I stumbled upon Whole Heart Space when I was freshly postpartum. As an avid exerciser pre-pregnancy, my body and soul longed for movement. As an extrovert on maternity leave, I longed for social interaction. And as a first-time mom, I longed for connection and support. Whole Heart Space fulfilled those desires. Their collaboration with Goldfish Swim was a wonderful opportunity for our water baby in the Winter. But Mobile Babies Yoga with Katie Painter was hands-down my favorite class! If you're looking for a low-stress, high-yielding activity, then look no further. Come as you are and leave a better version of you. Reset mentally and physically. Rachel has built something special. Experience it for yourself!

The Whole Heart Space is a space like no other. I went for the first time to a Doula Meet and Greet event and I was able to get connected with birth doulas, postpartum doulas, photographers, and even an NP who helps with nutrition. The event was phenomenal and well organized. I could not believe what a well designed and intentional space that it was, and I was very grateful for the free event that was open to all. I'm excited to try some of their classes post partum because I was blown away by everyone's friendliness and what a welcoming community environment this is.

Love this community! Pump class is a great workout and mobile babies yoga is so doable with littles. If you’re pregnant or have babies, toddlers, little kiddos this is the place to be for yoga, workout classes and community.

This place is wonderful! I started coming during pregnancy and now continue with the postpartum classes. I bring my baby with me many time, which makes it so convenient. It’s not just a place to work out and stretch—it’s also a supportive community where you can connect with other moms and learn about self-care. I’m so thankful to have this resource in our community!

This studio is an amazing resource for new parents. I attended a pre natal yoga class with my expecting friend. It was very friendly, informative and resourceful as they have free classes and cultivate a strong community.

Started practicing here at 9 weeks and still doing online classes almost 2 years postpartum and living on the other side of the country (shoutout to the online summer series!!). The most inclusive, safe and fun place to practice yoga, work out and ensure you’re filling up your cup in the crazy but wonderful journey that is parenthood.

Whole Space has truly become a safe haven for me during my pregnancy. The staff and instructors are incredibly supportive and knowledgeable, creating such a welcoming and comforting environment.

One of the things I love most is that every class starts with a “getting to know you” round. It’s such a wonderful way to connect with other moms and share experiences—it’s reassuring to relate to others who are on the same journey.

I also appreciate that this studio feels like a judgment-free zone. I can ask any question, no matter how small, without ever feeling silly or out of place. The sense of community and encouragement here is unmatched, and I leave every session feeling more relaxed, confident, and supported.

I could not be more thankful that I found this studio during my pregnancy! It has been so helpful to be around expecting moms and new moms as I navigated pregnancy and now early motherhood. The classes are amazing and I always feel better after taking them. Especially during pregnancy, it was so refreshing to be able to exercise in a room where people understand you and no one stares at how big you are!
The other learning classes that are offered are also so helpful! Highly recommend the new parent meetups!
Whole Heart Space has also given me a network of new mom friends that has been invaluable during this crazy postpartum time.
Like honestly I can’t recommend it enough! You won’t regret it!!

Such an amazing place! Very supportive and caring employees and other parents who go here. They truly welcome you as you are, even when you’re running late, have a screaming baby, or covered in baby spit up. Highly recommend for anyone pregnant or with young kids who could use some more support out just need to get out of the house for a bit! No previous yoga experience needed.

I absolutely love whole heart space! I wish I had known it existed when I was pregnant with my son! We have been in baby+me yoga for about 5 months and absolutely love the teachers we have encountered! They don’t hesitate to help with babies. This is my best resource as a new mom. Without whole heart space I would be sequestered in my home with my son wishing I had somewhere to go to get out of the house! 10/10 I always recommend WHS to friends.

Carly's infant massage class gave my partner an intimate way to connect with our baby similar to how I connect with him through breastfeeding. It's part of the bedtime routine now, and our baby gets so happy and excited when he realizes it's massage time! I'm so appreciative of Carly's flexibility and the way she structured intentional moments for parents to talk and find community in the class. I credit massage with improvements in my baby's reflux, tummy troubles, and general disposition. My partner and I felt incredibly welcome in this space as queer parents. Rachel has curated something really special at Whole Heart.

Whole Heart Space is truly unlike any other place in Richmond. I started classes when I was 16 weeks pregnant, and it was the community and space I needed throughout my pregnancy. They have a variety of classes, and a bonus is you can bring your little one with you! I look forward to attending postpartum, and highly recommend this space for your pregnancy journey.

Reflecting on my positive birthing experience, I owe it all to Whole Heart Space. As a first-time mom to a 5-month-old, I initially underestimated the importance of the mind-body connection. Motherhood proved to be more physically demanding than I had anticipated, but discovering this studio enabled me to develop a deeper awareness of my body. In particular, Katie's intervallic labor course was incredibly empowering and stood out as a highlight of my prenatal journey.

Katie taught us to view contractions as waves, something to breathe through rather than fear. This perspective was transformative, helping me navigate labor with greater calm and confidence. I can't imagine how different my pregnancy experience might have been without the supportive community and insightful guidance I found at Whole Heart Space.

For any mom seeking to strengthen both her physical wellness and sense of community, I strongly recommend this studio. The support and knowledge I gained there were invaluable, shaping not only my birthing experience but also my transition into motherhood. I am deeply grateful to everyone at Whole Heart Space for the incredible work they do and the positive impact they had on my journey.

