The majority of the time when I'm here, it's usually because my host gym is closed. Normally I get some very friendly staff who know the systems and can explain things. However, on some occasions, there is a female manager in a black shirt up there who acts rude and unprofessional to people who come in and when you try to do something, you get a whole bunch of excuses. Your staff may be great, but your management needs an attitude adjustment.

Today when I came there was only one front desk attendant for a weekend day, but they were amazing. Ainsley was super helpful with answering my questions and so much more friendly and better to interact with than the older lady, Rachel who works there and always has an attitude. I watched Ainsley handle the front desk, clean, and help customers while I was there and was super impressed. Hopefully this location hires more associates like Ainsley because I was really questioning on if I was going to keep coming to the Centreville location.

This is probably the biggest and cleanest PF I’ve visited in the United States! They were also friendly when I arrived for the first time at this location and greeted me. The men’s locker room has plenty of clean showers and changing cubicles and the bathroom was super clean at 12pm noon on a Wednesday after Labor Day! I wish all the other PF locations were up this par! Thank you to the staff and employees who take pride in their remarkable work! I wish I lived in this area!! I simply stopped by on a summer road trip. I’m so impressed that I’ve reached out to the executive leadership team and submitted praise, even though I don’t know the GM or owner of this particular franchise. Good job!!

The staff go above and beyond to keep the gym ann organized, clean, and friendly environment. Equipment is kept in good condition. Although there are often multiple treadmills under repair, it has never been an issue for me. I want to callout the employee named Brian or Bryan for always welcoming people in with a wave hello and a smile. I see him go out of his way to make sure he greets everyone that walks in, despite many people ignoring him. I’ve been through the retail wringer, so I know that feeling all too well. Bryan/Brian, if you see this, just know that you are incredibly appreciated!

It's not a bad place to work out, but oftentimes, there are machines that are broken, and the supply stations are empty. Plus, when the staff sees you three or four times a week during the check-in process, they ask you, "is this your home gym?" No, I just deliberately go out of my way three or four times a week to work out here. Of course it is my home gym, you guys see me every other day. However, the gym is easily accessible from route 28 and has lots of parking available.

Machines broken for weeks on end. Add this to the normal issue with Planet Fittness of not having much (non-cardio) equipment, and you can easily spend more time waiting for machines than you do actually working out.

*2 month update - two leg machines have been broken for 3 months now, and another 5-6 other machines are also down. About 50% of the equipment is broken.

First of all I don’t know how to turn on the machines that’s why there is a control panel behind the desk.
Extremely unprofessional experience. I stood at the desk while the staff member stayed on the phone, completely ignoring me. Multiple Planet Fitness members walked past me as I waited, and not once did anyone acknowledge I was there. By the time I got to the third massage chair none of which were working I finally said, “Man, what the hell?” Instead of offering help, the employee told me to relax. How about helping the paying members who actually show up instead of standing around worrying about whatever else you’re doing? Totally unprofessional and disappointing. Usually they are a wonderful help and fast at every other location I’ve ever been.

Mostly and basically, it’s an outdated location.
I usually enjoy Planet Fitness locations, but this one left a lot to be desired in terms of comfort. The massage chairs are outdated, extremely noisy, and honestly more painful than relaxing. Instead of easing tension, the back massage almost throws you out of the seat, and the airbag “leg massage” barely exists — there’s no noticeable pressure at all.

Another major concern was the state of the air conditioning. The vent was visibly dirty, and it made the whole space feel stuffy rather than refreshing.

On the positive side, the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the gym floor is clean. With some updates to the equipment and maintenance of the AC, this location could easily be much better, but there’s no hot water in the showers, and the shower area needs some work.

Like other reviews have stated, I’ve also been coming to this planet fitness for years and never had any issue. I go out of the way from manassas to centerville because I’ve always liked it so much better but yesterday that old lady at the front honestly turned me away from centerville forever, almost 3 consecutive visits each one she had something to nit pick about all of which were things that I could literally back up in the moment. Mind you I’m a black card member too and ONLY so that id be able to go to the centerville location. This is a great planet fitness. I’ve gone to multiple in the area and around the country. The location is kept generally very clean. A big shot out to the franchise owner who continually invests in new machines, repairs, and moving equipment for better flow and improved experience. I didn’t know how good it was until I went to the sterling location and the machines were crap! The other patrons are also about their work. Everyone keeps their head downs and works out. No annoying instagrammers or half naked people! I took away one star because not infrequently some of the cleaning supplies and bathrooms aren’t restocked and engaging the staff is usually a miss if you bring it to their attention.

The first time I came to this location, checking in was a bit uncomfortable. The older lady that was at the front desk was rude when explaining the visitor check-in process. Worst Gym Experience

Great gym, great friendly staff. Their recent update is amazing. Brand new machines for everything. Definitely best bang for the buck and 24/7. People of all ages and physiques. No "intimidation" factor but definitely motivating. Gets busy during core hours but never been to a good gym that doesn't. For the money it's good value. The cleanliness of the locker rooms could be improved a bit but I don't think it's awful. It's pretty large and spacious, and it's open 24/7 which is really nice for people who like working out late or an random hours. I only saw about 3 out of order machines. Been going to this gym for about 18 months now. It’s a great value for money if you’re simply looking to get the exercise in. You won’t find that much free weight equipment except for dumbbells, but they have several smith machine cages and a leg press. I wish they had a few more benches as the cages are usually taken during rush hours. Equipment gets repaired fairly quickly and the facilities are always clean. I really can’t complain about anything for $10/mo.

