I booked a class here using my membership and travel perk but was told multiple times that I have to pay for the class even though their app allowed me to book the class and it is supposed to be a part of my membership benefit. The studio could be more understanding about this but I was last minute informed that I had to pay for a class when I was already booked and the class should be covered under the unlimited membership. If the app is causing issues and showing classes as “unpaid” when they’re part of my benefit, then they should fix their app instead of putting it on the client to pay more for classes that are already included in my membership. It takes away from the client experience to have to deal with these issues.

Inaccurate door code and unlock door function through the app wouldn’t work either. Seems like an instructor slept through their 6:30 am class….

I really enjoy the workouts, the supportive coaches, and the positive environment. However, everything else needs improvement. The membership perks are poor, and there's little flexibility to reschedule or cancel classes (or should I say there is NO flexibility..?). It's also challenging to reach them ad-hoc as email is the only option. The number of rules and the “if-s” in their policies is insane. Don’t recommend becoming a memeber, as there is no client orientation whatsoever. I will wait until my membership expires, and will continue using ClassPass.

I can’t rave enough about this studio, the workouts, and the coaches. The studio manager has created a positive environment where all feel welcome. This is the most challenging workout you will find and is worth every cent. Coaches Shannon, Alexa, and Abs go out of their way to ensure members have proper and safe form and feel welcome under the blue lights.

Great workout and I have always enjoyed a class here. However there are a couple things to be aware of if you’re considering getting a membership: 1) These people NEVER answer the phone or texts. Holy crap it’s so annoying! Don’t even bother trying because you won’t get a response or even a call/text back. Absolutely zero customer service here. 2) I absolutely hate the zero tolerance policy towards refunds or a class credited back to your account when you either need to reschedule/cancel a class you’ve already booked less than 10 hours before the class start time or if you show up five minutes late. For the amount of money we pay for a membership, there should at least be some leniency, such as only allowing this to occur three times every X amount of times per year. Out of all the exercise memberships I have done, this place is the most strict!

EDIT: Welp. I’m a woman of my word. they replaced all the aging equipment from my prior review, so I’ll give them 5 stars now. The studio is still expensive as hell, but hey… Welcome to Arlington.

I love solidcore - I've been going for years and I genuinely enjoy the instructors here. BUT this location is soo frustrating. It’s in the TOP price tier ($40 per class) yet the equipment is beat to hell.

Of the 14 machines, only 4 have any padding. As in, I need to take breaks during obliques because the rock hard platform legit bruises my knee. The platforms stick instead of gliding. Straps chipping away so they cut your feet. Springs are different weights between machines. See photos for detail.

The equipment legitimately takes away from the workout and it irritates me that they charge SO much yet invest nothing back into the decaying facilities. The ~cheapest~ plan is $150 per month. I shouldn't be cutting my feet on broken equipment or finding clumps of hair on the floor.

this would easily be 5 stars if they used some of that $40-per-class to buy some new pads and straps.

New client. Realized a time won’t work for me and have been trying to get in touch for 2 hours and no one answers what kind of business are you running? I want to change to a different day and time and no assistance at all.

I want to echo the comments about the poorly maintained machines here at Ballston. It’s a lot of money (especially when they raised the membership prices 6-10 percent over the past year) to pay for machines that stick instead of glide, springs that are different tensions depending on which machine you are on, scratchy with chunks missing straps, fallen hair strands twisted around the springs, dry wipes, and sweat odors coming from the carriages/platforms as if they are rarely thoroughly cleaned. Now for my review for Solidcore DMV in general: They let you know they are automatically raising your member rate buried in a “thank you for being a member e-mail” with two weeks notice and try to say you still need 30 days to cancel. Solidcore also charges a 3 percent credit card processing fee in the fine print that they aren’t transparent about when first offering you a deal at a special lower price (they sneak the fee in later). When you ask why there is an higher rate than agreed upon, they say “taxes.” When you say Virginia is a tax free state on gym memberships, then they tell you it’s a credit card processing fee. And lastly, they put on a 12 month contract for your rate when you specifically say you don’t want one. Then they raise your rate so high after the contract ends—to a point where you simply can’t afford to go there anymore. Maybe go through Class Pass if you want to try it, but I don’t recommend becoming a member. I suggest Mosaic or Courthouse for cleaner locations. I’m giving it two stars because there are some great coaches there, and my review isn’t a reflection of them.

I’ve been taking solidcore alongside spin, and this workout is no joke. It’s helped build my core strength for stuff like spin. Love taking classes with Melissa, music is always hype and she helps with form so much, tough but so satisfying after each class.

