This planet fitness in Woodbridge is a 9/10. Staff is super friendly and welcoming, the members are chill, the facility is clean. The only reason why I hit it with a 9/10 is due to the fact that the back tends to be a bit dirty and machines keep going out of service. But for the most part it’s nice. Would recommend :)

Me and my boyfriend made a membership amd the first time we went there we got kicked out for wearing crocs????😭😂 wdf I ALWAYS wear crocs to the gym never had this issue and the team member was just nasty and conniving when she kicked us out and that was our first time there that’s the tone and we just canceled our membership! OMG I just saw another review talking about the lady that always stands at the door, she was literally the one who said we had to go and before we stopped, and she was already kicking people out. She has a nasty attitude.

What I really like about my Planet Fitness experience is the welcoming and non-judgmental atmosphere. The gym is always clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, and I appreciate the wide variety of equipment available. Planet Fitness is a friendly, all levels of fitness gym. I enjoy working out there because I never feel I'm competing with a lot of muscular body builders or beauty contestants. There are people from all walks of life. It accommodates everything I need to get healthier. I have two issues: One, exercisers who sit on a machine reading their email instead of doing a set. Gym participants should be counseled that exercising on a machine means not "hogging" it by socializing with others or reading emails on their phone. Most people are considerate but there are a few who should be reminded of the purpose of using a machine. Two, changing the layout of the gym equipment. I was accustomed to the layout when I started but last week equipment was moved around. I don't know if this was to "group" equipment and/or improve the flow of exercising, but I found it confusing and I had to change my "flow".
These issues are minor- I enjoy coming to Planet Fitness and I always have a good workout.

Last year I did not go to gym and my acoount was deactivated by itself which makes sense and I had to pay the activation fee to renew it, this year I did not go to gym and it renewed by itself and I had to pay late fee and cancel my membership. Now the question is how this is possible that a membership can be activated or deactivated without any consent. And how they apply late fee and monthly fee on membership that is renewed annually. Also i received the first and only email notification after four months when lots of late fee already applied. When i asked the front desk they told me that I needed to check my app notifications, but everyone knows that payment related issues should be notified via email or phone, not everyone is checking the broken application all the time. So money oriented business. Sorry cannot give you zero star so please accept this one star.

Update 7/25/25: updated from 3⭐️ to 5⭐️. all of the renovations are completed. The gym looks great, the staff are friendly and helpful, black card benefits anre up-to-date with state of the anrt equipment, all of the equipment & machines are functional! This is a great facility and is well managed.

Staff is nice/friendly in general and greets when coming in or leaving. The African American young lady (don’t know her name) works HARD cleaning, and refreshing the gym kuddos to her! Generally clean.

BUT They have been under construction for months which is affecting parking and equipment availability. Recently construction has been very loud and uncomfortable. The black card amenities are unavailable and have been for months. $40 fee to downgrade to classic since black card services are not working. 2025 makes 5 yrs membership…but lack of black card services & silly downgrade fee is not right. If you join, a classic plan is best.

I loved going here, but I wanted to save money so I no longer wanted to be charged for services I didn't use anymore. When I cancelled my membership last month on May 16th, 2025, I owed them $0. They sent me a confirmation email saying my cancellation was successful. Yet, they keep charging me and it's July now. You are allowed to cancel online, so going in person isn't a legal requirement, but this is ridiculous. I'm going to call my bank to block all future charges. Better off working out at home or using the apartment complex gym. You can use milk jugs or your toddler at home as a weight for strength training lol.

Great gym experience overall!
One of the things I really appreciate about this gym is that people mind their own business, so you can focus on your workout without feeling judged. The facilities are nice and most of the machines are in good working condition—there are just a few out of service, but I’m hopeful they’ll be fixed soon.

The staff is always friendly and engaging, which adds to the positive atmosphere. I also feel safe leaving my belongings in the locker room, as the facility seems secure.

The membership price is definitely a plus, and being able to bring a friend with the Black Card membership is amazing. Honestly, that benefit alone makes the Black Card worth it. On top of that, you get access to any other Planet Fitness location and other great perks.

What I love most are the hours—they either stay open late or are open 24 hours on most days, which works perfectly for my late-night workout schedule.

I’ve been a member of Planet Fitness for a while now, and I have to say, the recent remodel is fantastic! The upgraded facility looks great: modern, clean, and much more spacious. The new layout makes it easier to move around, and the updated equipment is a huge plus.

Everything feels fresh and well thought out, from the improved locker rooms to the expanded workout areas. It’s clear that Planet Fitness listened to feedback and invested in creating a better experience for members.

