I used to take hot yoga classes at Reston Yoga before COVID. , and recently decided to come back- I am so glad I did! The studio is clean , welcoming, and the instructors are fantastic. The sessions are a perfect mix of sweating , stretching and feeling refreshed afterwards. It’s been great returning to my practice here!

Phenomenal yoga studio! Full stop. Here are a few reasons why. Reston Yoga offers: 1) Consistently hot temperatures during practices (~105 degrees Fahrenheit); 2) Extraordinary teachers that lovingly challenge, nurture, and TEACH you the beauty of the Bikram yoga method (actually they’re yoga sherpas that impart critical knowledge to guide you during your moving meditation); 3) Committed community of fellow yogis to bond with, learn from, and be inspired by (there are many advanced yogis that practice at this studio and their postures are akin to art); 4) Clean and professionally run facilities and operation; and 5) Sanctuary and space to allow your mind to have quiet and stillness to think, reflect, and be rejuvenated.

I’ve been practicing here for almost 10 years, and I still leave inspired after each practice. You too will see the health benefits accrue, like compounding interest in stocks, if you’re consistent. My sincere hope is to see you on the mat to experience the serenity and healing of 90-minutes, 26 postures (or asanas), including 2 breathing exercises.

Lastly, love yourself and come join a practice. Express an even higher form of love by inviting someone you care about to join you at practice. Namaste.

Reston Hot Yoga is hands down one of my favorite places in Reston. The studio is welcoming the moment you walk in, and the instructors are very supportive—whether it’s your first class or your hundredth, they make you feel comfortable and motivated.

The practice itself is amazing. The hot yoga 26/2 sequence works your whole body, and every class leaves me feeling stronger, more flexible, and a lot less stressed. The space is set up perfectly—warm enough to get a deep stretch but still comfortable.

What sets this place apart, though, is the community. Everyone is so friendly, and there’s a sense of support you don’t always find at other studios.

Since starting here, I’ve noticed big changes in my body and mindset. If you’re even thinking about trying hot yoga, Reston Hot Yoga is the place to go. You’ll be glad you did.

*** Update to their response: Whitehorn is my middle name and my review is from my own experiences and is 200% authentic.

I challenge anyone to take a 7 day pass and you will see how inconsistent the environments are from instructor to instructor.
This is a fact. There is no standard environment.

Maybe look into my review as it’s real feedback or change your name to Reston Warm Yoga and I’ll remove my review sir or ma’am.

People keep going back to their favorite restaurant because the food is consistent.

If this was a restaurant your food usually comes out cold, sometimes warm, once in a while done good.

Maybe fix the inconsistencies in your kitchen, and stop dismissing feedback for improvement.

Bikram-style yoga is suppose to be consistently hard every session. It isn’t in this studio 200%.

***

One word for this place: Inconsistent.

Bikram-style yoga is considered one of the most challenging forms of yoga, mainly due to the heat and duration.

From what I’ve observed, each instructor runs their class differently—so it’s hard to know whether you’ll be practicing in no heat, low heat, or moderate heat.

They definitely don’t offer hot yoga from start to finish here, which makes the experience inconsistent and unpredictable.

I’d recommend checking out studios in Tysons or Centreville for a more consistent Bikram-style practice.

DOWN DOG YOGA in Herndon/Reston is by far 100 times better. Nicer instructors, nicer community. Nicer restrooms.
The restroom and showers at Reston Hot Yoga are disgusting and unsanitary.
Now, onto the review, If you drink water during the practice you get shamed. If you can't handle the heat and want to step out, you get shamed. If you drink all your water and want to refill it during class, you get shamed. Because of this, a person nearly had a heat stroke and when she wanted to step out the instructor ridiculed her so much that the person stayed through the class only to have her sprawled out in the lobby after class looking like she was going to die from a heat stroke. She looked like she was going to pass out. Plus, they have this tape on the floor to mark where to put your mat. The adhesive from the tape has melted on most, and now is permanently stuck to the bottom of my mat no matter how much I clean it. I hate this place, and I've been practicing hot yoga for ten years...

I have been practicing at this studio for years, love the concept, and the benefits I have received from practicing hot yoga, all my illnesses have disappeared. The studio is spotless, always clean. Teachers are excellent and friendly.
The director is wonderful, works hard to make the studio a great place and ensures every student is well taken care.

This “instructor “ literally had the nerves to tell me to follow the moves of my neighbor. Everything wrong with this
1- I pay the class for YOUR instructions not my neighbor
2- Very shaming for yoga PRACTICE (not a competition)
3- People can barely understand her thick accent. So you don’t need to single one person out, telling them to follow a neighbor’s move. That’s what everyone is doing already because they can’t understand you

Best Bikram Yoga in the area! I have been doing Bikram for years and have traveled to many studios around the world. Reston Bikram is a very clean and bright yoga studio. The instructors and Rima, the owner. are top notch. If you haven’t tried Bikram Yoga you must give it a week of your time to experience why I am hooked on the feeling and results 90 minutes of Bikram yoga gives you! Rima also does these amazing yoga retreats to Italy, Portugal, Iceland, and Costa Rica throughout the year to nurture our mind, body, and spirit. I always walk out of Reston Bikram Yoga classes feeling awesome after sweating out those toxins!!

