I have been going to Nova Strong for about two
months. I had never exercised with weights and wanted to learn how to use them properly without injuring myself. My personal trainer, Taylor Boyd, is excellent. She is a very good communicator, teacher, and knows by looking at me what my limits are. She stays with me during my entire session. Each week I progress to something slightly harder. The entire experience has been great and I look forward to going once a week for one hour.

As a “woman of a certain age“ I did not feel comfortable in gyms. NovaStrong changed that. Iman is both very personable and knowledgeable. My training is calibrated to my personal goals and my individual progress. I love going to this gym! Everyone there is genuinely supportive. It’s a great community and a safe, nurturing environment. I am continually amazed at what I can train my body to do. Deadlifts, squats, bench press, and many other words I didn’t know the meaning of are now part of my routine. I feel much more capable and confident putting luggage in the overhead rack, reaching for something at the top of the closet, moving furniture, and carrying young children. Very empowering!! I started my training journey with NOVA Strong in 2022. From the very first day I walked in for my assessment I felt welcomed by Jarrett and everyone there. For the next two years Iman would teach me how to get strong and how to train properly. He is a bottomless well of knowledge and always encouraging. Since January of this year I have been working with Andrew. His energy and enthusiasm are amazing and I’ve learned a ton from him as well. He tailored my training to help me prepare for the firefighters physical abilities test and I passed it without difficulty as a result. Jarrett has built something really special in the fitness space. You can tell every last one of his coaches truly cares about every aspect of life wellness, not just strength and physical training. They are so much more than strength coaches. They really do care about you.

My husband and I have had a very good experience since signing up for fitness training at Nova Strong. We have been working with Andrew for the past two months having previously worked with another fitness trainer and have found Andrew and Nova Strong to provide a very positive environment for trying to improve our health. We are both in our 70's and are interested in improving our overall health from both a strength perspective as well as improving our overall conditioning to include improved; balance, co-ordination and flexibility. I worked with Taylor on a number of issues, primarily strengthening a weak knee, improving core strength, and developing better balance. With regard to my knee, results were very positive. Taylor worked with me on a number of exercises to help build up the muscle surrounding my knee. In the process, I gained not only more strength in both knees but I also gained more confidence in my own ability to work on those issues. I’ve seen improvement in my core strength as well, with Taylor gently but firmly reminding me of the correct way to do the exercises in order to gain the maximum effect. I feel that my balance has improved for sure, but it is not something I can take for granted as I continue to age. Continual work needs to be done to maintain and improve in each of these areas. Working with a trainer such as Taylor has been an important reminder to me that I don’t have to do it all by myself, that I can improve in each of these areas, and that my physical health and condition are well worth the investment. I found NOVA Strong through google search about two months ago. It's the best decision that I made in 2025 to join their personal training program. Andrew is super helpful in designing a routine that works for beginners like me. He observes and listens and tweaks the sessions however it's necessary to make sure I get the right amount of exercise necessary to achieve my goal. Before I started I was a little unsure about whether it will work for me (haven't exercised in a long long time and not a disciplined person when it comes to exercise and diet), now I've determined to stick with it for a longer term and can't wait to see the effects on my overall health and well-being.

