I've been training with Dylan for almost a year now, and he’s absolutely phenomenal. Since we started, I’ve made the most consistent progress I’ve seen in a *very* long time.

For me, it was the things I didn’t even *know* I didn’t know that were holding me back the most. Dylan’s expertise across so many dimensions has finally put me on the right path toward real, sustainable progress.

1. Proper form and technique

Dylan has an incredible eye for detail. Through his precise feedback and form corrections, I’ve been able to progressively lift heavier — and just as importantly — stay injury-free. Before training with him, I’d get injured every few months without really knowing why. Now, my technique is dialed in, and that alone has made a *huge* difference. Avoiding injuries that sideline you for weeks (or months) at a time is a game-changer.

2. Nutrition

I was *confidently* doing this wrong for a long time. Dylan gave me clear, actionable guidance on how to eat for both health and gains. I had no idea how much my poor nutrition habits were holding me back — and fixing this has made a massive impact.

3. Programming
This is where Dylan’s attention to detail really shines. Every exercise in his program has a clear purpose, and everything — from the order of exercises within a session to progression over time — is thoughtfully structured. He also takes the time to understand your goals and tailors the program to fit your lifestyle, not just the gym.

Bottom line: 10/10 would recommend Dylan. Working with him has hands down been the best decision I’ve made for my lifting, health, and overall well-being.

Dylan is a phenomenal coach. I have been working with Dylan for the past 6 months. Everything from his program design, to technical feedback, to nutrition design has been amazing. I have made huge improvements on my lifts, running, pull-ups and nutrition. I have also managed to lose over 10 pounds in the past few months without compromising my strength progress. He is truly a subject matter expert in his field and communicates feedback in a way that I am able to understand. His feedback is timely and he also makes time to adjust programming if I have to make last minute modifications due to scheduling conflicts. I could not ask for a better coach. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for anyone that wants to take their training to the next level.

Working with Dylan for over a year has completely changed my philosophy regarding training, nutrition, and sleep. From the very beginning, Dylan encouraged and instilled healthy habits into my daily routines that I expect to continue for the rest of my life.

Dylan’s personalized coaching approach is second to none. He truly takes the time to strategize and implement fitness protocols that work for you specifically. He is quick to make adjustments when necessary, and always putting himself in the clients’ shoes. He genuinely cares and invests his time and effort wholeheartedly to guarantee his clients’ success.

Dylan has an eye for movement and attention to detail that he has cultivated over years of honing his craft. He picks up on deviations in technique that could have easily gone unnoticed, and draws your attention to them before making actionable suggestions and giving cues to improve shortcomings.

Most importantly, Dylan tells you what you need to hear as opposed to what you want to hear. His positive mindset is infectious, and he will be in your corner to dispel all the self-doubt that you possess. Meeting Dylan at the time I did changed my life for the better, and I would recommend him to anyone interested in prioritizing their health in the long term.

I came to Dylan because I wasn’t doing my own workouts and I wanted to gain muscle. Dylan has kept on me consistently and pushed me to get better at my lifts. I’m not skipping as many workouts anymore and gained some of the definition I was looking to achieve.

I have been training with dylan for a few months and it has been incredibly productive. Dylan is very detail oriented and professional. He is CLEAR with his communication and you will receive feedback that you can take direct action on- one step at a time. He is specific and will take the time to go over the details with you so you can learn and internalize the information. With this program I have been able to learn what, why, and how without feeling overwhelmed even as a person who is new to fitness. Another thing is that Dylan is just a very good guy- it's obvious when you meet him that he is an honest person who loves what he does. What you see is what you get- no games, just hard work!

Dylan is an amazing strength coach and personal friend who has overseen my growth for more than three years now. Whether it’s general questions about your lifting program or nerding out about various topics he is always down for a conversation. His instructions and critiques are easy to follow and his workout schedules are entirely effective.

Working with Dylan has been a life changing experience. Within just three months under his guidance, I've seen remarkable progress not just in my physical strength but in my overall approach to fitness. Dylan's method is not the typical trainer-client relationship; it's a tailored program meticulously crafted to align with individual goals, emphasizing building muscle, mobility, and good technique. His deep understanding of fitness and physiology allows him to tailor workouts that yield visible improvements, particularly noticeable in my core and key lifts like bench presses, squats, and deadlifts.

What sets Dylan apart is his unparalleled ability as a teacher. His communication skills are exceptional, making complex training concepts accessible and actionable. Dylan's commitment to education extends beyond an exercise program ; he analyzes into the why and how of each movement, ensuring that I grasp the technique and purpose behind every exercise. This educational approach has empowered me with knowledge and confidence, enabling me to execute exercises with precision and to understand their impact on my body.

Choosing Dylan as a coach has been the best investment in my health and fitness journey. His dedication to my progress, combined with his skill in breaking down fitness techniques, has not only improved my physical health but has also instilled a deeper understanding and appreciation for the science of fitness. For anyone serious about making lasting changes to their physique and strength, Dylan is the epitome of an excellent teacher and coach. Your future self will thank you for making this choice.

I’m a Powerlifting coach of 7 years myself and trust Dylan to handle my programming, technical review and game day calls! I have tried many coaches over the years and Dylan is the only one I’ve found to truly have his craft mastered to the point I can give over complete control to him. Not only have I grown and learned as a fellow coach but I’ve also seen insane gains! We achieved an 800kg platform total as well as an 1800lb gym total. Soon we will have 1800 @ 198 on the platform! I wouldn’t be near these goals if it wasn’t for his coaching! I think the most important attribute Dylan posses above all is that he cares. Most coaches truly won’t individualize everything but you can rest assured Dylan will always show you 100% effort at all times if you give it back!