I visited the Woodbridge Planet Fitness location this morning (Saturday, August 13, 2022). I was greeted by the Lead Night Manager (Zena) as I entered. She is SO welcoming and even though it was 4:15am, her positive energy (and the great music) gave me the initiative I needed to get my workout done! Each time I have visited during her shift, she is ALWAYS cleaning or doing something to enhance the conditions of the gym. When someone enjoys their job, it is displayed by their pride and positive attitude! Which is demonstrated by Zena daily. Zena is an ASSET to Planet Fitness! She should be considered for whatever higher managerial positions available!

I would not recommend going to any planet fitness if you’re lifting to lose weight. Gym is fine, just for a place that prides itself on not judging others they certainly do pick and choose what not to judge on, they have an alarm on the wall with some made up term to call people out for grunting, dropping weights and judging. Kinda judgmental in itself to set off an alarm for someone grunting to loud while working out it’s a gym. 90 percent of people have headphones in, but heaven forbid you make noise in this gym they’ll embarrass you for grunting on your last set, kind of the opposite of the whole this is a non judgmental place. Honestly most judgmental gym I’ve been to. Your new slogan should be we sound alarms when fat people work out and make to much noise.

Edit: So their reply is basically we embarrass people so some hypothetical person doesn’t feel threatened by someone lifting weights at a gym? I’m lifting and believe it or not when you are pushing yourself to lose weight on the last set sometimes you grunt through the pain. Shouldn’t be put on blast because I’m pushing myself during a workout. Grunts of pain when working out are normal, want to make them feel safe explain to them that people grunt when they work out. That’s life. It’s a gym.

Edit part 2: Also if they don’t like your attitude when you tell them to not touch your stuff when they randomly try to grab it without talking to you first they have another employee come and treat you like a child telling you to stop running and pick up the jacket now and if you give them any attitude while doing it they will kick you out. Beyond rude and immature staff. Felt like I was in high school again. I found out my aunt is dying the day before so I wasn’t in the best of moods but i am a paying customer there and shouldn’t be treated like that just because I have a little attitude which was met with extreme hostility even though they were the ones who started the engagement off wrong by trying to just grab my items without my permission. Long story short most of the staff I have had 0 problems with over the course of a year, however past 2 months while they have had construction going on they started hassling me, even though plenty of other people break the “rule” they were forcing me to follow and even kicked me out after I had already picked up the item and tied it around my waist.

OK update, March 2025. Yesterday I spoke to the girl working the front desk. I mentioned that it was annoying to be on the treadmill with the person next to me blasting their music out of their phone. She said, "I'm not doing anything about that,." I suggested headphones and she responded, "Maybe they can't afford headphones. Ever think of that?" Then she said "What else?"

I mentioned the dumbbells and other weights are all over the gym. She replied, "People don't put their stuff back. That's not my fault." Then she said, "Maybe you should go to the Lorton Planet Fitness."

You can't make this stuff up.... 8 years of loyalty doesn't even buy you a respectful conversation with the staff.

February 2025: Where to start. I've been a Planet Fitness Black Card member for many years. I travel a lot so I get to see PF's everywhere. This one has all of the equipment you need for a great workout. That's where the good ends.

Every day, without fail there are at least one or two people blasting their own music from their phones, while the house music is playing. Literally anytime you walk into the gym there are dumbbells and/or weight bars left in random places. People are talking on their phones everywhere in the gym. The staff, while really friendly, do nothing to fix any of these issues.

Now the gym is under construction and has been for months and will be for months. The Black Card is useless as none of the massage chairs, tanning beds, etc. and usable which may amount for 8-9 months or more by the time the construction is finished.

Top it off now with this... there has been no heat in the building for weeks, just inadequate space heaters. I'm being kind giving this place 3 stars.

PF Woodbridge needs a good prayer upon it and ceremonial sage filled within it. Older black lady has no etiquette and the gun itself is just poorly run and maintained. Pros - it's clean, staff were friendly, large bathroom with clean showers and locker room, plenty of equipment.
Now to the cons: parking is tight we got here mid afternoon and there was like one spot because this is in a strip mall. I can imagine how bad it must be during prime gym times . They are doing construction so there is no black card area during this remodel.
I got on the sliding ab machine and when I tell you that thing needs some wd-40! It was metal scraping metal the whole way up and down. Absolute nonsense.
Lastly I almost busted my ass walking in since you don't realize it's slanted down, like put some yellow tape or something so you can plan accordingly. If this was my local gym I would have to find a new one.

