This is an excellent gym. It's absolutely enormous, I don't know what this building was before but it's about the size of a whole foods so there's lots of space. The equipment isn't stacked on top of each other so even if the gym is busy it's never crowded which I appreciate. The equipment is high quality and there's a lot of it. I've never waited for a bench or a squat rack. I hope they continue to expand their selection of strongman competitions and host events!

I started working out at planet fitness and the moved to One Life and now im at Iron Asylum. I wish I would started here from the beginning, the support and equipment selection is bar none. Coming from a different gym, I am so impressed with Iron Ayslum. The staff is extremely friendly & personable. I was very nervous coming here at first, but the staff being so welcoming, the nerves eased very quickly. The machines are very well maintained. If something is down or out of order, it’s not down for long at all. I can tell they truly care about members having access to all the equipment they need for their workout. From my experience, none of the members bs around equipment & spend a hour on 1 machine. They get their sets done & leave. Great gym, lots of different equipment you wouldn't find at a commercial gym. This gym has turf, like 15 squat racks, deadlift platforms, multiple cable machines and loads of different machines for upper and lower body days. Aside from a few great staff members, this is definitely one of the worst gym memberships I’ve ever signed a contract with. Every other week their treadmills are constantly breaking, the cables aren’t maintained well and constantly sticking, while most of their machines have cracked seats taped up.The way they handle conflicts between members even if those conflicts are outside the gym, they have no issue canceling your contract favoring some members that have been going there longer over newer members. This gym is very unprofessional and in my opinion does not treat every member equally. If you ask to speak to the owners regarding any issues they will not contact you because they’re too busy. Highly recommend any other gym over this one.

Just to clarify further when asking the owners for details or proof of any altercations that actually happened with any members at the establishment that went against their rules or affected their other members when asked when and where did the member ever bother any other patron while at the establishment the owners would not provide any the only statement and response given was that they would support longer standing members over new members regardless of no evidence of any wrong done at the establishment I stand by my review of this place being highly unprofessional towards their new members. They have no issues violating the terms of their own contracts to fit their own needs.

This gym is a disappointment coming from the Norfolk location. I’ve been looking for a new gym since day 1 of coming here, the only thing keeping my business here is the lack of 24 hour gym options. They have poor quality and damaged equipment. The smith machine is rusted and has restricted movement. Their cable machine pulleys never get oiled so they have uneven resistance. The pads don’t get repaired, they just throw tape over them and it has left black stains all over my pants and shoes. I’ve ruined so many clothes and my shoes are stained black. This has been ongoing for the past couple months now although I have already brought this up to staff. I have nothing good to say about this location.

Been going for over two months now. Sad I didn’t find IA earlier, but am loving my membership. Amazing staff, amazing options for equipment - fancy machine to target your muscles more efficiently and the standard ones to stick the the basics - and great options for rehabilitation. We just moved here from the West coast and tried a couple other gyms before coming here, and ended up buying a membership that day. The facility is MASSIVE, plenty of squat racks, turf area, yoke carry, KBs, sandbags, lots of machines, cardio equipment, and even a back room for CrossFit with more cardio machines (skis, rowers, assault runners, assault bikes, bike erg) with a rig set up! I was blown away by the amount of equipment. Not only this, they even had deadlift platforms as well as another area for Olympic lifts with blocks. The staff was extremely friendly greeting us as soon as we walked in and explained the layout of the gym to us and basic rules, members are asked to grab a spray bottle and rag to wipe down equipment which I appreciated. After buying our $15 day pass we asked to sign up for a membership, our day passes then counted towards sign up costs! They prorated out the costs for the end of the month on top of that as well. Extremely happy with this new gym, Iron Asylum is doing things right!

Where do I start?
I was having a really hard time with finding my passion for the gym, however once I saw some of the equipment pieces Iron Asylum had I was sold!

I came in to sign up and was given a tour by Ramsey. He was not only high energy and pleasant; he was super informative and knowledgeable for all walks of athletes.

Even during peak hours and with quite a bit of people there it never seems overly packed!

Not one to write reviews, but MAN the crew at the Iron Asylum in Newport News is stellar! Great people all around and beyond personable. Nathen gave me a well detailed tour of the gym and Ramsey is an absolute pleasure to sit and chat with. Extremely professional but fun environment. The gym itself is massive and accommodates a large crowd with great and innovative machines. 10/10 recommend this gym especially if you’re active duty military 💪🏼👌🏼

This gym alone is amazing! So much space and so many squat and deadlift platforms you never have to wait. Staff is super friendly and helpful especially Trey he showed me around and even helped with some questions i had on how to use certain machines i have never used before. If you need a new home gym this is it!

Amazing gym! Went in for a Day Pass and ended up leaving with a membership, unrivaled space and equipment! Coolest gym I’ve been to! Ramsey was a huge help, even let me stay a little after closing to finish my session!

My wife and I have been going to the Newport News Iron Asylum location since it opened, and we have been thoroughly enjoying it. There's plenty of equipment with variations of each, it's well maintained and clean, spacious, and inviting. Trey, the manager, has been absolutely phenomenal and personable.

So much space, amazing vibe! Every machine that they have in there is laid out for a smooth transition from one exercise to another. Brand new Roger’s machines and great selections of another brands! Ramsay is the man! Can’t speak more highly of him he shows he cares about every member at IA by going above and beyond! I highly recommend going in to check it out not only for beginners but for everyone. Plus they have dope new shirts.

I came in to get a tour and potentially become a member. I was greeted by Ramsey. He was so nice and pleasant to talk to. He answer all of my questions and more. He was very informative and even demonstrated On how to use some of the machines if I didn’t know how to. My first visit was awesome thanks to Ramsey and his great customer service skills. Amazing and beautiful gym. Half of the equipment is completely new to me and I love it. The staff is equally amazing and courteous. Ramsey is always greeting and walking around the gym keeping it straight and clean. Very friendly and will answer any and all questions you might have. Great place to be a part of.

Solid equipment, Solid vibe. Definitely and upgrade from your conventional gym at a comparable cost. Ramsay helped me out with a quick tour while I was on a quick break from work. Took 15 min tops. Come in and get some gains!
