Nick Flynn is a fantastic personal trainer. He meets you where you are on your fitness journey. I was a novice, and Nick was able to help me build and build my physical fitness. He covers it all - exercises, nutrition and mindset. Nick is also constantly learning and taking advanced personal training courses, and he brings that knowledge into his sessions. Highly recommend!

Working with Nick Flynn was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for my health and fitness. Gym is not intimidating anymore thanks to Richard for being so informative, positive, and very encouraging which is exactly what I was looking for. He explains everything in detail, brings amazing energy to the workout and makes it fun. He is helping me with my form, endurance and strength. This past summer, my 14 year old son became interested in getting into a fitness regimen and incorporating strength training into his routine. We felt it was important for him to learn how to lift weights safely and correctly versus learning bad habits in a weight room with a bunch of teenagers, especially with him still growing. We found Richy and believe he has been one of the best influences on our son. Richy really connects with him and instills consistency, focus and rigor. My son has thrived with Richy, growing more physically fit and confident after every session. Richy prepared him as he started to dabble in high school sports (football, wrestling). We have also had partner sessions with a friend and those have been very fun for the boys! Richy is an amazing, talented trainer and will be an integral part of our son’s fitness journey.

I've been training at Training Ground Ballston for over a year now, and it has been absolutely life-changing for me. I work with Lila, who is just an incredible trainer-- she's so encouraging, and since she's been training me, I have felt stronger than I ever have in my life! I look forward to every session. I had no gym experience and was nervous about starting a workout routine, but the environment at Training Ground is very friendly and welcoming. I cannot recommend this gym (and Lila!) enough!

My husband has been working out with Christian Christoffersen for a few months now. I specifically looked for someone who specializes in balance issues. Chris was a perfect match and my husband’s balance and strength has improved since they started. Chris is very easy to work with, flexible with scheduling, and responds to messages quickly.

12/18/2023 Update - still coming here and continuing to get stronger. In fact did my first unassisted chin up recently. Now working w Joanne and she’s great! I really appreciate how flexible she is (Karly was too) when I need to reschedule due to work conflicts. I’m also doing the app and love having my workouts on demand now. Still love the environment and the friendliness of everyone there. Can’t say enough about this place!
12/14/2022 Update - I’ve been coming here and training with Karly for over a year now and can say I've come a long way with strength training PRs and how strong my shoulders have gotten. I'm now able to do push ups and other weight movements without any pain, which is a big deal for me considering where I started when I first met Karly. It's been great to have my shoulders start feeling like my old (pre "good form" ;-) self. I'll also add that I really enjoy the friendly atmosphere here and how you get to know the other trainers and of course the cutest gym dog Leena!

I’ve been enjoying working out here w/ my trainer Karly since early spring. I really enjoy the 1:1 training and the space with the various equipment has allowed me to have a great variety of workouts. Karly has been great in helping me get my strength back after a long time of no serious weight lifting due to shoulder exercises. I can see myself getting stronger over the last few months! The space itself is also great. At most I’ve seen 2 other trainers here w/ their clients, so it’s never crowded (which is great during this covid time) and I really like having the online option w/ their app to keep up my workouts between visits w/ Karly. The no long term contract is an added bonus as well!

After walking by Training Ground for almost a year, I finally stopped in to learn more about it and became a new member in November. I love how my coach Chris works to tailor each workout to my needs while at the same time helping me make progress on my goals. I have had a wonderful experience at Training Ground Ballston since last year! Pablo is am amazing trainer who has helped me immensely in my wellness journey. He cares so much for his clients and is always willing to go the extra mile! Update: I’ve been working with Pablo over the past year and it’s been an amazing and rewarding experience. We can’t thank Joanne enough for all of her help getting us back into shape. Not only did she help us lose a few pounds while building muscle and losing fat, but she also made every workout fun and was great about keeping us motivated. My wife and I trained with her twice a week for several weeks, and we enjoyed it so much that we continue to renew our package. I’ve only been working with Jen H. for 6 months, and am noticing a huge difference in my overall fitness and diet!
Jen makes our weekly training sessions fun and effective - I wouldn't be able to make the same amount of progress on my own without Jen. During our sessions, she'll also give nutrition guidance to make sure I'm eating right/enough to build muscles.
One of the reasons I love Training Ground is their flexibility with schedules (because life happens), unlike other gyms that lock you into contracts + forfeit your sessions if you're not able to make them.

I came to training ground because I was having a really hard time finding the motivation to go to the gym and meet my very real goals. It was the best decision I ever made. Every single person I have interacted with is so nice and welcoming and supportive. More quickly than I expected, I gained so much confidence just by walking through the door.