I've been working with Dylan for roughly a year and a half. Under his incredibly thorough and individualized programming, I've not only gotten stronger, but I'm no longer in constant tendon pain. He has also changed my mindset about strength training, longevity, and injury prevention. Most importantly, he is patient, which is really great if you are not naturally "athletic". I'd recommend Dylan to anyone looking to improve their form or prevent/improve injuries.

I’ve been with Dylan just over a year and I have learned more than my previous years of experience elsewhere. He really makes sure you understand proper technique and doesn’t let you get away with the little things or not pushing yourself hard enough. He gives you tough love, especially when you don’t want it, but he’s incredibly supportive and understanding.

I have been training for a year now with Dylan at BTS. The training program has yielded the best gains I have ever had. The program is NOT cookie cutter. It is specifically tailored to the needs of the lifter. For me, overall fitness, health and safety were key in my decision to start and continue with BTS. If you take training seriously, BTS is the way to go!

For anyone interested in a coach who will push you in every aspect of your training look no further than Dylan. I came to Dylan after 5 years in powerlifting looking for help with my bench press, in 15 minutes he taught me more than I’d learned in 5 years elsewhere. Dylan doesn’t just break down your main movements, he analyzes everything to push for progress and optimize performance in every aspect. Nutrition, main movements, accessories, all of it, this is a man who truly wants each and every one of his clients to reach and go beyond their goals, and does everything in his power to get them there. 10/10

I came to Dylan seeking a different type of online coaching. I own a gym that has about 4 people who are coached by him and I felt like he was at my gym the whole time. I never met the guy or even saw his face but his voice touched every corner of my gym. I heard a lot of good things about his programming but what got my attention was his communication. I never heard of an online coach giving feedback to a client mid-set or mid-training. That was wild for me. I had to see it for myself. After I made the switch, I immediately felt the differences. His communication skills cannot be matched with anyone I know or heard of. He gets you on board with what he wants of you and how he'll take you there. For once, it felt like a coach was invested with me instead of "working" for me. That right there is all I needed to see to make me keep going and gives me confidence I will hit my goals. Fully recommend for all levels. You won't regret it.

I come from an Olympic lifting background and have been lifting for about 6 years now. I realized my strength was significantly lacking from where it should be. I told him I wanted to become strong but personally have no interest in “powerlifting.” Dylan explained that while he has a focus towards powerlifting his over all specialization is in strength building. I’ve been training with Dylan for over 6 months; in the very first session alone he completely revamped the way I squat and benched. Dylan is the first coach I’ve ever had that can explain how to do a complex movement in a very simple and understanding way for you to grasp. He has a vast well of knowledge and goes in depth with his explanations on any and all questions I’ve presented him. Unlike most trainers you see at your everyday gym Dylan is a true COACH! He is a coach that keeps you accountable to the goals you’ve given him. I tend to have terrible program ADD and when I mention a change to Dylan he is more than willing to work with me but ALWAYS reminds me of what our original goal was and not to lose track of that. He has forced me to push myself harder than I have in a long time. But like I said he doesn’t JUST focus on powerlifting techniques. Recently I told him I’d been burning out on strength building and needed a change of pace. Completely understanding this man wrote a completely personalized program for me primarily focused on accessory and almost body building techniques to help give me CNS a rest while simultaneously still helping me build strength. I don’t know how much more detail I need to give you to tell you he is probably the single best coach I’ve had on account of his excessive knowledge as well as his adaptability to understanding my needs as an athlete to help coincide with my goals as a lifter.

10/10 would and have recommended him to anyone looking to build their strength and improve their own lifting knowledge to be an over all more capable lifter.

I’ve tried a few different strength coaches over the years, and Dylan is the best one I’ve worked with out of them all. I receive virtual coaching only from him which is my preference, and he’s insistent that every motion is technically accurate, which is what I felt I’ve been missing for years from my training. He has always responded to my training videos within an hour of my sending them, and there are usually several minutes’ worth of critique which I find insightful enough to write down next to my workouts. He’s also quick to adapt workouts to my needs which I appreciate. If you’re looking for someone who is perceptive, demands perfection, and really understands the nuances of the lifts, then he’s your coach. I wish I had found him years ago since I’m sure I’d be much further along in my lifting by now if I had.

I've been working with Dylan for 4 months now. I came to him for strength training specifically for off-season gains for baseball and have also sought his advice on nutrition. From our first meeting I have been impressed with Dylan's knowledge of the craft and attention to detail. I have gained better technique and improved my strength in each of the big three lifts and have seen positive gains in muscle mass and applied strength. I am really impressed with how Dylan sets up and delivers my workout plans. They are always top notch and in-line with my goals. He monitors my progress from workout to workout. He is responsive to my feedback and is always there when I have questions. In addition to all of that he is extremely personable and approachable. Overall, I would highly recommend Dylan for anyone looking for a powerlifting coach.

I started training with Dylan a few weeks ago on recommendations from several gym friends, and I couldn't be happier. I already feel stronger, more confident, and more technically sound in all three power lifts. Dylan provides great, actionable, constructive criticism that's easy to understand. His tone is always friendly and collaborative, never condescending; he truly wants what's best for each of his athletes, and from what I've seen, he treats each athlete alike, no matter where they are in their strength journey. I trust him to hold me accountable and never tell me what I want to hear or give me undue praise. The amount of time and attention to detail he gives to each of his lifters is amazing; I don't know how he finds the time. I recommend Dylan to anyone who's ready to really commit to training and getting stronger.

I've been working with Dylan for about six weeks now, after approximately 2 years of lifting on my own, and I can't recommend him highly enough. If you're thinking about hiring a coach, don't hesitate to reach out to Dylan. Dylan provides excellent programming, and is extremely knowledgeable about technique. But more than that, Dylan is unbelievably responsive with feedback and questions, and it is apparent that he prioritizes that. Knowing that Dylan is putting 100% into his coaching and making himself available to his lifters leads me to strive to give 100% to my sessions as well, and I look forward to continuing to improve on the technique, strength, and mindset gains I've already made in such a short time.