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place! From our very first visit, I felt so welcomed and supported with my toddler. We've been doing the "mobile babies" yoga class, and it's been a wonderful opportunity to get in some stretching and have an activity together. I also deeply appreciate how "mama friendly" the entire studio is and how they offer a sliding pay scale. Truly a gem!

Whole Heart Space is the most welcoming community. I've been coming here since I found out I was pregnant in Spring '23 and they've been with me every step of my journey. My first experience was a class for pregnancy post loss and I remember feeling so supported by people I had just met. I went to various prenatal classes throughout my pregnancy and appreciated having a safe space to share my pregnancy experiences - positive and negative - and learn from other moms/moms to be. We also took Katie's Navigating Birth class and loved it; it helped us feel prepared for delivery and postpartum and empowered to know all our different options throughout our birth journey. Now postpartum being able to bring my daughter to classes and having the opportunity to meet and bond with other parents has been a lifesaver. I so deeply appreciate being able to bring her with me to classes and specifically having classes that provide us an opportunity to bond. WHS is a safe space I've/we've felt comfortable in since the beginning - whether it's having space to breastfeed, bottle feed, vent or bond. Could not recommend joining their community or classes enough!

I love this place. I have always struggled to find group exercise classes where I felt like I fully “fit in” and from my very first class at Whole Heart I felt like I was right at home. All of the instructors do such a great job of providing options so no matter where you are in experience or in your parenting journey you can make adjustments to still get a phenomenal yoga experience!
I look forward to coming back every week! Can’t say enough great things about this place. They also provide a ton of incredible community resources and inclusive birthing classes. My spouse is non-binary and we have struggled to find a space where they are safe to be themself and be comfortable and excited about their role as a non birthing parent that’s often designated just for “Dad”’s.
If you’re thinking about trying a class JUST DO IT! We will all be so excited to see you there.

I can’t say enough great things about this space. I moved to Richmond right when we found out I was pregnant with our first, and I was having a tough time navigating so many big life changes. I am SO glad I found Whole Heart Space when I did. They have created such a safe, welcoming, and warm environment and I truly look forward to every class I attend. From their yoga classes to Navigating Birth series with Katie, they’ve given me not only a place for self-care and reflection, but a place to learn about my ever changing body and all that comes along with pregnancy/labor/delivery. I cannot recommend them enough!!!

Truly love this studio to my core! I started going to Whole Heart Space when it first opened and when I was 7 months pregnant. I attended classes through my 40th week and then picked up as soon as I could post-partum. It is like a safe haven through all stages of family planning, pregnancy, and motherhood. If you are looking for a community that is open, caring, and inclusive, this is the place for you!

I attended a post natal yoga class with Rachel at Whole Heart Space because it worked for my schedule. It was my first yoga class and it definitely won’t be my last. I can’t wait to try the pre natal yoga class! She was helpful in guiding and offering support for a beginner. Such a great way to reconnect with community and my body!

Before I had my baby, I didn’t notice how hard it was to navigate the world with a newborn. This place is great, the classes/teachers are great, but what stands out is how you can just actually exist there as a new parent. There are two restrooms with changing tables and supplies of all kinds. There’s a private, quiet room. There’s water and mats, there are people there to watch your baby while you run to grab something. There is flexibility about class passes and running late. The reason that I make the drive across town is that I can actually relax enough to do yoga here. I don’t have to think about childcare or where to discreetly change a diaper, or if I can leave class for a bathroom break, or how to time feeding/napping/etc with a newborn. I took prenatal classes, and now I take postnatal classes with and without my baby. Just having the option to bring baby along was a lifesaver during my leave from work. They get it, and it’s such a nice respite.

I’m so glad I found Whole Heart Space when I was pregnant. The first class I took was their partner yoga class during and it was a really great experience so I signed up for the unlimited membership. They offer a variety of classes from power pop-ups to prenatal pump and candlelight yoga — the instructors meet you where you are and are wonderful at creating a space for everyone and there’s a variety of classes to meet your needs.

The community Whole Heart Space has created is really special. From workshops and doula meet and greets to having a space to breastfeed and hangout or post items you need/have, the extra support and sense of community is really special.

A teacher at my child’s daycare recently asked me how I have so many parent-friends. Without hesitation I responded: Whole Heart Space! With a variety of classes for every stage of parenthood, this studio is all about giving folks space to move through their parenting journey together - in community. From prenatal yoga to baby & me classes to dad’s group meetups, Whole Heart Space has provided my whole family with opportunities to meet and connect with others who are also on the wild ride of parenthood.

I have been a member since WHS opened and it has been an honor to share in the community there. I even booked a private group yoga class and the care and attention we were given from Rachel at booking and Shaniqua during class exceeded all my expectations. I will absolutely do that again and look forward to continuing my weekly classes!

Love this sweet little studio. Such a wonderful community of parents and families. I’ve been attending Baby + Me yoga for nearly 4 months now, and attended prenatal yoga with Rachel (the owner) for my whole pregnancy. I have nothing but positive things to say about the studio, the teachers, the support system of other families, the classes, and the space. Highly recommend, especially for soon-to-be or new mamas.

I’m so glad Whole Heart Space opened just in time for my first trimester. It was wonderful to have a class that was specifically geared toward the anxiety, exhaustion, and nausea that comes with early pregnancy. Rachel thought of everything and the community here is really special.
