i work out in the mornings here only for the front desk to NEVER be at the front desk. when they are they dont turn my tanning bed on and i have to call or turn it on myself. i'm christian and the music they play here isn't something family friendly. the staff member in the morning with his womanly voice also makes me uncomfortable. i have to have my husband with me because i don't know what he will do. they should really consider who they hire.

I travel full-time and have visited over 100 Planet Fitness locations but this is my home gym. It is average or slightly below average in terms of floor space, equipment, and overall cleanliness/order.

Recently they seem to be understaffed. I have come three or four days per week over the last month and multiple times have been unable to purchase a drink on the way out or connect with staff if needed. It’s also a bummer that they are no longer 24 /7

Overall we've been very happy with our membership; we usually go in the morning and it's not too crowded and most of the equipment is available immediately. The facility is always clean and the staff is pleasant and helpful. A couple of minor notes - there is some equipment that has needed maintenance/replacement for going on three years and despite repeated discussion, nothing is done; additionally, there are subscription services that should be active that have expired and not been renewed even after multiple requests that they be. Minor quibbles, but they prevent it from being a full 5-star review.
FOLLOWUP: Planet Fitness asked me to email them about my issues, which I did - and they have not responded at all, even after followup emails.

My wife and I went in to get a massage this morning and Matt was working at the desk but was cleaning when we walked in. He stopped immediately to greet us with a very pleasant attitude. Rarely i write any reviews bad or good , unless is really a earned one with a great service or a really bad service. Unfortunately, for this one it has to be a bad one , and really earned. Since planet fitness became known to me several years now. I became a client right away, because if it's 24 hrs availability, great variety of equipment and extra perk services and it's size space. So every time I move to a new area I look for a planet fitness to join. I did just that at the winchester location. Unfortunately, the experience was not a good one. Especially when dealing with employees with no business common sense and the company way of automation billing. Now what happened... on Monday July 14, 2025 i joined the gym again with the black card membership...at this time it was a 1 dollar special to joint and 24 dollars a month with a 49 dollars annual membership charged 2 months after the initial jointed membership date...anyhow, lord and behold the 1st payment of 24 dollars is not suppose to be charged till August 18 , but the gym went ahead to charge the 1st payment 3 days from initial membership date already. Needless to my I was not happy. I called the gym. a guy answering the phone instead of finding a solution decided to argue and and act as the one with power and control and as he said it..." i am not going to argue with you..." and went ahead and hung up the phone. Eventually I spoke with the manager Jimmy. He explained the system automatically charges the payment on the 17 every month and since the initial membership happened on the 14 the computer charged the payment not able to differentiate a new customer from a regular one....so, the manager Jimmy offered to fix the issue and even told me not to worry about August and September payments that a credit would be put into the account to make up for the inconvenience. I said OK thanks I will not cancel the membership... well very next morning I go to the gym but the payment issue still showes on the account and the young employee mr alex and lowest of lowest just 3 months working and no idea on who is the next level management decided I couldn't use the gym despite had explained everything and him verifying it was actually a 5 days new membership and that the billing was an error and by the way that there was no motations on the account from tja manger Jimmy...well I went ahead and canceled the membership. I will not come back and will not recommend the gym winchester location to anyone...for lack of good customer services and common business sense. If I were either one of the 2 employees on the 1st case I would had apologized to the customer nad explained the issue and give my superior information(my manager) to address and fix the mistake instead of arguing and hanging up on customers...on the 2nd case i would have let the customer use the gym since it clearly can be seen it was a new account and the payment issue was an error...and not loose a brand new customer, specifically a black card one...anyhow I won't recommend to join the gym. You are just a number and $ sign not a customer to be valued and service when the need arrives.

The facility is not bad, fairly clean with friendly staff. But the Winchester location is far to small to accommodate the amount of people who go there. It was always packed to the point I could not get an efficient work-out in. Whether I went before work or after, even weekends. The most frustrating part is the crowd meter always says there is a low amount of people and you show up to a gym where every machine as a person on it. They need to consider upgrading to a bigger facility in Winchester.

I hate giving a negative rating because of one issue, but it is a big issue.

A few months ago I went in person to cancel my membership. I was moving to an area without a Planet Fitness so I had no need to hold onto the membership. They told me I was good to go and my membership had been cancelled. After that I moved across the country. I happened to open my app to check a couple notifications I got, and found out that I’ve still been getting charged since I left. This has added up to $120 with the late fees which is just ridiculous. (I’m not in a contract by the way, I’m on the plan that can cancel anytime).

