Extremely rude staff. Not sure if it was a manager or employee but one of the workers came up and snatched off a 2.5lb plate off a cable machine a teenager was using while he was mid set, then walked right off. No explanation, no interaction. She later circles back around telling the kid that using the 2.5lb plate he added could “break” the machine. Excuse me? 2.5lb will “break” planet fitnesses thousand dollar equipment? I completely understand kid here! Keep in mind the kid was only using 10-20 POUNDS of the 100lbs the machine has to offer. Could someone explain to me how 2.5lb on a 15lb setting will “break” the machine? She tells him that something similar happened, which is a pointless argument is as she points over to a leg machine where people add anywhere from 25-45lb on top of the full stack. I’d understand if the kid was doing the full stack and adding extra weight, but seriously? 2.5lb on top of 10-20lb? Yeah right.. you have a better chance of breaking the machine by having it at the max setting than adding a 2.5lb plate at 15lbs. Can we use some common sense and think about this scenario really quick? She also explains that he can only use their 5lb weight add on to the machine… until you realize THE MACHINE ONLY GOES UP BY 5 LBS AT THE TIME… completely useless piece of weight on a machine that already goes up by 5lbs at a time. No 2.5lb weight add on’s and only 5lb add on’s… very helpful for a machine that already goes up by that number! And would this 5lb weight AND OR setting the machine to a higher weight not have a higher chance of breaking the machine than that 2.5lb plate? Yes.. adding 5lb or 10lb (from the add on weights they provide) on top of ANY weight setting = safe. Adding negligible 2.5lb plate to the cable machine pin… NOT AT MAX WEIGHT BY THE WAY… = risk of breaking. Make it make sense now. As someone who’s been training for many years.. progressive overloading is the key to building muscle and helping with progression. What gym doesn’t allow progressive overloading? Is this even a gym? Are we not allowed to do weights in between every 5lbs? Cable lateral raises (an exercise that many would say is hard to progress on.. ESPECIALLY by 5lbs) is not jumping up 5lb after every couple of sessions, 2.5 is a good amount to go up by, yet isn’t allowed. I have been doing similar many times here and nothing like this has happened to me. Why? Is it the mere age difference? Is it easier to do this when a younger gym goer is doing it rather than an adult? What “gym” doesn’t allow progressive overloading?” He tries explaining this and she tells him to “figure it out” and “twist” the 5lb weight that they allow. Twisting the solid metal 5lb add on is going to decrease the weight by 2.5lbs? Very rude and unhelpful. Hate seeing this dis motivating behavior to the younger generation of lifters. I wouldn’t even consider this a gym if you are not even allowed to progressive overload on a machine that costs thousands of dollars, on a weight that’s 1/5th of its max. Hope the employees at PF can find some common sense, or introduce a 2.5lb add on on top of their 5lb add on instead of only having the 5lb useless add on that doesn’t correlate with the cable machine at all. And lose the attitude while at it. We want a place to build muscle, not a place to question someone’s common sense. Let’s fix this and make it a better gym.

My review was taken down a third time.
Working under this manager, Kameryn Darrington at the gym was an incredibly frustrating experience. Her leadership style was dismissive and hypocritical, creating a negative atmosphere for employees. She made the work environment unnecessarily stressful.
One of the most demoralizing aspects of her management was the blatant double standard she enforced. She strictly reprimanded staff for using their phones at the front desk—even for quick, work-related checks—yet she openly used her own phone while on shift at the very same station. This inconsistency not only showed a lack of professionalism but also a lack of respect for the employees she was supposed to lead.
Overall, her behavior reflected favoritism, and a disregard for leading by example. Working at the gym could have been a positive experience, but her attitude made it clear that employee morale was not a priority.