100+ classes in, and I am still loving every workout! I really appreciate how motivating the instructors are - especially for someone like me who never had a consistent workout schedule and loathed the slightest thought of going to the gym. The workout is so hard but so effective - some of my favorite coaches, and ones I absolutely would recommend taking classes with, are Melissa, Dani, and Tyler.

I’ve been going to Solidcore for the past 3 months, and this is the first time I’ve been consistent with my workouts. I feel so much stronger and motivated. The instructors here are amazing. Have to say this studio is one of my favorite things in Ballston :)

I have been coming to this studio for about a year now and I absolutely love it! The instructors are amazing, there are a lot of classes offered every day, and the work out is unbelievably effective. I always look forward to my classes and it has really become a part of my lifestyle. The first few classes are tough, but once you stick them out, the workout becomes super addictive! I also love how positive and accepting the culture is- it is such a happy place! Highly recommend :)

By far the best first class experience I've had at a studio ever. Gavin walked through the class structure and equipment step by step in the beginner class. The class itself was incredibly challenging but the environment was super welcoming and supportive. I left exhausted and sore but motivated to keep trying. If you're looking for a challenge, look no further but definitely start with the beginner class.

I signed up for a class via Classpass and didn’t notice that they had sent me a passcode I had to use to get in. Showed up 15 mins early and no one ever came to the door. By the time I got in the class had started and I didn’t want to interrupt. Called and left a message asking if I could reschedule or at least not be charged a “missed class fee”. Not upset that they still charged me but they could have had the decency to at least call me back and let me know.

I had a bad experience trying to take this class through class pass. I arrived right on time but was not allowed to take the class because I didn’t get there 10 minutes early. Also the door code provided by classpass was wrong.

The instructor was very rude and did not say a word but instead just handed me a card and walked away. The card explained that they needed the 10 minutes to go over the equipment. I’ve been to solidcore before so I didn’t need that and should have been allowed to take the class . Way too stuffy and strict of an environment for a workout class.

This is a great exercise for everyone from beginners to elite athletes (it truly caters to all levels). My only gripe would be the price. At almost $40 per class it is a luxury. If you are looking for a challenge and have the financial powers to afford it, you should give solidcore a shot. I've only been to the Ballston location and can recommend Sam as a great coach.

I visited this location while traveling on business if you months ago. I was looking for a tough workout and definitely found just that! I had never done it worked out like this before and was definitely challenged, but the instructor was helpful and helped me to do the best that I could do. This is definitely a very hard workout and not for someone who is not already in OK shape. Expect to sweat and be thoroughly exhausted when you are finished. Definitely worth trying though!

I came across Solidcore about a year ago in DC and got a group together for a private session. That first class was more than I ever thought a workout could be. AMAZING! There are days when I feel like it is a love/hate relationship but I wouldn't want it any other way! A year later, I am still completely hooked and love the new studio in Ballston!
Every day I go to class I know the 50 minute workout will be the most efficient and effective way I can spend my time. Every coach is motivating and challenging. Just when you think you cannot hold onto the move for another second they are there motivating you to hold on. They encourage you to push your limits with EVERY move. I leave feeling strong both physically and mentally. I have seen nothing but positive changes in my body since doing this workout and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a challenge or a mix up to their normal workout routine, you will not regret it! This is a must try workout!!!!

This is one of the hardest and most effective workouts I've ever done in my life. The coaches are super knowledgeable, friendly, motivating and keep the class moving. If you are looking for a workout to constantly challenge, lengthen and strengthen your body, go to solidcore. It is worth every penny.

Amazing!!! This is a workout that you can not get anywhere else. No matter what you weights you lift at the gym, or how much you run, or how fit you think you are, you will be tested and pushed to your limits here.

The studio itself is very clean and modern. They provide water and towels - so all you need to bring is yourself and your strength and determination. There is very limited street parking, but the Ballston Mall parking garage is directly across the street and is only $1.00.

The workout is done on machines called megaformers. Every class is different - sometimes you are working more upper body, other times you are working more of your lower body - you are ALWAYS working your core. The classes are 50 minutes long - and you feel like you want to cry about 90 seconds into it because it's Just. That. Challenging. - but in a good way. I've been there about 6-7 times and I'm addicted. It's intense.

The instructors are so supportive. They will help you modify exercises if you have an injury. They will also push you to do things that you don't think you can do. The environment is so positive. I've been in classes with very fit athletes and with people that aren't quite as fit and I think every one of them has received an incredible workout.

I highly recommend solidcore!