I figured it was just a mistake and would easily get fixed with a phone call. So I called. They apologized for the issue I was having but told me that I’d have to come in and cancel again in person. I explained to them that I already did this and the employee at the time confirmed my cancellation, and that it was not possible to come in because I had moved. They again told me that there wasn’t anything they can do. I called again a few days later and got the same answers.

So basically I’m being told that my situation now is that until I decide to drag myself back across the country to fix a mistake that an employee made, I am stuck getting charged a membership fee and another late fee each and every month.

This has completely made me want to stay away from all Planet Fitnesses again in the future, especially this one. Which is a shame, because it was otherwise a pretty good gym. But billing issues and employee accountability is a huge issue.

UPDATE: 6/162025

The people on the other end of the email you provided were not helpful at all and they simply told me to contact the manager or write a physical letter. They investigated nothing. I’ve already tried to contact the manager multiple times but they are never available. The staff are not helpful in this situation and just tell me they will pass my message along.

I initially signed up for a membership under a promotion that offered one month free. When I decided to cancel, I was informed by an employee that I needed to visit the gym on the same day to avoid being charged for the next month. I made it a point to go to the gym around 7 PM on that same day, only to encounter significant confusion and unprofessionalism.
Upon arrival, I spoke with an employee named Hana, who was dismissive and informed me that I would still incur charges despite being told otherwise. When I requested to speak with a manager, Alex came to assist me, but his demeanor was angry and unhelpful. He stated that I would still be charged, but could not explain why.
Throughout this process, I felt trapped and frustrated, as the information I received was inconsistent and unclear. After some heated exchanges, Hana eventually processed my cancellation. However, when I requested email confirmation, she assured me it would arrive shortly. After waiting for 30 minutes with no confirmation, I called the gym only to receive a poor response from the employees, including another negative interaction with Alex.
Overall, I was struck by the lack of professionalism and customer service at this location. There were no friendly faces or willingness to help, which made an already stressful situation even worse. I believe that every member deserves a positive and respectful experience.

I have consistently worked out at Planet Fitness since last November 2023. 146 logged workouts later, and it is by far one of the best decisions for my health I could have made. It has greatly assisted my cardiac rehab, and overall improved sense of self.
I appreciate the helpful staff, their polite demeanor, and their willingness to help. One of them shared the benefits of the Black Card early on. After less than a month of working out, I upgraded. My travels and job have allowed me to workout in West Virginia, multiple locations in Maryland, and other gyms in VA as I traveled for my summer coaching job. I love being able to plan my free time around how close a Planet Fitness location is to where I'll be. The amenities are great, and the massages are the perfect icing on the cake after a tough workout.

Kind of a small PF. I've been to many different PF throughout the country, this is definitely the smallest one. The machines are older, and the free weights are very limited (up to 60lb). There are only 3 smith machines, so waiting for one to free up is usually a 15 min wait.

UPDATE: This PF has been updated so it has all new machines and the 30 min workout area was replaced with a multi function area with bands, free weights, and a tower. It is a nice and needed change. The smith machines were also replaced but with straight line smiths instead of angled. It still only has 3 so the wait time isn't the greatest at peak hours.

I've been a member of Planet Fitness since September 2021 and have always had a positive experience whenever I work out at this location.

The facility has always been well-maintained, and recently, they upgraded the equipment and machines! The updated machines are more comfortable, track and time your reps, and offer more adjustable weight options.

The atmosphere is very upbeat. From the time I joined this gym until now the Staff have always been very welcoming, kind, and supportive. The Members at this Gym are also very friendly and laid back.

This gym is great for anyone who wants to work out, take care of themselves, and achieve their fitness goals.

Absolutely the worst gym that I have ever been to in terms of dealing with the staff. I tried to freeze my membership as I had to move away and couldn't cancel over the phone. I then canceled my membership when I moved back and was then later charged an annual fee on my account. I tried to talk to the employees who even stated that it was highly irregular for an account to be frozen for this long and that there must have been some sort of miscommunication among the staff. I then talked to a manager who did not even attempt to listen to my side or take into consideration that his employees made a mistake and said that I was the one who made the mistake and refused to refund my money. I would highly recommend going down the road to one-life who has a much better and friendlier staff who care for their customers.