After an intense workout, my hands were a bit shaky and I dropped my small ear bud down the stairmaster stairs. One of the workers noticed and went to get her colleague, Noelle. I stated that I would just take a loss and that they didn’t have to look for it. Noelle was so positive and determined to find this for me. After taking apart this machine, she found my earbud. Moderate stock of equipment, needs more of the popular equipment [I.e bench press (4) and pec fly machine (1)]. The reason why I’d give a 2 star review is largely because of the gym atmosphere. The water fountain filter indicator has been turned off (not sure if it’s even replaced regularly so I don’t drink), music is so loud I can hear it clearly though my beats headphones with music playing. Not the worst PF I’ve visited but wouldn’t willingly revisit unless I had to.

On Sunday night (09/01/2024) a planet fitness employee walked around the gym with a handheld siren and started blaring it in peoples faces to get them to leave before 9pm.

For starters, I signed up for planet fitness because it was 24/7. Since thats no longer the case, there’s no point in staying.

Additionally, it is utterly mind boggling to me that a business of such scale would approve of its employees walking around with a handheld siren, blaring it in customers faces, and even threatening to have customers escorted out by the police, just to get them out the door.

Great customer service there planet fitness, hope ya’ll go bankrupt.

Decent gym. Typically crowded. Location shared with other business makes the parking challenging. My biggest complaint is the loud music. Pls Turn it down! Most people like myself have our headphones on and can barely hear them due to the blaring music. Fridays almost feel like a nightclub setting.

Only 4 stars because they are not 24 hours anymore as i used to go at 2 am to avoid any and all traffic both on route 1 and on the machines. Other than that i absolutely love how there is always someone cleaning the machines or maintaining full sanitizing stations. Staff is nice. Parking has improved drastically. Have started going to the old keene mill road location on days i need to go at 2 am and it makes me realize how tidy this specific location is kept !

This is no longer my main gym. Compared to the workers before , sanitizing stations are not as stocked as they should, there are hair balls around the stretching area and groups of people seem to hug the squat machines for hours at a time and have rarely been acknowledged whether i came or left. I understand people move on but even the difference in atmosphere is astounding. This location used to be the zenith of cleanliness at all times i came for a little over 2 years but since 2024 have had to disperse between 2 other locations to compensate. Shame the level of care is not the same but hopefully it gets better in the future

Gym is pretty good. Wish they would fix the ab machine that has been broken for 6+ months. Instead they didn’t put a sign up. Let you figure out it’s broke. Yourself and finally decided to put a sign the machine is not working, but still haven’t fixed it.

Wish they would leave some ropes for the cable machines as you always have to sign in just to use ropes or for a handle.

Switched from the black membership back to basic as black membership massage chairs were so outdated. Massage equipment needs cleaning and updating.

Not the nicest and cleanest planet fitness I been too, but not the worst. Bathrooms could be cleaned better even after the renovation. Smells.

At least it’s not terribly hot like other gyms. AC is pretty decent.

I would give them no stars if I could. The gym is always dirty, staff is not helpful and they make it almost impossible to cancel. I currently am injured and cannot drive and was told if I do not come in or drive to the post office to send a certified letter I can not cancel my account. Deborah is extremely rude and not helpful at all

For a couple of years I had a descent experience with PF Woodbridge on Route 1. I paid the full year membership.
Unfortunately, when the COVID-19 pandemic occurred, the screw me. The gym was closed for approx. 2 years and they reopened, they kept my money. They also made my life difficult to cancel my membership. I moved out of state. To cancel my membership I had to go in person to the same gym.

Years later, I considered going back to this one in Lake Ridge. I requested information about their rules or policy about people filming while working out. We all have seen thousands of female influencers posting stuff online and as attention seekers, they label men as predators or creep if one of us glances at them. They never responded to this inquiry. So I assumed they have no policy about it, neither are willing to openly talk about it.

I joined Active Fit and attempted to use facility in Woodbridge, the young man was processing my information and wanted to take my bank information, I stated I paid active fit and did not feel comfortable giving my bank information, he said don’t worry they won’t charge me, i replied I am never comfortable giving out my bank. Information especially when I know I already paid active fit. He stated he could not move forward, and did not give any more explanation. I checked my agreement with Activefit that I may have to fill out a no cost membership agreement, but I was not aware I had to submit my bank info.. the young man had an “oh well” attitude and I left. More detailed info about the no cost membership agreement would have been nice, especially when he had to call someone to figure out how to enter my type of membership. Will try later when a manger is on site
