Caleb was awesome in showing me around, answering all my questions, and acquainting me with everything. Everyone was also very welcoming. I also loved the cleanliness and variety of equipment; everything seems well-maintained and new. Showers & lockers also seemed spacious and well-maintained. One big suggestion for improvement: HIRE TRAINERS, please! I would feel safer if there were certified trainers on the floor and/or readily available.

I recently Re- joined PF. It was a tossup between PF and the new gym that just opened in Lynchburg, but I liked the 30 min circuit that PF had to offer. I was in there yesterday and much to my disappointment, they have removed the 30 min. circuit in this facility. I am really sad about this decision. The staff is great, and the rest of the facility looks phenomenal, but I wish they would bring the 30 min. circuit back.

Great hours, great staff, great equipment, great environment. I was disappointed when they removed red and green lights from 30 minute workout area and even MORE disappointed when they removed 30 minute workout out area and blended equipment in with other equipment. 30 minute workout area was a great area for those in a hurry or for seniors. I would like to encourage corporate to reconsider their decision to eliminate this area.

I've been a member here since 2021 and recently they posted that there would be new machines coming in and we were excited but when they closed to add in the new machines we noticed that there was more changes than we expected... there was two of the same machines for the more popular machines and now there is only one. We already had to wait when there was two and now it's even harder to get on them. They kept garbage machines that are hardly used and now it's all crammed in so no where to wait if you did want to wait for something.... i heard the yellow 30 min station was being replaced with the new machines but they kept them and now they take up space on the main floor and where they were is all for a hand ful of benches... cool to have free weights but it seems like whoever made the call on this new upgrade didn't look at it from the gym goers point of view.... long story is i wish they could take these new machines back if it was costing us the machines we already had....

I’ve been a member since 2013 when they opened- but I’m just stopping by to say I love the new front desk worker (Brian, I think?? Tattoos on his arms, I believe if not Brian)…he’s great. He’s laid-back and soft-spoken, which makes for an EXCELLENT entrance into the gym at 6 in the morning. He doesn’t scream “good morning!” and try to engage you in conversation… Brian is the perfect person to greet you when you’re barely awake. Give that man a raise. 😂

This facility is clean with friendly staff, and very purple as far as branding goes. It does not have plate loaded equipment other than smith machines, but they are soon renovating to include new plate loaded machines (probably to compete with the new crunch fitness) Overall it's a great atmosphere and is open 24/7 except on weekends when it closes overnight.

The reason they only get 3 stars is because first, all of the central Virginia planet fitnesses do not have any classes offered for black card members. They don't tell you this when signing up or in the app. You can literally register for a class in the app, show up expecting it to happen, and the staff there will inform you that no classes are offered.

Second is that the bathrooms always smell atrocious. It's really bad and it's strange because they always seem clean, but they smell awful every time without fail for the last 6 months.

I have to update my review. This place is not very well maintained. Most of the equipment does not function properly. Mostly, the heart rate mechanism is broke on many machines. The worst is the men's room. One urinal has been out of service for over a week. Now, one of the toilets are out of order. It can't be much more than a dead battery or bad sensor. For crying out loud, call technicians in, I dont understand it. There are no apologies from management. Also, this place has become a playground, instead of a gym. Rules are not enforced. Bags on the floor, people sitting on machines playing with their phones, having conversations. Why are phones allowed on the workout floor. I feel for the lady who had men take pics of her. My phone and distractions are locked away when I work out. Its only going to get worse when the students come back. Management and employees must do better. My health plan pays for my membership here, and I wouldn't pay a cent for this place right now. I don't need a canned, BS response, just fix the issues please.

4 $25 a month, I can work out three times a week and go use the massage chairs as much as I want to. I can even bring a guest. The only thing that is frustrating is people sitting on a machine and just playing on their phone. Having to stand around and wait while they enjoy themselves is not a fun time.

