This is a place for serious work out. Very adequate for serious lifters and work out nuts (like me) Don't expect latte bars and wainscoting on the wall. Well used equipment. Just go get a serious work out. Both very basic and very thorough. If you are a member, you can't beat gym hours. I like the place a lot

The gym and the staff are great especially Tori Ryan my personal trainer. Her professionalism, communication skills and ability to make me laugh even during the toughest workouts were greatly appreciated. She created a positive, supportive and fun atmosphere that makes exercising something I actually look forward to. On Friday Nov 8th 2024 at the Castleton location at 535pm a staff member was running/chasing someone else around the gym, swerving in and around equipment. As a member this is absolutely unacceptable as it's unsafe and unprofessional. What if either of thr young adults/kids bumped into someone who then fell into a peice of equipment and injured themselves or worse hit their head? What if either of them hurt themselves and or someone else?

I love this gym, come to the gym all the time when I’m in town, music is good, equipment is amazing and has a sauna. I have never had a problem until today, I always go with my brother(15YO) and workout together, pay and on my way to have a good workout but today some lady at the front desk was just being a Karen about it, asking for legal documentation if I was a guardian and saying he has to be 18 and in the past we have filled out waivers before and other staff members have let us workout and never asked us those questions, and just told me to not leave him alone since he is 15, and to enjoy our workout. Would be 5 stars but 3 stars for the sudden switch up and attitude of the old lady.

LOVE Iron Asylum - lifters of any background are incredibly spoiled here. The variety and condition of equipment is unmatched, whether you’re a powerlifter, bodybuilder, strongman athlete or are going to get a good lift in. One of the cleanest warehouse gyms I’ve ever been to by far. The staff is super friendly, management is also really attentive to needs and the members are really welcoming as well. I’ve been at the Castleton Iron Asylum for almost 3 years now and I have finally found my home. I travel a lot for work and go to many gyms. As a guy that likes powerlifting, this is one of my all-time favorite gyms to drop into when I'm in the area. Great equipment like Rogue Power Bars, Texas deadlift bars and specialty bars. Many racks, benches, and platforms. Also great for Olympic lifters or cross fitters.

I originally checked out Iron Asylum because I work a lot and the 24-hour access was ideal. It is also very much geared towards lifting which is what I prefer over a gym 3/4th full of treadmills and step machines. My experience has far exceeded my expectations. The gym is incredibly well-kept, employees are super friendly, and gym etiquette is far more present here than any other gym I’ve been to. Without hesitation, Iron Asylum is always my first recommendation for a gym :)

I initially had a positive impression of this gym, as it seems to cater well to hardcore bodybuilders and seasoned gym-goers. Most of the staff members are friendly and helpful.

However, I had a negative experience recently that has led me to update my review and reduce my rating by one star. My membership was abruptly revoked due to an issue on the gym's billing system, and I received no advance notice or explanation. When I spoke with a staff member about the issue and asked if I could make a payment the following day, I was told that this was not possible.

This incident has left me feeling disappointed and frustrated. It's especially concerning given that I had previously supported the gym by making payments during the COVID-19 pandemic, even though I wasn't able to use the facilities at the time. I can't help but wonder if the gym truly values its members and their loyalty. Overall, I find this kind of behavior from a business to be unacceptable and shameful.

Love love love this gym. Been a member since 2016 when they were a tiny little warehouse. Now they have expanded to 3 awesome locations! I still haven't checked out the Kempsville or Norfolk one, but judging by the pictures they're amazing! This is the best gym in Va Beach and also the cleanest. They have crossfit, powerlifting, strongman and bodybuilding all under one roof. On nice days in the fall and spring they open the garage doors which is nice as there is normally a breeze that brings fresh air into the gym. The other IA locations are also nice but this one is more of a classic warehouse gym feel. If you are looking for a new gym or trainer this is where you want to start.

When I joined this gym in late December of 2021 I was expecting a slight step up from my previous gym. What I got was a complete life style change and introduction into powerlifting. The staff and members alike are both motivating and knowledgeable as they’re all members of the sport. As a former Crossfiter, I chose Iron Asylum purely for the 24/7 access. Castleton, in my opinion, is by far the best location of the two current facilities, as there are windows and the bathrooms are always clean.

There's a "Crossfit" section with all the basics: trueform runners, boxes, ropes, lifting rig, rowers, etc.; Olympic lifting platforms; AND huge body building space with both equipment and free weights. Really a Crossfiter's heaven.

I also feel that overall, people respect each other's space when working out. I live in Chesapeake and will drive 30 minutes just to work out at the Castleton location. Best gym in the 757.
