like I am a celebrity. She has created a truly “personalized” experience for training!