After a few years of seeing almost all the powerlifters at the gym wearing BTS shirts and spotting multiple lifters doing what seemed like endless sets of band pull aparts, I decided to approach Dylan about coaching. I don’t think there’s enough you can say about Dylan as a coach and more importantly as a person, his approach to coaching is the most hands on and detailed than any coach I’ve ever had, not only that but he’s very approachable, kind and more importantly FOCUSED among other things. I came to him after dealing with a bulging disc injury that took lower body work out of my training for months. Thankfully with the precision, attentiveness, and patience of Dylan and his programming I’m back at deadlifting and squatting weight I didn’t expect to lift for many months with the injury and now even aiming for a powerlifting meet (AFTER ONLY 3 MONTHS!) Not only am I back to doing lower body work I am smashing through my own goals on all my lifts and my expectation from BTS and Dylan were completely shattered. I am 100% confident and proud to say that I am and will always be a Big Three Strength athlete for life and if you want to see your performance taken to the next level then you NEED to contact Dylan and get with BTS ASAP.

I started working with Dylan as a very new lifter. He provided me with a strong foundation and confidence in the three big lifts as well as overall health and wellness. He is very knowledgeable and detail oriented, which has been helpful in both making progress and maintaining safety. His program is personalized and his feedback is always concrete and specific. Although he works with me primarily as a virtual coach, it always feels like I have my coach in the gym with me. He helps lifters set rigorous but attainable goals with a program designed to meet those goals.

I also come from a background of years disordered eating and overexercising. This made me hesitant to reach out to a coach. Not only has Dylan made my mental and physical health a priority, this program has motivated me to continue down a path of strength and recovery.

If you are looking to put in real work and see real results, Dylan will work just as hard to get you there.

Dylan was recommended to me for remote coaching by two dear friends. Initially, my main concern was the price, but I honestly believe that he is worth every cent.
What separates him from other coaches I've worked with in the past is that he listens to my concerns attentively and offers practical, workable solutions. He is quick to respond and offers constructive criticism (and is very patient in doing so) as well as acknowledgement of correct technique when warranted.
His knowledge of powerlifting rivals some of the greatest coaches in the sport.
I definitely see myself working with Dylan for the foreseeable future.

Dylan takes considerable time to assess where you’re at before training, and doing everything he can to help you improve. You will know that he cares about your progress because of his great attention to detail. He is not afraid to criticize your technique in order to help you improve.

What are you waiting for? Hire this gem and wealth of knowledge! I started working with Dylan 6 months ago with ~2 years of powerlifting training under my belt. I knew he was the real deal when he spent 4.5 hours(!!) with me during our first one-on-one session -- testing my capabilities, offering advice with evidence-based explanations and was super patient in answering all of my questions.

Not only did he quickly identify weak points in my technique (my feet!) that carried over to the rest of my body, but he personalized my subsequent programming to rebuild my lifts (especially squat) from the ground up. My lifts have never looked and felt better.

The most valuable aspect of Dylan's coaching, however, is the heightened accountability he creates because he spends SO MUCH TIME and energy into helping you succeed. It really raised the bar for me and inspired me to 1) take powerlifting as a sport more seriously, 2) learn what the long-term strength journey REALLY entails and 3) practice gentle self-awareness and accept the ebbs and flows of training.

Dylan has completely transformed my mindset and maturity as an athlete, and for that I am forever grateful. Can't wait to see what the months and years ahead look like :) Now what more do you need to know?

I’ve been lifting for 18 years, 12 of which I competed in Strongman some may say I know a thing or two. I met Dylan in the gym and realized he was training almost half the gym in powerlifting, so I thought he has to be good! After sparking my curiosity it wasn’t long Dylan had me enter and win my first powerlifting meet with only three months of his coaching and training, hitting personal records on all of my lifts! I’ve since then have been convinced that I’m a Big Three Strenght athlete for life. Dylan is by far the most thorough and dedicated coaches I’ve had, even teaming up with his wife they go above and beyond handling and encouraging lifters at competitions and give you the best expirence you could have while competing. I highly recommend this professional due to his work ethic and passion for educating and coaching lifters of all sorts!

When I first reached out to Dylan 5 months ago I had only a little over a year of experience with any type of serious training, so you can say I was definitely a novice. From day one he worked with me to understand my strengths and weaknesses on my main lifts as well as accessories and helped me understand the correct movement patterns for them all. By the end of the first training block, I was performing lifts with better technique and I felt more confident when approaching lifts.

Dylan puts a lot of care and time into coaching you, whether that be crafting a personalized plan or critiquing lifts from each session. Dylans a phenomenal coach and definitely somebody you should consider whether you are a novice or experienced lifter.

I started powerlifting in 2012 and since then I switched between different program and sometimes I did my own programming and that got me to a good level. I started working with coach Dylan in July 2019 to prep me for the 2019 IPF Asian Powerlifting Championship. His prep got me to another level, not only by hitting PR's, but also by being solid on form and being safe and injury free.

Meet recap:
Went 9/9
Squat: 220kg (5kg meet PR)
Bench press: 132.5kg (17.5kg meet PR)
Deadlift: 265kg
Total: 617.5kg (27.5kg PR)

Dylan is also great in communication, I am in Kuwait and Dylan is in the US and I've never had any issues with communication because he's always on top of it.

Very happy with the amazing results of these 5 months, I'm definitely going to keep working with coach Dylan for even better meets in the future.

I can’t recommend Dylan highly enough if you are interested in becoming both stronger and a better powerlifter. I’ve come to Dylan from an athletic background, but that’s as 20 year cardio athlete. About a year ago, in my early 40s, I decided that I wanted to shift into strength training. In 9 months I took the DIY/occasional trainer session as far as I could and had run head first into some hard walls and plateaus. Then approximately 4 months ago I started working with Dylan. In that short space of time, I have become dramatically more technically competent in all my lifts, and I’ve blown through every single previous plateau in my squat, bench, and deadlift.