They don't clean their tanning beds here. Employees told me I was good to use the tanning bed once the last person left. In Virginia there is a law requiring that tanning salons [not the clients] clean the tanning device after each use. Under Virginia Code § 59.1-310.5 Thats a lawsuit waiting to happen. #monkeypox

The location was decent to other stores I typically frequent. The staff was always friendly and professional.
Manager is friendly and address all the needs of the gym and its equipment even though most equipment is older.
Two reasons for me to cancel my membership. One this gym is not made for people who are serious about fitness and getting a good workout. They don’t have decent free weights, limited on the amount of weight they have for dumbbells and machines. ( That’s on me, unfortunately I’m not their target audience). And the one year I was there. I only had the long alert sound one time..
The second reason and most important to me was regardless of what time I went in. Whether it would be 3 AM 7 AM 11:00 PM or anytime throughout the day on average there were 60 people in this small gym. I’m used to working around people. Unfortunately Planet Fitness is not the type of gem where people know gym etiquette. With this being said, having people sit on their phones or just sitting on equipment, taking selfies or not understanding how to use the equipment. Only extends the workout time that much more.
My overall review for this PF gyms is if you’re trying to find a place where you can just do moderate workouts with no professional guidance. Often times waiting to use equipment and have i’m coordinated people trying to figure out equipment. Then Planet Fitness is probably your ideal gym.
The Burke location is not the only I would attend I traveled through throughout the country and this became apparent at most locations.
Once again, the staff gym equipment were friendly and Well maintained for the age of the equipment.
It’s just not a gym that is designed for dedicated fitness gains.

This PF is in need of a major revamp. The locker rooms and gym equipment all have major wear and tear. Equipment is like hand me down quality that does not meet quality standards at other PF locations. The black spa amenities don’t perform like other PF locations and feel neglected when using. This PF is also small compared to other locations with less equipment (esp resistance machines and spa amenities).

BEWARE.If you go to this gym I suggest you double check you’re not getting charged for an extra membership. I found extra charges and went to discuss with the manager and she could not find my “extra” account. I suspect fraud and they will not help you more than a quick search (she couldn’t find anything). I said who is the franchise owner, she said she doesn’t have access to them, call corporate- there is no corporate number.

The location is great with plenty of parking available, which is always convenient.

Unfortunately, the equipment at this Planet Fitness location is in need of attention. Many machines are rusty, with peeling paint, and some are just not comfortable to use.

Additionally, several of the weights are missing their signs, making it difficult to tell their exact weight. It can be frustrating trying to find the right weight to use. I would highly recommend updating the equipment and ensuring all weights are properly labeled to improve the overall workout experience. A more modern and well-maintained gym would definitely be a better environment for members.

This location has some of the rudest staff I’ve ever encountered—it’s almost unbearable. Every time I asked a simple question, they acted as if I was the bane of their existence, especially the young female manager, who constantly rolled her eyes and responded with passive-aggressive remarks. On top of that, when I tried to purchase a drink, they refused to honor the 50% discount for Black Card members, despite a sign clearly stating that drinks were 50% off. Instead of providing any reasonable explanation, they dismissed me outright. The lack of professionalism and basic customer service here is shocking. Gross. I went at night time and there were two employees there. The African American female did not greet me or welcome me in. She was just staring at her phone and did not acknowledge me. Completely disrespectful. The other employee, a Caucasian male, was coughing extremely hard and sneezing everywhere and was not wearing a mask. It was obviously he was extremely sick, yet WORKING AND SPREADING HIS ILLNESS TO OTHERS IN THE GYM? Why is my treadmill rebooting (stopping) when I'm using it? This is an inconvenience and a safety hazard. I see idle treadmills rebooting after a countdown, but there's no warning if it's in use. This has been occurring for at least a month now. Please don't tell me just to contact the club's staff...I've notified them at least three times...and this review is obviously on their page. What needs to occur is an actual solution. Thanks.

Pros:
Good amount of treadmills for the space. Not too many that it cuts into the weight equipment but not too few.

Good selection of weight machines and free weight space, minus one correction that should be made that I will get to later.

Staff is generally good. My good to bad experience ratio with them is 10:1.