I've been practicing Bikram yoga here for nearly a decade. I've found it to be such a healing practice. I come here to reset mentally, spiritually, and physically. It is a pleasure to practice with instructors who care about the practice, as well as with a close-knit community. Rima, the founder, is incredibly inspiring & nurtures a beautiful healing space. I highly recommend this studio & community if you are looking for a place to practice. And if you haven't tried Bikram yoga, you are in for a treat!

Update on 1/2/2024:

TLDR: Just no.

The response to my review here is just plain wrong. Yes, I took 1 class here but it was enough to be treated poorly and to notice the need for a deep cleaning of this place. It's not just about cleaning the floor for yoga class, but also bathrooms and lobby areas. I didn't even want to put my bag in the cubbies or on the lobby tables/benches.

My comment on the 90 min was misread (probably intentionally). Smh.

And no, I was NOT allowed to leave class the second time (and at this point i was near fainting which is why I needed to exit and get out of their stuffy studio!) The instructor stopped the whole class and rudely asked me to stay on my mat. She didn't let me sit by the door at all even though she promised I could if I needed to before that happened.

Btw, none of that excuses the rude comment she made to me after class in front of another student, all while laughing. Who ridicules someone's fitness level and "performance" at a freaking yoga studio?! I may have given it another try but that was out of line! So much for the Namaste spirit.🙁

I understand an owner wanting to defend their employees but I have zero reason to lie about the experience. The owner's response is just sad. Not to mention antithetical to the spirit of yoga.😑

Try this place as well as other studios in the area and make up your own mind. I genuinely hope new students get better treatment and a different instructor. But even if they had a clean studio with caring instructors, it's still not a well-built studio especially compared to other local ones. For starters, find one with infrared heaters instead of forced air. You'll be happy you did!

Original review:

Really wish I had bothered to read the negative reviews on this studio before coming. There are much nicer and more welcoming studios in the area!

I won't waste my time outlining my full experience because many issues are mentioned in other low reviews. But I will not be returning. I sent a note to the owner/management BEFORE posting this review and sadly that only confirmed that I shouldn't return.

I've done hot yoga for 4 yrs now and had some trauma this year that led to a 3 month break from all exercise. So I'm not a newbie but I also wasn't prepared for the poor treatment I received while trying to get back on my mat. I wasn't allowed to leave the room even while near fainting. So dangerous!

Between the instructor and the management, I've never felt so unwelcome in a yoga studio. Perhaps there was a cultural bias with the instructor. It's always hard to tell for sure with that kinda thing.

The only plus was the other students who were supportive and kind!🙏🏽

Do yourself a favor and keep looking. Other than bad staff, this place is in an odd building, has mediocre facilities, and needs a deep cleaning.

This Sunday was my first class at Reston Yoga, I bought the offer that they have for their 16th anniversary and was the best decision! The place is excellent, so far the best yoga studio that I’ve been, the bathroom and the entire building are clean, the music was beautiful, the humidity of the room, the parking, and of course the instructor (Ping) so kind and calm, 10/10, I’m happy to go back every Sunday to end my week the best way!

Some of my most amazing yoga experience has been at this studio. I worked there for 5 years and was able to be part of a very wonderful yoga community. The studio itself has all you need from wonderful instructor, amazing facility, showers, changing room and easy parking. But beyond all that it is a very wonderful community and people take the time to know you and learn about one another. I highly suggest this studio to anyone that lives in this area or is. passing through. You will not regret it. I always look forward to returning & leading workshops there.

The instructor was absolutely wonderful! She, and the other lady at the front desk were very warm and welcoming. The instructor thoroughly informed me of all necessary details for preparation, practice and afterwards. I am new to Bikram yoga, but have practiced other types of yoga (specifically hor yoga). I really value a kind and welcoming attitude at a new studio I visit.
*The instruction was impeccable. I plan to attend sessions here every time I visit Reston, or the greater D.C. area! I highly recommend Reston Yoga.
Side note - It smelled really good, compared to the other "hot yoga" studios I have where I have practiced, in various cities, states and countries. This studio is truly cream of the crop, and the people made it even better!

