This is a great gym, flat out. The clientelle are a good mix of beginners and seasoned vets. Everybody is supportive and a good sparring partner with control. The coach Nate is the real deal--knowledgable, fun, and will do everything and anything to develop his fighters. I've been a life-ling martial artist and trained in Thailand, and this easily is one of the best crews and gyms I've trained with. Great place for traditional boxing, kickboxing, some grappling, and producing all-around fighters.

Best experience at this gym! The coach is super knowledgeable and tailors the class to the students for each day. Small class sizes mean you get a lot of direct coaching. Great environment for learning and making friends. Be ready to work hard and you’ll get the results you want, whether that’s just learning the fundamentals, getting in shape, or fighting!!

I enjoy the training over here at Smooth Moves Boxing. The head coach over here does a phenomenal job on preparing the fighters to win on their fights. I love the training sessions and the level of detail that the coach goes over in class. I overall pretty happy here and recommend trying the free training session.

I'm fairly new to the gym, but I've found it to be really welcoming and legit. There are fighters who spar almost every day and travel to competitions while others are more casual, and it's totally ok. I've learned a lot more in my month here than I have in half a year of some other boxing classes that focus more on shouting combos to hit on a big heavy bag. We're getting a lot of live practice incorporating a lot of different aspects such as footwork, defense, breathing, stances, combinations, counters along with good conditioning.
I'll also point out the community is super welcoming. In my first day, everyone went out of their way to say hi to me, and I never felt intimidated, even as one of the slower, less experienced members.
Great gym. Great community. Great coach. Would definitely recommend.

Smooth Moves is an outstanding training facility for anyone interested in developing high-level boxing skills. Whether you are a complete beginner or an aspiring professional fighter, this gym offers the perfect environment for growth. Nathan’s expertise extends beyond boxing to include kickboxing, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, making him a highly versatile and knowledgeable coach. Beyond his technical skill, Nathan is approachable, genuine, and deeply invested in helping each student reach their full potential. His passion for teaching and commitment to his athletes set Smooth Moves apart. Without question, this gym deserves a five-star rating.

I go to Smooth Moves every day and have competed out of this gym twice so far. Coach Nathan specifically designs each class to the needs of each student present that day. He provides individual attention to everyone, not just the advanced students.
I can vouch that he took a complete beginner from knowing nothing to fighting in the WKA Kickboxing National tournament finals in just 4 months.
As for the gym members: we all keep up with each other's progress and push each other every day.
Highly recommend dropping in for a trial class!!

I live in Washington DC (where there are lots of good gyms) but make the drive out to Falls Church because of how solid the training atmosphere is. You get personal attention from Coach Nathan, tailored to whatever level of fighter you want to be - up to and including competing. There's some kind of training session available every day, and a huge range of body types in the gym so everyone can get quality experience holding pads for different sorts of people. Sparring also an option for those interested. Great place to train!

If you don't have a lot of experience and want to become a great boxer, or even just want to learn self defense (or kickboxing, BJJ, K1), then I believe this is the place. Even though I was a total beginner, the coach pays extra attention to the details, one step at a time, so I can get the moves right. So I feel like I am growing a lot here. And I think it's not just me. I see a lot of people here from different background, from people who just want to learn to throw a punch to people who want to go pro. And some people have been working with the coach here for years. Seeing the progress of everyone and myself and the inclusivity per se, I really cannot recommend this place enough.

Fantastic boxing gym for men and women of all levels. The coach will give you the workout of a lifetime and will make you into a great fighter. If you want to learn to defend yourself and/or to compete in boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, grappling, or MMA, this place can take you to an elite level. The people who train here are very kind, welcoming, cool, and hardworking. Pretty much everyone there boxes and/or kickboxes and many also grapple, all at fairly high levels. Most importantly, the people here have excellent control while sparring and won't hit harder than you're comfortable with. They are excellent at setting their power to anywhere from zero to 100.

The instructor at Smooth Moves boxing is excellent. Being a smaller woman with little boxing experience I was uncomfortable at first with the idea of a kick boxing class, but the coach made me feel right at home and was very patient, flexible, and easy to understand when it came to explaining the more technical aspects of boxing and kickboxing. In addition, I probably got the best workout of my life during the warmup section. Coach is tough when it comes to the workout section! If you stick with the classes you will see results!

Great classes and hands on training for beginners to seasoned fighters. Excellent mix of cardio and skill building. If you ever wanted to try boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, or dabble in MMA, this is a safe and fun space to train!
