Very poor performance when it comes to all prorgrams. On several occassions, within the last year, I have signed myself and my children up for various sport activities & programs, and paid money! Only to be informed AFTER THE FACT: "Due to low enrollment/low registration, we will not be offering this program." 3 Times this has happened: with myself for Women on Weights program, my children with swim lessons in August of this year and now soccer, September 2025. I am LIVID because as a single mother, I take my dollars seriously. And all YMCA can do is offer me a partial credit, which is only good for other programs that may or ay not be available!

So far I have enjoyed how clean and functional the Manchester YMCA has been for me. They have classes to register for online and the equipment works and I love the spin bikes!! The best time to have the gym to myself is early morning at 0800-1000

i like YMCA Manchester branch. it is small, but never too crowded. there are machines enough for everyone! the place is also clean all the time. i just wish they had a bigger swimming pool.

Love the class instructors. But this Y definitely needs to email out announcements of closings or when the Y is not open as usual. Today we showed up at 10am to a sign that they won't open until noon. Regular open time is 8:30. They put up a sign and assume you will see it. But what if you didn't visit during the days the sign was up or missed it? Dear Y Manchester management, You have member emails so please send announcements. Also the app says you open at 8:30am today. Photo attached.

Leah, the swim instructor is so amazing! My son was so apprehensive and nervous in water, within the first ten minutes of his first lesson, he was more confident, and having a great time. We are currently in his third class, he loves Leah! Cannot recommend any of the swim instructors enough, they are all so sweet and so patient. Thank you 🖤

I have enjoyed the YMCA after I was invited by my coworker. It’s great that they offer classes like knitting and other crafts during the week. It’s great for me to meet new people in as safe place. I am not from Virginia but this place feels friendly and comfortable.

I was showering and it was a roach on ceiling over me. ! It's like 3 staff that are so amazing. Mrs. Renee which we haven't seen in a month we're devastated the dark skin lady that is usually at the desk not sure her name, and the male life guard the tall guy not sure of his name but he's amazing. He was the guard late night on 9/3/24.

Hola Me gusta el ginacio pero mi hija tuvo una muy mala esperiencia Ya que tomo agua de la fuente de hay y sintio que trago algo y se sintio muy mal le dolia muy fuerte la barriga yla cabeza y sentia algo que le atragantaba la garganta y que le caminaba dentro sintio que se moriria 5 minuto despues empeso a bomitar y cuando bomito boto algo largo con mucha patitas como un parasito fue horrible. Me comuniqué con ellos no me han vuelto a dar seguimiengo y mi hija sigue con los simptomas porque ella sigue asi desde 3/26.

Manchester 90% of the time, never answers the phone, no matter the time of day, afternoon or evening. When they do answer, they do not help you with anything but refer you to use the app. I was locked out of my account and had to call YMCA Franklin St to help with my account. I have to call Franklin St to help with any issues I have because Manchester simply will not help.

I have been going to this gym for 8 years, and the Manchester Y is my favorite Y in the area. The staff, volunteers, instructors, and management team is great. The price is very reasonable, especially for the quality of equipment and facility. I've loved all the classes I've taken, camps we've sent the kids to, child watch, and after care.
The new remodel is amazing, and it was worth all the construction mess to have this state of the art remodel. I love the unisex and private shower/toilet rooms. So much better than the locker rooms with the thin shower curtains you had to hide behind.
While the pool is on the smaller end, they maintain it well and it's perfect for lap swimming or water classes or lessons. This is where my little one learned to swim, so it holds a special place in our family.

For months, I’ve been working out weekly, while my son sits quietly in sight at a table (not in child watch). Just today, a staff member told me my son couldn’t sit there without me sitting with him. Her tone was dismissive and condescending rather than helpful and solution-oriented. This is after I asked for permission to let my son sit in sight my first week of visiting the gym.
On a earlier occasion, I asked a staff member if my son could use the punching bag with his own gloves, and he said yes. Later, while my son was using the punching bag, a different staff member informed me he couldn’t use the punching bag. Both situations made my son and me feel unwelcomed. As a result, I cancelled my membership. I really like most of the staff (especially Ms. Lavonne who tried to help convince my son to go to child watch my first two visits) and the members, but unfortunately, the two staff members soured the experience for me. The solution is easy, be transparent and consistent with any “rules.”

The staff members are super friendly and very helpful. I am extremely impressed with how clean the facility is. I especially want to give a big shout out to Langley. Every morning when I go to work out, Langley can be found meticulously cleaning the men’s locker room. He is one of the hardest workers I have ever seen at any YMCA. And over the years I have been to many. He is very dedicated to his job and goes above and beyond to do his best at giving the members at Manchester the cleanest facilities possible! It is obvious that he takes great pride in his work! His commitment to keeping the gym clean is one of the main reasons I continue to go to the Manchester YMCA and because of him I wholeheartedly recommend it to my friends and coworkers. Greg McKenzie