I have had a great experience here, Taylor has worked with myself, my husband, and my son and each of us have greatly benefited from our time with her. I am especially thankful for the time with my son as he has special needs and can be difficult to keep on task; she has such a patient and gentle manner with him and he has made real progress over the last 6 months he's been working with her. Nova strong brings a great balance of discipline, commitment, social responsibility, and community involvement to an encouraging and fun training environment. Taylor is enthusiastic and very encouraging, and has helped me meet and exceed my strength training goals. At 51, I came to Taylor at Nova Strong looking for preemptive strength training to combat age-related strength and mobility decline. I was concerned about my chronic back problems and other joint pain. Taylor listened and created a workout program that worked for my schedule and individual level of fitness. She has really encouraged me to stick with it and work harder than I would be able to push myself, and she changes up the program regularly to keep it interesting. She’s very patient and really good at finding ways to help me visualize where and how I should be feeling each exercise to maximize its efficacy. Most importantly, she always greets me with a smile and keeps me coming back, even on those days when I’m really not feeling’ it. She brings the energy I can’t always summon on my own. Nova Strong’s app helps me track my progress, and I’ve been really impressed with how far I’ve come! I’m clearly getting stronger since I started training with Taylor, I’m getting more trim, even eating and feeling better day to day. With Taylor’s help and guidance, I’ve even been able to train through a couple quasi-injuries that would have stopped my workouts in previous years. I’m stronger, more confident, working out more safely, and have even seen a big boost in my road cycling, both speed and endurance. Keeping up with the big dogs in my peloton now. My back is stronger and I’ve had no problems with it since starting with Taylor. The benefits of strength training continue to show themselves in many aspects of my life. I'm so happy to have worked with Jarrett and Juanita. After purchasing TRX straps for my home fitness area, I soon realized that without some in-person guidance and support, I wasn't going to get very far. I reached out to Jarrett and he was immediately on-board, asking me questions to ensure he fully understood my goals. He connected me with Juanita. Juanita took the time to ask me questions about my exercise history, current health condition, and most importantly for me, what I wanted to get out of our time together. Juanita carefully explained and demonstrated what she was teaching me. She was sensitive to my needs as a 51 year old female who has birthed two children (ladies, you know what I'm talking about!) and was patient when my brain and body were not coordinating.

My experience with NOVA Strong in general and Coach Iman Salami, in particular, has been tremendous. My initial goal when I started with Iman 9 months ago was to get stronger, not bigger. Iman has delivered on only one of those goals; I am much stronger than when I started, but I've gone from a 42 Regular to a 46 Regular. While I didnt really like shelling out cash for new suits, I certainly like the way I look and feel, and the complements I've received from my kids, friends, and colleagues have been pretty awesome. Your results may vary, but I've been pleased. Furthermore, Iman has been very patient, as we rehabilitate this aging body of mine. (I'm no spring chicken, and just the use of that term probably gives you an idea of how old I am.) He is very attuned to the client and what their body is telling them. He makes the workouts challenging, but not to the point of discouragement; and when my body screams, "Ow!", Iman is very adept at altering the program, even in the middle of a session, to still deliver a solid workout. Iman does not overwhelm you with coaching advice. Instead, he works with you on smaller short-term attainable goals, never losing focus of the overall goal. I highly recommend Coach Iman Salami and NOVA Strong Personal Training & Fitness.

I started working with Juanita last December. I had knee surgery that hasn’t been the result I was hoping. She concentrates on working everything that strengthens that knee PLUS has me doing push ups and planks that I’ve never done before. I feel I get a total body workout with focus on long term strength, balance and emphasis on proper form so as to prevent injury. So that’s the workout…Juanita, she’s a rock star. She’s five stars. I’ve even got my husband going to her weekly and he loves it/her. This is not a Planet Fitness. This is total focus on YOU! I highly recommend this as part of or your exercise commitment!

I have been an avid cyclist for over a decade. I had never done much stretching or any strength training. When sciatica pain began impacting my everyday life, I decided to look into a personal strength training program. I contacted Jarrett because I saw the benefits that several friends who are cyclists had achieved while working with him.
Never did I think I’d start working out in a gym at the age of 67 using free weights with a personal trainer! Everything was a new experience for me. After our initial consultation meeting, I was excited to begin training twice a week with Jarrett. Each session I was reassured by Jarrett’s excellent individualized guidance, careful observation, and detailed feedback on proper form. The exercises he planned for strengthening my quads, hamstring and core relieved all signs of my previous sciatica pain in just four weeks.
I feel that the personalized strength training weekly sessions have been the best addition in my life to help me work towards a stronger healthier body and to improve my performance on my bike. I wish I had started years ago. I look forward to the partner training session days each week that my husband and I enjoy doing together.

