The workouts at orange theory give you an amazing workout all in 60 minutes. The flexibility of studio locations and class times makes it easy to get my workouts in! Almost a full year into my 2025 fitness journey and I can honestly say I owe the kick start to OTF South Riding. The work outs are designed to be challenging but unlike other gyms, you don’t feel like you are being pressured to the point of injury. The coaches are knowledgeable, friendly, and come around and help correct your form, shoutout coach Meghan who is always kicking my butt to challenge myself and helping me correct my form on the floor workouts!

After having multiple joint replacements I was unsure if Orangetheory was a place for me. After trying strength classes I have found a workout that challenges me and is accessible! I joined OTF in January 2025 after not working out for years and having only experience with cardio exercises. The thought of doing group workouts was extremely intimidating to me but the environment could not be more friendly and supportive. As someone who doesn’t know what they are doing at the gym, the structure, plan and support from the coaches is a game changer and is what separates OTF from any other gym in my opinion.

A huge shout out to the amazing coaches Kit, Meghan, Corbin, and Kira. They are always offering me tons of support. Kit especially always takes the time to correct my form and explain every exercise and which muscle it works on. She is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to fitness and I just absolutely love her energy.

I have had worse customer service experience. I did cancel the subscription 1 month ago due to time issues and during that time my card got stolen so the last payment was declined unfortunately. However during this time i had my hand fractured and when office reached out to me for last payment i mentioned that i would not be able to use this last month since i fractured my hand and was ready to give doctor certificate however they still demanded the last payment inspite of knowing that i would not come to gymn. Worst management and customer service who charge money inspite of injury and knowing i wont be able to use the gymn.

Really enjoy the coaches here! Coach Kit and Coach Taylor specifically are phenomenal. Their music keeps class energized, they motivate us and offer modifications.

I’d also like to mention how much I appreciate coach Kit’s personal support. I have lost 170 pounds and have many highs and lows. While I have only known coach kit for a few weeks, I already consider her a valuable support in my life. I really wish I tried her class sooner! I love how she makes it a point to say hi to you also.

As a former collegiate volleyball player, I’ve always done better with having a coach or trainer tell me what exercises to do when at the gym and OTFs system is perfect for me.

The entire South Riding Team is fantastic and super friendly - you’re always greeted with a smile when you walk in the door.

Kit is a literal queen and I love going to her classes (I will do whatever I can to make them!). She takes the time to explain every exercise and show proper form. She is super attentive and will correct any improper form and challenge us to slow down our tempos to really get the muscles working. I always leave drenched with sweat after her classes. #OTFforlife

I’m a newbie to OrangeTheory Fitness and let me tell you, it’s a refreshing change. I love the smaller classes with challenging workouts. The staff and coaches are super friendly and I feel seen. Getting back into shape post injury is not easy, but they strike a good balance with helping people push past their comfort zones while prioritizing safety.

Shout-out to Coach Kit (of South Riding) who knows how to keep everyone encouraged, focused, and upbeat. I’m not entirely new to group fitness, but I’m no prime athlete. I need instructions that make sense. She’s able to break down exercises and equipment engagement in a way that helps newbies but keeps regulars engaged. I’m so glad I signed up to be a member.

It has been 8 months since I last left a review about Orange Theory Fitness - South Riding. I want to share an update about this fantastic fitness organization. I restarted the fitness regime in March after having been out with knee surgery and getting the okay from my physician. My mind-set at that time was to come to class twice a week. The enthusiasm, watchful eye’s of the coaches, and encouragement from other participants made this environment contagious for me to want to strive to believe in myself, and change my inner voice to not be intimated by the own personal challenges. I knew I could do more and upped the number of times of my workout to 4x/week.

WOW! I started seeing results —MUSCLES, STRENGTH and SPEED. More importantly, my POSTURE improved so much that at my Annual Physcial appt. I grew 1/2 inch. If you could only have seen the my face and not only mine, but my physician’s. I asked her to remeasure me again and it was true, I grew taller. People I am 71 and BLESSED! A special thanks to these inspiring coaches, who watch everyone’s form and corrects each in a gentle non-embarrassing manner! And, the manager and front desk, who are kind and welcoming!

I’ve been supporting this studio ever since it opened back in the summer of 2019. After a very long hiatus I decided it was time to step back into the studio and put my founders rate to use.

Some things have changed since then. What is this tread50 / strength50? I was only expecting 2G or 3G classes lol. No dedicated endurance, strength, or power only days? I also only recognized Tabby from the 2019 era as the only coach still at the SR studio.

While these changes have transpired throughout my absence one thing has remained the same, and that’s the quality of the coaches. I say this as a Marine vet and former personal trainer. If you need a little more pep in your step take Jheanelle’s class. Her high energy style will motivate you to push yourself, and you pushing yourself will motivate her (who motivates the motivator?). It’s no surprise she certifies the other coaches!