Cons:
Handles coming apart on multiple machines to the point where your grip rotates as the movement is executed.

Multiple ellipticals have been broken for about a month at this point.

Bike to elliptical ratio is bad. During peak hours there are commonly multiple unused bikes while every elliptical is filled.

The correction I would make to the weight machine selection is add another peck deck. Location has one that is always in use. Two would be great for a gym of this size.

I’ve been going to this gym for a while now, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best planet fitness experiences I’ve had. The facility is always clean, the equipment is well-maintained, and there’s a great selection of machines and free weights for all fitness levels. I had to write this review because I was upset because of their lack of cooperation with us. I asked them to cancel my membership from the second month so that I would not have to pay for the third month because I am busy and cannot commit. I wanted them to refund the annual fees, but the manager and employees were not cooperative and completely refused to cooperate and refund my amount. Frankly, I do not recommend dealing with them. Think carefully before subscribing because you will get in trouble with them if you want to cancel. They are a completely unprofessional group and they only seek money. They cancelled my membership today and I will not be able to go for the rest of the month, knowing that I paid the full value of the two months. Frankly, I will tell all my acquaintances not to get involved in dealing with this disappointing club.

Planet Fitness is our local neighborhood gym with all the basic equipment—clean, close by, and open 24/7. Nothing fancy, but it suits us just fine. What really makes it great are the employees. They’re all incredibly welcoming and friendly, always greeting us with happy smiles. PJ, in particular, is awesome—she remembers our routines and is always ready to set up our “spa” routines. Lol she even notices if we've been skipping the gym for days. We’re just trying to stay healthy, you know? After a long workday, we’re a bit lazy and tired, but the fantastic staffs here always brighten our visits with their great attitudes.

I am writing to complain about the poor customer service of your fitness centre in particular the way you treated me and my family, The club manager Kameron Darlington was very immature leader handling my situation. she act like she is running Nuclear facility !! Hi. I went to the 24/7 planet fitness i typically go to the one on backlick road. I am a blackcard member in fact I pay for three other members to use services such as red light, massages, and tanning booth. However, when I went to ask the lady at the front desk at this particular gym if I can use the tanning booth (she was a teenager with blonde hair and rough skin) she immediately asked me if i brought goggles i said no may i please get the stickers. She went ahead and started a big scene said I needed to pay for them and charged me 1 dollar for eye stickers. That is ridiculous as it should be supplied for free. No other planet fitness charges for eye stickers to protect your eyes from their machines. I suggest you re train your employees on the policies because your employer there went above and beyond to make me uncomfortable and get me to spend money unnecessarily when I am just trying to use the services I pay for. Also i will submit a photo to headquarters because the tanning booth was disgusting and insanitary and there was literal rust all over the floor. I had to keep my shoes on to tan. And u want to charge me $1 for disposable eyewear on top of the unsanitary conditions I had to endure. Again, train your staff. I refuse to be upcharged by a thief who has no right enforcing rules that don’t exist. Again I will be contacting headquarters with images of the rust all over the floor and about my experience.

This is not the closest PF to my house but it’s still close enough. Went in today to workout for the first time. Was really surprised with the amount of cardio machines that were not being used and the lack of smith machines, cable machines and benches. We went around 5pm and it was BUSY. Though I know that’s a busy timeframe, there has to be more machines to suit different workout styles. Currently, there’s 3 smith machines that were constantly in use(with a wait). Two cable stations (one side was out of order) that was consistently in use. And one “personal” cable machine. Btw, I’m not concerned about the “constituently in use” it’s the lack of additional cable machines but having 3 of the same isolation machines not being used.

So instead I went to the abs area and that had to be the saddest section of the gym. A few small machines/weights that looked abandoned. It was definitely an afterthought. Actually the entire layout was off. They have the entire cardio section facing the free weights but the machines are squished in a line dividing up the free weights and cardio equipment. There were a few other machines scattered because of lack of space.
Lastly, majority of the other patrons don’t clean their machine after use.