I highly recommend Jarrett and NOVA Strong. I am a competitive triathlete and oft-injured marathon runner. I came to Jarrett about a year ago with a recurring high hamstring problem. Jarrett put together a strength/rehab program which allowed me to seemingly put this injury behind me (an injury I have been dealing with for years). Jarrett at JB Strength and Nutrition strikes a balance between comprehensiveness and flexibility. I am a new father and work for a large tech firm—my time is limited. JB offers in-person, online, and hybrid training to tailor to different schedules and budgets, and Jarrett works hard to make sure clients receive the same attention and results regardless of the training plan. I am a hybrid client. Jarrett keeps up with me and even managed to form a very personal relationship, despite infrequent face to face interaction. He is actually more attentive than any in-person trainer I’ve ever had. In fact, not only is he more attentive, JB is less expensive, more flexible, and his training is still more effective than anyone I’ve worked with previously.
All Jarrett’s training and nutrition programing is science-based. One early experience exemplifies his approach: I had asked him about a new piece of equipment he’d not worked with. Concerned about the angle the machine applied force, he requested time to do research. I was already off guard—research?! Angle of force?! He got back in less than 24 hours with an explanation backed up by kinesiological journal articles, put in easily digestible terms. Additionally, he had devised a program using the equipment that corrected for the angle of force to avoid injury and target the correct muscles. That characterizes my experience with Jarrett—no matter how much experience someone has with fitness training, he can meet me where they are and teach them something to take their game to the next level.

I’ve been working with Jarret for about 3 months and can say this has been my best experience with a personal trainer. I was nervous about the program at the start because it was remote (I’m in NY and Jarret is in VA) and through an app. But Jarret has been extremely responsive making sure that the videos I uploaded have the correct form, answering any questions I had, checking my meal photos to ensure portions look accurate to what I am tracking, etc.
Jarret created a workout program designed for me and what I wanted to get out of it. The program started out with introductory exercises to get myself comfortable with working out and then gets more advanced. The nutrition plan was a whole new approach to food and is not a diet. It teaches you how to be conscious about what you’re eating and portions, but is not restrictive at all. Jarret’s goal was to build lifelong habits through developing exercising habits and educating people on better nutrition. I felt he really cared how I was feeling and would frequently check in with me asking how things are going, if I needed to talk about anything, etc. It has been a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend Jarret to anybody!

I decided to work with JB because I needed the extra help with nutrition. Even though I understand the basics, I wanted the help of JB with the amount of macros I should eat to receive the results I want. Due to my training, I wasn’t sure if I was eating the right foods and right amount. I want to lose weight and grow lean muscle and JB was able to help me understand the macros I need and how to measure my food to ensure I am eating the right amount. JB uses a simple technique that works well for busy lives and is not overwhelming nor time consuming.
I have been feeling more energized, not as hungry, and feeling stronger. I have noticed I can go to my powerlifting sessions without hitting a crash or feeling exhausted. When I leave my sessions, I’m not starving nor am I exhausted. I feel great. Throughout the day, I’m not constantly eating because I am hungry, I am able to eat the right amount and I feel satisfied throughout the day. I am also sleeping better, my skin is clear, and I can see a change in physique!

As a professional triathlete working to balance training, my job (the one that actually pays), and family, I needed an expert to be able to guide me through the challenges of incorporating a strength program with my swim, bike, and run training. I also wanted someone to assist in providing me with analysis on my form for key exercises. Lastly and perhaps most important, I needed guideance to make sure that I was doing enough strength work to help compliment my other training, but not too much so that it negatively affected it. I don't think there is anyone better in the industry at what he does than JB. I have worked with many coaches and personal trainers over my 15+ year athletic career, and JB is head and shoulders above the rest. I originally reached out to JB for online coaching when COVID forced everyone to have to figure out how to workout at home. I thought that it would be a short lived deal to just keep me in playing shape through the lockdowns, but after seeing my progress through his at home workout programming I decided to continue with his online coaching. Fast forward 1 year since I started working with JB, and my athletic performance has never been better. I have seen more improvement in with 1 year with JB than the previous 15 years I had on my own/with other coaches. The best part of working with JB is that he has a completely customized approach for every clients needs. There are no cookie cutter programs because he takes the time to understand what your goals are, and design a specific program for you and adapt what you are doing along the way. With my goals being focused around increased athletic performance for my sport, he didn't just put me in a typical 'sports program' that would probably work for most clients. Instead, he was able to determine my specific strengths and weaknesses in order to set up a routine to get the best out of me.
JB's knowledge of the body goes well beyond your typical personal trainer or strength coach, and he allows you to work smarter towards your goals while allowing you the flexibility of doing things you like to do in order to get there so that it never feels like 'work.'