I have had a wonderful experience at Training Ground Ballston since I started in late September. Heather paired Chanda and I together and I couldn’t be more grateful to Chanda for her dedication and compassion to me as a client. You can tell immediately that Chanda is an amazing trainer who cares about her clients and wants to see them succeed in their health journey. She’s incredibly smart and is always thoroughly explaining movements and what muscles are utilized and strengthened. She easily pivots or modifies if it doesn’t click right away and that makes such a difference in how I approach these new workouts. She makes you feel confident even when things get tough. We’ve had many beneficial conversations beyond strength training; whether that’s understanding nutrition, meal planning, workout planning, or helping me to understand mental barriers that impact my nutrition or workouts. There’s absolutely no dread in going to workout and I feel stronger than I have in a very long time.

I've been going to Training Ground for almost a year now and it's been a phenomenal experience. The facility itself is bright and clean, and unlike a regular gym, it's set up just for personal training sessions. My trainer, Rahim, is the absolute best! He is filled to the brim with positive energy and motivation. My workouts with him are challenging, effective, and fun! I've lost almost 40 pounds since I started training with him, and I'm continuing to get stronger every week. My daughter, Sarah, has been working with Rahim for about six months. Before starting with Training Ground, Sarah would occasionally go with me to the gym. Not only is Heather a wonderful first introduction to Training Ground, my personal trainer, Rich, is a consummate professional. At our first meeting, I told him the following, "I am a former athlete, but it has been many years, and I am now old, and I don't know where my limits are anymore. I am outsourcing the responsibility of getting back in shape, without hurting myself, to you!" Rich readily accepted this responsibility, and demonstrated his understanding of the request by starting off our training with flexibility, body weight strength training, and movement. The subsequent weeks of work with Rich have greatly improved my concentration and sleep, in addition to revving up my metabolism and improving my balance. Now that we are in the weight loss phase of his program, I look forward to working out more than I eve have, and Rich's great attitude and encouragement motivates me even more. I fully recommend Rich in particular, and Training Ground generally, if you are looking for a judgement free and empathetic, but rigorous and serious, personal training experience.

I’ve been working out with Joanne for about 6 months now, and I’m amazed by my progress - I feel so strong! I have been working out at training ground for over a month and my trainer, Pablo, is excellent. He carefully plans my workouts to maximize my dual goals of strength training and stability while taking into account my injuries and limitations. Pablo pushes me to get the most out of my sessions and makes me laugh. Training with him is a welcome break from my busy schedule.

I've been training here with Pablo for over 2 months now, and it's been the best training experience I've had. I've previously done personal training through Gold's, LA Fitness, and One Life Fitness. This is a much better deal! The facility has everything that you'd need to get a solid workout in. The trainers are friendly and personable. I’ve been lifting at Training Ground for about 6 months now and what a great decision it’s been! I played 4 years of collegiate sports but stopped working out consistently after that. I finally wanted to get back into lifting weights but have trouble motivating myself and figuring out what to do. Then I found Training Ground! It had great reviews and they offer so many different options/packages based on what you’re looking for. I started with Training Ground in November - my initial meeting with the manager, Heather, went well - she was attentive and responsive to my questions. My trainer is Megan and she's great! She takes the time to listen to my goals and help push me in a way that I'm comfortable, and it really is helpful to have someone there to watch your form and make sure you're doing your workouts properly.
I also love that it's a private gym so it's never super crowded and/or having to wait around for equipment. I'd recommend Training Ground and Megan to anyone looking for personal training :)

I have been training virtually with Joanne for about six months and have been so thrilled with my experience. We use Training Ground's app to connect regularly, where Joanne posts my monthly workout plan and shares explanations, and I can also send her videos of my form for her feedback. This gives me the flexibility to work out whenever and wherever my schedule allows. Even though we aren't physically together, Joanne is amazing and writes the best cues to help me understand exactly what I should be doing. She designs my workouts every month based on my goals, how I am physically feeling, and any feedback I may have. Michael is the most amazing, empathetic and focused trainer ever! I love that a session with him feels like catching up with an old friend every time (a friend who makes you push yourself to the next level while being drenched in sweat!). After 6 major knee surgeries (3 per leg) I was looking for a personal trainer with a PT background to help me regain both physical strength and the psychological sense of athleticism that I'd lost. Training Ground paired me with Brie, and I couldn't be happier. I use to have a small adult group personal training several years ago, but since moving to Arlington and my trainer moving, I stopped looking for PT. I did a variety of other things like OTF, classes as my gym, drop in classes as studios, but it was always missing the personal touch of a trainer, without being lonely and super expensive as a 1:1. This place by far has the best rates and the best layout. I do small group (me and 2 other people) and it’s fantastic- I love it. And I love that it’s a strength training focus, so you can really work on getting stronger while working on form and having another pair of eyes to watch you and help you, and motivate you!