In his initial in person training session he quickly identified my numerous structural and technical weak points, and built a phenomenal program to address those and lay the foundation for future growth. I truly can’t wait to see where I’m at in another year…2 years…5 years.
He is also incredibly communicative and responsive to the numerous questions that I send him, and I’ve never been disappointed in the quality and depth of knowledge that Dylan possesses. So if you’re unsure about the experience of virtual coaching, as I was, I can only say that I have been incredibly satisfied with it through Dylan.

In short, he’s simply one of the best coaches that I’ve worked with in any sport.

I reached out to Dylan because over about 4-5 years of powerlifting I've experienced pain and discomfort in my legs, difficulty evenly distributing weight between both legs (leading to knee problems), persistent back spasms when benching, and lightheadedness/temporary vision black-out when close to maximum effort. Over the course of several months, Dylan has helped me fixed the issues that I couldn't quite address for years. He's helped me essentially eliminate my back spasms so that I can actually focus on getting stronger on bench. He's helped me fix mechanical issues with my squat and deadlift to help even out distribution of weight during these movements and eliminate the problems that was causing my knees. If you want to grow and flourish as a strength athlete without eventually hurting yourself beyond repair, you need an expert on your side who can keep pushing you to achieve your goals without pushing you in a direction that will lead to injury. The expert you're looking for is Dylan.

I was a little nervous at first to work with an online coach, but my experience with Dylan has been superb. Dylan gives incredible, thoughtful, meticulous feedback that has helped me, in only a couple weeks, begin to eliminate a hip shift that’s been plaguing my squat for months, and some shoulder problems that I’ve had for years. He not only puts time into critiquing the big three lifts, but is just as meticulous and thoughtful about accessories. Dylan knows what he’s doing, and because of that, training with him is a lot of fun. At the time of writing this review I have worked with Dylan of BTS for two months both in-person and remotely. I approached him having lacked direction or consistency of execution in my training for a year prior owing to aches and injuries. Dylan overhauled my technique and training as needed, while being cognizant of what benefitted me in my prior routines. Outside of just programming, he regularly keeps an eye out for technical flaws while directing me to progressively eliminate the lowest hanging fruit. This keeps training uncluttered and frees up time I would have otherwise spent unfruitfully trying to pinpoint and tackle these flaws myself. In my short span under BTS, I have rediscovered progression in my strength while feeling healthier than ever. I am confident that the trajectory Dylan has put me on will grant me long-lasting progress and am excited to continue working with him. I would highly recommend his coaching services for this reason.

I started working with Dylan in May 2019 and my experience has been great, to say nothing of my gains, which have been insane. He made 2 minor adjustments to my squat technique and instantly made me stronger there. There also night and day differences in my bench press and deadlift. Additionally, I'm hitting rep/weight combinations that I've never made before (most recently a 330 squat for 3 at an 8 RPE with no sleeves). I’ve been working with Dylan of Big Three Strength for 7 months now and I’m just about a month out from my first meet with him. I first approached Dylan, who is my 4th powerlifting/strength coach, because for years I’d needed to fix my deadlift form and it just hadn’t happened. So within probably 4-5 months we’d completely overhauled my deadlift form and made major adjustments to my squat and bench press, and even after months of tough form work, Dylan’s programming helped me maintain my deadlift strength and made my squat and bench exponentially stronger.

I also happen to know Dylan as a friend and he is as good a guy as he is a coach. If you’re serious about making adjustments to your form or taking your lifts to the next level (talk to any of his lifters - seriously) I would absolutely recommend Dylan, ESPECIALLY if you’re in the Northern Va/Dc Metro Area and have the ability to take advantage of one on one sessions with him. But even if you only need online/remote coaching, Dylan is so thorough, consistent, and timely in his feedback that you’ll feel like you’re his only client.

Even if you’re just thinking about trying a coach or a program, shoot him an email or a dm on instagram and he’s always glad to help.

Dylan has excellent attention to detail, whether it is through in-person coaching or online coaching. One of the first things that surprised me about him was his ability to pick up on the lesser known or less commonly considered challenges in improving technique. He's a lot of fun to work with and gives excellent feedback. He is direct and does not beat around the bush, which is very much appreciated. Dylan is extremely knowledgeable and tries to be as flexible as possible with his scheduling. He provides a quick feedback turnaround, but does not sacrifice quality. He places an extreme amount of emphasis on technique and body movement. I have never had a powerlifting coach before, but I very much appreciate and highly recommend Dylan. I will say that a concern of mine, when I was originally looking for a coach, was being a female in a male-dominated sport. Dylan is absolutely fantastic though, he has never once pointed out gender-specific challenges or adjustments. An athlete is an athlete in his eyes, and he wants to help us all reach our goals, if not surpass them.

Dylan is the real deal! From brand new to seasoned lifters he can improve your form, technique, and skill in all aspects. He can work around injuries, build on your strengths and figure out the reason for your weaknesses. He is not one to say ‘its good enough’. He will continue to give you patient but firm feedback as many times as you need to hear it. He instills confidence and a tough mindset in his lifters. I am so glad I found Dylan for my coach and looking forward to my powerlifting journey!

I hired Dylan with the intention of working with him for several months to dial in my technique and prep for my first powerlifting meet. After an initial in-person session, which was highly productive, I knew that I wanted to work with Dylan for a lot longer than a single meet prep. Dylan's attention to detail, patience, and coaching abilities are second to none. Over the last 6 months Dylan has completely rebuilt all of my lifts, while at the same time getting me a lot stronger, teaching me about powerlifting, and providing customized monthly programming and nutrition guidance.

I've worked with Dylan in-person and virtually. In-person sessions cannot be fully replicated with virtual coaching, but Dylan gets pretty damn close. He provides timely and concise feedback on every video I send, and knows exactly what cues I need. Dylan has taken the guess work out of training for me, and he takes it a step further than a lot of coaches by actually explaining his programming choices.

