Planet Fitness on Hull Street and at the Meadowbrook location have both been great places to work out, with friendly, welcoming staff and a clean, comfortable atmosphere.

Facility and equipment

Both locations are fairly new, well kept, and always look clean when walking in.
The only real drawback is that the dumbbells top out at 75 pounds, which can be limiting for heavier lifting and progression on certain exercises.

Pricing and value

The month‑to‑month rate of around 25 dollars is an excellent value considering the quality of the facilities and the level of maintenance and staffing. My plan also included access to the red light therapy sessions which is phenomenal

I really enjoy this planet fitness(North Chesterfield )& my mom enjoys it as well. It is conveniently located very close to me which is perfect. The staff is awesome, friendly & very helpful. Most machines are available at the time I go, which makes things easier. The facility(including bathroom)is always clean which is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you! 👍🏾

I drive truck, and I arranged my trip, specifically to stop at this location, workout and shower. The parking is spacious, and the place looks nice and new. I was excited to try it out, but for some reason they were closed, during their normal biz hours (11pm Monday, Oct 13).

Google and the PF app both said the place was open. It was all lit up with the TVs running and everything, like they were open, but the door was locked. There were no signs, anywhere, saying they were closed, and we were not the only ones confused.

No less than 5 vehicles, containing at least 10 people came to try to work out in the short time we were there.

It is no small thing to plan your trip, and drive the extra miles, anticipating a bathroom, shower and workout, only to find that you now have to figure out a completely different solution for all of those things after 11pm.

This is not excusable, and we were far from the only ones who's evening was completely derailed over this!

The manager gentleman is amazing, best customer service ever. Everything is almost always clean and they clean it right away if it isn't. They have red light therapy machine and a ice/heat bed, which other locations dont have! The gym is actually cleaner with the gentleman manager than it was before and you will even see him doing it himself.

Only things that would make this gym better is a green light machine, sit down bike machines and saunas in the bathrooms/locker rooms also CLASSES. I would pay extra to come to the spa and to classes :)

I will actually drive past other planet fitness gyms to come to this one lol

amazing black card club spa. best one in Richmond (its why I joined). everything is clean and spacious. only big downside is no classes :( .

locker room and restrooms area is the nicest one as well. I wish the vending machine had more nut free snacks but that is just a personal thing lol. I LOVE the red light machine and I actually enjoy the ice beds even though I hate cold lol. I tried the hybrid machine and I am currently a lobster, but il be back for more red light once im not crispy lol.

at some point I want to try the few classes at the colonial heights location but they fill up very quickly and the gym itself is dark and extremely busy. the chester location is light and airy and you don't feel crowded.

Plenty of smith machines and almost too many dumbbells and barbells, which is a good thing! Had no problems getting my leg day in. Only con was the floors in the showers were quite filthy, glad I brought some shower shoes.

Very nice planet fitness but I HAAAATEEEEE HATE HATE that these new locations they have created don’t have fans to circulate the air. It gets so hot and stale when you’re working out, especially during the summer and during peak times when it’s busy. The AC just isn’t enough even when it’s on full blast. I really wish they would install the fans again to help!

Coming here at 5am or later on Monday mornings and finding the place closed is getting old. Hire people that can be at work on time. Are we getting a refund for this poor service??? You say to let the manager know about this yet it continues to happen. This is beyond ridiculous!!! Provide the service I am paying for. You take money out of my account ON TIME so open the doors ON TIME. Why does this keep happening??? I am here on 6/16 and the doors JUST opened @5:55!! Also, thanks for finally fixing the time on the clock that was incorrect since the doors opened. It would be nice to not have the towel dispenser empty or the cleaning fluid empty as well first thing in the morning. I appreciate the convenience of this location and want this to work out for my workouts...

I enjoy the massage chair and hydro massage. 10 minute limit is imo ridiculous. The music is WAY TOO LOUD Everyone has buds; all it does is compete w what ur listening to. A few of the monitors are on FOX the facist entertainment channel. And with the loud music it's just a visual. I come to relax and workout but fins myself cutting my time bc I can't hear my pods, can't massage more than 10 min and forced to face Regime Broadcasting. Seriously just throw a sitcom up.

I transferred to this location because it’s closer to my home. And I like working out there. But the gym is opened late EVERY Monday. The gym is supposed to open at 5am. I got there shortly before 6am and the doors were locked with nobody around. This happens way too often and it’s inconvenient for me to have to leave and drive all the way to another location. DO BETTER!

Great staff.
However...the equipment is different.
As a Truck Driver I visited SEVERAL PF's and every single one had the Stretch Cage!
This one doesn't.
That's a main attraction for me.
Also, The equipment is different (feels different) than the others, namely the leg adductor/ajudacator (or whatever it's called 🤭)...
Greatest Qualm:
a lady walking around the gym with her dog like she's in a dog show; walking the dog through every aisle of equipment...no regard for the patrons who are allergic or may have dog phobia...
She does more walking than actually utilizing the equipment while the poor dog literally looks guilty like he KNOWS he doesn't belong there; she's clearly abusing the privilege of 'support animal'.

I came to the gym Monday at 2:00am and the doors were locked. There was a car in the parking lot so I thought maybe the employee locked the door to go use the restroom or something. I called and the automated recording said they open at 5:00am smh...Though this location isn't a fair drive it was still disappointing to come out for nothing and to be unclear on what their hours actually are.

The staff is always pleasant. The Gym is always clean. The hours are very convenient. I like the space, everything isn't right on top if each other. The only downside I would say is the showers. The cold water is freezing and the hot water stays cold.

I love that PF is so close to my house but I do miss the 30 minute workout station. I miss working out for two minute intervals (red light, green light) and then do the step. Maybe you can find so room in the back where there's plenty of space. Good job in setting up so fast.
