This is the place to be if you want the best bang for your buck! I recently started going to Workout Anytime and I have no regrets. Not only is it affordable, but it has plenty of machine and free weights for a well rounded and vigorous workout. The Staff are all very kind and helpful when I have any questions. My favorite thing about this gym is that no matter what time it is I can workout at anytime!

It has its flaws, cleanliness being the main downfall, in my opinion. The showers are disgusting (at least in the men’s locker room; I can’t speak for the women’s.)
The Hip Thrust machine has been broken (but not out of order) for at least 4ish months, and there is only one of each machine.
The 3D body scan machine they advertise is laughable, honestly, it borders on dangerous to overweight people learning to track their health. I had their 3D scan done and was told I was 24% body fat, I then had a Bod Pod scan (a very accurate body composition scale) done and was told I was actually 44% body fat – a 20% delta is insane. The next time I had the 3D scan done I was told I was 20% body fat, when the Bod Pod scan told me I was 32% - “only” 12% delta, but still insane.
They have a big marker board reminding employees to ask for google reviews, but apparently not to remind them to clean the locker rooms.
It's two stars instead of one because it’s cheap, I don’t expect perfection, but cleanliness would go a long way.

Update: it’s even more of a headache to cancel your membership. Even if you have the membership that lets you cancel anytime they keep charging you.They also never call or email you back. Avoid this place.

The personal trainer program is a scam. I had it and never got all the meal plans I was supposed to get. When I tried to cancel it they made me keep it another month and I never got any of the training or meal plans that’s supposed to come with it. The gym itself is okay, a wide variety of equipment. There is always something broken unfortunately and seems to just never get fixed.

This was the first gym I'd ever gotten a membership at. It was very affordable, they had every machine I could hope to use, even during peak hours I was able to get a solid workout in, the place was clean, all of the staff were friendly and helpful, the other members were polite and used proper gym etiquette. Never had a bad experience in the full year I was there. Only cancelled membership because I moved further away. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants a good gym at an affordable price.

Pros:
-variety of machines
-multiple platforms, smiths, and cables
-amenities for the premium membership

Cons:
-Even though I would see someone cleaning whenever I was in there, this location was rather dirty. Dust built up on floor around weight racks and machine bases, uneven parts of the padded flooring you have to watch for, a leaking window by the treadmills with peeling paint.

-Only 1 linear press, 1 leg curl, and 1 extension. It can be hard to get time on these machines in the morning, and often times I would struggle to find enough 45s for the press if other members are also using plate loaded machines. Ultimately you CAN work around this, but if you’re on a strict program or time schedule it is inconvenient

-They advertise the back room as exclusive for premium members and classes, with its separate scanner to enter. The problem with that claim is, those doors are always open and anyone can use the space/equipment. It makes paying extra less of a worthy incentive.

Comparing prices, yearly fees, equipment, and cleanliness, I ultimately canceled my membership here as there are better options in the city.

Workout Anytime Lynchburg is one of the best values in town. The gym has an assortment of cardio machines, pin and plate loaded equipment, with dumbbells up to 100 pounds. The premium membership is affordable, and comes with extras such as sauna, massage chairs, tanning, red light, and monthly body scans.

The staff there treats you like friends, always welcoming you by name. Zach at the front desk is always happy to see you, always takes care of your needs, and does a great job keeping the gym clean! He’s an exemplarily employee, and represents the company well.

People who run it were great! Corporate policy of charging for a month after you cancel, not so much. I was even moving to another location. In addition, they use a third party customer service who have zero ability to make a judgement call. Oh, almost forgot, you can't call gym directly. Left a voicemail and no return call. I've switched to this gym about 2 months ago from Planet Fitness. The gym is small but don't take that as a negative. This gym offers quite a bit more for just a little more than PF. First off this gym has a real bench press and incline bench on top of machines that PF doesn't offer. The free weights go to a much higher weight. This gym has dry saunas which is a game changer. The massage chair blows planet fitness chairs out ofte water. Only issue is the showers can use more TLC (particularly the bottom walls). For the money this gym is superb 👌.

EDIT: Shortly after the response to this review, we were called by someone from the company to figure out what happened and once again they didn't seem to know what the actual policy was.

