LOVE this studio and the instructors. The vibes are great and the energy is amazing. The studio is always super clean and you can tell it’s run and managed very well. Everyone is happy to be there in such a great space. I’ve been to a lot of PB studios and this definitely out shines others. ! I think the manager is named Paige and she is really helpful and you can tell passionate about the studio. She’s also my favorite instructor I am always sore afterwards and her music is my favorite

I started going here because I was coming off of an ankle injury and figured barre would be a good low impact workout that would also help improve my balance so I would lessen the chances of future ankle injuries. I never expected that signing up would lead to me consistently working out for the first time in my life but here I am 6 months later! While I am nowhere near hitting all my fitness goals I have noticed a big improvement in my balance and I notice that I am getting a little better in my form each time I go. The instructors are patient, helpful, and encouraging even though I’m not the most athletic person out there. I like that the classes are always challenging no matter how many you’ve attended and that there is a repetitive format so I somewhat know what to expect. Parking is also very easy which is a huge plus for me. The only con I can think of is that the lobby is a little small and classes are pretty crowded on the weekends so it can get a little chaotic at times but l’m happy to deal with it because the location is great. I never thought I’d be a 6 am workout class person but it is slowly becoming my favorite way to start my morning (pro tip: Starbucks is next door if you need help waking up!)

The classes are great and well developed especially if you want to built strength of your muscles. The people that own and some instructors specifically Jess. She is rude pushy and disrespectful. I wanted to move to Clarendon pure barre because Alexandria classes were all the time full plus the attitude of certain ppl there was too much. I was willing to cancel the membership from that reason spoke with manager and still was charged the fee plus of course Jess is responding to further massages. She called me multiple times even though I was in contact with someone else she was still trying to be controlling including her voice mail (“ I’m calling again...”) well I work in hospital and I have busy schedule so I didn’t feel like speaking with her at 1pm since I already set up phone call with someone else. I’m still trying to straight stuff up with them. But if you want to have good time and enjoy the class just don’t take Jess as instructor.

I took a foundation class and it was actually pretty challenging in a good way! I definitely recommend Jess, she made sure I knew what I was doing even when I wasn’t but definitely didn’t make the work out easy. One of the best things about it was probably the fact that I didn’t feel left behind in terms of the exercise I was preformingA!

Barre itself is an excellent workout - I’m in pretty good shape, and this challenges me every time. I would definitely recommend barre as an addition to your workout routine, or if you don’t currently have a fitness routine.
Now about Pure Barre, Alexandria - Love the layout of the studio...parking is never an issue. So far I’ve only taken classes with Alyson, she’s an amazing trainer, very thorough.

I started going here as the location is so convenient for me, but I had no idea what to expect other than I wanted something to crosstrain with my running. Something that would work my core (since I hate working core and need someone to force me to do it). Well this was definitely the right answer! I love it here, and having just finished the beginner 2 weeks just signed up for the beginner month. I love all the teachers and attendees -- everyone is so happy and positive!

I have been to Pure Barre been 5 times so far and have really enjoyed the experience. Jennifer, Molly and Lauryn particuarly stand out as instructors. This is my first expierence with barre, and I will say there is quite a learning curve - they say 3 classes typically until you get the hang of it - but I really think it’s more like 5-10. However, I’m not distressed that I can’t do everything 100% yet, and am really enjoying the classes each time.

I have absolutely loved every second of my pure barre experience. I was hesitant to try pure barre, but everyone was so inviting. The workouts are tough but satisfying and I can already feel myself getting stronger. The teachers are also great! They really take the time to help perfect your moves and stretches, and get to know you personally. This is a workout I look forward to going to every class. Highly suggested !!

Amazing workouts! Great instructors! Highly recommend to anyone! I get a better workout and burn more muscle in 50 minutes here than I would in a five mile run. And if you do run, your core and posture is improved with pure barre, so it’s been a great cross trainer workout too.