I know PF is a judgment free zone and for the low rate, I guess this is to be expected but I have been to other PFs that have invested in more equipment. I would expect that a PF in this location with so many visitors should still uphold better standards and equipment.

Not a single real barbell. This location is now better maintained. The mens bathroom now has two working soap dispensers. They have added more spray bottles, and the last few times I have been there while busy there were enough spray bottles and paper towels for everyone. I no longer see the manager sitting at the front desk ignoring guests, and front desk staff now greets guests as they enter the gym.

Pésimo Servicio, Los baños son un asco, se ve que nadie limpia nunca ahí, he estado en otros gimnasios que son más limpios, aparte de eso el servicio al cliente es de lo peor, fui con mi esposa a intentar hacer ejercicio a este gym ya que mi home gym está en otra locación, he tenido la membresía de planet fitness por más de 2 años y es la primera vez que no hemos podido hacer ejercicio porque los trabajadores de este gym en específico nos dijeron que no podíamos tener nuestras mochilas con nosotros, que estúpido ni siquiera ponemos nuestras mochilas del gym en otras máquinas, ni en el camino de nadie más, siempre las mantenemos a nuestro lado intentando que a nadie más les hagan estorbo, porque ahí tenemos nuestras fajas y accesorios para trabajar en el gym, son mochilas pequeñas que ni siquiera ocupan espacio, y les explicamos pero parece que no les importo eso, y nos dijeron que no podíamos tener nuestras mochilas con nuestras pertenencias con nosotros, a mi esposa ya se le han perdido sus pertenencias de su locker aún teniéndolo con candado y nadie se ha hecho responsable de eso, cuando a ella se le perdieron lo único que dijeron fue que no tenían cámaras en los lockers y que no podían hacer nada, es bien estúpido que te exijan no tener tus pertenencias contigo, y cuando se pierden tampoco se hagan cargo de nada. Si están pensando ir a este gym la verdad no se los recomiendo, vayan a otra locación pero está locación de West Springfield definitivamente no se los recomiendo

It would be nice if the front desk's service changed. Disrespectful and judgmental. Trying to sign up but needing help. As you can see, there is nothing they can do. All I need to do is go to my phone. It's their job to help if I need Help or have a question. Make fun of me by text messaging each other. It was a terrible and disgusting look to me and my daughter. Not interested to help at all. Zero service. I asked them to help me and explain to me I had question. And also I informed them. I’ll signed up here just incase if I need help. Terrible terrible. I felt disappointed and discriminated by this young kids act and treat. They needs more training h instead standing and feel better then others. The Spanish kid at front desk was with proud gave me the card to go head complain. Like who cares no one will do anything. He should be ashamed.

PF in Springfield VA Old Keene Mill has been a great experience, no testosterone loaded staff condescending to you like Golds or Onelife, every staff member has been supportive, and responsive and friendly without judgement, Cameron, manager and I likely have the spelling wrong, is fantastic! She went to a lot of trouble to get my membership moved from the Sterling location who, being a different franchise did not want to assist her. Love PF and will be there for a long time

I sit on the row machine as I write this review. I moved from the other row machine because the digital display wasn't working. The second machine has the same issue. The tricep push-down machine has been missing the necessary hand grip since at least Nov 27. I have many pictures of broken machines. Paper towel holders are often empty. We travel appropriately 4 months per year, so my wife had a Black membership which we used regularly all over the country. Rarely, did we find a worse Planet Fitness, which really stinks since this is the closest one to our house.

Showers are not maintained: no soap in 3 out of 4, broken faucets, and water turned cold one time while I was washing my head. Some dumbbell racks have no weight label, making them disorganized and difficult to find a particular weight.
Reason for 2 stars: some equipments like leg press were new, and the gym was not busy (likely because it was a Saturday night though).