Looking forward to experiencing this (new to me) era of OTF!

Hands down one of the best gyms I’ve ever been a part of. I was definitely intimidated by the workout prior to trying it out, but everyone is so nice and helpful. Literally all you have to do is show up and they take care of the rest. The music is good, the equipment is well maintained (the treads are brand new 🤩), the floor is clean, and the coaches are AWESOME.

Also, the bathrooms always smell nice, weird compliment, but public restrooms give me the ick, these are fresh.

Here are my pros and cons of the gym.

**Pros:**
- The front desk staff are friendly and will try their best to accommodate your needs, whatever they may be.
- The coaches are great, especially Jhanaelle. She’s amazingly witty and will get you through the workout. She’s the best out of all the trainers. I’ve only been here for 2 months, and if your form is wrong, she will correct you. The other trainers are good as well.

**Cons:**
- First, the music. For me, music is a great way to get through my workout, but some trainers play off-the-wall music. I get it, it’s Northern Virginia, but still, I wish some trainers would mix in the new sound of music with whatever they want to play. I’m not motivated by some of the music being played.
- Secondly, this isn’t the gym's fault, but as humans, we all have body odor. It’s highly perplexing that I sometimes work out next to people who just stink. I’ve walked out before because I cannot stand the smell. Additionally, some people don’t wipe down their machines after use, even though they are told to. Please put on deodorant before coming to the gym. It’s disturbing to have to smell such bad odor. Just my two cents.

The workout techniques are great and meticulously designed to optimize your strength and help you become the best version of yourself. You truly feel like part of a family at Orangetheory. Everyone is friendly and always willing to answer your questions. The classes are fun and the trainers are constantly introducing new challenges or signature workouts to keep things interesting. Coaches Jheanelle, Jennifer and JayLene are outstanding. They are passionate about their work, highly professional, and push you to reach your full potential. The rest of the coaching staff is excellent as well. Roxy is a fantastic studio manager who is very attentive to members' needs. Everyone who works here are awesome and very helpful most especially the coaches. However, the equipment needs upgrade most especially the treadmill. I have been to midlothian and short pump location when I visit my in laws and their equipments are new. Both ashburn and south riding location need equipment upgrade. We have joined classes here and I think 3 times we have been asked to be moved to a different spot coz the tread or the rower is not working properly. 😕 a little annoying for the amount of money you pay for each class.

Customer service is very bad, i joined this studio few months back and they offered me heart rate device on 50% promotional rate as they have ongoing monthly promotion. They charged me full amount for the device at the time so i reach out to front desk and they took the note saying manager will reach out. When manager never reached out to me i followed up them again, front desk responded that it was 30% promotional rate which she was lied abt however i said okey refund my additional amount and i never received the refund.
After a month i cancelled my membership and email to studio manager many times regarding my refund but not received any response yet.

When you think you can't do another rep or add more weight, they know you can so don't let them down or yourself! They can really make a tough hour workout pretty fun! This OrangeTheory studio has been my home studio since January 2021. The workout has been my saving grace for mental health and helped me become stronger after having my third baby. I am a regular early morning member and attend classes 5-6 days a week. There many things I love about this studio but the last year I felt quite a decline with certain aspects.

1. Equipment. Many machines are often under repair or broken, rower straps are worn and not replaced until near breaking point. Rower machines don’t always pick up meters rowed making it frustrating particularly during benchmark/competitive rows. Safety is the main concern but I also hope this doesn’t affect Coaches wages when stations are being taken out of service.
2. Communication for Challenges. There is often a lot of hype to get people to sign up for things but once the money is taken or challenge starts the hype dies down quickly. Terms are not consistent. For example Marathon Month is a month long. In the beginning everyone had to stop their treadmills to clear screens to ensure fairness. By week two it became an honor system to reset distances which many members did not adhere to because of the lack of vigilance. This becomes frustrating especially for paid challenges. The staff/coaches need to consistently state and do the same thing for challenges but this message needs to start from the top.
3. Turnover. There has been an incredibly high turnover rate. Particularly for Head Coach and Studio Manager since 2021. Makes you wonder how the franchise and OTF in general treats/pays its employees. You can feel the change/absence as a member because things often fall through the cracks. For the staff who have been there a while you can see them putting in great effort but it seems like they get little support from management/franchise.
4. Posting Results. It still baffles me that benchmark/signature workouts results take forever to post. When Katie was Head Coach results came within a day, sometimes the same evening. Results should post in a more timely manner and certainly before the next challenge. Catch Me If You Can was on the 12th then the 500M row on the 17th and nothing has posted yet but Hell Week started as of today (the 24th) This seems like something an SA can help prepare and have management review before posting. In a time where social media is highly relevant, the studio could do a better job with this.
5. Lack of Focus on Member Retention. Not sure if this is a corporate or franchise initiative but offering Founder Members rates for new member sign ups when regular members were charged a $10 increase within the last year does leave a sour note. There seems to be a lot of focus on getting new members than on member retention. My understanding is that from a franchise level there are things that can be done separately from corporate to ensure current paying members are content and continue to see the value of the membership.
6. Heavy Weight Rack. There are not enough heavy weights and there needs to be in-between weights particularly between 15-35lbs as many members can lift within this weight range (17.5lbs/22.5lbs/27.5lbs/32.5lbs if they can make these)