I would recommend Dylan to any lifter looking for a world-class coach.

What is there to say about Dylan? Extremely knowledgeable, hands on, patient, the man knows powerlifting. More to the point, he knows coaching. He understands that it’s more than giving you some exercises and saying “have at it”. Constantly analyzing and perfecting technique is the name of the game, and with it comes the strength. Also, as I know a lot of his other lifters, it’s REALLY COOL to see that everyone is doing different exercises, different rep schemes, tempos, etc to work on their specific weaknesses. You’re not being given some template that he tweaks, you receive and individualized program tailored to your goals and needs. Worth every penny as a coach, can’t recommend enough!!

Dylan Smith is the one powerlifting coach I recommend to patients and friends, since his expertise in anatomy, physiology, nutrition and exercise science is unparalleled in his field.
Dylan takes the time to make sure his clients fully comprehend the hows and whys of powerlifting, and it shows in their results. Dylan will even connect with your PT or chiropractor to ensure that his clients' care team is working together. Joining the BTS team is the best decision you could make for your powerlifting career.

I’ve been obsessed with and worked in the fitness field for years and was coming off of a significant lower back injury from squatting heavy with poor technique. I was referred to Dylan by another trainer and decided to work with him after an incredible evaluation session where he broke down the flaws in my technique squatting, deadlifting and bench pressing.

After 3 months of online coaching he has transformed not only my personal lifts, but also improved my ability to explain, demonstrate and coach clients through their strength training as well. I can not recommend Dylan enough to anyone who wants to improve their lifting technique and programming for strength development. He is incredibly knowledgeable and accessible, always giving the why and science behind his approach.

Dylan has been very professional from the start and the initial in person session was very thorough. We figured out what I could and couldn't do alone and the programming is easy to follow. He has made adjustments to my program based on how fast I progressed in some lifts and when we both identified problem areas we scheduled an in person session to work on it. Id recommend him for sure.

Dylan is the man. I’ve been working with him for the last two months. I’ve learned more about lifting in these last couple months than I have in the last five or so years of training on my own. I received Dylan’s business card from one of the gyms he trains at. Making the decision to work with Dylan was quite simple, I watched one video of him squatting and I knew that he would transform my lifts. And he has. My technique, form, and consistency in all of my lifts has and will continue to make dramatic improvements.

I never thought I would work with a strength coach, nevertheless, a virtual one. Working with Dylan has been the best decision I could have made for myself. The route I was going was only heading toward strength limitations and injury. He is incredibly thoughtful and timely with all of his responses. He is patient beyond measure. He is an encyclopedia of knowledge and I know that in continuing to work with him, I will continue to surprise and challenge myself in the gym.

Thank you Dylan for continuing to reshape my mindset and transform my lifts. In Dylan, We Trust!

I’ve been working with Dylan at Big Three Strength for a little over a month now. My friends, family, and coworkers have noticed significant changes in my energy levels, mood, and gains of course! Every week I push a new limit that would’ve taken me twice as long to do before I started working with Dylan.

He works with clients of all levels of fitness. He took my old routines and enhanced them, and even provides great nutrition advice for your lifestyle and habits!! Dylan does it all- and it’s customized for YOU.

My favorite part about working with Dylan is that I’ve had both physical and mental gains. He is so supportive and will celebrate every win with you, whether it’s focused on a big lift or as small as a new plank or push-up PR. Basically, Dylan is a kickass coach and it’s all I’ve been raving about. Take the leap, work with him!!!!

My only goal was to be able to lift one of the dog crates at the animal shelter I volunteer with and not struggle.

That was it. I'm not a hardcore lifter, I'm not a body builder, I don't have any extreme goals. I just want to be strong and be able to do a proper push-up off the floor. I don't think I'm asking for much.

And yet, when I was searching around for a trainer to help me achieve said goals, I decided to go with the person who (in my opinion) has a fairly intense profile and has some pretty extreme photogs of himself on the internet lifting what can only be described as the weight of a small vehicle.

No big deal.

Working with Dylan over the past month has been a mental mind shift for me. I've worked out with trainers in the past and their models are pretty standard: meet at a certain time at the gym, workout until I cry, go home and pray I can move in the morning.

I learned quickly Dylan's philosophy is layered with purpose (you can immediately tell he loves and thrives off what he does) as well as education and science. He studied kinesiology and is more concerned with building a solid foundation and framework so his clients meet their goals in a safe and healthy way.

What? I wasn't going to be jumping over fire and climbing through barbed wire?

Not at all. In fact, he even told me during our initial consultation, working out doesn't have to be over the top, terribly painful, or filled with "cool and sexy" workouts. I could just...lift. I could just make incremental gains and listen to my body. It doesn't have to be hardcore 110% all of the time.

Mind. Blown.

And so I signed up and began our present day routine: he sends me a spreadsheet of that month's workouts and I send him videos he later reviews providing feedback.

I'm not going to lie, taking videos of myself in the beginning was weird. Like I said before, I'm not a hardcore body builder who's comfortable in front of a camera. I'm just an average ass person who wants to live a healthy lifestyle.

But whatever, I quickly got over my initial insecurities of taking videos of myself doing squats, and after a few gym visits hitting record became my "new normal." It's also kind of interesting to watch myself back afterwards and review what I'm actually doing during a set. Ah, yes, my toes do lift slightly when I'm squatting or huh, yeah, I guess I do shift my shoulders forward when I'm doing ring-rows. It forces me to focus when I'm at the gym and pay attention to my movements. Sometimes I want to rush through it all, but most of the time I really just want to get it right so I can have a decent video to send.