Walked in the gym looking for assistance as I am new to the area. All the staff members huddled up talking to each other like I wasn’t even standing there. Stood there for almost 8 mins and no one greeted me or ask if I needed any help. This is ridiculous!

If zero stars were an option..

- Card scanner / computer for massage chairs has never been functional in my 10 months as a black card member
- Some mornings, there is no employee around so you have no way to initiate a massage chair. The employees slip off to the back tanning rooms and close the door or they try to hide below the front desk so you can't see them.
- People sleep in the massage chairs and front desk employees won't wake them up to ask them to move, so even if you can get one turned on you won't be able to use it
- brand new cardio machines were delivered less than a month ago, 5 of them are already broken and have "sorry for the inconvenience" signs on them.

P.S. I was able to walk around and take those pictures within 30 seconds of each other while writing this review. It is like this every day.

Terribly up kept facility extremely outdated equipment. Every time something breaks. It takes them about six months to fix. They had an out of service sign on a paper towel dispenser for over five months now. They’re more focused on updating the cardio machines than anything else I’ve been to so many other locations that have up-to-date state of the art equipment this facility Does not have that at all. They don’t even have a leg press. The staff at least some of them are extremely immature and rip each other shirts off while members are working out. If you have the option to go to another facility highly recommend it.

Smallest PF i’ve been to. All the machines are in use and it’s only midday, cant imagine how it looks at 4-8, sounds like a nightmare. Some of the machines are RUSTY and missing parts. I don’t know how long they’ve been there, but they need to upgrade. Also the workers are rude. I was leaving and I saw the black guy working the front desk staring at me so I assumed he was going go say bye or something and nope. Just kept staring like a weirdo until my back was turned and out the door. Tell your employees if theyre not going to say anything, do not NOT STARE at people. I don’t care if they don’t greet or say bye, but it’s weird to just stare. Save your time go somewhere bigger and newer

I noticed the routine bathroom checks being carried out. However it seems like the only requirement of doing that is to simply walk in..and walk out.

This has not been dusted in months or maybe I’m just crazy, because all the comments says it is a clean facility…

I would post the molded shower curtains, but simply too graphic.

It seems to be simply a nice tax tool for the franchise owner, because there is no way he/she have 1 ounce of care about this location.

The best PF I've been to in a long time! Nearly spotless at all times, even for such a massive gym. Lots of equipment, seemingly new as well. A ton of space for people to enjoy themselves and be comfortable. Wonderful and attentive staff.

This is technically the PF closest to my home, but I find myself going regularly to the one on Telegraph or the one on Backlick Rd because they are cleaner and machines are always available. I also find that this location never has hot water in the showers and most of the showers are dirty. I worked out at this PF today and literally every other treadmill was out of order and the shower water was freezing. Unfortunately, I guess I will have to keep avoiding this location despite its convenience. One star for location and one for the friendly staff.

Equipment is constantly broken and takes an extremely long time to fix. I’d say 20+ machines are broken right now, including one that they has bubble wrap of some sort to use as handles instead of replacing the padding. What??? Clearly states that belongings are to be put in lockers, yet people are bringing their entire life with multiple bags with them throughout the gym (ex free weights, cable machines). Frequently out of paper towels and cleansing spray at stations in the morning. Staff in the AMs say hello some of the time. Not the worst planet fitness I’ve been too, and definitely not the best.

Let me begin with….the people who go to this PF are amazingly polite and keep to themselves. The management of the facility has gone way down hill over the years. Machines broken constantly and for extended periods, paper towel dispensers out of service, and no antibacterial sprays without walking half the floor to use. People just stop wiping under those conditions YUCK! And it’s been weeks since there was any hand sanitizer available; post Covid this is unacceptable. In a pinch, WALGREENS is steps away! Sure there are staff shortages and an abundance of excuses, but this location is not managed well. I put in at least six calls to the manager and also emailed (about my account not these problems) and she never replied. I’ll keep going though because it’s convenient and cheap, but if you have a choice, avoid this one.