Update 6/7/22. Lowering my rating to 4 stars as this gym has lately become very busy. Be ready to wait in queues for rack machines, even if you come during lunch time, for example. Lots of kids come here in groups and are a bit loud and obnoxious. PF is definitely a newbie’s gym and most people you see there are new and constantly changing.

Update 1/18/23: Lowering to 3 stars. The gym is noticeably going down in quality. I don’t know if it’s post-COVID surge and a lack of staff but 3/4 stair climbers have been sitting broken for weeks now. Also, showers are dirty and it’s gotten even busier during the 4-7PM window. At least they haven’t increased their pricing (yet).

Update 6/24/24: This gym is barely worth 2 stars as the men’s showers have lost their soap dispensers and usually only about 1 stall is usable if you don’t count the handicap stall. Out of 3 regular stalls one has almost 0 water pressure and the other has only hot water. Too bad it’s so close to my home and almost no other option exists other than exorbitantly priced Lifetime Fitness, otherwise I’d switch immediately.

Update 7/13: The last normal working shower now is also broken. The shower curtains are absolutely disgusting (see pic). However, this PF invested thousands into upgrading the machines. How about upgrading the showers?

I canceled my membership after only 2 months. Despite the cancellation, I was still charged an annual gym membership fee of $50 AFTER I cancelled. I tried emailing 3 separate planet fitness gyms (customer service line) hoping at least one would reply, and I haven’t received a single response back. It’s been a month. When I tried asking about it in person, the front desk staff said they weren’t able to help and just referred me to their website… I suppose I’ll try going back in person.

This location is frequently overwhelmed by high schoolers and Instagram heroes more interested in occupying equipment than actually working out. This would not be an issue were it not for the official sign of Planet Fitness Centreville (“Temporarily Out of Order”) routinely occupying a good 20-30% of machines. Staff rarely monitor machines to evict the serial sitters, which makes working out difficult.

I will rarely, if ever, shower at this PF because of the mold on the shower walls. That, and the clientele who shave certain regions in said showers and leave the remnants behind. Between that and the random high schoolers using the mirrors in the locker room to flex and taking photos of themselves in the act (next to the “no cell phone” signs), the locker rooms at the Centreville PF are useless.

Update as of Feb 2024. This gym has turned into a literal disaster since it has opened. The machines are now old and filthy. The women's bathroom is in desperate need of a deep cleaning. Actually the entire gym is in need of a deep cleaning. So many machines are broken and stay broken for weeks on end. It's ridiculous. I understand that the cost of a membership is not a lot of money and you get what you pay for, but my goodness. How disappointing. Desk staff was friendly when I checked in. Most customers were courteous enough to wipe down their machines after use, but not all. There were plenty available machines and I went around 8:30 on January 3rd when everybody, myself included, has decided they need to refocus on their health. Staff is friendly, but does not pay attention to what's going on in the club. Disinfectant dispensers are often empty or not functional. Paper towels in the wipe-down stations are often empty. Me and my wife we go there every day one day she was stuck in traffic and I was there before her the desk agent a dark gentleman with spectacle told me you got to leave I asked him why and told him that my wife will be here shortly I he told me to leave with lots of rudness I asked him questions about how do I approach this situation next time he is like you got to leave we pay them every month for this.

This fantastic gym is one of only who is operating 24/7 while most areas doesn’t even operate anymore and this gym within this type of hours operates very great in terms of being clean or not very crowded to take a seat to work out or wait to do so.

I joined Planet Fitness through my health insurance with a plan that allowed me to work out at any Planet Fitness for a monthly fee. I went to Centreville to work out and the person at the desk told me I could not. I showed my card and said I was a paying member. He said only the manager, who was not there, could help me and I could not work out until he took care of me. When I told him that I am already paying for my membership and want to work out, he told me he was getting mad in a threatening manner. When I said that I needed to record this conversation for my own protection, he yelled at me to leave immediately. I left as I was not sure what he was going to do next. I contacted corporate, have tried to contact the manager and have received no follow-up from anyone. I am now paying for a membership that I am not using. I will not use Planet Fitness in Centreville until I can have assurances of my safety from the employee who threatened me. (Note, the Planet Fitness in Fairfax got me going in 2 minutes and were as friendly as can be. I was working out there in less than 5 minutes from coming in. I would highly recommend the Fairfax PF over the Centreville one)

Nastiest gym ever!! Never any hand soap in the restrooms. Bathroom don't have toilet tissue. Its quite obvious that the owners/managers truly do NOT care. Staff never say hello and are always on their cell phone. Need to bring in 25 gallons of bleach and sanitize the whole damn place. It's that disgusting!!

I go here 4-5 times a week. They went from 1 stair climber being broken to 3… 1 more and they will have 0 of them working. When 2 of them were broken, I was at the gym and saw mechanics working on them to no resolve. This was weeks ago. So who knows what the cause of delay is.

Hygiene is an issue in this facility. Cleaning paper rolls are not working, machines and equipments are not being cleaned often. Shower rooms are unclean. If no serious attention, I personally discontinue my membership

Staff need to prioritize sanitation. Bathrooms should be cleaned every hour and the good PFs have somebody wiping down equipment, restocking paper towels, and walking around for a cleanliness check as well.

This gym is dirty. Bathrooms are always always disgusting, stationary bikes are always broken even though members report them broke, and the smith machines are awkwardly placed way to close to each other.