My family has had a relationship with Jarrett for the past seven or eight years as a personal strength trainer, therapist, and really guru for all things related to our health. He has always shown an uncanny ability to fix whatever aliment a family was afflicted with. When we realized that Jarret offered health coaching, including weight loss my wife and I had no hesitation signing up with JB's coaching program. Jarrett has (for the first time) made me really think about eating, why I eat what I do, how fast I eat, when I eat, the nutrition of each meal. I've tried several programs (including ones with a personal coach), this program was by far the easiest to follow and most importantly the easiest to continue to follow in the months and years ahead. The daily check-ins were just enough to keep me on track and feel responsible to myself to keep to it. His system of portions is simply brilliant, no technology involved, just a hand. Other programs required apps and reading every label, which made going out to eat non-sustainable. Jarrett's program allowed each client to take as much out of it as they wanted. My wife really took a lot out of Jarrett's inspirational and motivational videos and those really helped her through the program. I'm just not that deep, so although I didn't usually watch the videos I liked the challenge of hitting my daily eating goals and enjoying the feeling of 'winning' when I filled in all the circles on my daily sheet. Simply put the program is easy to follow. It's a low pressure, common sense, SUSTAINABLE way of thinking of food and health that has given me the structure to (as a 50-year old) drop 13 lbs in three months, shed inches all over my body, and greatly improve my sleep.

For the past few years, an old injury kept flaring up and getting progressively worse. I have been training with Jarrett for about five years. I started in my late 50s after I was diagnosed with osteopenia. I hoped weight training would strengthen my bones and improve my balance. It has done that and so much more!
From the very beginning, Jarrett put me at a pace that was just a step above my comfort zone. He always believes I can do more and he's usually right. He has gently pushed me to increase not just my weight capacity and reps, but my confidence to know I can do it. And he is "eyes on" with his training, making sure I am safe with my posture and positioning so as to not hurt myself. Sometimes his small adjustments or corrections make all the difference.
He also adapts to what's happening. I went to training with a new case of tendinitis and he changed some of my workout to target that area with stretching and weights.
Five years ago, my goal was not to lose weight or have muscle definition, but it has happened as a result of my workouts with Jarrett.
Jarrett is a wonderful workout coach. He is incredibly knowledgeable, not just about weight training but about nutrition and using alternative methods for obtaining maximum health benefits.
I HIGHLY recommend Jarrett to anyone looking for an awesome trainer and a really great person.

During quarantine I lost control of my eating habits, became lazy, and had low self esteem. I decided to take back control by signing up with JB. The most useful aspect was learning to eat healthy and diet as a lifestyle, not a 30 day thing. I enjoyed what I ate, and even still had room for cookies or eating at my favorite restaurant. Jarret taught me how to plan ahead and how to incorporate anything. I’m happy with my weight loss and everything I’ve learned. I wanted to learn to control my eating habits in order to lose weight. Jarrett helped me to learn these healthy habits by teaching me the correct portion sizes for my body, to pickup on the signs of being full, and to eat slower to really enjoy food. I am not a big meat-eater and I also never realized how little protein I was getting prior to working with Jarrett. I was eating foods that I thought were providing me with enough protein but were actually higher in carbohydrates - he helped me find protein-rich foods I like and in turn I learned more about my nutrition and what foods I should be eating more and less of. Once I increased my protein, I lost weight and now feel more confident with my knowledge of what to feed my body and how to get enough protein daily going forward! In turn I also discovered new foods that I may have intolerances to after talking to Jarrett about certain things causing stomach problems, and with his advice addressing these issues is the next step I plan to take in my health.

Jarrett is really smart and so clearly takes a holistic approach to pain manifesting in specific points of your body. I went to him for neuromas in my feet, but he discussed the impact to your whole body of cutting abdominal muscles for C-section,, as well as how stress affects your body's chemistry. I now have a variety of homework exercises and feel hopeful that I'll be in better shape in general just for going to Jarrett for a specific foot issue.

Can't say enough good things about Jarrett. I've been working with him for over a year now, for both Strength and Conditioning Training and Sports Massage. I'm 52 years old, significant arthritis in my lower back and shoulders, and was obese/sedentary for decades.