My reviews are straight to the point and honest. They are not intended to discourage people from trying new things. Hot yoga is suppose to be great for your body and mind as it increases flexibility and is very relaxing. The only reason I do not love it is because you can sometimes end up in a very smelly class, if the ventilation is not good, or there are too many attendees in there, the class is overcrowded, etc.
****Also if I just want a hot sauna, my local women's gym is only $40 per month and they offer sauna and hot yoga classes as well.***
Like all things in this world, try it once, and check it off your list.
In my opinion, I wish this facility was a little bigger and a little newer. I hope my review helps you decide what may work best before signing a contract for a long term commitment.
+2 This yoga place is conveniently located w/ ample parking. Plus and plus. The teachers are great with helping correct your posture, and answering questions. They have a Groupon deal for people who are curious and do not want to drop $25 per class, you can just commit to a smaller 5 session or 10 session packet on Groupon instead. (Oh although I have found on their website that says you can use their Groupon 1 time per 8 months, they denied this, so beware of the terms and ask first before getting a Groupon to make sure you can use them) But I totally get it, mistakes happens, but they should remove the part that says you can use it once every 8 months. I tried it once a year ago and thought I would do the 10 classes, no, I only went twice as the second time I had a terrible cramp and couldn't move for an hour.
I signed up again to try it once more and it still scares me every time for such a long 90 minute class to be stuck in a hot room at 105-110 or more degrees...
I took away 2 star per dissatisfactions below:
1~Place is small and has only one yoga room. The classes gets really packed and they don't have a limit number per class. I have attended a class with 56 people (It was holiday with only 2 classes available), and in my opinion, it should be 20-30 max because you shouldn't be touching your neighbors when next to them.
2~The one item that bothered me the most was the changing room. There is one bathroom stall sitting in the middle of the changing room, and there are 2 stand up showers. No lockers, one sink, and a couple of wooden benches. When there is a large class and you get 20-30 women ( on average) trying to take showers at the same time and change, this is extremely uncomfortable. Also they could at least put a curtain up where you look in to the women's room so the men walking by cannot see you changing. :(
I did not take a atar away for this but~Another thing i did not like was the inconsistency in teaching and temperature. I was in there about 3 classes and starting to learn when to expect the teacher to drop the temperature down towards the end, so that I can "tough" through when I feel like I am going to give up. Instead, the recent class I went to stayed 113 degrees the entire 90 minutes. Even after the end the teacher never cooled the class down. OH and sadly, no more cold towels at the end of class!!!! :(

I had a discussion with another attendee and she recommended core power so I will give that a try and make a review for them next! "The women's gym of Chantilly is also great - please mention May Ramsey's post if you go there so that they give you a discount!"
****see what your local gym offers first as they may have a better deal and you will save a lot of money! Learn these movements and try them in a hot sauna at your own pace!
>>>In response to the owner, I do love the practice itself and you are right, the business depends on reviews that are honest and straightforward, just as customers depends on the honoring of promotions such as coupons and groupon deals that gets them to walk in to your business. I added a star on to my review because you are responding to all the reviews posted so that shows a lot of effort. I will try the class again and reconsider my ratings. Thk u!

I find the class really challenging but the instructors are great. Eventually you start keeping up and it feels really good. If they offered some lavender scented towels that would be great.

Amazing! I started attending Bikram sessions at Reston Yoga as a newcomer in January 2018 and have loved every moment of it. From the phenomenal instructors and the other wonderful students to the actual space itself, everything is simply hands down an experience beyond reach to measure!

All of the teachers here are great! The environment is very welcoming and easy going. Bikram is still new to me and I never feel like i'm lost while in class, the teachers take the time to break things down and recognize a new student.

It's an amazing and challenging workout! I love that it's low intensity and doesn't leave me feeling sore afterward. I always leave feeling both relaxed and energized—you won't understand until you try it!

Although I have only taken a few classes so far, the instructors I've encountered have been welcoming and supportive.

I love bikram at this studio! The teachers are great. I really like that they have hardwood floors so the studio feels clean. Mat rentals are a little pricey at 4$ so make sure to bring your own.

6 PM candlelight class on Sundays is lovely! Some teachers keep the room a bit hotter than the normal 105 degrees Fahrenheit, which can be a bit tough for beginners, like myself. Overall though, the $14 per class drop-in rate ($25 for non students), is definitely money well spent!

Have enjoyed all of the classes I’ve taken here. All the instructors that I have taken classes with are very welcoming, encouraging and instructional as I was relatively a beginner when I started coming. Will definitely continue coming here. Strongly recommended for beginners or experienced yogis.

Bikram Yoga Reston is an amazing Bikram yoga studio! I have gone for a few weeks now and have really enjoyed the classes and the teachers. There is a great sense of community at the studio, the bathrooms are clean, and everyone is very warm and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this studio to anyone!

My first day at this studio was yesterday. And I went again this morning. Reggie was our instructor and I found that he really focuses on us pushing our selves and our form/posture. Not in a forceful way but in a helpful & gentle way. I saw other post previously that people felt like he was too forceful, but I didn't get that vibe at all from him. He allows us to take water as needed unlike the previous posts. I was happy with the class, his vibe, and his instruction. My class yesterday with Ping was great too, I like that she walks us through each second and is a soothing type of instructor. So far I found numerous things wonderful from both instructors :-)

Excellent instructors! Class schedule is very flexible, so making a class after work is never a problem. For those thinking of starting Bikram Yoga, the Reston studio is the place to do it.

I paid the money for a month but came back too late because of a family tragedy. When I came back late the woman who ran the studio threw me out. Shocked me because several years before I was friend with the owner and had three years of exercise. She gave no reason.

This is a wonderful studio. The music class taught by Yun is particularly phenomenal. It is, without a doubt, one of the best Yoga classes I have taken. Carol is also a phenomenal instructor. This is a lovely gem in Reston. My only request would be more music classes!