I think what I find most impressive, though, is Dylan's philosophy of an independent gym goer. I thought before I'd always need a trainer to be right next to me, pushing me harder or hollering at me to dig deep, or whatever. But it turns out, Dylan was right. He wants his clients to be able to walk into any gym, anywhere, at any time, and know their way around the equipment, the weights, and have a full understanding of their workouts. Sometimes I do wish he could be there 100% of the time to make corrections on the spot, but at the end of the day, that's not what it's about. It's about me, listening to my body, correcting myself, and building a kind of self-confidence you don't get with someone standing right next to you. He's supportive in an independent way, if that makes sense.

Five stars for Big Three Strength. If you've been thinking about getting back into the gym but are unsure of where to start, do yourself a favor and ring up Dylan. He's a man with a plan; a plan specifically tailored for you and your life goals. You may want to be able to lift a tiny home or you may want to just be able to do an unassisted pull-up. Whatever that goal is, I can assure you, Dylan has your back.

Dylan is GREAT! In a world filled with online "coaches" it's hard to find someone who is actually knowledgeable about technique and the sport in general. When I first found Dylan almost two years ago, I was suffering from a chronic hip injury that prevented me from doing almost any kind of squat. Years of bad techniques and bad habits that were never corrected led me to a torn labrum on one side and chronic pain on the other. Other coaches I worked with had me stop squatting all together in hopes the pain would just go away and be mysteriously fixed. The first time I met with Dylan, he had me squatting almost pain free in less than an hour. Anytime the pain creeps back, Dylan is quick to make changes to correct any breakdown in my technique.

Dylan has taught me so many other things besides how to fix my poor technique. He has helped me become a much more "mindful" lifter. He has prevented me from just going through the motions of a session and really focus on continuing to improve and perfect my technique. Whether you are suffering from a chronic injury and looking for guidance, or just want to better yourself as a lifter, Dylan is THE best person to get you there.

Dylan’s one of the most thorough and meticulous coaches I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. His attention to detail and commitment to perfect form in his athletes demonstrates that he stands out compared to other ‘online powerlifting coaches’ in the marketplace that I have tried. Dylan’s coaching style is super engaging, he’s always patient, and will continue to go to the well with you so that you 100% understand a cue or piece of feedback. When it comes to engaging lats, shoulder placement, or a straight bar path Dylan will try almost anything to get you to understand and improve, no matter how experienced you are at powerlifting, there is ALWAYS room for improvement. Powerlifting is a dangerous sport where injuries are common, and each time I step into the the gym I’m confident that I am working on the most technically sound form - one that my chiropractor would be proud of. For the price of his coaching services, Dylan overdelivers on the quality, frequency and speed of coaching. I highly recommend his services.

This is my first experience with video (virtual) coaching. It's a really effective system. 4 months into working with Dylan, I still record at least one set of each lift at each workout and send it to him for comment. He always returns a comment before the next workout. It's amazing how technical such a simple thing as a deadlift can be - what could be simpler than "stand up"? The result is that all the lifts feel much more stable than they did a few months ago. He will share and explain to you as much as you want on any of the aspects of setting up programming, nutrition, preparing for meet day, etc. I prefer to just come and do what I'm told, and he's good with that as well. Super happy with program.

Dylan has made a point to be extremely specific about what he's looking for in the technique of my lifts and has really held me to a high standard of execution. His programming is very specific to the areas that I need the most work - this is NOT a one-size fits all program. My journey with Dylan and Big Three Strength started a few months ago. I had already been lifting recreationally for 15 years. I was a personal trainer for 5 years and have a degree in Kinesiology. My shoulders were aching, my knees were aching, and my lower back was aching. My physique did not look like a person who had been lifting for 15 years. I decided to do one of the hardest, ego deflating things I’ve ever done. I got honest with myself and realized that I was doing something wrong. I found Dylan through The Shop Gym in Manassas. I set up a one on one appointment with Dylan. I sent him some video so he knew what to expect. As I suspected, my ailments and issues were due to poor form. My knees ached because my squat was too high, my back ached because my deadlift form was all wrong, my shoulders hurt because my form was wrong.

When I met with Dylan, I decided to just let my ego go and let him work his magic. Within 5 minutes, I was squatting below parallel. He booked me for a 2 hour session, but ultimately gave me 3 hours of his time. That initial assessment gave me a great platform to start from. I knew this was the beginning of a great thing because I was feeling the workout in areas that I have never felt before

Over the last 10 weeks, through virtual coaching, Dylan has been able to dissect my form, give me great cues and pointers, and send my strength skyrocketing. I am seeing bumps in my strength on a weekly basis and I am experiencing muscle growth like the first year I started lifting. Best of all, my knees and back don’t hurt and my shoulder is healing up. I no longer feel pain when I bench.

I was a little skeptical about virtual coaching at first, but I find it to be a very effective tool. Dylan is prompt with his responses so I get my feedback and have something to focus on during my next session. In hindsight, this has been one of the best investments I have ever made in myself. I wish I could go back in time and work with him when I first started lifting.

Dylan has a lot of knowledge combined with just as much passion. I've been with him for a couple of months now and all of my old injuries are gone. I had been lifting for a few years with what I thought was a decent understanding of the 3 major movements. I started off with the technical session with Dylan in which we worked through the movements of the 3 major lifts. He was able to break down and explain why certain things are better in certain positions. Not only was he able to explain it though, he was able to communicate it in such a manner that it was easily digestible.

I have recommended many of my fellow power lifters to Dylan and they have been happy with Technical sessions or Dylan's coaching program. At The Shop Gym in Manassas where a few of us reside and train with Dylan. It has also been really nice to see a few other colleagues that have been able to work with Dylan to find an action plan to resolve injuries and move on our way to bigger numbers. I recommend anyone looking for coaching or just thinking about taking the next step to at least pick his brain. He really does care about his lifters and his coaching program. You won't get someone that just gives you thumbs ups. You'll have someone that you bounce daily lift video's off of with valueable feedback each time to get better. Hope this was helpful! Dylan is a true expert of weightlifting and is excellent at sharing his knowledge with others in order to maximize their results. He ensures that everything is done the correct way, focusing on ideal form in order to minimize injury risk, all while finding ways to bring clients to strength peaks that they never knew were possible. Knowing that Dylan has spent so much time striving to be as knowledgeable as possible about all aspects of weight lifting gives me the confidence to know that listening to him will lead to excellent results.