I absolutely adore Vanessa, Rachel, Jennifer and Tabby as coaches. Tabby in my opinion has the best music for my personal taste for when I work out. These ladies work hard themselves it’s inspiring to see the results of their efforts and have them as coaches. They spend time getting to know members and genuinely develop good rapport you truly get a family vibe from these ladies.

I’m partly writing this review to support the Bingo game for this month but also many points above need to be addressed. It would be great to receive follow up as I know many members share the same sentiments I do.

If you’ve never tried OrangeTheory it is definitely an incredible workout and worth trying. Despite my above concerns I still enjoy the workouts and will always recommend anyone to give it a try!

It's been 3 months in and my overall fitness health has improved. I love this location very accommodating and within a month front desk remembered my name (I only go twice a week so that's quick). I keep finding myself buying additional classes every month to try to do 3 times a week and that's how much I enjoy the classes. I usually have coach Rachel or Vanessa or Nicole since ei am early riser but any coach I had before are all awesome.

Excellent gym, been going for about a year. Very friendly staff, coaches are great and fun, workout is structured and on time. The schedule is great because they offer classes all day long. What i like the most is that you don't have to be super fit to join and enjoy. it's for all ages, all shapes, it's for everyone, just make sure you dont forget your monitor, it's $10 to rent one for an hour which is very expensive.

This place is OK.

As usual, I don't enjoy that OTF promotes a very bizarre sort of mentality in its members. Most (like me) only arrive on the dot at class time and leave the studio immediately at class end time.

It is no secret that I have had insane difficulty with making a single acquaintance at any OTF studio location. My review history supports this too.

However, I'll rate up bc the location is convenient enough, parking is free and generous, and I get along w/ most of the coaches. Which is at least the bare minimum that one can ask for.

The one thing I dislike about this or any other OTF studio is the insane high prices (for the unlimited tier I pay 180$ monthly) and also even despite paying monthly costs, it is impossible to meet anyone or make even an acquaintance to start. Life is brutal and OTF even more so.

As said, to be fair I think this location is OK, and the coaches are friendly enough, most of the time. I will likely revisit but I don't hold any high hopes on forging social connections or meeting any worthwhile folks here.

The workouts at OTF are great, and some of the coaches are amazing. However, the new front desk employees need to improve their friendly customer service and be aware of the workout of the day when checking in members. They seem to be consistently unaware or confused. Additionally, the new coaches could be more friendly, particularly with their body language. I have provided feedback directly to the gym.

The music can be hit or miss, with some songs being energizing while others are not so great. Nevertheless, I love OTF for its focus on endurance and power. The studio is well-maintained, and parking is easy to find. I highly recommend joining OTF.

Update:

There has been a noticeable and positive transformation in the way members are being welcomed. The workouts have become much more fun and challenging lately which is great. I commend the owners and coaches. Thanks.

The trainers are great (at least those that stick around)!! I always get a good workout. I appreciate the structure and being told what to do!!! However, the attrition rate is way too high (trainers and front desk) and the music selection needs a serious overhaul. There are always comments about the music on the OTF Facebook page...listen to the people who are paying the money.

After being asked by my wife to come along and try a class for well over a year, I finally did in Jan of 2021 and was really surprised at just how much I enjoyed the variety of running, rowing (my fave), and floor weight/core exercises the gym offers. Before long, I was going 5-6 days a week and still am two years later, with my wife as often as I can (it’s a great activity to do together!). In just an hour a day, you really walk out feeling accomplished, and it’s a great way to either kick-start your day or transition from work to home (600-900 calories later).

On top of being super convenient with locations and class schedules, I really appreciate the friendly and supportive staff, who quickly get to know you by name, and the coaches who take a sincere interest in keeping the classes energetic, fun, and instructive where needed. They have a variety of coaches and class options so you can find ones who fit your preferences (music, energy, instruction), or you might just appreciate the added variety throughout the week. I won’t name them all here, but I can’t help but mention Haley and Jheanelle who keep the front end and gym running in top form! Also, you’ll quickly get to know other members and feel a real sense of OTFamily among them.

Definitely recommend trying out a class and seeing what you think. I know I was surprised and now wish I had sooner!

I just joined back after almost 2 years and it felt so good! I’ve been to several studios, and I can say that this one is clean, has great staff, and a better layout than some others. I love the classes and that you will never get the same workout everyday. No matter how much it may hurt, it definitely gets the job done! I missed you OTF and will definitely remain a lifetime member!