I’ve been really enjoying this gym. There’s tons of machines I didn’t know how to use but the visuals on each machines really help. I love how there’s multiple options of workout machines for each muscle. Clean equipment & environment! Best value for your money in town!! The only thing I wished was different was them not having classes. As a beginner I would really benefit from some direction from a class or trainer. Yea all pfs are pretty much the same what sets them apart is cleanliness. It’s always 5 ppl scanning you in but the bathroom is filthy. I really am one to believe just because you can say something doesn’t mean you should. I like planet fitness employees and I really have not had a bad customer experience so much but I really do not want to go to a gym that does not do anything about people who get on exercise equipment and then spend just as much or more time texting/talking than they do their workout on the equipment. I am definitely guilty of it if it is slow to check a text or play a different song so not an angel here. But that is not at all what I am talking about. I am talking about people that stay on a machine for 20 minutes and text more than they work out when others are waiting. Even asked if I could work a set in today to someone that was doing it and he said no he just got on it which wasnt true. I was waiting by the wall so I know. It happens a lot here and I don’t know why the staff doesn’t make a rule about it but I asked and they said just ask to do a rep In between their set. Well that doesn’t work so….

Planet Fitness is a great option if you're looking for an affordable gym in town. It's definitely the least expensive place around, and for the price, you really can’t beat the value. I enjoy using the hybrid red light tanning bed and the massage chairs—when they’re working. (Sometimes the massage chairs are out of order, but when they’re up and running, they're such a nice bonus!) It’s a solid, no-frills place to get a workout in without breaking the bank. Overall, it’s been a good experience for what I need!

I want to thank Mel and Helen. I got my lock stuck on my locker. It was a lock that required a fingerprint. My keys and everything, including my phone was in that locker. They found a charger and extension cord. I got a massage while the lock was charging. I was able to get the lock off once it charged. They went over and above to help me. Been a PF member for a few years now. Been in half a dozen ones or so at this point. I’ll always argue that PF is the best value gym in most cities; some notable exceptions being a place like Salt Lake City where there are 5 gym chains all providing a similar value, but overwhelmingly, PF is the best value gym in town. Staff is generally nice, place is generally clean and well stocked, and equipment doesn’t stay broke for long. Black card is extremely great value if someone lives with you and you are carpooling to PF - 1 membership serves you both! Will probably be a long time customer to the PF brand tbh.

I've been to many PFs on the east coast and this is one of my favorites from friendly staff, clean environment, nice black catd memebrr lounge area, to sufficient equipement. I do have a suggestion for this location. Please consider adding mirrors to the tanning bed rooms or at a minimum a centrally located mirror in the Black Card members spa / lounge area. Having the ability to see that your clothing, hair, etc is back in its correct place prior to existing the area would be a great help. Thank you!

This is NOT a safe space for black people. We have gone here for months and never had anyone bother us. All around the gym there are people recording consistently. My son and I are working out recording like we always do and White girl walks up to us and ONLY us and tells us to stop recording. We asked her why she was only talking to us but not the other people who were White who were still recording. When we confronted her she them proceeded to tell us that she was biracial (not sure what that had to do with anything but ok) so us being racially profiled was impossible.Again we asked why were we the only ones approached without answering she left saying she was getting her regional manager. Her regional manager comes over pretty aggressive and began to tell us how we can't record. Again we asked why this was suddenly an issue and why we were the only ones they approached (still no one addressed the other people who were literally recording at the time probably recorded this dumb exchange) still they said nothing to them. I then told the regional manager that I just wanted my money refunded because I do not feel safe, wanted or welcome in a space where I'm being racially profiled. I do want to note that had already cancelled my membership 2 days earlier. The manager said that he would refund... I'll keep you posted. I'll be keeping this updated there's also coincidentally a video of this exchange...

An absolutely awful experience. I’ve gone to planet fitness here for about two years and until this it has been OK. I went in a few months ago to try to cancel my subscription because I was moving. One of the girls working there told me that canceling my gym membership was just an excuse, and made me feel incredibly insignificant and insecure. The other gentleman, who was kind and helpful, told me that the best thing to do would be freezing it until August, then, because I only signed up for a year it would be canceled and I wouldn’t be charged. August comes around and I’m charged the fees and I thought that it was the last time because it was the last month I had signed up for, but then September came around and I was charged again. I went to the gym to talk to somebody about it and make sure that it had been canceled and that I wouldn’t be charged anymore. The initial person I talk to was kind then, the assistant manager, Ginny, came out and stated that “no one would have told you that” and treated me like I was stupid. She canceled my membership and told me that I’d be never be able to go back- which after this experience will never be a problem. Overall, throughout this experience they were dishonest, rude and condescending. Absolutely unacceptable & should be ashamed of how they treat customers .