I recently completed Dylan’s 12 week bench press program and hit a PR of 315 pounds upon completion. Prior to the program, I was really slacking in the gym, not benching anything over 185 pounds and just doing a lot of reps for a couple of months. I had also never been able to bench anything over 275 at any point in my life. His program was incredibly easy to get started on, was fun to do and had me motivated to go to the gym again. Without ever feeling like I was pushing my body too hard, and rarely even getting sore, my strength skyrocketed and I now benefit from knowing all of the new lifts that I learned.

I will now be continuing with Dylan on a full workout plan, and cannot wait to thrive with the results.

The level of attention, personalization, and individual investment you will receive from working with Dylan is nearly impossible to find anywhere else. He is as knowledgeable as anyone I've ever met but the real difference is how much actual coaching you'll get. He doesn't simply write my programming and wish me luck. As a competitive powerlifter with very dynamic training needs and work schedule, Dylan exceeds all my expectations. If I have to miss a lift he's modifying my training schedule that week within a few hours to accommodate me. If I'm injured he interfaces directly with my physical therapist to develop a comprehensive rehabilitation plan to get me back on the platform in top shape as soon as possible. I provide videos from almost every training session and get direct, actionable feedback, often in real time on how I can further improve my technique. I could go on forever but the bottom line is this: if you're serious about drastically improving your strength training your time, effort, and money will NOT be wasted here. I have been in pain for years and after one session with Dylan, he immediately identified and corrected some flaws with my technique that were contributing to my pain. It was challenging and humbling to say the least. But one session of feeling virtually pain free is a huge win. Dylan is the truth! I think anyone who is looking for a passionate and detail-oriented coach should look no further!

I used to be a cardio nut! For lack of knowledge with the weights and I just found it extremely intimidating. Dylan introduced me to the weights and I’ve never looked back! He’s a stickler for form and that has been my saving grace! 4 years later I’m still weight training and I love every bit of it thanks to him! He really loves what he does and demands perfection in the best way! I’d recommend him to anyone a thousand times over! Thanks for all you do!

Coming from a bodybuilding background of lifting, it was very eye opening to learn the big 3 lifts from Dylan. I struggled to make consistent strength gains on my own without injuring myself. I took advantage of his virtual coaching. He was able to give great directions through one on one training and virtual coaching. He was very patient with me when I struggled to get certain lifting cues. Also his programming is amazing! My CNS felt intact the whole time and I made consistent gains. I now can can perform all 3 lifts very comfortably and confidently. I look forward to having him in my corner for my first powerlifting meet. Best of all I have been able to avoid the forbidden city... Snap City! ;P Thank you Dylan!

It’s hard to find a powerlifting coach that knows what they’re talking about and cares about your development. Dylan has been my coach for over a year now, and has helped me from day 1 (where I knew I was strong), and shown me that I have much more potential. He was also my coach when I broke my foot, and patiently helped/continuously changed my programming on the fly to make sure I was progressing and not getting frustrated as I got my strength back. I feel like he’s constantly there around the clock if needed, and is only a text/call/etc. away. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable powerlifting coach that practices what he preaches, as well as gives you a personally tailored program, Big Three Strength is where you’ll find it with Dylan.

Dylan is one of the best strength coaches in the game. His attention to detail is impressive and displays the high level Dylan holds himself and his athletes accountable. He is proficient at breaking down movement, explaining and teaching proper positioning and technique, based on the individual, so that each and every one of his athletes move in the best manner possible. There is no one size fits all approach here. He will invest just as much time and energy as you will invest in yourself when working under his tutelage.

P.S. his beard game is strong!

I am a gym owner and have been a CPT for 7 years as my full time career. I recently worked virtually with Dylan for 7 months and cannot mention enough positives about the experience. I am not a competitive power lifter but do always train the big 3 and place a heavy emphasis on strength. With the guidance of his very prompt feedback via text, voice text and even custom video responses, he was able to drastically improve the technical proficiency of all my lifts. Not only the big 3 but accessory movements as well, I added 15lbs to my DL and 20 to my BP. For my squat, we did a complete overhaul and basically started from scratch. I tied my previous PR with very clean form and good speed compared to a slow as molasses, open scissor, Good morning squat. The feedback I receive from Dylan not only helps my lifts it helps me as a coach with my own clients. The wealth of knowledge you receive for the absolutely affordable monetary rates he offers are not even comparable!

Power lifter or not, Big Three Strength can lead you to your strongest self!

I have been training with Dylan for four years. As a woman in my 50s strength is more important than ever. Four years ago I was weak and was suffering from neck and back issues from years of tennis. Through proper stretching and good form Dylan has helped me become stronger now than I was in my 20s. Today I can squat (PR 180lbs) bench (PR 101 lbs) trapbar deadlift (PR 217lbs) and consistently maintain my weight at 116lbs. I always struggled with stupid diets and now I can eat a healthy normal diet with carbs and feel great during my workouts. I do personal training sessions and virtual coaching with Dylan. He will give you 110% every time. Dylan is an excellent coach and passionate about his work. I highly recommend working with him.

I have been training with Dylan since Since April 2017. I initially was only looking for someone that could coach me through a peak before my first meet... 9 months later I'm honored to still call him coach. As other reviewers have stated, Dylan is not only incredibly knowledgeable, but he is by far one of the most eloquent people I know. It's one thing to know how to train and lift, it's another thing to explain and teach. Dylan is an excellent teacher and is able to convey the intricacies of lifting technique in an easily digestible and clear way. I cannot overemphasize how essential this has been to my success since training with Dylan.

