My father and I just came back after 2 months of March 31st, while my mother was at work and before then today on May 27th, 2025. On June 27th, 2025, I went there alone instead of my mother, who was tired of walking and running on the treadmill, and her phone battery went dead while trying to charge up with the phone charger already when she was waiting for me by the car SUV. July 30th, I was with my mother to head to Planet Fitness for a little workout on the treadmill for 20 minutes after she gave me her truck keys on my way out of the building before she go to the bathroom and the same thing on her way out too. Today, on September 22nd, 2025, my father and I just finished our workout skills to strengthen our energy before we leave for my newest barbershop for me. On this today, on November 10, 2025, I was up about at least 25 minutes in a bit of 1 mile in a row with it. The last time of the minute since November 5th, 2025, was I was within 25 minutes in 1 mile cause I my father was asked me to do that, but I couldn't get a hold of it for my own self-confidence to my heart.

Tevyn and RAShawn ARE AMAZING!!! They are always so happy and excited when I walk in they always greet me with a “have a great workout” or “have a great day “ at the end of the workout . I have been terrified of going to the gym bc I have no clue what I’m doing but out of all the plant fitness I go to this is the best one iv ever been too and it makes me feel so happy and safe when I walk into this gym. I have been attending fitness classes at Planet Fitness for the last six months. Simone, the instructor/trainer, is fantastic! In both the regular classes and those for seniors, she tailors workouts to individuals so that we are working to our own abilities. Staff is great, friendly and courteous. A variety of equipment and well kept. I attend two trainer lead classes. The trainer is knowledgeable and aware of our levels. I love this planet fitness! I travel quite a bit and have been to many, this one is by far the BEST! Lighting is perfect, not too bright or overstimulating; all PF’s should take note! This is the cleanest one I have ever been to, paper towels and sanitizer are ALWAYS full and floor is ALWAYS clean. Best of all is the staff! I go around 5 in the morning and these gentleman are so personable and kind! Sean and Chris deserve 10 stars! After 1 day they remembered me, greeted me every morning and had actual conversation not just a good morning. It’s not often you get real authentic kindness anymore and it was such a great way to start my day every morning this week, they are INCREDIBLE and the real reason I am writing this review so they can get the recognition they deserve!

Please leave the scanner alone. So frustrating. We don't both need to be moving an object. Either you move the scanner or I move my phone. Since I have to move my phone, you could not move the scanner and that really helps. Whenever no one is posted by the scanner like a sentry, I can slip right in. Otherwise we play this weird technological high five game with our electronics. Just leave it alone. If I can self checkout groceries, I can figure out how to scan myself into the gym.

I've been going to this gym for a short time, but I’ve visited many gyms across the United States. Overall, I like the Planet Fitness brand because their locations generally meet the expected standards and requirements.

2. Pros

Location – very convenient and easy to get to.

Space – the gym is quite large and spacious, so it doesn’t feel overcrowded.

Ventilation – good airflow, making workouts comfortable.

Staff – very friendly and welcoming, which creates a positive atmosphere.

3. Cons

Locker rooms – too small, which can make changing inconvenient.

Showers – weak water pressure and not enough personal hygiene areas.

Equipment condition – noticeably worn out, which affects the overall experience. It would be great if more attention were given to maintenance because quality equipment is essential for a good workout.

4. Conclusion

Overall, this gym has a lot of positives, including a great location, spacious facilities, and friendly staff. However, I’d love to see improvements in the condition of the equipment and the comfort of the shower areas. Hopefully, management will address these issues.

So here's the thing.. the facility is clean, the staff varies from nice to neutral, and the machines work. Most of the patrons are friendly or standoffish, but I haven't found any mean or rude.

But their WHOLE POLICY IS A JOKE! Their premise is " judgment free zone" and proceed to be SUPER judgemental about what they find acceptable, down to being able to humiliate you publicly if you do something outside what they find acceptable. It's beyond ridiculous.

So. If you're a casual gym goer or a cardio bunny, you'll be fine. I expect. But if you're a serious weightlifter and push yourself, be ware. They don't want you there.

This location isn't the cleanest. I've been to several. The women's locker room/bathroom is dirty. I hadn't been in about a week and the same Bobbie pin that I dropped in the dressing room floor was still there. The shower stall that I use still had the faded soap scummy shower curtain that makes my skin crawl. It's clear that they don't clean the bathroom. There was dirt on the floor tile in the shower and where you rest your shampoo and soap. Very unkempt. The hydro massage chair #1 smellls so badly. When you sit down the funk comes up from the bed. Ugh. I had to stop my session and request bed #2. Total difference. #1 needs a deep cleaning or to be thrown away. The smell is repulsive.

What makes a great gym experience is customer service. I have a bad habit of getting a membership and then due to it being too busy, or feeling uncomfortable to an introvert like myself I cancel the membership and just work out a little bit at home. However, I have had the best gym experience I've ever had thanks to Johnathan. He was welcoming, he had an outgoing personality, when I asked about the hydro and message chairs he was knowledgeable and just made it feel like I was at home working out. Some people such as myself are anxious about going to the gym or nervous and he was able to provide a welcoming feeling, it's hard to make people like me feel that way and he did a great job. previous times everybody looked miserable and my work out time instead of 2 hours was 30 mins, and I thought about just canceling but after today I'll keep coming back but that kid deserves a raise.

I'm a over the road truck and I park at the gyms for a shower and a workout. This facility hands down Is one of the nastiest ones I've been to. For the love of God the men's restroom was disgusting to say the least. Filth one the sinks with toothpaste Splatter on the mirrors. Defecation in one stall that look like its been there for hours. Showers were nasty as well. Went to look for the overnight staff......he's outside with redeyes.

Updating my review. Although the place is still usually clean. Staff are hit or miss, but i don't really care about that. The main reason for my downgrade are the abysmal hours. Not being open past 9pm on the weekends?! Not a fan of that.

But this the kicker the staff gone tell me oh well I need something for you to work out today. And I told her I can take care of it Wednesday when I get paid still a no go and my regular bill was paid. I have had a few gym membership and only a few I must say I like. But one thing I can say about gold’s gym if you come in there and your bill not paid. Long as you give them a date when it will be paid they will put that information in the computer and you will not get denied to work up until that date you promised. The reason I chose to go with PF over other local gyms is because of the no judgement zone and access to a coach/ fitness trainer. I'm so glad I did! A fitness journey can be difficult to start, continue, and stay motivated 😫. One person who continues to encourage and has the personality to keep me motivated is planet fitness trainer Somone Small. Even In my times of not going to the gym. When I return it’s always with a smile, tough workouts and the encouragement I need. Thanks sooo much Somone for the support and push I need to keep fitness a priority in my life ❤️

After a year to been a member from this gym I can say the whole staff is a friendly, polite, and easy going on but having a training in this days is almost impossible to find and Somone Small goes fair and beyond to give the best training at the Gym ... if was not for her prolly I'll quit in the second month I signed in the gym but training with her is being a challenging (in a super good/positive way) and very rewarding. Thanks to Planet Fitness to gave us an amazing training including in our membership 💕

Sure Planet Fitness carry’s one of the lowest membership rates out here however the only reason I stay is because of fitness trainer Somone Smalls at the Colonial Heights location. Here willingness and knowledge to assist in your fitness goals has been unmatched. Thanks Smalls!

Change your banking info b4 u cancel......(LIKE I DID)....Let them know months ahead of time I was canceling & they still (attempted) 2 take yearly fee....