I really enjoy this gym. Only gripe I have is the locker room (men not sure about womens) cleaning schedule is trash. The showers are always dirty. I've gone in the locker room for several days in a row and same trash is sitting in the showers. The gym had one manager in 2023 I think his name was Scott, he use to stay cleaning the locker room but now that he is gone it's pretty disgusting in the shower plus they are always broke (temp valve).

Planet fitness prides itself in being a no judgment zone. I agree with this philosophy. I think that removing the weight scales however was a little over the top. I asked and was told it was a management decision. Being able to monitor one's weight is an important tool to your progress and a motivational incentive.

It's affordable and clean. The men's room usually smells like the bathroom stalls, because there's no division physically between the two. Policies, they enforce them to the letter. It's ideal mostly because it is still cheaper than a discounted YMCA membership.

Very crowded here which is a good thing if you're going to social hour but for me too crowded means waiting for the equipment I want to use wasn't a bad gym just very very busy

You need to take down the “Judgment FREE zone” sign because it is simply NOT TRUE. It is a VERY JUDGMENTAL GYM.

It was so bad that I chose not to share it. The gym I'm complaining about is in or near Satellite Beach, Florida
I have never had an issue with my home base gym or any others I've visited until the one on ? Apollo Dr. In Florida. The staff and everyone, especially Tom, are wonderful in the Lynchburg gym.

A great gym no matter your fitness level! There are plenty of machines and free weights that will accommodate beginners all the way to high level fitness enthusiasts! The staff is always attentive with a smile on their faces! Just what I want from a gym!

I am new in town and transferred my membership to this location. The staff here are so kind. I was able to speak with Sam on the phone who walked me through each step in order to transfer my membership. He was patient and made the process very easy. This Planet Fitness location is clean, has everything you need to get in a good workout, and the locker rooms are nice. The location is also beneficial if you want to shop as it’s right in a mall. I want to emphasize again how kind and courteous the staff have been at this location. I love going here.

Been a member at Planet Fitness on and off for years. I love it because it’s cheap, has all the equipment that I need, and it’s close to home. But….I hate trying to use the 30 Minute Circuit. They have a sign posted that that area is for the Xpress work out only but no staff seem to monitor it. Ever. On the rare occasions when I do see staff walking back there, they just look at people using the machines and assume that they’re actually doing the work out. For those of us that are using it for the purpose intended. It’s incredibly frustrating because we might be there for a limited amount of time And are unable to use that circuit for its intended purpose. And don’t even bother saying anything to the staff that might be working. All they do is suggest that you ask the person using the equipment to please move so that you can complete your work out. Which quite frankly is an effective and causes conflict When this whole thing could be resolved if staff would actually enforce the gym policy that’s posted if it wasn’t for this, I would’ve posted a higher review.

Just transferred my membership to the Lynchburg, VA location. This is a nice gym, not overly crowded. A little smaller than the one I was used to, but has all the same equipment. It is kept very clean and staff is friendly and helpful.

The team here in Lynchburg keeps the club so clean it’s immaculate. Every time I walk in, it’s extremely clean and ready to go. Even with such high foot traffic and usage, the gym it’s so well maintained. I can’t stress enough how good of a job the crew does keeping the gym above and beyond standards.

I needed a gym that was close to home and cheap. Planet fitness is both that and more! They have all the equipment I need and others I never heard of. They are located in the mall, which is convenient with plenty of parking. I always feel safe and don't have to wait long to use the machines. They offer special perks like tanning beds and massage. There are tvs and music, showers and lockers, and free fitness instructors. This gym covers all the bases!