According to the information given:

1. The employee who sold us the membership apparently misspoke and was let go shortly after. She implied that we could NOT cancel at any time. (Not sure how someone "misspoke" multiple times, but okay, sure)

2. We actually could have canceled this entire time, the 3rd party that manages calls sent us the wrong email with the wrong information. (We were asked to forward to email for proof)

3. The gym doesn't "require" doctors orders to cancel, that's only for if you can't use the equipment due to injury. But we could have canceled without it anyway.

I've attached a screenshot of the section of the contract we blindly signed regarding the policy. I had to dig through email to find it, since we didn't get one at the location.

I'm not sure what the issue here is with communication between departments. I highly suggest that senior management addresses this as soon as possible to avoid this happening to anyone else.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Make sure you read the fine print in your contract and DO NOT believe the associate that sells it to you.

We came in to consider doing a month to month contract for this gym. After going on a tour we decided it seemed like a great deal. We started going over the pros and cons with our associate and I made asked MULTIPLE times if we could cancel the long term contract at any time. Every time I asked, I got the same answer.

"Yes, you can cancel at any time and you'll only have to pay a $99 cancelation fee."

There was NO MENTION of it needing to be within 3 days or under a doctors order claiming disability or injury. Oh, they apparently also have the right to order a physical to prove your claim.

We weren't given a contract to look over during our meeting. We were given an injury wavier to sign, that's it.

We finally called and AGAIN we were told we can can absolutely cancel if we want to.

About 30 minitea later we received an email stating the actual cancelation policy. This also stated we are UNABLE to cancel our membership within a year.

We are basically STUCK paying for a gym that is a pain to go to during the day.

It reality, it was an oversight on my part. However, we were straight up lied to, multiple times, during multiple parts of this conversation.

Please don't take what the Associates say as fact. Ask for the contract up front before signing to save yourself the headache.

I have recently cancelled my membership with Workout Anytime after one year. The facility itself is very clean and well organized. I think that this gym would be a great option for anyone who’s looking for a standard gym. Initially I signed up for a membership because I continued seeing advertisements on TikTok. There was a Visa card offer for signing up as well. Last year at this time I decided to give this gym a try. When I first walked in there was no one at the front to greet me, they were short staffed at the time. After waiting a few minutes someone was there to help. I asked questions and received a tour of the gym. After signing up I was told I’d be receiving a gift card in the mail. I waited about a week before asking someone else about the gift card. I was then told I’d be receiving it via email. I never received it. It wasn’t a big deal so I let it go. On December 28, 2023, I sent an email to the general manager, Ian, asking when I could cancel my membership and I explained to him what happened with the gift card. He apologized and was very kind and understanding. He agreed to not charge me for two months because of the situation with the gift card and told me that I could come in in March to cancel the membership. Sometime in February I received a call from someone at the gym asking me how things were going and I explained to them that I wanted to cancel my membership. The person that I spoke with told me that I could call or come in on March 3rd to cancel. March 3rd was on a Sunday and that day I called but I did not receive an answer. On March 4th I went to the gym to cancel in person. After speaking, with the first associate, she went to the office to get the general manager to see if I could possibly get a refund, seeing as though my card was charged on March 3rd. The general manager, McKenna came to front desk and told me that she could cancel, but she would have to speak with her district manager about giving me the refund. She agreed to call me in two days, but instead sent an email the same day explaining to me that they would not be able to give me a refund. Initially, when I spoke with her in person on the fourth, she was very cold and dismissive. She barely made eye contact and was not understanding whatsoever. It was extremely obvious that talking to me was not her primary. She had the nerve to tell me that my situation was not a priority. She explained that if a piece of gym equipment was down, that would be more important, so it just may be a few days until she can contact me. Her objective was to get me out of there as soon as possible so she wouldn’t have to deal with me. I feel as though she didn’t care, it showed in her face and her attitude. Without saying much, she showed me everything I needed to know. She showed me that she did not care, and she showed me that it did not matter. I told her that this was not acceptable and she responded by saying you signed a contract stating that you would have to give give 30 days notice to cancel when in fact, I gave notice in December. After telling her I called on the third and didn’t get an answer, her explanation was “Well, we’re not always at the front counter to answer the phone. We can’t hear it.” I sent an email on the day of the third saying that I wanted to cancel my membership and there was another excuse for why that email wasn’t answered. I appreciate the fact that the previous general manager did offer great customer service, but the current GM, McKenna should probably take a course on how to properly offer effective customer service skills. The experience I had with McKenna Stoner was not great.

