I have been attending Hive on and off for a few months - I joined this gym out of all the gym in the area for the sake of the Islamic principles this gym carries - coach zaki is the primary coach I’ve had through out my classes, he is by far the most experienced human being in mma in our community you will find, and his ability and sense to process, regulate, control, translate the sport through an Islamic lens has satisfied me as a student. My experience with the other members has been genuine, supportive, brotherly, competitive, and understanding - we are not here trying to learn to bully others - we understand as the coaches teach us, we are learning how to defend ourselves in case of any emergencies, as coach zaki himself has experienced real life dangerous events.
The pros of this gym - it is truly understood as a brother first gym, we are all included as men of intellect and families first before our primal natures of physical strength, the coaches are all well versed in the Martial Arts that is provided at this gym and are greatly aware of the meaning to be a student of the sport - the coaches are aware of the Islamic opinions, the principles, and the prophet model of character.
The con - Everyone has bad days, some times guys come in and aren’t mature in their emotional regulation and stress management - that bleeds into the mat as a ego centric moment for certain guys trying to prove something or let out steam upon other members - the worst part, someone can get hurt by a member due to the person lack of awareness and care of the persons fragile humanity. The actual khair(blessing) here is that the coaches have no tolerance policy upon any member that refuses to hear the rules of sparring and engagement with the members and coaches, the coaches always emphasis light sparring and practicing of technique over anything else, when there’s a member that does not hear the warnings from their sparring partners or the coaches - they are immediately sat out or asks not to return to the gym - this is the psych evaluation part with in the gym, we are all aware as members we can get hurt - but what is not appropriate is when a member has no regard to the continuous warning on practicing harmful techniques and using excessive force in order to please their own gain or lack of ability to regulate their emotions.
You will sustain an injury at some point - please read your contract carefully, the injuries are usually self inflicted by landing In correctly via your wrist or on your feet / second hand injuries are from the members that I mentioned above that are not prepared to be in a sophisticated sport as mma and the HIVE coaches DO NOT ALLOW that to continue once they are aware.
My one point to add in order to bring a benefit to the gyms structure - Is having the amount of members 1 coach can handle at a time - this will remove the crowding issues and coaches will be able to handle the class far better - we have to be merciful to the coaches because it is a high stress, emotional environment and requires high caution, care and vigilance in order to keep everyone safe and healthy - in my experience, each coach has had a extreme hold upon the class and do everything they can to follow the rules of engagement through an Islamic lens.
If you’re gonna take a class for trial - start with coach zaki, because I started with him - he’s been a real sensai and gives me the older brother I’ve been looking for, he does not let you go without letting you know - you belong as a human being at his gym, and Islam comes first and community comes first for him.

The highlight of my week! Hive Women’s hosts free trial classes and I joined the one for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class in April and fell in love with the class instantly. Coach Sama is very welcoming and attentive to newcomers. It’s hard to find a place that really caters to womens classes - this place is a gem!

Such a lovely, feminine space for sisters to come together and work out in a relaxed and supportive environment. The instructors are all great, but I’ve mostly been going to Hajer’s yoga and Pilates classes—she’s honestly amazing! She creates such a calming, positive vibe and really takes the time to understand and work with your individual needs. I’ve shared my focus areas with her, and she’s been so thoughtful and accommodating. Everyone here is super welcoming and uplifting. Definitely recommend checking it out!

Alhamdullah,after 3 months of regular practice to Yoga, plates, zomba and other sports at Hive MMA, I feel much better physically and mentally. Especially, I had an issue with sciatic nerve it gets better!

I absolutely love Hive Fitness Studio! The variety of classes is amazing, and I really appreciate that it's a women-only space—it creates such a confident and comfortable environment. The coaches are awesome, so patient, and really supportive. One of the best things is the daycare service during workouts—it makes it so much easier for moms with babies to stay active.