The first few classes were very confusing and it was hard to keep up. The instructors try to keep an eye out for anyone having trouble, but its hard when its a full class. If you show up early or stay after class they are great about answering questions or working with you on modified movements. By my 4-5th class I got the hang of it. You aren't sweating buckets, but you definitely still get a work out. I'm usually sore all over the day after class and i love that bc I know its working! I'd suggest it to anyone looking to tone up, and especially if you have issues with high impact (jumping etc) type of fitness classes.

I didn't know what to expect about Pure Barre. After my fifth class, I can say that Pure Barre is a great workout! The classes are challenging -very challenging- but the teachers are encouraging and helpful pushing you to come back. It will take some classes to get the movements and rhythm down. Yet, you will start noticing improvements with time. I haven't been attending Pure Barre for long, but l can say that after five classes, I have discovered muscles I didn't know I have.

From the second I walked in here, I loved it. It was first time at this studio and the teacher walked me through everything I needed, what I would be using it for, and how she would be going through the movements. I think Pure Barre gets a reputation for being intense (in a positive and negative way), from both a clientele and instructor side, but I never got a sense of attitude here. Everyone was friendly and the class was fun and challenging.

My overall experience with Pure Barre exercise is probably a 3/3.5 at best; however, the instructor, staff, and location are definitely a 4. Lately, I'm been trying to explore different forms of exercise and barre has exploded in the last couple of years. Just like yoga and pilates did years ago, barre has introduced people to a form of exercise that can help you achieve a strong, sculpted body. And just like yoga and pilates, barre has a huge loyal fan base even in the celebrity world. So of course, everyone and their mother, sister, and coworker flocked to barre and whether it's big fitness studios like Pure Barre or smaller boutiques, barre has dominated.
So I thought, "If you can't beat them, join them." And I did. I bought my first class for $15. But then a week later, Gilt City offered a promotion package for unlimited two weeks of classes at half the cost. I bought that package as well. Now, I should have read the fine print more carefully because I thought the two weeks would be activated when I took my first class. However, it was actually activated the day it was applied to my account. Therefore, it was activated prior to my trip abroad and I just got back, took one class, and found out the package expires in a few days. Not great. Anyways, that sidebar aside, I took my first class last night and my instructor was Amanda D.
The studio is new and very clean. When you walk in, the reception is immediately to your right, bathrooms to the left, and some cubbies to the left of reception along with a few items for sale like t-shirts and water bottles with the Pure Barre logo. The studio is directly in front, a large open space with mirrors on three sides and barres fixed to the wall. It's carpeted and the studio requires wearing special "grippy" socks. You can purchase these socks at the front desk ($12) if you don't have any of your own.
I arrived about 10 minutes before class started and because I was new, I had to fill out a waiver and Amanda spoke to me and another newcomer before class began. She was friendly and helpful before and throughout class. Everyone around me were regulars so as soon as the music started, they knew what to do. I followed a step behind but the moves weren't too complicated. No less than 5 minutes in, my abs were already starting to get sore. Wow. That's never happened before.
We used weights, balls, and stretch bands. Class is 55 minutes long and includes upper body (using weights), lower body (barre exercises), and floor work (using stretch bands and includes abdominal exercises). Amanda walked around and corrected people's stances throughout class. Even though the movements involved in barre are quite small, the impact they have on my abs, thighs, and everywhere else is significant. I could feel every muscle working even in the smallest rotations made. Less is more never applied more than in this studio.
This barre class combined elements of pilates into the workout. The exercises and moves challenged stability and balance. I can see why people swear by barre exercises to get the ultimate dancer's body. My body ached after class but it was a good kind of ache. If it wasn't for the fact that my two weeks of unlimited classes are more or less gone and I still have zumba classes I need to go to, I would sign up for another barre class or two. Amanda was very helpful and welcoming. I appreciated her helping me out with some of the positions.
If you're in the market for a workout that gives you a slender, strong dancer's body, then I recommend trying Pure Barre. I've heard from regulars that by going 3x a week, they see results pretty fast. It's a good 55-minute workout and this studio is new, clean, and full of great instructors. Sign up early because classes become full fast!