Dylan encourages his lifters to take ownership of their training and progress. He has shared with me resources that have broadened my own knowledge in training. While he may not write my programming forever, I will forever rely on him for guidance. If you're looking for someone to help you get to higher level in training, reach out to him. You won't regret it.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Dylan for the past 6 years. I have been a colleague, fellow lifter, and athlete under his guidance during that time, so I believe I can attest to his quality as a coach with much detail.
Dylan’s ability to coach if of the highest quality. He approaches his job with a high degree of professionalism, while making his lifters feel comfortable and cared for. He takes his job very seriously and along with that comes his detail oriented approach to giving his lifters the feedback they need (not the feed back they want to hear). While I have seen most “coaches/trainers” give disingenuous and, to be honest, glib feedback (i.e. “great job”, “looking strong”, etc), Dylan is not afraid to feed his athletes the advice they need to improve as lifters. If you are going to pay for a coach you should have honest feedback.

Dylan also has been an awesome game day coach when it comes to meet day. I have had him in my corner at local, national, and international level meets, and I can always trust that he can make the right calls on my behalf. Dylan has experience with handling high caliber lifters as well as pure beginners. No matter what your skill level is, Dylan goes above and beyond the call of duty to make sure you have a productive and successful meet.

Dylan himself is also a coach that walks and walk. He’s an experienced lifter that knows what its like to be in a lifters shoes.

To wrap things up Dylan is a top-quality coach. He takes pride in his lifters and derives as much, if not more, satisfaction from seeing his lifters succeed, as they would themselves. If you are looking for a coach that will deliver in the departments for programming, coaching, and meet day handling, look no further.

I've been training with Dylan for 6 years, and can't say enough good things about him. I have always been active, and over the years have belonged to a few gyms where I would do cardio and a circuit of machines. I've even had trainers set up a program with the machines and a very few free weights. It wasn't until I started training with Dylan that I learned that it was possible to do some serious strength training to stay in shape and healthy without risk of issues from an old knee injury. He has helped me learn how to train the right way, and achieve my fitness goals.

I am not a competitive lifter, but rather a professional who leads an active life and wants to stay healthy. Dylan is making that possible. When I started working with him 6 years ago, I trained with him multiple times a week. I have transitioned to virtual coaching and regular schedule of in- person sessions. With his expertise and programming my training sessions fit into my schedule and lifestyle, and ensure that I can train no matter where I am. I highly recommend him!

Have trained with Dylan for years with fantastic results. He is a highly educated professional with over a decade of competition experience for a fraction of the cost of gym membership plus trainer.

My Experiance: I'm not a lifter, just an injured Marine. 25 years ago I damaged my back in the Marine Corps Infantry with no relief except doctor suggested surgery. I started working with Dylan due to his experience, he redeveloped my entire body and nutrition, thus strengthening my back without strain. All the while, I dropped 20+ lbs and 4 pant sizes back down to my Marine Corps days.

The Virtual Training: After lifting in the gym to educate me on proper form, Dylan then created a virtual training program to perform at home. This gave me even more flexibility to train on my own schedule and reduced the training costs as it is no longer on his time too. Dylan's program allows me to communicate and video my lifts while tracking my progress. He will then analyze and respond with insight and motivation. This bit of monitoring is a great way to stay on top of the training as self-motivation does not work so well with me or most people for that matter. Once a month Dylan will meet with you at his gym in Manassas or at your home gym as a tune up on your techniques and progress.

I highly recommend training with Dylan.

I received coaching from Dylan for about two years, utilizing both his in person and virtual coaching. Dylan's down to earth, no nonsense coaching is the real deal. He expects his clients to practice like they play, and this attitude towards training pays dividends on meet day. Dylan's game day coaching is also top notch, unsurprisingly since he has extensive experience both competing himself and handling lifters.
His programming is extremely effective, as is evidenced by the fact that when I started training with him, I couldn't even squat 95#, and squatted 342# at my last meet. Dylan's attention to detail in his client's form is exceptional, and his analysis of form and cues are very helpful. He is extremely timely with his responses to lifting videos and questions.
My last meet prep, I was unable to train with Dylan in person due to living far away from his gym. however, he had equipped me so well up to that point that I was able to really grow as a lifter during this meet prep on my own, while also knowing he was only a text message away when I had questions or needed video critiques. I would highly recommend Dylan's training to all powerlifters, and anyone who wants to get strong. Put in the work, and you will absolutely reap the benefits of his training.

Nothing but good things to say about B3S. Dylan has totally taken me under his wing for the past year and it has been by far the most productive and transformative time of my whole life. His programming is simple to the untrained eye but his approach and methods are very nuanced. Needless to mention his in-person technique work can get about as involved as open heart surgery (especially for the bench press) when necessary, and I mean that in the best way possible. He is an impossibly nice person too, and his game day coaching is top shelf. To speak of my own experiences with him: in the past year, my squat has gone from 340lbs to 463lbs, bench from 200lbs to 308lbs, and deadlift from a wheelchair-imminent 455lbs to a solid, flat-backed 562lbs.

As a soccer player, cheerleader and runner, I did a ton of cardio and zero strength training. I didn’t even know that I needed strength training when I asked Dylan about my shin splits. After putting me through an in depth, no stone left unturned first training session of he asked me, “Nice work! Where is your protein now?” It was that day, about seven years ago, that I learned that I loved strength training because I got Muscle Milk afterward!

That above story is true and in all seriousness, he took this cardio bunny to USA Powerlifting Mid-Atlantic Regionals in August 2017 and I placed 4th in my weight class. 135lb+ bench (the plates and the bar) I can now rep out. A pull up which was once impossible, is now a common thing to see sets of, in the Virtual Coaching that I get from Dylan monthly.