Signing up online is so easy. Once you sign up, just download the planet fitness app and use the app when you check in at the front desk. At this location they do not have the Total Body Enhancement machine. They have the massage chairs, hydro massage beds and tanning beds. I think getting the black card is worth it. The staff is helpful. I was impressed that there were so pretty muscular guys there, serving as proof that it is possible to get swole at planet fitness. The facility is clean and well organized. On the app is a function that let's you know how busy the gym is. Plenty of parking. There is a bicycle rack nearby. I joined on June 9, 2024.

On par with other planet fitness gyms I've been to. It can get very busy between 5-7pm but as long as you're not using the free weights there is still plenty of equipment available.

The staff is great and always ready to answer any questions while not being too pushy. They have a lot of classes available that meet most people's goals and the way they are scheduled make it easy to get in. For the price, there's nothing better.

If you're looking for benching, squat racks, deadlifts etc. it may not be your cup of tea. The free weights only go up to 60 lbs and my goal this year was 100 so I may find another gym specifically for that purpose. Otherwise it's a nice clean facility in a very busy part of town so keep that in mind.

I love Planet Fitness. My workouts 7 and half months ago were far more intense than they are now due to a L1 backbone break but I waited 3 months and got back on the treadmill. I had become a complete blob-- no musclles especially the core which is vital to a strong back. I started slowly and increased in time to my cardio speed/incline. At 6 mos I implemented a couple ab machines. And now I have 5 more circuit machines on light weights and 3/15s I have a long road to go but PF has everything I need to suceed...and no one seems to care that I wear a major backbrace.. I am grateful to work out safely rebuilding my body. I don't have the membership that allows me a complimentary session with trainer. But I watch the qr you tubes. Planet Fitness is great it's always clean and you can find a machine while waiting for the one you want usually.

I used to go to this gym about 4-5 years ago and there was a lot more room to just grab dumbbells or kettle bells and workout in a corner or in front of the mirror NOW it is just too crowded with the amount of people that are there all the time. You usually have to wait for machines and are basically forced to workout on the machines. I think this gym needs to expand or take out equipment that is hardly used. The way these memberships are cheaper than most gyms you’d think they would’ve picked a bigger space - the place next door should’ve been an option!

This is the worst PF I’ve ever visited on my business travels. They have limited equipment and racks. I find it disappointing that in a few months or sooner you all at PF corporate will hit me and others for a yearly fee that should be used to get this place more equipment or relocate it. Also folks who actually go there to work out spend a large amount of time on their phones while those of us actually came to work out. I was a member of this gym he past 5 years and have since moved on to a new gym. This gym had fallen off a cliff. The men's locker room is so small that it resembles a bath house in the 70s. At least one urinal and toilet is always down. Most days, the papertowels are empty. Being a black card member isn't worth it at this gym. As the tanning beds are weak and a lot of the bulbs are out in all the beds, there is always trash all over the floor. When equipment breaks on the floor, it's down for weeks at a time. I would have given this zero stars if I had the option. And no need saying anything to management as they give you attitude when you bring anything up. I've been to PF in FL and WV, and this has to be the worst of them all. Don't waste your money here and join another gym in the area.

Edited 2024 - been a member since 2017 and since new ownership took over it's gone downhill. Equipment usually takes a while to be repaired, especially weight machines. Cheap paper towels have me using 5x more what I would if they were the thicker quality ones that were available years ago. They also cancelled the 99/year option, even for those of us that grandfathered. I wish they kept a prepaid option, even if they had increased the price, because I know very well how tricky gyms can be cancelling a membership and continuing to charge one's account. I've already signed up with a second gym but may cancel my membership at PF altogether.

I decided to get a gym membership because I work during the week.I have nothing to do on the weekends.I used do security work and miss working out.been along time.I remember my x who is a police officer saying it was a great gym.it is definitely is a great place.

I have recently done a review of the club. I was contacted within hours by the manager with information that addressed all my concerns. I come here to use the Black Card Spa service. Which includes unlimited Tanning beds standing and lay down, a massage chair and a hydro bed! You can also work out if you want ALL INCLUDED! Emilie always is friendly and informed me of this BLACK CARD SPECIAL!

When I walked in Thomas greeted me and shown me what Planet Fitness was all about. He was really great and helping everyone else clean the gym as well. Overall, this gym is clean, well organized, and the staff is professional!
