I specialize in pain-free performance and I use practical, functional, training techniques to help my clients build strength, gain confidence, and achieve the freedom to live life on their terms.

I’ve been training with Damon at Oddball Strong Personal Training since December 2023, and the experience has been nothing short of amazing. Before working with Damon, I had several injuries—rotator cuff issues, knee pain, and torn plantar plates in both feet. I chose Damon specifically because of his expertise in training around injuries, and his focus on safe, sustainable progress.

Over the past months, I’ve gained substantial strength, lost a significant amount of body fat, and added a considerable amount of muscle (evidenced through DEXA scans), all while avoiding further injury. Damon’s knowledge and attentiveness are unmatched—I’ve worked with several trainers in the past, and none have been as thorough or skilled at helping me achieve my goals. Damon is a strength coach and a true personal trainer. His ability to understand his clients needs is unmatched. When I began working with Damon I was recovering from a bike crash. He helped me regain shoulder mobility and started working to find my core. That was 3 years ago. He has since helped me reach many fitness goals, rehab injuries along the way, and allowed me a safe space to vent and whine while keeping me on task. He is able to adapt his planning to each client with his vast knowledge of the human condition. I’m getting ready to take on my first my first Ironman 70.3 triathlon and I do not believe I would be here without Damon’s strength training as part of my training program.

I began working with Damon about a year ago after having back surgery and other health issues that were somewhat caused by a previous trainer. I came to him incredibly nervous and scared to work out at all anymore, but wanting to work on my own health and fitness levels. He was so patient with me making sure that nothing was ever outside of my comfort zone while still providing the guidance and encouragement I needed to reach my own goals. When I first walked into Oddball Strong Personal Training, I was feeling pretty low. I had just been laid off from my job and was struggling with my health. At 5'9" and weighing around 215 lbs, I knew I needed a change but didn’t know where to start. I had always felt some resistance working with the fitness community, but Damon at Oddball Strong was entirely different.

I decided to start working with Damon in early April. From our very first session, it was clear that Damon was an expert personal trainer—down to earth, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in my well-being. Damon is the absolute best!!! I was pretty wary of starting a strength training program because of some past injuries and chronic health issues, but he is so very knowledgeable, kind and understanding, and respectful of my concerns and limitations. He's never once pushed me past the point where I know an exercise could be dangerous for me, but he does help me push myself to do more than I ever thought I could. He's helped me become a much stronger and more confident version of myself. And he's a super nice guy!!! If you've been interested in personal training but are not so much into the gym bro type attitude, or you want to be sure your trainer can give you all the nerdy science-y details behind your exercise routine, or you're coming back from an injury and are nervous about a trainer pushing you too hard, or you're starting from zero (like me) and want a judgement free zone.....Damon's your guy!!!!!!!

Working with Damon has been life changing! I met him upon recommendation of my PT to combat years of chronic hip pain and was honestly a little embarrassed and doubtful that strength training would solve my ills. Damon met me where I was both mentally and physically and then nudged me a little further. He's knowledgable in both traditional and unconventional modalities, knows when to push his clients to achieve more and trusts us when we need to slow down and will easily modify a workout. He maintains an upbeat, open atmosphere and genuinely enjoys his clients successes. He also doesn't bat an eye when I complain (which I do, often :-p). Five stars doesn’t do justice to Damon and Oddball Strong. I arrived there a wreck, after several years walking around with hip pain. Had lost lots of strength, not just in bad leg/hip, but overall, and my body was completely out of whack.
18 months later, I’m so much stronger, understand my body and how it works so much better, feel so much better, can do what I want to do.
Professionally, Damon is not only deeply knowledgeable about kinetic/exercise science etc., he is careful and attentive to client’s specific goals. Works with you from where you are, will set up sessions so that you can work (quite) hard as needed but will never push beyond safe limits. Takes a holistic approach (i.e., working the whole body) so that you gain balanced, overall function and use.
He’s patient and understanding, but also very fun. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Damon is amazing! When I first started with him and told him about my health condition I was nervous he wouldn’t want to or know how to help me. But he took the time to look up my condition (POTS) and did his research. He started me off with very easy things and made me work my way up to harder stuff. He’s very aware of making sure my heart rate doesn’t get to high and makes me sit or lay down until it gets back into a normal range. He always take the time to explain and show me how to do new exercises so I won’t hurt or injure myself. He’s always happy and willing to answer my questions. You can tell he’s very passionate about being a personal trainer. He’s also very knowledgeable and willing to share it thoughts and ideas with anyone and everyone. When covid started and everything was closing I had not idea what was going to happen with my training. But he ensured me that we would continue and he has kept his word and has continued to help me by virtual training. I’m so happy he is my trainer and I know I’m not back to 100% but with Damon’s help I know I can get there. He’s the best!

Damon is exceptional! I have only ever done group fitness before and never weightlifting. My core needed strengthening after two babies and a pandemic and Damon approached everything with a calm, reassuring confidence and built each exercise to the ability of each participant, without making it into a competition but also pushing you to do more than you thought you could. As a man in my early 30s looking to compete in bodybuilding, I knew I needed to hire a coach who knew how to push me but also kept me safe and healthy.

Damon did a phenomenal with both of those things and helped me get into contest shape at 5% bodyfat. His workouts and programming kept me feeling good throughout. They were well balanced workouts with just the right amount of exercises to challenge me, as well as those meant to keep my joints healthy and functional.

I highly recommend Damon for anyone! Not only is he fun to work with, but he's also excellent at identifying what's causing pain in the body and designing an exercise program to help correct it. I'd been having unexplained pain in multiple joints, and after just a couple of months working with Damon, I'm feeling much better. Damon is the most knowledgeable trainer that I’ve ever worked with. I'm in my mid-60’s, and when the gyms closed, I was looking for someone who’d work with me to increase my strength, flexibility and balance. Each month Damon has designed three varied, interesting weekly workouts that target my whole body. His videos and written instructions are clear and concise. I’m stronger, have lost and kept off weight, increased my stamina and lessened the pain in my knees. These are the workouts and results that I’ve looking for at the gym, but never found. I contacted Damon for help with a sore hamstring and a general loss of flexibility and energy that had increased significantly since I turned 60. We discussed, at length, my current condition, health issues and personal goals. New to Oddball Strong, but its owner-operator Damon has been helping folks like me for years. He is friendly and knowledgable, has had years of training folks with injuries to make sure that they recover mobility. I am currently a member of his program and am on my way to recovering from the years of stress eating and overall sedentary lifestyle that I've found myself in. Flexible and understanding, he is able to make workouts that involve as many or as few tools as you have at home. I cannot recommend this enough. Only this weekend I was able to move furniture alone down a flight of stairs, where 3 months ago I would have had difficulty with a partner.

I recommend anyone during this time of covid/social distancing/ stress to get on the Oddball Strong train and get healthy.