I have been a certified personal trainer for over 10 Years and this is by far the best gym I have ever been a member of. Being an outdoor trainer I am not much for the gawking crowds most gyms entertain however this gym is a perfect mixture of getting down to business and socializing at some points. The premium membership is the way to go! Boxing, Sauna, Red Light Room, Massage Beds/Chair etc and for only $35 … Pshh hands down the best deal around. The staff is super professional and friendly and will help whenever needed and they will not hesitate to address any concerns. Thank you workout anytime for bringing “good gym ethics” back to this area!

I like the people who work there. The facility is clean. It's not usually too crowded, and the other patrons keep to themselves. I also signed up during a great promotion period, and the price is great.

I signed up for an annual membership, which expired back in October. However, I kept getting charged because they, for some reason, think that wanting a one year membership means that we want a month to month once the annual membership expires. I didn’t want to pay because I wanted it cancelled after the 1 year, but the manager was rude and threatened to send me to collections. There’s no empathy or common sense at this place.. not to mention the creepy guy who was impressed with my powerlifting, but proceeded to ask me to hangout at his house (I’m 24 and he was at least 45)

Worst workout place ever!!! Month to month, still requires an "Annual fee". Out of all the facilities, this has to be the biggest business joke ever. They should be selling multi-level marketing! Choose another facility. They want fees for credit cards, less ACH, month to month, but then they also require an annual fee. Don't even waste your time, choose someplace else that's more transparent. Seems like a Fraud.

They're basic plan versus their premium plan, fees are more expensive. Also, it looks like they pray upon people who request a monthly, but they sign them up for an annual.

Predatory business practices. Be warned that they might sign you up for an annual rate, even though you select monthly .

Overall, their facility is ok, they possess a decent amount of equipment that appears to be new and in proper working order. Unfortunately, their online advertised hours do not match the actual gym hours when staff will be present. I only mention this because of the 14 day free trial only allows you in when staff members are present. I went to go work out on three separate occasion during the staffed hours and no staff was present to let me in. Making it difficult to get a real feel for a fluid workout experience.

Worked with Cody. He was very informative and helpful for someone just getting back to the gym again. They have plans for you to work with trainers and are also a part of the Sliver Sneakers program for Medicare. Very clean gym and newer technology for body scanning. Also has tanning, saunas and red light therapy.

Gym is good. Staff is friendly and keeps the facility clean. Biggest issue is lack of equipment. They have just about everything you need however the only have 2 free barbell squat racks. Even more unfortunate is they are the deadlift pads as well so only 2 people can squat or deadlift at the same time. I would love to see it expand and more equipment added.

I want to love this gym but every time I come in it is insanely packed. There are no machines, or squat racks available and there’s a total of 3 benches to use. I have been going here for months and it is SO defeating when you finally get to come to the gym and then you can’t even workout.

My 17 year old signed up online 2 days ago and thought he was getting a month to month membership but instead signed a annual contract. So far I have spoken to 5 individuals who can't correct this. To cancel he will be hit with a $99 fee along with losing what he paid to sign up. There should be a easy way to change a yearly membership to a monthly without all this. They have no GM and supposedly Scott (who I can't reach) is the only one who can fix this. I was told I could reach him this morning but he's on his way to Tennessee. I have left my name and number and I'm still waiting for a call. (Update... I was told the membership would be canceled and all fees reimbursed. I called again today 03-29-23 because we still haven't received the sign up fee. I was told the cancelation was pending. Edit 4-19-23 never saw reimbursement for 48.99 sign up fee. He never used this membership.

I agree with the other reviewer regarding the gym being too crowded. This is not a large gym like the other local gyms in the area (Planet Fitness, Kinetix). The workout equipment is too close together and it can feel cluttered, especially when others are working out right next to you. Contrary to popular belief that COVID is over, I still would like to maintain some sort of personal space.

My other concern is the cleanliness, or possible lack thereof. They seem to have ran out of sanitizing wipes and you never see staff cleaning (at least during the times that I go, can't speak for any other times).

The only reason I have not left this gym yet is because they have heavier weights and I frequent another location when I'm traveling. I wish there were more gyms in Lynchburg to help with the overcrowding. I am glad that other people are working to improve their health, but it's also a pain in the neck when it's too many people in the gym.
